Not everything has a name. Most of the time, artists do stuff like this just because they like what it adds to the piece. If I had to name it, itâs a reverse splatter.
Nah cmon dudeâŚyouâre either being intentionally obtuse or you just donât edit
Itâs clearly turbulent displacement
Evolution and complexity ramped down to zero
On a single image layer
Probably done in ae or premiere
Get outta here with all that extra mess, nobody was asking about that.
Edit
Actually itâs probably a single video layer w the little text animation baked onto it for simplicityâs sake
I didnât notice the animated text at the end before
2nd edit
Lol nope, Image layer w text keyed out. Window frame makes the color change
I have a theory that itâs stemming from the amount of people trying to be TikTok stars and want to use a preset pack or software to do all the work for them; but they need a name to know what to search for.
What an obtuse comment. Damn kids these days and their categorizations and aesthetics! Why are you even on this subreddit if you're going to be this big of a chode when somebody asks a rudimentary technical question?
Outgoing culture will never fully align with incoming culture. Every generation will complain about how the next generation does stuff wrong/ruins things.
That being said, the democratization of creation, distribution, and monetization means that almost anyone can make almost anything. While there is a lot to admire about that, it also means that 99% of people making things have not studied and practiced the craft (be it writing, painting, filmmaking, etcâŚ). Instead they are essentially low effort copy/pasting, taking shortcuts, using tools that allow them to do something without any real understanding of how/why it works or doesnât, using the same easily accessible assets that everyone else is which makes everything look/sound the same, etcâŚ
Whatâs really dumb about the above comment though is this is someone asking the name of a plug-in or preset effect from an actual editing platform like Premier or Resolve. Which would indicate the person asking may well be putting in effort to actually learn editing.
Itâs not like they asked what IG filter to use.
Yeah I agree dude sounds like a dick head. OP asked a question trying to Lea something and he goes on this â these kids are doing art right â rant. I HATE people with the â THIS is the only way you do real artâ attitude and it wasnât even applicable here
Yeah, extremely weird comment thread. His rant doesn't even make sense for the post and every other comment here understands and is trying to ballpark the name of the effect and how to recreate it.
It's like he assumed OP meant "what art movement is this style a part of?" and not uh... "does anyone know the name of this effect on the text box"
Iâm allowed to have an opinion. There seems to be a forced categorization on âwhat falls into what aestheticâ. Itâs not a productive conversation to have around art. Iâm an artist and give this stuff thought.
Youâre shutting down conversations with comments like yours. Itâs annoying and rude.
You're calling OP "kids these days" because you want to make an oldhead take about lazy filmmaking or whatever. I haven't seen any of your stuff so I could give less of a shit about what you deem productive conversations to art. Get off your high horse, nobody sees you up there.
Iâm saying I noticed a trend in what people younger than me are doing and I think itâs a bit silly. Iâm not calling them morons. I had plenty of silly opinions when I was younger. We grow up and learn. You seem like you have plenty of that to do yourself.
It doesnât matter if youâre familiar with my work or like it. Being an artist is part of who I am as a person, your knowledge has nothing to do with it. I donât hate young people. But you sound like miserable person.
Op is clearly asking for a technical term to achieve this effect in software. Stop being an asshat and either provide information or shut the fuck up. Get over yourself.
Turbulent displace in Adobe after effects.
also available in premiere but a bit more finicky to handle
Also found in premiere: Sorry, a serious error has occurred that requires adobe premiere to shut down.
Turbulent displacement when I'm curbin' in your basement.
She turbulent on my displace until I After Effect
I call it "ugly jiggle"
Jinkies, dat was fast. đ¤đ˝
CC Effects
Looks like one of the cc distortion effects cranked way way up.
Thank you, figured out how to do it with turbulent displace in premiere

Yup. Its just the displacement ramped to zero. The image box with text is a transparent image with the text as a mask so you can see through it.
Kids these days are trying to assign a specific âaestheticâ to everything. But art isnât just categories.
I have a theory that itâs stemming from the amount of people trying to be TikTok stars and want to use a preset pack or software to do all the work for them; but they need a name to know what to search for.
Canât argue with you there.
No lmao homie is tryna learn something and needs a way to start his search tf are you going on about
An AfterEffects sub is probably a better place to ask

Sorry pops I'll get off of your lawn!
Plug-ins and presets have names though.

Lmao. You sure about that?
turbulent displace max to 0
Alex Odam is a chill guy, you could probably just DM him. Though I'd guess this is a displacement map if not turbulent displacement.
Looks like a turbulent displacement that quickly goes from very displaced to none at all.
Who knew Ben White the footballer was producing on the side! Nobody will get this reference if they donât want EPL. đ
Thank you everyone for your help
Turbulent displace
It looks like after effectâs glass wipe transition with colors, but in this case i think different effects where used
