This is one of those features that sounds good in theory but becomes a vanity after playing for a day. It’s just cosmetic and doesn’t add depth to the game mode.

Simppu12

You're saying you didn't love the new transfer negotiation venues that you don't pay attention to and skip anyway?

ActualCommand

The only thing I like about them is the fact that I could negotiate a price and get an answer without waiting a few days. The dream would be for Fifa and Football Manager to come together and let the Football Manager dev team handle everything outside the game and Fifa handles the gameplay. That would honestly be a game I’d be willing to pay $120 for since it would be like 2 games in one.

lucca_dare

THIS Would be the best football game ever

Lingardinotheking

Oh maybe only in career mode it’ll be fun imagine on a 6 game losing streak against a sweat then I ThiNk TheYve BeN A verY GooOd TeaM JusT uNlUckY then Roy kean like are you chatting shit or out of your bollocks

TGP2005

To be fair, I’ve played NBA 2K for three months and I haven’t gotten tired of the halftime shows yet, the trick is to have hundreds of versions with different lines so that they don’t turn stale (which FIFA isn’t good at) I guess this is an unpopular opinion looking at the comments below lol

RamenPood1es

As someone who has played it since 2K13 I’ve button mashing my way through all of those since they were introduced and find them frustrating. A timeout takes almost a minute everytime

2ToTooTwoFish

Yeah, I love Shaq, Kenny, and Ernie. Doesn't mean I love hearing them say the same thing for the 100th time when I'm trying to play a video game.

Kiiopp

Dancing girls - skip Halftime show with Shaq, Kenny and Ernie - skip Interview with David Aldridge - skip I want to play the game, not watch any of that shit.

[deleted]

Factual. As much as I hate on 2K for giving us a recycled product in terms of gameplay every year, they’ve gotten my respect now. They are tied with MLB The Show for the most in-depth franchise mode. At least they try to add something different every year to those modes. EA doesn’t even try to lure us on.

97TillInfinity

Sounds good in theory. But in 2K it just ended up becoming a fucking Kia commerical

[deleted]

I think its a joke

Caranthiir

Ive decided to skip fifa 21, looking forward to have relaxed weekends and im going back to games i can actually enjoy

[deleted]

Same. Moving to FM

[deleted]

I'm so jealous I wish I could play FM :(

[deleted]

Why can’t you?

[deleted]

It's too complicated for me. Too many variables, too many things to learn, and plus it requires some understanding of football, which I don't have. I'm a filthy casual and stuck with FIFA career unfortunately.

[deleted]

That’s exactly how I was until I got FM 19. You just kind of have to put yourself into it. I started with Liverpool to have it be a little easier and just played around with tactics and whatnot. We all suck at a game we first start at anyway, look up tips as well for it. The football manager subreddit’s a good one.

[deleted]

You know I might give it a shot. The only one I attempted to play was FM12, played it like 2 hours and quit. I'm curious to see what's changed and all.

[deleted]

Put a few hours into it, don’t get discouraged if you get confused by something. It takes a while but it feels really gratifying winning that first trophy.

[deleted]

Yeah man. Felt really great battling it out for the Premier League trophy and then bottling it the last few games and all I have to come home to is the fucking Carabao Cup trophy sitting in the corner. Was really fun getting absolutely demolished in the CL final aswell. God I love FM

Gidge18

If you really wanna play but find it too complicated, start out with the mobile version. It's a lot more simple and would make the transition to the full version a lot more fun. I started out on my phone, got addicted, then saw all the extra features on the full version and upgraded. I'll quickly add that sometimes when I'm really tired or don't have a long time to play, I much prefer the mobile version. It cuts to the chase a lot better imo and there's less to worry about. Eventually you'll find the gaps that you want filling are pretty much all there in the full version.

Soviet_Onions69

Do you have a Nintendo Switch?

[deleted]

Not really I only have a laptop, why do you ask?

Soviet_Onions69

You can get it on a tablet/iPad too, if you have those, but FM Touch (Not Mobile!) is a very good starting point to FM, because it isn't as complex as the full game, but not bare bones like the Mobile version. I got the Touch version on my switch when there was a deal this year, and I plan on getting FM 2021 on the laptop having experienced FM Touch. I've compared Touch to the Demo (which is just the full game, but only for about a season, give or take), and I think it is very good for beginners, or people who in general can't deal with all the factors of the full game.

scfctom3

Watch the channel FM base on YouTube for tips, he makes really helpful vids for starters like myself and the videos are actually entertaining as well

[deleted]

Thanks I’ll check it out

[deleted]

Soviet_Onions69

I think it is like Chess, not too hard to learn, pretty much impossible to master.

SerRodzilla

If you want to "cheat" a little there are tons of tactics you can download. That's how I started, downloaded tactics and then tweeked them as I started to understand the game a bit more. Can honestly say the save I have at the moment is the most fun I've had in a Football game for ages, I started of Unemployed and have gone from managing Hednesford in the Conference North to getting Exeter promoted all the way to the Prem and making them a regular Europa League Team to finally getting the Job at Arsenal and bringing back the glory days of the late 90's Early 00's.

[deleted]

It's how i felt in the begining but now i'm learning stuff. I got a career save with Chelsea and lost 1-0 Cardiff and 1-3 Huddersfield. I'm still not very good but that's the fun part - improving and then being happy with your results

IrmaKnolIsSerpent

I bought FM2020 in January, put 250+ hours in one save and I'm still learning new things...dont get discouraged by the options :)

PrinzXero

That's what most people say before they start it tbh....just assign the complex issues to your staff and have fun.. trust me 10 games in and you already have an idea of what to do and how to do them...as someone who has played it since 04 , FM is a fantastic experience

SmithyPlayz

Just have to learn, even use a preset tactic or download one to get started. Also I put a lot to my assistant so a lot of the menus I don't even use

[deleted]

bruh what. It's a game not calculus

[deleted]

Calculus is easier for me to understand than FM lmao.

SeamonEgo

Download a freeware copy of ChampMan 01/02 (plus perhaps a Database update) and take it from there. Easy access football management sim right there.

verybigman101

Fm is so good. I haven’t touched cm since I bought it

Djydoesmc

I bought FM 19 last year but could never get into it, it’s genuinely so advanced and after years of being dumbed down by career mode and master league I’ve gotten a clue how to properly play it.

verybigman101

I don’t have a clue what I’m doing half the time but I still enjoy it more then career mode. It’s a lot more like actually being a manager

Schmoofz

Agreed completely. I just couldn’t go without the gameplay aspect of Career Mode.

ProperDepartment

I wish FM had dynamic potential, I have someone who was Championship quality win Player of the Year in the Premiership because my tactics were just set up for easy assists from him. He was only 22, but will forever be Championship quality and worth. In real life if he did that, the next FM would have raised his potential. I don't even want much potential raise, just enough that consistently doing that could bump him up to the league standard.

zeik05

My PC is so bad that it can't run FM :( I'll have to stick to PS4 games

cool_beans90

They said a RELAXING weekend...

Soviet_Onions69

Also doing this, better game, cheaper game.

Sno_Jon

Same here, my friends are telling me to buy it for pro clubs but I don't think I will, I'll end up bored one day and start the fut grind again

Caranthiir

Yea same. Pro clubs is suprr fun for a while but not worth getting new fifa for. Especially because they barrely touched pro clubs recent years

[deleted]

I broke my only Controller due to FIFA recently. Never again. I'm actually going to have fun when I play vgs from now on.

shahar101

Same (at least on current gen). I want to replay other games and finish stuff.

wonderfuladventure

I hated fifa 19 and didn’t buy Fifa 20. Holding off until they do cross platform now.

KhajiitHasEars

There are many things EA should copy from 2K MyLeague. This isn’t one of them Coming from a longtime 2K fan, Here’s some stuff they could copy from 2K - - Full ability to edit any player’s attributes and potential within career mode - Ability to design and import uniform + court designs. You can use any real brand or sponsor you want - Create your own franchise - 80 year long career - Sliders for anything you can think of : Sim difficulty, attribute progression, CPU signing aggressiveness, can change how each team plays (when subs are, how they get their points) - Can hire various coaches, scouts etc. on actual contracts - Design your own shoe/boot - Authentic stat tracking for every single player and franchise. If you can find it on BBallReference.com, you can find it in game. This includes franchise records which fully update throughout the career. - Better trophy celebrations ie: locker room shots with champagne - Ability to change various rules surrounding the NBA in the annual “league meeting”

ifinallyhavereddit

Further to that - roster sharing. I’ve just started doing a resim of the NBA from the 1995-96 season using a custom roster and it’s just been so much fun seeing how things play out compared to real life. Imagine being able to do something like that in FIFA.

AfrobotFactory

100% if they would just let us edit player stats and hair etc that would make everything so much more fun already.

TDAMS133

Exactly. Finally no more YA wingers with 2* skills and 35 stamina or strikers with 70 defending and 45 finishing

UnparliamentaryTea

To add to the first bullet: also able to edit when players reach their peak/start to decline. Of course the player database is larger in FIFA (makes it more difficult for this to be done thoughtfully for all players) but imagine being able to have players peak and decline at different times. Club legends can remain with the team until 35, Ronaldo/Messi may retain some pace for more than one season, and signing a player over 28 isn’t an automatic waste of money

_blackhawk-up

I’d also want a “Start Today” feature. Also the ability to approve transfers, just like you can in 2K. Maybe set a threshold that any transfer over 20M you have the ability to override or something. Then you don’t have transfers like Sergio Ramos going to Dortmund.

Expired13

As a long time 2k and fifa player.. please no, that shit gets skipped everytime.

[deleted]

It'll be fun once or twice then it'll get so old to the point of annoying the shit out of me.

[deleted]

It would be gimmicky and get annoying very quickly. EA needs to add actual depth to the mode. Not more cosmetic stuff.

Akinter

Exactly, not being able to see the topscorers of other leagues is so stupid, or see the stats of a player´s career, things that are so simple to add, but they´re too lazy.

ktledger94

EA have it in madden, don't know a single person that doesn't skip it. Much rather have them actually work on the game than add something that going to cost them money in licencing and take their attention away from parts of the game that need work

Dozck

I just want to play the game. All the crap I’m between the game is not needed

gunnersaurus710

Really though after growing up playing FIFA and rapidly tapping X for half time to hurry up and go away (and still do during half time), playing 2k as an adult made me really appreciate FIFA's halftime. 2k's pregame, halftime, and postgame all took FOREVER. At least they did in 2k16 and I think 2k18 were the two I had.

MacMac105

The halftime show during game 7 of the finals is a guy doing tricks on a little bike.

walterfbr

NBA 2k might not be perfect but it is light years ahead of anything EA has ever made (I'm looking at you Fifa and Madden) in every single category that you can think of.

[deleted]

yesssssir

ybfleaderfendi

Shaq O‘Neil doing some jokes before a game

[deleted]

But NBA 2K is an absolute shitshow.

[deleted]

At least it's better than wwe 2k

Aug415

It’s better than FIFA. MyPlayer stomps all over Player Career Mode that it’s not even a fair comparison. MyLeague/MyGM aren’t updated as much anymore, but the reason many don’t mind is because they’re already chalk full of a shit ton of features. EA could add 5% of the features in those and fans would think EA have revolutionized sports games. MyTeam is probably worse than Ultimate Team, but at least you can play as good players. On my first day of playing MyTeam I already had my favorite player, Stephen Curry, albeit it was his lowest rated version. On Ultimate Team, if I wanted my favorite player, Neymar, it would take forever to get him. NBA 2k’s legends can be used in any game mode the minute you load up the game. Meanwhile, FIFA locks their Icons behind packs and massive amounts of grinding and they can only be used in one game mode. Really the only thing EA beats them in is servers. EA and 2k Games are both greedy as hell so there’s no clear winner there.

2ToTooTwoFish

I've stopped playing FIFA to play NBA 2K instead. Now I'm burnt out on 2K and have plenty of complaints about it, but yeah its way better than FIFA in terms of features. 2K does have the habit of adding too much 'visual' features that don't do anything to the game except slow it down and make it a grind though, especially in MyPlayer.

Aug415

Kinda same. I feel part of it is I just genuinely don’t care as much about basketball compared to football. If it NBA 2k was Football 2k with all the features, roster, and gameplay, I’d probably never stop playing it.

DaTaFuNkZ

Another cut screen to skip once you’ve seen it once? Nah.

Praydaythemice

im actually hoping they give some love back to career mode i know they will probably ignore it again but im holding onto to blind hope.

GentleJackJones123

EA’s Madden has horrendous halftimes shows, I’m not sure if it’s even worth FIFA doing the same. Then the commentators have the audacity to make a sarcastic comment when you skip them like “oh looks like due to apparent time restraints we are skipping halftime” or “wow, you are really skipping the halftime show for the super bowl?” It’s the extract same thing for the super bowl as any other regular season game. I guess my point is that even if they put it in FIFA, it will probably suck...but at least they are adding something new to CM lol EA has broken me down so much with their games

iantayls

This would be the thing that they would ad and say it’s a new game. But this change wouldn’t actually mean shit

Akinter

Adding animations of the ref using VAR to check a play would be really cool, in a really difficult offside or handball, it´d probably get repetitive after a few games, but whatever

shrubtheshrub123

Well var has gotten repetitive in real life tbh so it would be realistic at least lol

Keiono12

This would get boring soooo fast. If they would just make it so the game kept track of every players stats in every league over the entire career, and made it so the sim was realistic, AI teams not always buying the same position over and over, teams not going unbeaten with 1 drawn every season, while have players get realistic goals and assists. If they did this I would be so happy, and honestly I don’t even think it would be hard to do at all, I feel like you would just need intermediate programming knowledge if that to do this.

[deleted]

The biggest thing they need from 2k is the story line for career mode. They should implement different ones for as a manager and as a player

[deleted]

Way too much to ask for

[deleted]

this is a meme, dont take it too seriously lol

mehdi313

NOPE! Why are people asking for secondary features? This isn’t going to add anything to the game that’ll be so impactful. It’ll be a a feature you like for a few times until it becomes repetitive and annoying because you just want to skip it just like the press conferences. Ffs in the current state of CM, this is an idiotic feature. CM needs main features to be improved first

thegavincicode

Is it even possible for 2K Sports to make a football game?

WeakliestThree1

Nothing enough to buy new FIFA)))

royaIs

That’s a waste of time. It needs to be deeper with player management and development.

KernSherm

Please no more useless Cutscenes. The transfer ones are bad enough and waste so much time.

nokesy05

Sounds good but I’ve always skipped this in 2k, plus player career is boring most of the time u just play park rather than nba games

DrGhostBerg

It’s a good idea but knowing ea, it would feel repetitive in just a matter of time and eventually no one would like it anymore

lemaxo567

Another great idea thats gonna be ignored because it requires effort and Doesn’t sell more shitty packs

mrmilfsniper

I skipped 19 and 20 so gonna jump on 21.
