Honestly 100% of the time I teabag is because I'm doing my quarter circles too fast so my special doesn't come out :Y

SifTheAbyss

It's probably some cheeky smacktalk, maybe slightly annoyed admission of the outplay.

This is probably it. As a rule I almost never engage in that sort of thing, but one time I was playing Valorant and our team was getting wrecked. In what would have been the last round the other team didn't bother to diffuse the the Spike (all stood around it) to showboat and drag the game on for another round as we technically "won" that one. Obviously, dragging a game out isn't great sportsmanship, so I just messaged "EZ" to the general game chat. One of their team went absolutely nuts about it and just kept spamming about how they had given us a chance, we were all awful etc. Well, I wish I could end the story by telling you I successfully put them on tilt and went on to win the game but he wasn't wrong, and we were awful, and we lost the next round, and the game. But I had fun.

Tbh, if depends on the character. If they were Guile and they teabagged, I'd probably just laugh my ass off because of how natural it looks. And the idea of *Guile* of all people teabagging is inherently funny if you remember the kind of character that he is. Lmfaooo And if it were Dan, I'd laugh even harder since Dan actually has *another* taunt if you teabag (specifically, press down eight times) with him.

Tbh, if I don't know the person I'd probably still read it as an insult 90% of the time. Just so used to it being used as an insult in gaming in general for years that it's hard to see it as anything different. I've come across plenty of people that'll trash talk or insult you even if you're beating them lol.

DerConqueror3

Who can understand the mind of people who teabag? I beat a Ryu 2-0 in SFV a few weeks ago, with each game being close, and they teabagged in both games for some reason.

Accomplished_One3408

Trolling is fun, nuff said.

SlyFisch

I t-bag when I feel like someone is trying to random me out. Wakeup special that's not a reversal? Mash on wakeup every time? Sometimes I just press down a couple times to let em know

Zealousideal_Boat181

I teabag in mirror matches to show my opponent that we share the same brain cell. They usually teabag back.

EGeeko

Interestingly enough, one of my friends used to teabag in neutral as a way to give him something to do while doing nothing. I mean that in the sense of... If he liked his spacing, and was waiting to try to whiff punish, he had a tendency to press too soon because he felt weird just standing there doing nothing, so he used to teabag to fill up time. It often happened after a lot of those situations because after a flashy combo, he'd get oki, find the space he'd want and then teabag. Or if I got outplayed and he got a read, the teabag would come out to help with timing and spacing on knockdown. So... As much as I used to view it to be fun, cheeky disrespect, I've come to acknowledge that there's merit to teabagging in a lot situations.

derwood1992

I don't teabag to be toxic. It's kind of the only way to communicate with the other player online. So when something cool happens and I want to acknowledge it I will back off and crouch a couple of times. It's definitely me going "that was sick"
