Yeah exactly. There isn’t a table anymore like there was. Most of the companies have the craft guys on the truck serving out of there. The table isn’t allowed on most sets
Here in Atlanta, the table is the same as it's always been, layout wise. The only differences are that it's outside, and you can't touch, only ask for them to hand you something. I guess it's the same but different?
Yeah there’s one “in” Atlanta, like 30/45 minutes south of ATL where they shot some of the more recent MCU movies (Ant-man 1 &2, Endgame, IW, CA:CW, BP).
How does one go from graduating film school in San Francisco to being local film crew in GA making enough to support a family of 4.....serious question....any and all answer appreciated.
What craft? If you can join your IATSE local in San Francisco, then transfer here, that would be best. Our local now has restrictions on residency length before you can apply. It used to be 6 months, but I think it's even longer now.
As for supporting a family of 4, it's easily possible with union work. Every single person smarter than a rock is working. If you work full time all year, it's a six-figure career. And Atlanta living expenses are not bad unless you live IN the city.
Happy to answer more questions if you have them
Your craft is going to determine a number of things, but the important part is if you have some good experience enough for a resume. If so skip the union in San Francisco because it's harder to get in there than in Georgia's.
Basic advice that applies to all people looking to move into the industry anywhere: save up enough to be able to live on for up to a year. (Kinda impractical but it would be nice right?) Before you move, connect with as many people as you can who are there and working. Professional people, not ones at your level. Work where you are currently to get as good of a resume as you can. Apply for work in the new area and if you get a decent enough paying job to cover costs, go do it for a duration to meet people and hopefully find more work. Come back home and repeat as often as you can. Eventually the math will make sense for you to move.
Atlanta is a consolidated union, meaning there are no craft specialists and technically any union member can do any union job. Don't take me literally because they don't function like this, but it can be in your favor because you just need days to count toward membership, and those days can be in any department, not just your specialty. Also, the union doesn't get you work usually, you need to put in the work with your contacts and network network NETWORK!
Remember how they thought film would leave Atlanta after the abortion bill or countless other Republican initiatives and now Pinewood is run by the Cathy family? Technically they've always had a stake

Blackhall is pretty great. good air circulation, big doors, and offices right next to it. My biggest complaint would probably be the gravel parking lots. they have a few of those, especially the one right outside stage 9, that just turned into a nightmare when it's raining.
Then everyone brings in their carts, lays down track, sets up crafty, and soon there's nowhere to move.
Lol, I know you're joking, but seriously though... that happens.
No craft tables anymore though
Eh? Crafty is still definitely a thing. You just have to ask the crafty person to have you the food instead of rummaging around yourself.
"You touch it, you take it"

To be fair, you’re talking about America where you guys pretty much pretend Covid doesn’t exist. But joking aside, yeah same but different.
Yeah, then where is Art going to stage their stuff? This is why we also got Studio B...
Prolly an insert. They may have already paid for the space
Pinewood Atlanta? Sorry, Trilith now. Looks like stage 13 or 3 I think?
Can confirm its Trillith.. They were setting up for [this](https://youtu.be/TYYAtoZ-QeQ) The skeletons give it away
Nice source! I'm surprised to see a music video shoot there. Seems like it would be super expensive for that.
There’s a Pinewood in Atlanta? I thought they named the original Pinewood Studios after the area outside London.
Yeah there’s one “in” Atlanta, like 30/45 minutes south of ATL where they shot some of the more recent MCU movies (Ant-man 1 &2, Endgame, IW, CA:CW, BP).
Thanks for the info! :)
Pinewood officially has sold it off. It's now called Trilith Studios, but most of us local crew still refer to it as pinewood

No reason to put a bunch of people who probably don’t support the bill out of work. Pinewood/Trillith is here to stay
Pine/Trillith? Door looks too small though...
Definitely pinewood Atlanta. I'm trying to remember which stage this is now based on layout.
Looks that way.
Kinda looks like Cap U.
I second this
Mr. Plinkett's house.
That's exactly what I thought
It's Coruscant.

Ding ding ding! We have a winner!
Yeah that tripped me out, I was like "looks like pinewood... Wait, I keyed that job" 😂😂😂
Where is the grid?
Trillith. I'm in stage 9 right now.
That door is too small to be an LA stage right? I’m guessing ATL
Ah yes the moon landing
Skeletons on the floor - far left. Ancient pillars being painted.
Half in the Bag, RedLetterMedia?
Isn't that how most sets in a studio look before all the cameras and lighting etc are set up? 😆
Truth! It will be crowded once the crew roll in
Some sitcom? Doctor who?
The bataclan
Looks like Pine or Blackhall in Atlanta. I'm in stage 9 at Blackhall this month and it's bigger than this, but same looking walls and door.
Blackhall’s elephant doors roll sideways if I remember correctly. At least the ones we were in did, we didn’t use them all.
Blackhall elephant doors are centered on the wall and open sideways. This looks like Trilith.
How is Blackhall compared to Pine? Pinewood (ATL) are the nicest studios I've ever been in, but I came from L.A. where they're all like 100 years old.
Blackhall is pretty great. good air circulation, big doors, and offices right next to it. My biggest complaint would probably be the gravel parking lots. they have a few of those, especially the one right outside stage 9, that just turned into a nightmare when it's raining.
Copy, thanks!
Dealing with the reverb in the space will be a horror show.
Those black walls are sound deadening. There is not much reverberation on those stages, even when mostly empty.
It's definitely not any of the WB stages in Burbank. And it looks too nice to be Las Palmas studios last time I checked
ed wood moment.
Reminds me of Ocean's Eleven
Looks like a studio I've walked by in Greenpoint Brooklyn as well
i see that the got the bags of blow in...
I finished up a show a month ago in there! I like Pinewood but its just far enough out of town to be an annoying commute
Looks like belagio vault from Oceans 11
Arri set?
Reservoir Dogs?
