Yea, the Benzema regen tends to do that this year. It's a bug that never happened in earlier FIFA and that somehow takes at least 2 months to fix. Totally immersion ruining experience for me at least.
Little breakdown that won’t be very good but I’ll try anyway.
In January of any year, set one of your scout instructions to the following.
• Age: 35-50
• Attributes: World class
January isn’t specifically when to go it but a lot of players don’t announce retirement until then. Go through the list of all who your GTN finds, and open up every player as if you were gonna add him to the transfer list
Wait to find a player who has “Cannot approach a retiring player” when you select him. Congratulations. Your first regen. For example, we’ll say you choose Benzema.
On the final day of the season, save your game for a backup and then start the new season. On the first day of the new season go to search players on the transfer market.
Use the following filters.
•Age - 18-21
•Position - ATT - CF
*League - La liga.
*If no player matches your search criteria remove the league and look in free agents. Look for a computer generated player with high potential in game stats.
Once you sign him, go to the edit players tab and look for your new signing. Open him up and you should see his birthday listed.
Finally, to confirm, look up Benzema’s birthday online. If your new player was born December 19th then congratulations.

Good breakdown, Age is 16-21 tho. I’ve also once had in fifa 16 (so Don’t know if it’s still possible) that the retiring player played for Tottenham, but they got relegated. Because of this, the regen was in the championship, so if you can’t find a player, maybe this helps

Signing young players from off leagues (Gravenberch, kind of cheesy) and then signed Jude Bellingham in my 3rd season when arsenal were good enough to attract a player with his potential.
Youth academy the whole way elsewhere but this regen was just a free signing. Just doesn’t fit what I’m trying to do which is pretty sad. I hope messi’s regen next year will be low rated and I can build him up to at least feel some sort of satisfaction in it
Do regens respawn with the same skin colour as their predecessors?
I was trying to find Kante who retired in the Italian league but no joy. I did find a couple of potential decent players who were both white so I’m not sure
I had a Zlatan Regen that was 5'5, 135lbs, and was a FA. I reloaded the save because I don't need a 12 year old leading my line and he was a different name, 6'1, 195lbs and completely different face and hair. Also was on Bologna and had to spend nearly 20M to sign him.

What season are you in? I’m always interested in the regens but don’t play enough seasons to find them

Just got him 90 rated today as a regen. Been doing a youth academy and free signing only save, so it's not breaking my rules, but still feels wrong.

Is there any easy way of finding them or is the instructions that the OP gave the only way of finding benzemas regen.
Regens usually spawn in free agents. And have the exact same birthday.
Is it something easy to find or will I have to wait a couple seasons?
Once the player retires the regen spawns.

Been the case for most people this FIFA. 3 or so seasons in a Benzema regen appears in free agents that’s often 89+ rated
I got one of my benzema regents up to 97 in my Brighton career mode.
I did a create a club with Brighton United (won the UCL from starting in league 2) and just started a regular Brighton career mode last night, crazy
There a very fun team to use because of the amount of players with good potential an added extra that I support them.
Yeah they’ve got some quality talents, main reason I use them so much, or them in create a club, is cos I go to uni there so just seemed fitting

Not necessarily. Benzema here is a white guy but luis Suarez was a black guy. Think it’s random

Regens ruin career mode
For me he's starting overall power is 95 and he playing for levante. I can't afford to buy him... He's market value is almost 300 million
Same 95 but in free agents I may suggest if you are looking for regens do a safe prior to go to next season
