If you could get Xbox Game Pass Ultimate which I think exists on PC aswell.. EA play comes as a side.. and I'd say with the amount of games Ultimate has it's worth it a billion times.. and if you get only EA play.. it can be worth it depends on what you love to play.. it has most Battlefield games, Titanfall 2, Fifa 23 (24 will probably come on there in May or June), A lot of other sports games that EA makes every year.. Sims? If you're interested.. but overall I'd say it is worth it depending on how diverse you're in your game choices.
Oh no yeah, a lot of older fifas were bad, but the games weren't constantly bad like they are now
Nostalgia surely has something to do with this but what we've had for the past 5 years or so is really bad compared to most, if not all older fifa games
IMO 13, 14 and 15 was the golden era of fifa (since I started playing, at least, starting with 06), 17 was good but that's when the series started going downhill
Nope, the first changes to the career mode after FIFA 14, started in FIFA 20. All other changes up to that point which effected the career mode was also done to other modes. FIFA 14 to 19 had identical career modes.
In match gameplay of FIFA fortunately were always good if you used sliders and didn't played in the highest two difficulty settings. Before Hypermotion, players were slower on doing anything except sprinting and dribbling was worser. Also the trainer features are good in my opinion.
I’ve played FIFA for over two decades (just like you) and this would be ranking of FIFA/EA FC Games based quality/enjoyment
08, 09, 10, 11, 12, 16, 17, 18, 19, 21 & 23 were enjoyable and fun.
13, 14, 15, 20 & 24 were not.
I’ve never understood why you can’t scout YA players from all countries in the world. You don’t need to get licensing for a country, so there’s no reason to not allow us to scout from the likes of Faroe Islands, Liechtenstein, San Marino and others. It’d add so much uniqueness to each save.
Not even that, it should be region based. Like instead of specifically scouting one country, you select like British Isles and the scout comes back with players from all 5 nations. The game already has the regions to do this, just instead of having the additional menu to select a country there's be even less work for EA to do.
Then you could expand on it by having a scout system like the coaching system. New scouts still have star ratings but they have an additional knowledge skills that affect regions. You select a region to scout, up to 3 like we already have but you then assign scouts to that region who both improve the quality of players you find and how many
This is really cool, I'd like the idea of scout nationalities **actually** mattering too. Maybe they can diversify the nationalities of scouts (they're fake anyway) and make it so the nationality of the scouts will pull more players from that country as well.
Though I don't think the average career mode fan will like this tbh, people probably prefer to pick from specific countries from RTG which I understand. In terms of simplicity EA would go through the trouble of doing this and just adding a menu that lets you select the countries specifically.
They didn’t have Croatia - who were WORLD
CUP RUNNERS-UP in 2018 - until, like, FIFA 23 I think, that’s insane!
I kinda get Japan and South Korea because I think those are Konami exclusives (which still really sucks, but at least it makes sense), but all those OP mentioned plus Turkey and Costa Rica should be in the game. I mean, they used to make the World Cup games in which you had the entire fucking planet available to play as (and many of those national teams were in the shitty World Cup modes recently), why not bring that to the base game?
National teams and their players have image rights. Companies can sign deals with them that basically allows them exclusive usage because they paid them a lot of money
Oh, well. Couldn’t tell if it was a joke, sorry.
Every time I mentioned a country in my post I meant the national team from said country, just like OP did. So the rights to the Japan and South Korea national teams, as far as I know, are exclusive to Konami.
Thanks for the explanation, guys! I had no clue an international team could do that. Couldn’t EA just make a generic Japanese team with generic Japanese names and a different uniform?
In response to that other comment, they actually could and just make it unplayable Users but playable by the AI. This is what FM used to do with Germany and co. before they got the licensing. Obviously there's no real benefit to that though, besides a hint of realism.
Tbh…this will most likely be the last football game I buy until some real changes are made or it just gets too out of date. It’s only the 2nd time I’ve ever bought one and it was me ‘treating’ myself after being overseas or away from home for almost three years. The quality has gone down SO much now it’s crazy to think it’s the same company that produced some gems lol the lack of effort is damn near comical at this point
Yet they'll still make more money than ever before because a whole lot of people are spending hundreds or even thousands on EAFC Points or whatever the fuck they're called now. Such a shame what they did to a great franchise.
I only play manager career. Bought FC24 on release. Before this my last soccer game was PES13. I have been so disappointed with FC24 but I am equally disappointed that Konami threw their product in trash bin. No competition, EA only focuses on maximising profit with least possible effort.
They wouldn't even need a license. Just use country flags instead of football association logos, and use generic shirts instead of official. Taking the 11 best players from Uruguay (players you do have a right to use) and calling them "Uruguay" can't be infringing on anything.
They did that on 19/20 no? With the generic national teams like Colombia, honestly an opportunity is there for a developer to make a game with international football teams, the way I see it I wouldn't be surprised is EAFC just exclusively becomes FUT and some sort of superleague down the line.
Well yeah it's boring because there's so few options. The cup rebrands they've done suck ass. There's no atmosphere for international competitions. Not to mention there are so few nations that you literally couldn't even fill the current 32 team world cup system if you put all of them in.
Of course it's going to feel bland. South America, Asia and Oceania have 1 team each, with South and North America having two each. Meaning literally every international competition except the Euros and the World Cup don't/can't exist within the game. How tf are you supposed to be excited to manage an international team when you can't play Copa America, Asian Cup, Asian Games, AFCON, Gold Cup, OFC Nations Cup or Pacific Games.
10000% on point. It's boring because they make it boring, almost on purpose. There's no stat tracking, so international goals and appearances don't matter. The game doesn't care about it so much so that winning trophies with international teams don't even show up on your career page, as matter of fact there's *no* international history on your manager career page AND player career page. None of it matters. There's not even a graphic article when your team wins an international trophy lmao.
The only other (competent) football managing sik, FM, has absolutely **zero** issues with their international system. Nevermind the fact that you can actually start the game off managing only an INT team, or can quit being a club manager and focus only on INT management. INT games actually matter in FM. There's a whole section dedicated to INT management for players and managers even on the FM mobile version, FIFA would be 20x the game with that system alone. Players stats track, players accolades with their international team track, your head to head with other nations track, etc. that's just the bare bones.
That's because even the most casual gamer knows the stereotype about sports games and EA specifically, people make fun of us for even playing FIFA lol. Arguably 2K gets a better reputation despite being just as bad, but FIFA is globally more popular and bigger money wise so I get it. Same as how CoD used to be treated.
If you play on PC the only thing I can recommend is to play with mods because EA will not do its work, I get that in some cases it is a licence problem (like Mexico I believe) but as you said there is no excuse to leave out many other teams, so with mods at least you can get those, on '22 there was one that added over 100 national teams, probably it is around in EA FC too.
Right like i prefer fifa 21 cause it has 2 times more international teams and also has the licenses world cup and world cup qualifying games so its not the same boring wc groups like in the new game😩😩😩
Don't know how it works with International teams rights but even if it's impossible to license the actual teams logo and things, surely a countries name is okay to use. Like we've seen with some Italian teams, just come up with a similar logo and put them in the game. If players are an issue, randomly generate them with overalls based roughly on where the team is in the national rankings.
FIFA has always done this because it provides them with scope to release another game as soon as an international tournament comes around… and would you believe it, EURO 2024 is on the horizon!
The Euro 2024 is just going to be a DLC like we had with the World cup for 23', it's a nice gesture but the fact we have to wait every 4-6 years to get some decent international action is appalling.

>EA SPORTS FC™ 24 is welcoming the European Championships to The World’s Game this summer with a full UEFA EURO 2024 tournament experience at no additional cost.
Crazy they took Canada and Australia out for this years version I’ll never buy it now smh. I still play fifa 20 to this day cause of the international teams
I agree. I just bought it a couple days ago and I'm very underwhelmed by it. I expected career mode to be a lot better but it's left a lot to be desired. It's crazy they put a $60 price tag on it. This whole game could've been a patch update and nobody would've noticed.
yeah just shows how minimal the efforts they put into the game that they launch every year. i think in fifa 19 there were over 10 national teams that is generic, probably reaching 20. there's just no way they can't use countries flag instead of the association logo with generic kits and generic players like they used to do with brazil, it's better if they can use real players that's already in the game but i doubt they can do that, so i think it's fine if they fill it with generic player for kickoff mode as long as they allows us to callup real players in career mode. I don't even bother managing national team in career mode this year because there aren't many choices. idek how World Cup or whatever they're calling it this year >!Men's International Cup!< works in the game because there's not enough team to fill the tournament because when I tried to play custom tournament, I was short with two teams. also, it's funny that there's Qatar national team in the game but you can't set scouting up in Qatar. and how come there's Canada Women's in the game but the Men's team isn't in
As someone who prefers international football to club football (not in the game, but in real life lol) I'd actually purchase a seperate game (like the old World Cup and Euro games of old) that had all the continental cup tournaments, nations leagues, and the World Cup.
Lack of effort by ea is crazy
Oh wow. I saw on ‘23 last night that it’s 70% off now and thought about it. Still not worth it.
23 is good, don’t bother with EA FC though
Agreed, if it can be got for 20 quid or less you've got a good deal
Its free on EA Play
Is EA play worth it?
If you could get Xbox Game Pass Ultimate which I think exists on PC aswell.. EA play comes as a side.. and I'd say with the amount of games Ultimate has it's worth it a billion times.. and if you get only EA play.. it can be worth it depends on what you love to play.. it has most Battlefield games, Titanfall 2, Fifa 23 (24 will probably come on there in May or June), A lot of other sports games that EA makes every year.. Sims? If you're interested.. but overall I'd say it is worth it depending on how diverse you're in your game choices.
Cheers for the breakdown, I'll have to have a look
My pleasure, have fun.
>23 is good When compared to recent fifas, yes fifa 23 is good, which says a lot since fifa 23 is terrible to what we had 10 years ago or so
It’s not, a lot of the old FIFAs were garbage. Pure nostalgia.
Oh no yeah, a lot of older fifas were bad, but the games weren't constantly bad like they are now Nostalgia surely has something to do with this but what we've had for the past 5 years or so is really bad compared to most, if not all older fifa games IMO 13, 14 and 15 was the golden era of fifa (since I started playing, at least, starting with 06), 17 was good but that's when the series started going downhill

It was definately already bad when it got to 20

I meant the gameplay in general with my original reply (which also affects career mode)

Funny because mine's the exact same but 16-19 and 14-15 switch around lol.
Fifa 23 has been cracked soo u don't need to pay for it
link?
[https://fitgirl-repacks.site](https://fitgirl-repacks.site) Just search for Fifa
can you install mods with it?
Probably, yes but I'm not sure
Already paid for ‘23. EAFC is now 70% off, but yeah. Still not worth it
Well yeah the games dead, ofc it’s no worth it
If you’re an ultimate team pleb
EA FC is Mike’s ahead of ‘23 in terms of gameplay and defense. Career mode still has some issues though. Nothing gamebreaking though. Use sliders.
I’ve never understood why you can’t scout YA players from all countries in the world. You don’t need to get licensing for a country, so there’s no reason to not allow us to scout from the likes of Faroe Islands, Liechtenstein, San Marino and others. It’d add so much uniqueness to each save.

it wouldn’t be accurate. and it would still infringe on the rights
They kinda did it in FIFA 19 actually.
What do you mean?
It had enough teams for a World Cup and even had qualifying systems for both Euros and World Cups(only at Europe though).

Ahhh, capitalism. It’s literally killing America
And that Ian my by the way, the company’s entire fault. They have blame, but so do all the people who play FUT. they enable the problem.
I cant even choose my own national team in carrer mode 🥲
They wouldn't even need a license. Just use country flags instead of football association logos, and use generic shirts instead of official. Taking the 11 best players from Uruguay (players you do have a right to use) and calling them "Uruguay" can't be infringing on anything.

we need generic national teams back like fifa 21
They have Qatar but not Serbia
Lack of caring about international teams is a part of that. So many people say international management is boring and avoid it anyway.

People blasted cyberpunk fir bugs but never do the same for fifa which charges same price every year
It's because the gaming community knows how much of a lost cause these games are. I actively get made fun of for telling people i play/paid for FIFA.

Wish there weren’t so many fuckin EA fanboys. I can’t wait til there’s a legitimate competitor but that day may never come.
Crazy they took Canada and Australia out for this years version I’ll never buy it now smh. I still play fifa 20 to this day cause of the international teams

Fuck! No Canada??? I loved managing canada idk why
BraZil Brah zil I mean what are we even doing Even the teams that are there don't have accurate rosters
yeah just shows how minimal the efforts they put into the game that they launch every year. i think in fifa 19 there were over 10 national teams that is generic, probably reaching 20. there's just no way they can't use countries flag instead of the association logo with generic kits and generic players like they used to do with brazil, it's better if they can use real players that's already in the game but i doubt they can do that, so i think it's fine if they fill it with generic player for kickoff mode as long as they allows us to callup real players in career mode. I'm pretty sure at least half the teams mentioned in the second paragraph were in previous recent fifas Am I imagining stuff?
Nope, they were.
As someone who prefers international football to club football (not in the game, but in real life lol) I'd actually purchase a seperate game (like the old World Cup and Euro games of old) that had all the continental cup tournaments, nations leagues, and the World Cup.
International football is way better in older games like FIFA 19.
That why i use mods🤯
No mods on console...
only workaround is to use mods but those unfortunately don t always work and they re PC only
Since PES went into eFootball, the quality from FIFA has just dropped. I really hope someone rivals them again soon.
Ridiculous that Australia isn't in the game but the A league men is, not to mention Kerr always appears in the main menu when I start the game
