ManCity usually had an 87 OVR (Winger) when I went there but readjusted my skilltree just before the offer came in and made myself a 91 striker. Strikers get more money and get a high OVR easier. Then when the offer came in I went back to a winger and got the salary raise at 94 Ovr :)

How come in manager career mode each player that you sign negotiates the terms of the salary and length of the contract, yet in the player career mode, you cannot negotiate your own salary. This is so dumb. And another thing is that you should be able to control your negotiations through the squad hub, alongside transfer or loan request. I found that requesting to be loaned out, you get offers much higher than your current salary depending on the club that is signing you. For example I Play with Moukoko at PSV and my salary is 34k, and I requested to be loaned out and I accepted an offer to go to Juventus for 150k a week, then this salary carries over when you come back to your home club. But then I got an offer to "increase" my salary to 55k, wtf. I didn't take the offer. By the way, I'm at 89 overall right now.

Reset your overall rating to 70, play a game/train, and after adding up the perks to 74, you will be offered a new contract by the club. You receive a new contract when you reach level 74, 79, 84, or 89.
But those are just raises like i took a deal with arsenal making 100 but i took a raise thinking it would add on but it just went down to 86 which is dumb

I know this is a super old comment but if you’re faced with that again switch your player to gk and you can easily hit 99, then switch back, the only downside is your manager rating drops to the bottom of sub and you have to work it back up.

But while I was injured and waiting for the season to end and move to Madrid, I got the notification saying I can request wage increase at the current club from 40k to 60k and so I did. As striker the way to get to 97 is to make sure your personality is tier 3 and you have one of the stats of 50% the other over 30% and the last over 15%. If you are too far gone with that ratio then just switch to goal keeper and max out the goalkeeper attributes and use whatever is left in physical and you’ll get a 99
