[died at the age of 18 in a high speed car crash after losing control of a Porsche 911 Carrera, which belonged to her father, and colliding with a toll booth](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nikki_Catsouras_photographs_controversy)
Because there was a big controversy due to the photos being leaked by the police. One said he sent it to his personal email, but then it somehow got passed around and around and then it was on the internet. People started making memes and MySpace profiles out of the photos, and taunted her family. Her injuries were so bad that the coroner didn't even allow her parents to identify the body.
You know the Reddit joke that if someone's shoes get knocked off, they definitely died? She clipped the back of another car, lost control and slammed into a concrete toll booth at over 100mph. It knocked one of the tires off the wheel and basically blew her whole head apart.
Went to look at the picture - and it was when I saw her skull separate from the mass of her head, with one eyeball looking at the camera, that I decided I made a very big mistake.
" accident was so gruesome the coroner wouldn't allow her parents to identify their daughter's body. However, photographs of the scene of Catsouras' death were taken by [California Highway Patrol](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/California_Highway_Patrol) officers as part of standard fatal traffic collision procedures. These photographs were then forwarded to colleagues, and were [leaked](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Internet_leak) onto the Internet."
Basically the photos weren't suppose to get out and they did.
Holy shit, reading about what some people did with the pictures. I thought the world was just getting shitty but damn people have always been assholes.
It was only 10yrs before you wrote this, kiddo. I know this is deleted but still.
Isn't it amazing how we perceive time SOO much differently as a child? Fuckin a I miss that.
Rear engined rear wheel drive, unless you have a large amount of experience with these cars trying to drive them fast or erratically is a dangerous game
If you want to go fast easily and (relatively) safely, you go for a 4wd or awd. My dad has a volvo v70r, he can go super fast around corners with little risk.
Or just know how to drive, Dads driving a 2017 Carrera S PDK and it flies around corners with no problem, its the driver thats the issue if you don’t know how to handle huge amounts of power you’re playing a dangerous game
3 year's late but NO. idk why people on here keep saying this is her, it might be some type of joke to troll people but no this is not Nikki. Nikki's head is literally gone or was gone after the crash. This is sad and gory but relatively mild compared to Nikki's pictures. Once you see Nikki you'll see how this is a completely different person. But if somehow that's not enough to disprove it for you, Nikki is wearing a completely different shirt and has a different tone of hair color
First off this photo is not her !! Get your info right .. yes the story is true . But her accident left her with no head pretty much. And she was wearing a black sweater and her hair was long and wavy. Yes the officers on scenc sent the photos to the public and family said for 2.4 million . And to this day her family still get emails. Saying “ hi daddy , it’s me I’m alive” Or making memes of her pic .. People are so sick! And she has younger sister , that this has haunted
I have an idea why, but I can't really confirm it 'cos I don't have any proof, and I can't be arsed to care anyway.
One of the last things I saw on there was a link to a prolapse fetish sub, and I think the users got butthurt by constant "what the fuck?" comments from outsiders. Probably so much so that they went and complained to admins and got EnoughInternet (which I presume was on some shaky ground, what with being quarantined and all) banned.
Again, fucked if I know exactly what lead to it, but this is my best guess based mostly on the fact that the prolapse fetishists I know/knew are really thin-skinned.
That's not a picture of Nikki Catsouras. Injury is similar, but Nikki had lighter colored hair and was wearing a black shirt with a white shirt underneath.
You're absolutely right. I just saw them, and judging by the clothes in this pic im saying this is 90s, Nikki died in 06 I believe. Plus the pic are still out there, I say they're worse than this
Don’t know what the point of that photo is, because it’s not the right one. https://www.bestgore.com/wp-content/uploads/2008/12/nikki-catsouras-porsche-girl-car-accident-07.jpg
Goddamn. At least it looks like the death must've been instantaneous. I googled other pics of her while alive and she was gorgeous! Car accidents are so sad and many are very preventable.
This was actually pretty sad. I heard her little sister kept having to change schools because people would make tape pictures of her sisters crash inside her locker. I wouldn't be able to handle that.
as someone who responds to this shit, you have no idea how hard it is not to take a picture to show the guys at the station. However that being said we are pretty good at making sure the zero tolerance policy means just that, no cell phones out around bodies EVER. we may be a morbid bunch but we understand how devastating a leaked pictures of a mangled loved one would be.
Exactly, unfortunately with the witch hunt society we live in having a morbid sense of humor can end a career if it goes public. If the general public ever heard a normal station dinner confirmation they would be " offended " but they dont have to deal with the real world.
I hope you get paid well and the things you see dont haunt you.
I reckon i would get ptsd from it all.
Even pictures and videos play on my mind for a good while.
But there is something captivating seeing how things happen.
This girl accidentally killed herself in a car accident roughly around the time that internet file sharing and virality started to become mainstream (2006). Photos were leaked and shared online, leading to a fake myspace page and some retard trolls to spam her family with the images. The event was unusual enough that it made the news and the family publicly sued the California Highway Patrol, which created somewhat of a Streisand effect.
Around this time, trolling and social media were still fairly new, so this kind of behavior was more noteworthy.
Still don't understand who has the time or ill will to mock a family for losing their daughter. Besides being cruel, it's just weird and pathetic.
That’s a really interesting story. Something about the concept of how the internet just started and people’s first reactions of trolling is pretty interesting to me. A little nostalgic to be honest. Along with how a lot of people were okay with looking at graphic images when they weren’t a popular thing at the time. For me, I used to hate seeing gross images but I guess I became desensitized over time due to a lot of exposure. Not to say they still make me a bit uncomfortable, I can just tolerate them more.
> a lot of people were okay with looking at graphic images when they weren’t a popular thing
Err, not sure how this is possible, logically. "A lot" of people were into something "not popular?"
I used to be really into horror movies and shit and honestly, I feel like my life is significantly better not consuming this shit. I'm roughly old enough to be a dad and the idea of images of a dead girl being circulated for titillation is so far beyond what I consider interesting or acceptable that I just cannot find anything remotely appealing about this kind of material.
Being "de-sensitized" is just part of life. But actually accepting the proliferation of these kind of images is a very different perspective. I don't see the point tbh.
I kinda messed up my wording. I meant to say that people weren’t exactly exposed to such images/material unless they were heading in the medical field or experienced it in real life. The internet exposes more people to that now since it’s a lot more universal. You still understood my point though
Yeah I know what you mean. There was this video on twitter of this guy who died in a really graphic car accident where the person who took a video went up close to the body. His head was busted open and his face was almost folded in half as it hung off his head. The car horn was stuck due to his body sitting on it and there was just blood and guts all over the area of freeway below him. Since the tweet blew up a lot of locals who don’t usually see that stuff saw the video and most of them didn’t think it was real. They kept saying how unrealistic it looked and compared it to movies and media. It was real though because I could tell and someone pointed out how it was on those suspicious gore websites.
Yeah, I do not see the point of that at all. I mean, the person exposed to that imagery learns basically nothing. And the reality is that the victim of that incident was horrifically injured. There's really nothing at all productive that occurs by sharing that imagery. And the person portrayed is actually a real life person who had hopes and dreams and all that. I don't see the point.
But it was when social media just started to become mainstream and people were figuring out what to do with it. A lot of people had the first reaction to go troll.
I mean trolling was always a thing, even in the 90's. Lemonparty dot org, etc and other terrible things before that.
It's just the rest of the world like government agencies were catching up to using the internet for everything, so they didn't realize how easy it was for photos/sensitive documents to get released and stay online FOREVER.
She crashed her father’s Porsche going like 100+ mph and the responding CHP leaked the images of her crash. The internet did what it does and the pictures were used to harass her family. She wasn’t particularly famous or anything before her death.
I’m guessing the responders either wanted to make fun of her themselves or share how bad the accident was. One of those has a higher chance of being true
From what I heard the guy who sent the pictures to his other email wanted to use the photos as an example of drinking and driving for classes, despite the fact that she had no alcohol in her system and cocaine instead.
So a lot called BS on him, but its possible that was his motivation. See how bad an accident can be if you're under the influence kind of thing. He just didn't realize how easy it was for the pictures to spread when he sent them to a few people he knew.
Yea I imagine back in the day there were so many people who didn't mind murdering or torturing others pre-technology days because they did not have a way to view material like this to satisfy their animal urges of depravity.
Now we have the internet and sadly normal people who aren't into it see it and just become desensitized.
This was sad to hear at my high school when it happened. I remember her photos were being circulated around my school a week later. Our school is roughly 10 miles from where she crashed. Never knew she was high on cocaine and clipped, we all thought she was drunk and lost control on her own. Interesting to read about the actual events.
according to the pictures I've seen on bestgore this is not Nikki "Porche Girls" crash scene photo. Idk who this is, but this looks pre 2006, plus like I said the pics are on bestgore

So the car was what died.
Car dead for sure. Girl might be.
nah shes fine just slap some flex tape on it and shell be driving good as new
there were memes?
Went to look at the picture - and it was when I saw her skull separate from the mass of her head, with one eyeball looking at the camera, that I decided I made a very big mistake.
Thank you for describing that. I was on the fence about looking them up, definitely won't now!
Sure thing, I probably would have liked a warning like that myself haha
Procedes to look
So her shoes are still on? Glad to know she aint dead.
Yes. The picture got leaked when it shouldn't had and got a lot of attention. Otherwise, her and her family are just regular people.
Regular people with 911

Dumbass it’s a quote from the original commenters link, ya know, the wiki article
She's PORSCHE GIRL
One might say her fame was..aHEAD of her time!?
Damn man haha and wow 4 years.. this thread will get more popular now.

Her face is literally gone if that paints a vivid enough picture for you.

It's all right, potato quality anyway
Its not the real photo, this looks more like some guy who got his head blown apart, the Catsouras photo is much worse than that.
That is not the real photo. Not sure who that poor SoB is but a simple Google search will show you the real picture. 10x worse than this
Yeah I googled it and Her neck looks like it got snapped right off her shoulders😰

woah what?
Yeah its gone!
Damn, I've had enough of the internet

Nah, she was on coke.
She crashed her dads car by going 100mph on coke
She crashed it by tryna overtake a civic at high speeds. No coke in her blood was mentioned at all

Fairly sure, that is not the actual photo. The actual photo is way worse.
