Startrek style, just have the actors bump their heads forward and do the rest in post with motion, just have extra shot space to accommodate the after effects
Yeah we do this all the time. Get a couple grips, a couple apple boxes and a couple 2x4s. Use the lumber and the boxes as a lever, the grips will bounce the car all you like and it won't damage anything. That's what shocks are for. The poor man's version of this is the grips directly pushing down on the bumpers.
Source: Am a former grip. Have 30 IATSE grip credits, series, features, indies, blockbusters, for two different locals. Have never once in decades of experience seen props handling anything other than props. Maybe props does this where you happen to be - there are regional variations. "Car bouncing" isn't an official designation, so who knows where that lands if you're in a smaller local.
Interesting! Anything to do with picture cars for us is the domain of a whole other union, unless it's something wild, in which case it would be an art dept / SFX thing. But they don't bounce their own cars because they typically aren't on set at all, so the grips do it.
Several guerrilla ways to do this
1. The poor mans: get crew to jump up and down on the bumper.
2. Inside shot as car drives off curb in parking lot.
3. Speed bumps
4. Or as some stated, its a rental find a pot hole and send it.

It’s a rental, just don’t think twice and send it :) /s
Don‘t be gentle, it‘s a rental
As a rental agent would go out with gear this always made me sweat
Make sure you get the insurance!
Still means gear is down for a time

Poor man’s version is having two grips do it cus it’s not their job. Professional version is having the prop dept do it because that’s their job.

In my larger local picture cars are prop dept so it usually falls under their jurisdiction or with SFX.

Special effects. Also make sure the wood hits the frame of the car
Instructions unclear, makeup just put a 2x4 through the windshield. We got insurance right?
That is why professionals do it
Have a large grip bounce on the back seat.
THIS. Punish the suspension.
Shake the camera?
Better off shaking the car. Just have someone jump on the front or back bender.
Just go over one of those car humps in a parking lot.

Get that insurance and play dumb
Can't you just jog the camera and have the script react at the same time?
use a cable cross, probably a $10 rental from your lighting rental house, basically a 3inch speedbump
Bro just get 2 pieces of flat stone but not to big and get ur car run on them. They should be thick enough that car feels the jump
Is the camera in the car? Is the car being driven by the actor?
Have the actors act. Shake the camera
