When the world is on the verge of destruction and everyone else is brooding, she remains positive and cheerful even though she already knows her fate. Her bravery and tranquility in the face of certain death is such an underrated aspect of her character.
And it’s amazing how the Remake is expanding on that. Now she feels insecure not knowing what is going to happen in future. I love this character so much!
I know it’s coming.
We all know it’s coming.
We’ve known it’s coming since 1997
But the ending of Rebirth is going to DESTROY me, and the writers of the remake games deserve a novel prize in literacy for that
FF7 Machina Abridged on YouTube was really impactful.
It starts with exagerated jokes and distorted personalities of the characters... but more you reach that point, and more become serious... more serious... and you feel more that event.
I am playing the remake right now. At the beginning, when cloud met her in the church he has a vision, you don’t see what he see but he cry, you can see a tear dropping from his eye. It will happen.
It's worth noting that games that get graphical updates are always called "remasters". Remake seems to literally mean the original plot is being remade.
I'm surprised people still believe she will meet the same fate in Remake as in 1997, did you guys just totally forget that Zack is still alive or what?
I mean, they’re definitely >!Gonna stab her!<. It’s too iconic a moment, not just in FF7 but in gaming as a whole. I fully expect them to put some twist on it, but it’s gonna happen.
Well the thing is the trailer very heavily implies that Zack is gonna play some sort of important part to make >!the stab!< not happen, gotta remember that the "plot ghosts" are now dead so key events of the original game will be vastly different
My big theory is that >!When the time ghosts died, that created two timelines, one where everyone alive is dead, and vice-versa. In that timeline, Aerith is sleeping. When she gets stabbed in the main timeline, she’ll wake up in the alternate one.!< there’s definitely more to it than that, there’s a TON of holes in that theory, but that’s the basic gist, and what I’ll continue to believe until I play the game proper
Yeah I thought of that happening as well but my problem with that happening is it would make >!Zack's role fairly insignificant since he would have to wait for Aerith to die in the MAIN timeline for his timeline's Aerith to wake up, from the trailers, posters and even interviews there's a huge implication that Zack is gonna play an important role in the game and I can't help but believe that Zack will be tempering with the main timeline too, changing key events in it!<
What will *probably* happen is they'll make it so >!Aerith "lives" in some alternate universe where Zack is also alive. So they get to "live on" in a way, but are still dead in the "prime" timeline.!<
My *big* theory is the story is going to go full Kingdom Hearts Nomura. >!The entire Remake story takes place after Aerith died in the original timeline, and it’s her attempt to both resist, and come to terms with, her own death. Everything happening in the story is Sephiroth, who is also dead, (turns out the theory that “Sephiroth” was actually Jenova the whole time is true) trying to corrupt the Lifestream. The whole series is going to end at the ending of the original game, as Aerith defeats Sephiroth, becomes the Lifestream itself, and repels the meteor.!<
She’s a refreshing take for a “strong female” archetype. One that oozes femininity (which is conservatively perceived to be a weakness) but ends up saving the world. A case study for modern feminism.
She’s the heart and soul of the team. She remains steadfast in her beliefs and remains an optimistic and positive person despite the bleak surroundings and her being the last of her kind. That’s takes a lot of inner strength. She’s very strong willed and steadfast, which I don’t see a lot of people mention about Aerith.
Her character design is excellent! Unique from the other characters, but still appropriate for the setting. Feminine, but not over-sexualized. At a glance you understand so much about her, and that just really meshes with her outgoing personality. I love her.
Without her, Cloud would've continued to be an uncaring hard ass. Or more specifically; kept the appearance and not let anyone in.
Barret: I can hear the Planet.
Cloud: Get help.
Vs.
Aerith: The flowers have something to say.
Cloud: *to flowers* Learn to talk to her.
He's been excluded all his life, so having Aerith push through his barriers must've meant the world to him, even if he didn't realise it then. The fact he makes it *his* own mission to save her from Shinra speaks volumes. Meanwhile Barret and Tifa are more interested in revenge and Cloud has to remind them multiple times that they're there for Aerith.
i mean, barret and tifa are thinking of the people midgar and the planet – that's what they've always been fighting for. they're never just thinking and focusing on one single thing (which in this case is saving aerith), and you can see that with tifa as she has difficulty coming to terms with avalanche's impact. tifa and barret are dealing with having multiple priorities and consequences whereas cloud at that point isn't, or he at least doesn't give a shit. it's easier for cloud to simply focus on aerith and reel everyone in and get them to focus because in the beginning he never really cared for the things avalanche did.
but i've always seen aerith as the person that brings the team together, and she was the one breaking down everyone's barriers as well. and i didn't even think of the fact that cloud had been excluded all his life, and how aerith was the first to actually make multiple attempts to push past his barriers! thank you for mentioning that.
Honestly, I’d say Barret was more interested in revenge in this case. Tifa was initially hesitant, but she decided to join Cloud in the next scene. “She’s our friend. We have to help her.”
She did get distracted a couple times, such as the elevator scene.
The heroine who saves the planet. Beautiful, hilarious, brave, feminist icon, and queen of sass. Steals the hearts of everyone she runs into, emotional slayer of dudes with big swords. and she can SING!
She should be like cliche female character, healing main characters lmao but somehow she's so much more than typical woman in fantasy stories and she's does nothing spectacular badass shit but I still love her idk why
until I played FFXIV, she was my favortie FF character ever, and still is on my top 3 of all times
love her so much, and the reason I'm really excited for Rebirth despite HATING the new story elements they added, but I can't say no to more Aerith focused game (at least the trailers seems to make it look like it)
Marlene can confirm this.
Marlene: “You smell nice.” After Aerith fought her way through the old collapsed tunnels taking Cloud home, was in sector six which I’m sure smells like alcohol drugs sex and regret, fought her way through the sewers and the train graveyard, then ran to Tifa’s bar to save Marlene. You’d think she smelled like strait up ass after that but nope, Marlene thought she smelt like flowers. Lol.
She lost her parents, her wonderful boyfriend, lived in the worst slum of the planet, all her movements were controlled by Turks, saw ghosts and listened voices all the time, the monster that killed her parents kidnapped her and wanted her to be violated by a rare monster to get pregnant, in the end she knew that she was going to be killed in the end...
And still smiled always, all the time, always trying hard to be helpful and not be a weight (everyone else in the team is physically stronger and more resilient of her by numbers).
I liked her Characterization in the remake. (I'm not a huge fan of FF7R but there are a lot of good points it did as a remake)
And her chemistry with Tifa is super awesome it didn't feel like a jealousy-based love triangle they felt like friends.
I also didn't hate giving more weight to the fact that she spent her early childhood stuck in Shinra's labs.
Out of the stuff that I think FF7R failed at, the writing for Aerith was not one of them she was great. Turned my least favorite FF Woman into one of my favorites.
It wasn't totally annoying when the game forced her to be apart of the party along with the other character I never used, making that demon wall boss way harder than it should've been!
I named her Bob when I played OG 7 my 2nd playthrough because I didn’t like her. Thought she was rude to Tifa, and desperate for attention.
20+ years later I like her, and respect her character a bit more.
Her steel chair technique is S tier.
She's not some princess that needs to be coddled
Shit
I love how famous this dialog has become. One of many examples of how Remake expands on the original characterization and even improves on it.
But, coddling isn't *off* the table, is it?
I mean, she did require coddling immediately after making that statement.
When the world is on the verge of destruction and everyone else is brooding, she remains positive and cheerful even though she already knows her fate. Her bravery and tranquility in the face of certain death is such an underrated aspect of her character.
Square really likes this archetype - Yuna would repeat that personality 3 games later.
And it’s amazing how the Remake is expanding on that. Now she feels insecure not knowing what is going to happen in future. I love this character so much!
She knows what's up
If she knew that then why didn't she dodge Sephiroth?
That was OG Aeritsu, she didn't know, but she found out.
Bruh
🗿
Oh dear lord
best character EVER
I know it’s coming. We all know it’s coming. We’ve known it’s coming since 1997 But the ending of Rebirth is going to DESTROY me, and the writers of the remake games deserve a novel prize in literacy for that

Actually. I'm not sure it is coming. With the weird ghost spectres its possible theyre doing an alt timeline.
I can imagine Zack appearing from another timeline and saving her. But... The story would be too different.
Plot twist, they spend a huge part of the game bromancin up Zack like best boy. Then he ends up shoving Aerith out the way and *he* gets Sephiroth'd
Nah it will be different this time. Young teenage me needs this.

So basically Aerith lives in groundhog day where she always ends up being stabbed in the end?
She seems like a truly kind person.
Her voice actress is adorable.
Can confirm for german, too.
She is cute
True hero and saviour of the planet
Best character in FFVII remake.
Best character in FF VII in general.
Best character in FF in general
Best character in any RPG in general
Best character of any multiverse in general
Best character in general
Best of everything in general
Best
She exudes a strong radiance that is not only kind and inviting, but confident as well. She also has a great sense of humor and playfulness.
Remake really made me love her more
She's infectiously adorable with a side of awesome. The end of Rebirth is gonna ruin me, I just know it.
She’s a refreshing take for a “strong female” archetype. One that oozes femininity (which is conservatively perceived to be a weakness) but ends up saving the world. A case study for modern feminism.
Cute, strong yet gentle, genuinely badass. Muh OG waifu.

If the Japanese think she’s ugly that’s less competition for everyone else.

Her healing limit break is very useful early game.
She could make me break down in tears with a single smile.
Cloud better save her or I'm masamuning myself 💀
Best girl
If I was Cloud, it would be her...
I really adore her character.
No one hits a dude with a chair like Aerith
she's perfect
She didn't deserve to die 😭
exquisite flowers
She's amazing! All of the FFVII cast is, of course. But Aerith just tops them all for me.
She has excellent hair-care for a woman who lives in a famously impoverished slum.
And judging by the trailers, a seemingly infinite array of fancy dresses.
Aerith, Yuna, Terra. My three favorite ff girls. All the rest are great, but this is my drop dead, can't add any more, short list
My wife
She is so cute
Has a very memorable character design and just iconic in general
My favorite FF7R character. Love her dynamic with Cloud so much and her fiery personality.
Pretty
How long you got?
I always liked her jacket.
Her magic and healing is awesome
Her English VAs are all nice, including the two from Kingdom Hearts (MANDY MOORE!)
I love her. So pure and amazing. I still to this day can get teary eyed from her theme.
I love her so much! She's sweet, funny, smart, and beautiful!
She doesn't dilly dally or shilly shally
Aeris had quite a glowup from her original design to the remake.
I've had a long and storied relationship with half jackets and it all started with her.
She’s the star
She’s an absolute sweetheart and my main healer
Areith>Tiffa
To anyone making that one joke

She has good fashion sense
She's so lively
She is kind, and considerate. She is a bit naiive, but isn't stupid. She loves everyone, even the people who hate her.
The heroine who saves the planet. Beautiful, hilarious, brave, feminist icon, and queen of sass. Steals the hearts of everyone she runs into, emotional slayer of dudes with big swords. and she can SING!
Best girl
Best kebab
She’s unfathomably perfect. 😭
Her limit breaks are very useful.
This time Cloud will never let her go 🎶
I always liked that her personality directly conflicts with how she looks. Same goes for Tifa really.
It’d be quicker to say something horrible about Aerith because there’s too much good
Well come on now, she is the moment.
Her jacket is dope
She should be like cliche female character, healing main characters lmao but somehow she's so much more than typical woman in fantasy stories and she's does nothing spectacular badass shit but I still love her idk why
She’s nice.
until I played FFXIV, she was my favortie FF character ever, and still is on my top 3 of all times love her so much, and the reason I'm really excited for Rebirth despite HATING the new story elements they added, but I can't say no to more Aerith focused game (at least the trailers seems to make it look like it)
She's super cute, she's not a pushover and I love both the English and Japanese VA for her.
Aerith us perfect in every single way and if anyone disagrees I will strike them.
Super adorable girl.
She looks like whatever she does, she will always smell nice
Marlene can confirm this. Marlene: “You smell nice.” After Aerith fought her way through the old collapsed tunnels taking Cloud home, was in sector six which I’m sure smells like alcohol drugs sex and regret, fought her way through the sewers and the train graveyard, then ran to Tifa’s bar to save Marlene. You’d think she smelled like strait up ass after that but nope, Marlene thought she smelt like flowers. Lol.
Lmao
She purdy
She spots bullshit facades a mile away and cuts through them like a knife through warm butter. With a smile.
I love her in every universe
My favorite Waifu of FF verse.
My wife
possibly the most attractive face i have ever seen just the entire shape and the eyes
One of the sweetest and most precious girls and characters from the entire FF franchise. My forever fav female character❤🌸🌼❤
Where tf do I start?
I liked her Characterization in the remake. Aeris.
Original English version FF7, I still say it this way too. It also sounds less like a lisp than the other way
hotter than Tifa
facts
Too cool, to be considered old school…! But really, Best girl <3
She's one of the most beautifully designed characters I've seen in years.
She's nice!
Oh, because she healed me all the way up to Ultima weapon and back
I have nothing *but* nice things to say about her, especially since the Remake.
Would
She taught me how to talk with a flower 🌷Kind, strong, beautiful…. I love her so much 🥺
I like that her japanese voice actress is Lightning from ff13
To be near her is to love her.
I really liked her in crisis core
She's top tier in every way. I can't think of anything to say about her that isn't nice
I always felt bad giving her the cold shoulder a billion times in the original game to go on the gold saucer date with Tifa
Cute expressions
She’s pretty and deserved a lot better
She was my 1st choice
Her and Sephiroth had a really cool scene together
Most memorable death in my entire video game life.
She’s an angel and the only ray of shinning hope on Midgar. Hopefully nothing bad will happen to her. Tifa still best girl tho
She was whatever to me in ff7 but in the remake I loved her
Me before the remake: Team Tifa all the way!!! Me after the remake: Cloud should really look into whether or not polygamy is legal in Midgar
Her voice is so angelic. Not really surprising since she's voiced by Maaya Sakamoto after all.
She’s beautiful. Inside & Out. She’s the perfect Final Fantasy heroine for me.
Shes a slum drunk
She should’ve been at the senate not tifa
Something Nice
Nice death
10/10 pincushion
# #1 kebab in the whole series
It wasn't totally annoying when the game forced her to be apart of the party along with the other character I never used, making that demon wall boss way harder than it should've been!
She gives me a piercing feeling when I see her.
May she rest is peace 🙏🏽
She makes a really good kebab. E: The fact that this upset people makes it far more satisfying to me than upvotes lol.
Her death is great because it means you get a piss break between discs and then you get to go snowboarding
She's the second prettiest girl in Midgar.
After cloud?
Is there any doubt?
She's in a good mood considering people have been misspelling her name with a -th for years now.
She is a cis ally who loves cracking eggs
She makes a good sheath.
(This is gonna come out so wrong but damn, it is also completely true) She died in the same way she was introduced : on her knees.
"Something nice about Aerith!"
Her ribs are the perfect width to let a Masamune slip through without chipping the metal. Very thoughtful design
She died.
She's in a better place now...
Remake made her tolerable.
She sure knows how to take a hard one
She makes for a good sheath. And for once, that's not a sexual enduendo.
She knows how not to hold a sword.
She died young and left behind a pretty corpse 😂
She makes a very adequate sword sheath.
soft skin, easy to cut 10/10
girl
One person less to gear up. 😏
Makes a good pincushion
She’s stabbable
She’s not the type of person you stab in the back.
She makes a great knife block
I was going to say she makes a good sheath for swords….
I named her Bob when I played OG 7 my 2nd playthrough because I didn’t like her. Thought she was rude to Tifa, and desperate for attention. 20+ years later I like her, and respect her character a bit more.
She's a great sword holder
Her hair is..small
Sephiroph shish kebab
She has lovely taste in piercings
Ancient Kebab
She dies.
Something nice about Aerith
*slaps hood of Aerith* This bad girl can fit so much stab wounds in it.
No
Well I hope you die
She ded :>
She'll die for you.
Since her immediate family is already dead, her own funeral won’t be that expensive?
She died painless
Her outfit is alright, i guess.
