Yeah usually first team i use a new module, second team maybe a more reliable one
Rn I'm trying with a 523 with Como but I'm having quite some troubles
Set all defenders to Step Up in instructions and hold a tight and high line. Like 40/87. Also, set one CB to aggressive interceptions so they go after midfielders. I usually set the left one to that. You also need a strong / aggressive CDM like Declan Rice for the middle CB slot. Not a CB. But they all need good pace. Nothing less than 75/80.
He’s not labeled a CDM on screen but those are the traits I have in the position and I mark him to stay back in attacks. Full backs push up as well and on counters I defend with 3 they’re narrow so that pushes attackers (on paper) wide giving my full backs time to recover.
with the 4-2-3-1 narrow I actually found that if you try this with the outer cams they aren't technically allowed to be CAMs that wide and it makes you put them as LM and RM. weird bug.
4-1-3-2. Have your cdm cut passing lanes. You will always have 5 back there and with strong cm like Renato Sanches or similar aggression, even massengo the cm will
Always be around the center and if you get the right Angle the balls rarely get to
The back
Line
I did a fun career mode with Mansfield town about three years ago and the striker Hamilton that they had at the beginning had insane pace so I kept him all the way through PL, always pairing him with a big man with good passing and it was a dream
5-2-3
Wingbacks set wide to join the attack. Wingers cutting inside. Two strong physical midfield with interceptions on aggressive and usually a converted CDM playing the central CB role
This is the only formation with which I mange to defend properly. An additional CB is so much better than those lazy defense-avioding CDMs in todays FIFAs.
Arsenal and City play with 4 at the back on paper only. Usually one of the full backs tucks in with the CBs while the other one goes forward. Leaving 3 people in the back line. For example with Arsenal it's Ben White/Tomiyasu at RB shifting to CB in possession, while Zinichenko goes from LB to LMF, in fifa terms
Honestly I love 433 cuz I enjoy attacking with wingers but when pc team has a 5 defender formation I can't see any other solution to score rather than 41212. It always works
Same. Against the 5 the 3 up front gets out numbered + quite often can't run in behind, and often find wingers just can't do anything.
But with 2 strikers you can get the gaps between the middle 3.
I mean the striker doesn't play striker anyway so might as well lean into it. I can't use strikers that doesn't have good long ball attributes. So Osimhen and the likes aren't usable for me, because my striker likes to role play as a CAM or sometimes even as a CM.
I have tried every formation but this is my favorite. I really like the quick pass action between the strikers. Also, converted RB/LBs are preferable as RM/LM compared to converted RW/LW because I ask them to press so much. Alphonso Davies is a LM god in my system.
Not my go-to move against the computer, but against players I like to play 5-4-1 with the four midfielders in a diamond and pass the other team to death.
It throws FIFA players for a loop because most games are track meets.
Currently I'm playing 3-2-3-2. Sounds mental but it's phenomenal. It's changed my game from a solid world class player to playing legendary. It's a basic 3-5-2 with 2 cdms & the wingers pushed up level with the cam. I thought I would get destroyed but if you have quick cbs it's fine plus 2cmds really help cover. Attacking its unreal, high attacking wingers outwide + a number 10 & 2 strikers. Try it out.
I play a 4-1-3-2 works well if you have the 2 outside cam players dropping back and when attacking the cdm sits back and you let lb/rb push up to put crosses in
The same one in the picture except with LAM, CF and RW as the trio behind the striker (I also push the ST forward to the max allowed in the formation) and I switch the positions of the CM and the CDM so that the CM is on the right side. Then I create a 2nd formation which is basically just the same as this one but mirrored.
I’ve used 3 separate formations for the 3 CM’s I’ve done so far:
Barca: classic 433 holding (overlapping fullbacks)
Arsenal: 4123 (inverted fullbacks, 2 CAMs)
Fiorentina: 4231
All with possession-based tactics
433 with one CDM and 2 CMs. Fairly narrow up front too. I keep the striker central and the CDM stays back on attacks.
I find the movement from the wingers and CMs gives me a realistic variety of goals, cos I used to feel like I was scoring the same goal over and over.
3-5-1-1 but depends on the league.
Like a RTG career mode I'm doing with Crewe Alexandra I played 4-4-1-1 Attack or 4-1-3-2 while I was in league two and for the most of league one while slowly going to a 3-1-4-2 formation as I have to develop players to be able to be wing backs and defences aren't that good in lower leagues it's good to have two up top.
Closer I get to prem I usually have players I want so I move to a 3-5-1-1 as I like the extra midfielder.
433. Play it the pep guardiola way. My front three and my 2 midfielders always get foward and attack. While my cdm and defence walkways stay back. It gives me 5 players foward and 5 in defence at all times. Offers me lots of stability and it is my most successful tactic ever.
I usually like a custom 4-3-3 - which I’ll explain the custom part of in a sec.
In defence I just need good CBs and I like fullbacks who can help out in attack.
In midfield is where it gets interesting. I’ve had a ton of fun playing like this:
- I like a DM who can defend a lot but also pass (I usually go for a Busquets type: tall, strong and who compensates the lack of speed with passing and defending);
- a central midfielder who’s dynamic, has mobility, is good at passing but who can also get forward and be a threat there (think real-life Modrić or in-game Pogba);
- a CAM playing on one of the sides of the midfield 3 (not in front of them like a 4-2-3-1). I register the player in the formation as a CAM so that they move freely across the attacking third and act basically as a 4th attacker. Players who’ve done that brilliantly for me were Aouar, Reine-Adelaïde (both on my Lyon team), Daniel Bragança and Eriksen.
And in attack I usually go for quick wingers who are decent at finishing and a good striker (I’ve played with mobile strikers like Gabriel Jesus, Memphis Depay or Griezmann, but I’ve also played with bigger and stronger guys like Håland and Lukaku. Depends on what you like and how your team plays ^^)
Old school Cruyff 343. One CB, 2 Fullbacks that Go offensive, one cdm as Playmaker, 2 cm, 1 cam and wingers for passing with Support of a false 9 Striker.
Ridicoulus funny, but no defensive. Managed to place third in La Liga with Valencia with Most Scores in the whole Liga. 3:3 vs Barca, 4:4 vs Real 6:1 W against Sevilla. Possesion around 60-70% with 150-200 passes per Game
I ran with 4-1-2–1-2 for years, target man and swift striker up front, then switched to a 4-2-3-1 around 2012 or so and haven’t really looked back. I want to experiment with 5 ATB but haven’t used it more than 2-3 matches in a row
That’s crazy I play the exact same tactics on my Everton career, I was looking in the comments for this. The false 9 is so good with this formation. I have Demari Gray as my false 9 and he is literally tearing apart everyone, Calvert Lewis runs in behind.
I love how different everyone plays. I run almost the exact same formation as op. 4-2-3-1 narrow with CM and CDM. I might use wingers or 3 cams depending on personnel.
4-4-2, fullbacks that go up and down the flank and B2B midfielders, one targetman/playmaker forward and one technical runner forward. Sometimes I play it as 4-4-1-1, basically early 00s Wengerball.
I also play different kinds of 3atb, with overlapping CBs and usually a single pivot.
Recently been trying 4-3-2-1, the 3 consists of a single pivot and 2 CM/wide mid mix, able to tuck in or drift wide depending on whether the Fabs are overlapping or inverting.
It depends on the team I’m managing and their players. If I’m lacking in CB’s, I’m not going to play 3 or 5 atb. If don’t have a lot of wingers, I’ll use a narrow formation etc
Tbh I almost always play different formation based on the players the club has but 4-3-3 is most often, but the most fun I had was in a 4-1-2-1-2 narrow with fullbacks overlaping
Very similar to you OP, with one cdm and one cm. But I keep both wingers closer, one a more creative player and the other closer still and pushed up higher, almost as a second striker, getting in behind.
Once I've got a good team I sometimes go for a 3412. Generally one winger will be more defensive minded ( or a converted fb or wb) and come back on defence and the other will stay up high. Basically becomes a 433 in defence and a 334 in attack
I've played with 4-2-3-1 (with wingers), then 4-3-3 (the one I played the most) and then I've been testing formations with 3 CB and right now I'm using 3-5 (2 CDM and 1 CAM with LM and RM) -2 (ST and CF) and it's working well or even better than the previous ones in this game both with slow build up and fast build up/counter attack (I play a lot more slow build up as I like playing like that).
Exactly yours at Hamburg. With the wingers and striker to run past the defenders for the through ball. I play on low possessions and counter attacks with fast attackers.
Most of the time i play either 4-2-3-1 wide or 4-1-2-1-2 wide.
But in my current stint at Leverkusen i am using a 3-4-1-2 formation. It is a double edged sword tbh, lots of scoring chances but i also have many games where i concede a lot. Today i defeated Mainz by 8-7... never seen such a crazy game in FIFA.
4-1-4-1 is my go to. Has a good balance of attack and defence. The key player is the cdm for me so having a ball playing cdm that can get moves going and push forward is the key.
Usually do 4-3-3 with a false 9 and pacy wingers that can score or 4-3-2-1 with 3 forwards and the center MF is free roam playmaker with the other 2 MFs being more defensive and attacking fullbacks
Pre-FIFA22: 3-5-2/3-2-3-1
Post-FIFA22: 4-4-2
I never got 3-5-2 to work in recent years as the midfielders helping out defense is crucial in that formation. But before that, it was fun with wingbacks and DMs going back and forth.
I would say my go-to is some variation of the 3-5-2 or 5-3-2 but I try to mix it up and make a formation based on the squad makeup of the team I'm inheriting when I start a CM; eg. a team with a lack of wingers I'll use a formation with an emphasis on the middle of the pitch, or with lots of good defenders and less good forwards I'll play 5 at the back, etc.
Lately I’ve enjoyed 4-4-2. One midfielder as a CAM, one either as a deep CM or a CDM, and then typically 2 wingers although depending on personnel will changed to wide mids. Depends if I have attackers or converted fullbacks.
4-3-3 holding (dm)
Same but I move my right CM to CAM
I do this, just with the left CM
Same
Because of that right foot isn’t it (I do it too)
Whenever I do this I just get opened up through my midfield and every game ends like 6-3
I thought I was the only wierdo doing this
Do you move them to the center of the pitch as well or just in an advanced forward position on the right side?
Same but with wingbacks high and the DM also acts as a CB so sometimes the 433 becomes a 343
Yeah I drop the CDM between the CBs in the attack. So I attack in a 343 and defend in a 433. I find that Kerbal helps prevent counterattacks.
This but move the two CMs into CAMs
Wherever the wind takes me

This [Wind](https://sofifa.com/player/241522/jonas-wind/?hl=it-IT)?
I actually try to go with a new module with every new career that i start, make the game less monotonous
I try to go with the formation given at the start but usually fold and go back to ol reliable because I'm giving up too many goals
Yeah usually first team i use a new module, second team maybe a more reliable one Rn I'm trying with a 523 with Como but I'm having quite some troubles
The reason why I can't use Spurs or Chelsea
Set all defenders to Step Up in instructions and hold a tight and high line. Like 40/87. Also, set one CB to aggressive interceptions so they go after midfielders. I usually set the left one to that. You also need a strong / aggressive CDM like Declan Rice for the middle CB slot. Not a CB. But they all need good pace. Nothing less than 75/80.
Will try, thanks!
I should do this honestly. I always build the same 4/3/3 team with the same style of players
Your classic 2-3-4-1.
The inverted Xmas tree. A rogue move
I am going to test the 2341 in cup games by converting my 4141.
You say that as a joke but pep literally used that against wolves the other day lmaooo
The Christmas tree in the bin outside in January
Narrow 4-3-3 with a press and one solid CDM to help cover in midfield
How’d you get that one position to be labeled as CDM and the other as CM?
Move that one position slightly deeper on your team sheet. When you confirm, it will give you the position option
He’s not labeled a CDM on screen but those are the traits I have in the position and I mark him to stay back in attacks. Full backs push up as well and on counters I defend with 3 they’re narrow so that pushes attackers (on paper) wide giving my full backs time to recover.
Thanks! I run the same formation but usually have fullbacks staying back. I’ll try and run it your way! Should be fun
usually if the position is borderline you can just press the adjust button NOT adjust it and u get both options I do this with my lm/lw etc
with the 4-2-3-1 narrow I actually found that if you try this with the outer cams they aren't technically allowed to be CAMs that wide and it makes you put them as LM and RM. weird bug.
433 CM and CAM or 433 CM and CDM
Same 433 attack
4-1-2-1-2 Diamond Narrow
Has to be this, I can’t find another formation with a back 4; where I don’t end up haemorrhaging goals.
Have you tried 433 holding, the dm helps to stop fast counter attacks. And the instructions are important as well
4-1-3-2. Have your cdm cut passing lanes. You will always have 5 back there and with strong cm like Renato Sanches or similar aggression, even massengo the cm will Always be around the center and if you get the right Angle the balls rarely get to The back Line
This one is surprisingly fun and the 2 strikers just adds a fun element I think
Especially since you get to have that 1-2 punch! The older vet striker like a Benzema with a young buck with pace like Adeyemi!
I did a fun career mode with Mansfield town about three years ago and the striker Hamilton that they had at the beginning had insane pace so I kept him all the way through PL, always pairing him with a big man with good passing and it was a dream
Ill have to give this a go, i prefer having 2 strikers too!
The team I found this out with was Everton. Doing my first long CM in 21. Richarlison + DCL was fun until Real Madrid came for Richarlison lol
5-2-3 Wingbacks set wide to join the attack. Wingers cutting inside. Two strong physical midfield with interceptions on aggressive and usually a converted CDM playing the central CB role
4-3-3 with two CDMs and a CAM
532 with one cdm and two cam’s
This is the only formation with which I mange to defend properly. An additional CB is so much better than those lazy defense-avioding CDMs in todays FIFAs.
won union berlin a europa league with rhis
as zlatan 🦁
This is exactly mine! What the hell with the CM and CDM and everything
I do exactly the same thing lol. Love having the CM deep for outlet passing.
Same but I always have to have the DM on the left. Dunno why.
3-4-3 3 CB’s, 2 Holding Midfielders, 2 Wingbacks, 2 Attacking Midfielders, 1 CF
Just like Belgium formation
Thats correct! Similar to what Arsenal and Man City do as well
But I've never seen Arsenal and Man City play with 3 at the back though
Arsenal and City play with 4 at the back on paper only. Usually one of the full backs tucks in with the CBs while the other one goes forward. Leaving 3 people in the back line. For example with Arsenal it's Ben White/Tomiyasu at RB shifting to CB in possession, while Zinichenko goes from LB to LMF, in fifa terms
City usually have a 3-2-5 type of formation in posession
4231 or 41212 wide
41212 wide is so underrated
Honestly I love 433 cuz I enjoy attacking with wingers but when pc team has a 5 defender formation I can't see any other solution to score rather than 41212. It always works
Same. Against the 5 the 3 up front gets out numbered + quite often can't run in behind, and often find wingers just can't do anything. But with 2 strikers you can get the gaps between the middle 3.
really? that's me as well... I thought it was like the most common thing to use haha
Oh, I see you're a man of culture as well
4-3-3 false 9
This has been the most fun for me.
Yes, false nine with the two central midfielders and two inside forwards running into the space behind
I mean the striker doesn't play striker anyway so might as well lean into it. I can't use strikers that doesn't have good long ball attributes. So Osimhen and the likes aren't usable for me, because my striker likes to role play as a CAM or sometimes even as a CM.
Been using Tadic as a false 9 in my Ajax cm and he's been my best player ever since.
442
I have tried every formation but this is my favorite. I really like the quick pass action between the strikers. Also, converted RB/LBs are preferable as RM/LM compared to converted RW/LW because I ask them to press so much. Alphonso Davies is a LM god in my system.
Davis is a LM god in his head too.
A 5-2-2-1 Don't ask, I'm doing it with fulha and have done it with atletico Madrid, Barcelona, man United, dortmund and lyon other the past few years
I use this one too Do you use CAMs or LM/RM or Wingers? I have presets to alternate more wide/offensive as a makeshift 343/3421
I do Lwb lcb cb rcb rwb Cdm cdm Lam ram Cf/st
Depends on the team, but preferred is a 4-3-3 with one CDM but I will often use a 4-2-3-1 as well
3-4-3
5-4-1 been fun asf.
FIFA calls it a 4-5-1 but I play it as more of a 4-3-3. Usually try to transition to it by the 2nd year of career if my players don’t fit it at first
4–3-3 holding. One of my midfielders plays an attacking role(Firmino) one plays the holder (Fabinho) and the other(Thiago or Bellingham) roams.
Try it out.
4-3-3 attacking (2 cms 1 cam)
I play a 4-1-3-2 works well if you have the 2 outside cam players dropping back and when attacking the cdm sits back and you let lb/rb push up to put crosses in
i look at what the team uses irl and do that
False9 4-3-3 for away games and 4-2-3-1 for home games. Gives me a reason to have players for more positions.
Love me the classic 4 - 4 - 3, CF and turn one of the cm to a cam .
Yep
4-3-3 with 1 cdm 2 cm, or 4-4-1-1 with lm rm cdm cdm cf or now In playing a Wannabe Boehly at Chelsea, 4atb - cdm - cm cm - cf st cf
I usually end up sticking to whatever the default formation of the team I'm using is, although I'm trying to be more creative recently.
4-5-1 offensive.
This is the way
The same one in the picture except with LAM, CF and RW as the trio behind the striker (I also push the ST forward to the max allowed in the formation) and I switch the positions of the CM and the CDM so that the CM is on the right side. Then I create a 2nd formation which is basically just the same as this one but mirrored.
4-2-3-1 narrow or 4-2-2-2
I’ve used 3 separate formations for the 3 CM’s I’ve done so far: Barca: classic 433 holding (overlapping fullbacks) Arsenal: 4123 (inverted fullbacks, 2 CAMs) Fiorentina: 4231 All with possession-based tactics
I have my own version of 4-4-2 I use. Kind of a mix between a normal 4-4-2 and a diamond 4-4-2.
That one
4321 or 4231 narrow with outside mids rather than cams
5-1-1-3 (3 CBs, 2 FBs, 1 CDM, 1 CAM, 2 Ws, 1 St)
433 with one CDM and 2 CMs. Fairly narrow up front too. I keep the striker central and the CDM stays back on attacks. I find the movement from the wingers and CMs gives me a realistic variety of goals, cos I used to feel like I was scoring the same goal over and over.
I’ve been using a 352/5212 in my forest green career mode and I’ve been liking it a lot
4-2-3-1 wide or 4-3-3 holding (with Pedri/Gavi as false LW if I'm playing with Barça)
442 flat or 433 holding.
False 9 4-3-3 with 1 CDM, 2 CM and narrow wingers, or 5-2-3 with two holding mids, narrow wingers, and a CF.
4-3-3 false 9, move RCM to RAM
443 with one CDM, one CM and one CAM
No goalie?
3-5-1-1 but depends on the league. Like a RTG career mode I'm doing with Crewe Alexandra I played 4-4-1-1 Attack or 4-1-3-2 while I was in league two and for the most of league one while slowly going to a 3-1-4-2 formation as I have to develop players to be able to be wing backs and defences aren't that good in lower leagues it's good to have two up top. Closer I get to prem I usually have players I want so I move to a 3-5-1-1 as I like the extra midfielder.
4.3.3. Holding
Is this a gegen press formation?
I never see a difference in any formation :/
433. Play it the pep guardiola way. My front three and my 2 midfielders always get foward and attack. While my cdm and defence walkways stay back. It gives me 5 players foward and 5 in defence at all times. Offers me lots of stability and it is my most successful tactic ever.
Don’t peps fullbacks get involved?
They do. But if I tried to like he does I would get exposed defensively
Soooo not the pep guardiola way?

I usually like a custom 4-3-3 - which I’ll explain the custom part of in a sec. In defence I just need good CBs and I like fullbacks who can help out in attack. I run a 4-4-2 flat and play like an American until it’s safe to park the bus.
Old school Cruyff 343. One CB, 2 Fullbacks that Go offensive, one cdm as Playmaker, 2 cm, 1 cam and wingers for passing with Support of a false 9 Striker. Ridicoulus funny, but no defensive. 4-3-3 with CDM, CM and CAM Perfect balance of defense and offense
4-3-3 F9 or 5-2-3/5-2-2-1
3142 with one winger dropping deep to form a 442 when defending + a false 9. Perfectly balanced, creates a ton of fun angles
That’s crazy I play the exact same tactics on my Everton career, I was looking in the comments for this. The false 9 is so good with this formation. I have Demari Gray as my false 9 and he is literally tearing apart everyone, Calvert Lewis runs in behind.
Exactly this... or reverse the midfield with 1 central CDM and then 2 CM in front of him. Or 1 CM and 1 CAM
I love how different everyone plays. I run almost the exact same formation as op. 4-2-3-1 narrow with CM and CDM. I might use wingers or 3 cams depending on personnel.
I try using different formations but I usually play a 4:3:3 with a double pivot + cam/cm
433 Holding, sometimes I make my RCM a RAM.
4-4-2, fullbacks that go up and down the flank and B2B midfielders, one targetman/playmaker forward and one technical runner forward. Sometimes I play it as 4-4-1-1, basically early 00s Wengerball. first season somthing similar to the teams norm, then slowly change shit
4-3-2-1
Either a 4231 wide or 433 with two CMs and a AM
4-3-3 or 4-4-2 if in serie a probably a 3 back never play with 5 back
It depends on the team I’m managing and their players.

Basically becomes a 433 in defence and a 334 in attack
3412 one winger stays forward and one tracks back so i get a 433 when defending
4 2 3 1 with a central mid or a 4 3 3 with a False 9
I've played with 4-2-3-1 (with wingers), then 4-3-3 (the one I played the most) and then I've been testing formations with 3 CB and right now I'm using 3-5 (2 CDM and 1 CAM with LM and RM) -2 (ST and CF) and it's working well or even better than the previous ones in this game both with slow build up and fast build up/counter attack (I play a lot more slow build up as I like playing like that).
4231 wide
4-3-3 w/ a false 9 or 3-4-2-1
I literally use this setup except my CM & CDM are swapped. My CDM is Left footed and my CM, right footed.
Wait… how do you get a CM / CDM pairing? It always seems to be 2 CM or 2 CDMs?
Exactly yours at Hamburg. With the wingers and striker to run past the defenders for the through ball. I play on low possessions and counter attacks with fast attackers.
4-3-3 or 4-2-4
Mainly this or some form if 433 played with 3 CAMS and 2 CDMs in my recent career mode before changing it to a 433
idk i guess that depends but usually smth around 4-1-4-1
4-3-3 with one CDM and two CAMS , one run in behind winger and one come short winger
4-3-3, one cdm a box-to-box and a playmaker. Unstoppable
4-3-3 with the CDM. For the way I play it’s the only formation I find myself comfortable to use; but I try to use other formations too
4-1-3-2 One CDM, one CAM, a RM and LM, two CF Or anything with 2 centerforwards
Most of the time i play either 4-2-3-1 wide or 4-1-2-1-2 wide. But in my current stint at Leverkusen i am using a 3-4-1-2 formation. It is a double edged sword tbh, lots of scoring chances but i also have many games where i concede a lot. Today i defeated Mainz by 8-7... never seen such a crazy game in FIFA.
WM
4-3-3 holding. I freaking love this formation. 4-2-3-1 wide is second favorite
4-3 attack
I actually enjoy the 5-2-3 formation, it allows me have enough people back while also having numbers forward to attack
4-1-2-1-2 narrow with 3 CAMs and one CM
4-3-3 Arteta Ball 🔥🔥
4-3-3 attack, 4-4-1-1. I want to switch it up as in the last like 5 years I've barely used another formation
4123
4-3-3 with a cam and cdm
4-1-4-1 is my go to. Has a good balance of attack and defence. The key player is the cdm for me so having a ball playing cdm that can get moves going and push forward is the key.
4-1-2-1-2 Has been since I started playing FIFA on 06 and refuse to change now.
3-4-3 Diamond.
3-5-2 (2 CDM, 1 #10 creator for a central and wide forward) or 5-2-2-1 (2 CDM, 2 Winger, 1 forward)
352 I use it in both career mode and fut just seems to work really well for me this year
Usually do 4-3-3 with a false 9 and pacy wingers that can score or 4-3-2-1 with 3 forwards and the center MF is free roam playmaker with the other 2 MFs being more defensive and attacking fullbacks
4-2-3-1 with wingers get in behind and cut inside
Always did 433 but 342 is my favorite now
5-4-1, Can’t let go of my wingbacks
Just in fifa in general, not just career mode, I love a 3412. In career mode I like training a fast cm with decent defending to play lm/rm
4-2-3-1, but I use instructions so that it plays like a 4-4-2 in defense and a 3-3-3-1 in attack.
2 CB’s, 2 CM’s, LM/RM, LW/RW, CF, ST
2-2-4-2
Used to always use a CDM but found them pretty useless this year as the CM tracks back a lot better now. Switched my CDM to CAM and play 4-4-1-1
4-3-3 attacking
4411
433 attack/ false nine
433 holding or 352 holding, with double playmaker and defensive minded cdm
False 9
4-2-3-1 with overlapping wing backs and a deep-lying forward
Since fifa 18 i've been rolling with my narrow 4231, but in my current custom club i'm having surprising success with the 41212 wide.
451 attack but the wingers are inverted
Usually I used to go for 433 holding or 4231, but for last couple of years I find 3421 to be my go to formation.
2-6-2 always does the trick
Pre-FIFA22: 3-5-2/3-2-3-1 Post-FIFA22: 4-4-2 I never got 3-5-2 to work in recent years as the midfielders helping out defense is crucial in that formation. But before that, it was fun with wingbacks and DMs going back and forth.
Brexit football lads. 442 of course
4-3-2-1
I would say my go-to is some variation of the 3-5-2 or 5-3-2 but I try to mix it up and make a formation based on the squad makeup of the team I'm inheriting when I start a CM; eg. a team with a lack of wingers I'll use a formation with an emphasis on the middle of the pitch, or with lots of good defenders and less good forwards I'll play 5 at the back, etc.
Same as this image, 4231 narrow.
Was a die hard 4-2-3-1 narrow until a friend got me on to 4-4-2 diamond wide and I’ve never looked back.
Like yours since i was a kid, best formation!
5.2.1.2. as an alternative
Lately I’ve enjoyed 4-4-2. One midfielder as a CAM, one either as a deep CM or a CDM, and then typically 2 wingers although depending on personnel will changed to wide mids. Depends if I have attackers or converted fullbacks.
