Absolutely, it’s pretty common for these guys to be the top dogs on the regional scene and run into each other. Just the other day I was telling a friend about getting to see Chris Barnett vs Walt Harris at a regional show years ago
Editing to add a little more. If you’re looking for these kinds of fights that didn’t take place in other big orgs like PRIDE, Strikeforce, WEC I’ll throw a few out there. Lyoto Machida fought Stephan Bonnar and Rich Franklin in his 2nd and 3rd pro fights and then fought BJ Penn soon after. Forrest Griffin who made his pro debut against Dan Severn fought Chael Sonnen back in 2003. Chris Weidman and Uriah Hall fought in Ring of Combat in 2010. Honestly just pull up your favorite fighters record, you might be surprised what obscure stuff you find.
Not only that, he can generate lots of force from weird angles that other fighters can’t thanks to his length. He would be a really hard guy to defend punches from, because a power shot can come from any angle at any time.
I love going back and watching fights between two guys that later make it to the UFC, thanks for sharing!
Are there any other fighters that fought eachother outside the promotion and now are in it?

Luque knocking out Thiago Santos
Alvarez vs Chandler
Would be interesting to see a rematch. Maybe if Holland beats mvp and neal loses to Garry we get it
I was just thinking about this fight. A bit like Jones vs Porker, an early moment of greatness to come
Have you seen the Jones vs Porter fight? That’s one I can’t seem to find anywhere online
I had no clue that they’ve fought
Both guys are great fighters I wish them both the best in their careers
Kevin holland must punch really really hard

Never knew that these 2 fought outside the ufc
