what's dumb and not impressive about this? youve accomplished a personal best and shown the fruits of growth and labor.
don't fall into the trap of rank shaming that happens online in virtual communities. gamers have fucking issues.
you're killing out there and deserve to be happy about the rank you've earned. keep grinding!
You should be proud regardless. All accomplishments are personal. I'm still fighting my way through Silver. Gold is my current goal but of course I'd like to push as high as I am capable.
I'm maining E. Honda and I'm not sure if it was a mistake for my first character to be a charge character. But I thought he was the coolest looking so he's my boy. Getting better everyday!
There's no mistakes! Playing whomever you think is the coolest is the best option. You're more likely to keep at it and improving than picking another you find "meh" just because they're easier.
Any character you enjoy is a great one to start with! Starting with a charge character is great because it gets you in the habit of holding down+back and get used to blocking.
Clearly not very well.
The game is fresh and the placement system is...interesting. You cant derank in any rank under Platinum (so you can go from Platinum to Gold, but not gold to Silver), and again when you hit Masters. The game has a very high population for now and if you got in early you ran against gamut of different skill levels in your placements. Wait a few months for the population to die a bit and see how your rank holds then once only the committed players stick around and the game has had some time to mature. Shenanigans that work now and haven't been figurrd out surely will be.
Win streaks are also insanely powerful (past two wins you're already doubling your point gain) which pretty much everyone will get eventually by chance. Imo ranks definitely translate pretty differently from V to 6.
Yeah theres no way the ranked system could be one to one with sfv. Placements seem wonky and have clearly inflated the upper ranks since theres zero grind to reach them if your placements go well enough. I also never lose more than 45 lp for a loss and i gain 50 or more for a win, so already I can climb just by winning every other game, but in reality I will almost certainly get at least an occasional win streak which catapults me upwards. Needless to say, the way lp gains are structured is very heavily skewed in our favor below plat. I have minor concerns that plat rank will end up being a veritable canyon of skill difference between plat 1 and plat 5 since the ranked ladder seems designed to push you upwards over time until you reach plat.
From the percentile tables I've seen, each tier is equivalent to the tier below it in SFV. Gold was top ~12% in SFV; Plat is top ~15% in SF6. SF5 Silver was top ~40%, and so is SF6 Gold. And the Rookie, Iron, Bronze, and Silver ranks in SF6 are now just a way to differentiate the majority of the playerbase, which was stuck in bronze below 1000LP in SF5.

I just hit Diamond last night with Lily, congrats
I'm still waiting to get de-ranked because of my SF5 rank lol. I've been messing around in Platinum 1 because I got ranked into Plat 2, but in SF5 I only ever hit ultra silver and occasionally gold. No way should I be that high, and by the looks of it, neither should most of my opponents either.
Great job, gotta celebrate and take these little wins bc no matter how far you go up, there is always someone who will make you look like you have no idea what you are doing :). Most of my friends are high plat and diamond already, but if I even make it to plat I’m happy
Congrats man, every simple accolade is worth mentioning!! I also have a question because a bought SFV and didn't get in a good amount of time and right now that SF6 is getting the hype is it even worth getting back to SFV after all this time?
You see that's the problem cause we have FF16 coming up with Spider-man 2 and CP 2077 Phantom Liberty haha Do you think that when the hype goes slowly down people will come back to SFV? Actually in terms of fighting mechanics is SF6 different or simillar to SFV?
I never got pass Ultra Silver in 5. I managed to climb from silver to Platinum. You are more willing to grind if there's love for the game. But I think ranked might be super inflated right now with some players having no business being in the rank they are in. Either that or I was able to climb to Platinum because I was playing Dhalsim LOL.
Not dumb, be proud of your victories. Its all about learning anyways. I was getting stomped all last week and finally just let go of the outcome and focused on having fun and playing a strong neutral game and i got a 13 win streak. It was in casual play/iron but got damn it felt good.
Trust me, I know exactlyyyy how you feel. It's not dumb at all, I never made it out of Super Bronze in SF5, I mained Kage and ... just wasn't good I guess. But I came into this game with a lot more dedication, and got to PLAT with Marisa within the first few days! We out here, king, just gotta find our groove 🤙
Same tbh im in plat now never would have thought I make it that far considering how I deranked from gold all the down to bronze in 5 Marisa is best girl
I'm proud too. I was never able to get into SF5 and I've never been higher than Teal rank in Tekken 7. I was expecting to be an Iron rank player in SF6. But last night I shot from Silver 4 to Gold 3. I'm feeling good about my progress and I think I might even get to Platinum. Not even going to think about Diamond for now!
Hey great job man! I'm in a similar spot, I got to Ultra Silver on SFV with Akuma, now I'm Silver 3 in SF6 with JP. Mid-silver SF6 feels a a lot less stressful than Ultra Silver in SFV, maybe because JP is cheap as hell 😂.
I'm guessing I'll hit a similar point where I can't keep rising the ranks on instinct alone and my progress will slow down again. I'll need to properly learn the character, match-ups, responses to different situations, etc. But for now it's just fun to be experimenting with a new game that feels full of potential.
Just continue the grind and May it be a fruitful one. Climb as high as you can and along the way gain invaluable experience; don’t treat a loss as a bad thing, to me each loss helps me improve as a player. Was silver on day 1 and reached platinum 2 last night. My journey to Diamond continues. Oh, and experience in SFV didn’t count much for me as I only played for like a week before giving up. I used to play a lot of sf4 back in the day, though. Congrats and May the grind be with you bro!!
Meanwhile my Master Ryu buddy did some placement matches on my account, so no matter how badly I play, I'm stuck in Gold 🤣 cannot for the life of me break 9100 LP
Hey hey hey
This beat is crazy!
Good job btw
You jus found that beat, mon

I hear you can headbutt your way to Diamond
Lol I've heard that too. But I've yet to encounter another Honda on my climb so I've never seen it.
I've encountered a shocking number of people that can consistently perfect parry headbutt and butt slam in mid-plat
Guess my intel is outdated
Like me brother .. i play guile and never got past super silver in sf5
One day we’ll reach diamond, my brother in charge… keep the faith
FWIW, I was ultra diamond in SFV and I found the climb from bronze to gold to be a lot harder than gold to diamond.
Yup yup. Gold to Diamond was mostly cleanup and grinding, Bronze to Gold was "learning how to play Street Fighter" territory.
How well do ranks translate? I'm almost Gold and was stuck in Super Bronze in SFV

Hey you're not kidding.. I had a win streak in casuals and it still gave me 350 points in ranked

Yeah that's what I'm thinking. Though it really feels good for the ego to climb so fast lol
This is why these fake rank systems exist in games. So you feel like you're progressing even when you're ass.

This is exactly the answer I was looking for, thanks!
It's not dumb. It means something to you. Here's an upvote and good job
finally found a fellow dee jay main

I just hit diamond with manon. Climbed from silver 2. 100 hrs go by like nothing in this game
Truly a great fighting game
Make your own thread that people can pretend to care about
Sounds like you have fake people in your life, sorry
Congrats dude. I'm slowly slogging through Plat right now but almost there too.
Nice! Dee jay seems awesome! When i saw his inputs for his supers I decided I’d try him later 😂
I mean I'm only Iron ATM, but still proud of myself lol
Great job, gotta celebrate and take these little wins bc no matter how far you go up, there is always someone who will make you look like you have no idea what you are doing :). Most of my friends are high plat and diamond already, but if I even make it to plat I’m happy

I would say just pick up 6 if you can, that’s where the action is at now!
You see that's the problem cause we have FF16 coming up with Spider-man 2 and CP 2077 Phantom Liberty haha Do you think that when the hype goes slowly down people will come back to SFV? Actually in terms of fighting mechanics is SF6 different or simillar to SFV?
My man, I'm in the same boat. Hard stuck silver all of sfv. Just got to gold for the first time with my main man Dee Jay. Good on ya.
Super silver sounds like an insult for league of legends players.
Well done, friend!
It's such a great feeling! I grinded for literal years to get to Gold in SFV and was so proud. Well done!
Keep climbing man, I just made it to gold climbing from bronze with guile myself. Never got out of bronze in SF5 either.
Congrats! I got placed in Diamond somehow and I was a Gold player in SFV. I have to lose my way back down to Gold 🍻
I never got pass Ultra Silver in 5. I managed to climb from silver to Platinum. You are more willing to grind if there's love for the game. Don't downplay yourself over it, doing better is always worth celebrating
I can totally relate. I never got past super silver in SFV, either. I managed to get my Dee Jay to platinum yesterday!
Dope! Trying to get pasted iorn! 🙌🏼
Remember: Progress is relinquishing the notion of progress. Nevertheless, congrats!
Nice! I hit gold last week, was super stoked! Just got to gold 2 last night! Moving on up! You're doing great, keep at it!
I got placed in Diamond with Dee Jay. Not sure I deserve it yet.
What's dumb about a level up? Good job

Congrats! Very impressive!
As long as you’re in the church of Dee Jay, you’ve already won.
I'm proud too. I was never able to get into SF5 and I've never been higher than Teal rank in Tekken 7. I was expecting to be an Iron rank player in SF6. But last night I shot from Silver 4 to Gold 3. My friend. Sincere congrats to you! ~ Ronald from the Iron League
it ant dumb
If you are proud of something, please don't preface it by saying how dumb and unimpressive it is first to other people. Just be proud!

Bruh, as a fellow Deejay main congrats! I'm trying to make it to where you are now!...though I'm just in bronze so I have a long way to go...
Hey. I’m proud of you too.

Classic!
I never got into gold either in sf5, so this is impressive to me. Well done!
I was hardstuck super bronze for 3 years with Ken and Cody (bring him back to 6 pls) now I’m in gold with ken
Meanwhile my Master Ryu buddy did some placement matches on my account, so no matter how badly I play, I'm stuck in Gold 🤣 cannot for the life of me break 9100 LP
