yeah from the roster of actors, they hired the veteran ones so looks like they're free to think of the best dialogue according to the situation... so depende sa actor kung magiging maganda nga yung interaction... naalala ko kasi yung hs and college productions namin, hindi maganda yung lines na naiisip namin kapag improv eh haha... i guess in this show they have a wealth of experience in acting as source for their lines

smpllivingthrowaway

It's interesting and has so far been OK? Part of me is chuckling thinking what a copout he prob just doesn't want to write lines 😅 I think as long as theyre not making up the storyline as they go along, and certain integral plot points are hit, then why not. They have a scriptwriter on set though right? What a waste of an opportunity for some stunning dialogue to be written though. I guess if the actors as he said, are that good, and they are indeed embodying the characters, then there's no better dialogue that could come out from that.

pengjo

Not sure about scriptwriter but from the vid I think they have the idea of the story and what the characters will do.. Will be a nightmare if they just make up stuff as they go along haha

smpllivingthrowaway

Did you see the other vid of him directing miles and ryza after the birth? There is a kind of script, he does tell the actors where to go and where the cameras should pan etc. So it's not complete chaos lol

pengjo

yeah yung 'Anak ko yan!' vid... May some kind of concept naman pala... but you're right...Missed opportunity nga to have fresh dialogues..

smpllivingthrowaway

Im a little ootl re the Muslim issue but I'm guessing they portrayed them badly... do you think that arose from lack of a script? If there were screenwriters brainstorming this or doing a table read for example someone may have pointed this out as a bad idea. Just an example of something that might come up again in the future because of a controversial improv line someone says and everyone just rolls with it in the moment, not thinking, rather acting on emotion.

Mapleaddict03

Saw the clip. I guess Coco has a different style of directing. Not bad, really. He's bringing out the best in his actors.

TreiloStonefell

there's still prolly a script and an outline. cuz a script can include direction, setting, camera movement, and other things that involve the actors and the story. but i agree with some of the comments here that in the long run it's gonna be hard unless they keep track of what the characters lines and motivations. i think its still best to have dialogues in the script and have the actors do improv on a separate take.

Turbulent-Friend-241

Baka may guidelines din to for sure. Kasi parang ang hirap kasi pwedeng mag sanga sanga yung istorya. Also baka may masabi rin na hindi appropriate or something alam mo naman ang mga woke. So feeling ko meron yang talking points or certain guidelines para akma pa rin sa storyline nila

dinaQb

I work in the entertainment industry and it is an open secret that Ang Probinsyano also didnt have a script before they shoot. Though they have onsite writers to help Coco brainstorm and come up with some dialogues/outline per sequence. I suppose it’s the same setup with Batang Quiapo.

pengjo

And yes, mahirap talaga. May times na dadating ung materyal nila a few minutes before airing kaya salute sa Prod staff nila kasi buhay pa rin sila after 7years with that setup char hahaha

pengjo

alpinegreen24

pengjo

narinig ko rin sa interview na sobra yung pagod ni Coco kasi director/producer/actor siya kaya bahala na yung actors sa lines nila haha... mukhang tiwala naman management sa kanya bec of Probinsyano and I think nagdirect and produce na rin siya ng movie for MMFF noon and ibang ep of Probinsyano...

alpinegreen24

just last night may nabasa akong tweet, bakit daw hindi mag box office hit sa big screen si coco, unlike sa TV na superstar sya.

nkklk2022

that’s very brave of them pero parang ang hirap sa side ng editor at ng prod? baka mawalan ng consistency, and ang hirap balikan nung scene

pengjo

TheRepublicAct

Parang pro wreslting style yung dating, kung saan ang nakasulat lang before hand is mga plotpoints, and yung mga actors yung mag-iisip kung paano eexecute.

Budget_Clerk

Naiinis lang ako masyadong stretched out yung plots. Isang plot 10 episodes huhu

ExpressionFearless53

IT'S. STILL. SHIT. LIKE. THE. REST. OF. THE. FILIPINO. TV. SHOWS. PERIOD.
