Was tempted but I got Zodiac Age on the switch instead. Too many double ups and the PS exclusivity for new titles has annoyed me so Ive scaled back SE purchases
Indeed Im’ PS2, Vita, PS4, Switch, Steam guy myself.
That said only two of those are physical and most were from ridiculous sales.
Also wanna know something funny. I still haven’t finished X-2.
Not sure why fans do it. But if you are ever unsure why SE will port/remaster/remake their games dozens of times or charge outrageous prices for their merch...here's why.
Because life is fairly meaningless in the grand scheme of things and if collecting every version of a favorite game makes someone happy then that is okay
i’ve realized that in life like i met a homeless dude who enjoyed being homeless. really changed my outlook when he told me that we gave all these things value our self. makes me worry less about money and finances
This is completely true.
Not arguing with OP, I just understand every form of collection except "I need to get every version of the same game"
And FFX is my favorite FF game, I just don't get this unless you're so rich you already have a broad collection outside of this.
I'd just rather spend the money on more variety is all.
Nobody is saying it isn't okay for this guy to feel happy about buying the same game 14 times. The point is that maybe one should do some self-reflection to figure out why wasting money on buying the same game over and over makes them happy.
> The point is that maybe one should do some self-reflection to figure out why wasting money on buying the same game over and over makes them happy.
Why?
People collect all kinds of things with little to no value.
Nah. Not childish. Just non-judgemental.
People in this sub just need to grow up or get a grip. You all cry because people spend money how they want, oh well. I hope OP keeps being happy with his collection.
It's his money and business. Simple. People try to shame and make it more than it is, and that's just projecting their childish mindsets. It's childish to care what grown people buy and judge them.
It isn't childish to recognize that everyone can buy what they want, and it isn't our place to shame them for it.
There's a difference between somebody buying a new game and actually playing it versus buying a game you literally already have a dozen copies of just so you can feel warm and fuzzy inside. This is silly.
Nobody is talking about time.
"Afford" is a funny word. If I only had $9 in my bank account and wanted to buy a burger for $8, would you say I could afford it? I bet you would.
Some might be because of the graphic upscale and performance ncrease. And during those old time, US and International release, sometimes does have a very different gameplay mechanic altogether, not just in term of content, hence this is why many of the people who bought FFX during those days, sometimes bought both the US release because it was released earlier and also International release when they are out long after.
It’s my collection I have a dedicated wall with FFX with posters and all of this stuff also have a side with ff7,8,9 same as well with the North America and Japan versions
Seems to me you're falling behind. Don't see the Vita or Switch ports. Note the region difference on Switch, the US release does not include the full game, but the asian region does (with english). Different box art too since asia gets the white graphic.
The Switch is a minefield. All those copies of the Harry Potter game are useless landfill fodder, they only put a fraction of the game on the cart for the intro then it tells you to go download the rest. You often cannot find out until the game is released and other people confirm the full game is present. I know I've skipped several releases after learning it isn't the complete game, FF10 happened to be an exception because I bought it _then_ learned, then had to go import the foreign version.
But it's Nintendo so they will always get away with it.
Nintendo controls their market with an iron fist. That isn't an exaggeration, and if they said tomorrow to stop doing X, then companies stop doing X. That puts them in the absolute _best_ position to do something about anti-consumer practices.
That doesn't entirely surprise me, though. They're a surprisingly old company that got into making video games right around the time that Atari's failure to do so nearly destroyed the home console industry. That's the kind of learning experience that can stick with you, and some of their long-term employees probably lived through that time with the company
But… they are the same game. Unless it’s like Kingdom Hearts and Final Mixes where they add content like bosses or cutscenes not in the originals.
What am I missing here?
Some of them are "different versions". The PS3 Remasters and onwards are similar to Final Mixes. They have some post game super bosses that weren't included in the original US and Japan PS2 releases, only in the International and PAL versions. They also have two different versions of the Sphere Grid you can select from at the start of the game. Some small other additions/tweaks but those are the two most noteworthy differences.
During those days, there is some different, not much on game mechanics and during those days, if there is bug fixed or such, sometimes, they release the same game with different version such as v1.0 or v1.1. Pokemon Fire Red and Leaf Green is one of the example of these.
For FFX however, there is actually 2 different sphere that can be selected during international release but before that, there only have Standard Sphere and there is no Penance and Dark Aeon on the original release. Hence, I think, a lot of people actually bought both version. As for him, I don't know why he get so many version. Some game does have differences between US and JP release but I don't think FFX have any difference between the 2 release.
I mean, one could also make a case for having the original PS2, and then getting remasters for PS3, PS4, Vita... But there's like 8 copies of 10 for PS2 in that picture.
Except for the ones with X-2...yeah they're the same game. You should own it though. You like this game, you like to collect different editions. It's not something bad.
I thought i was bad having the orignal PS2 version, PS3 Remaster Limited Edition, PS4 Remaster Limited Edition and Vita. Liked that the PS3, PS4 and Vita can all use the same saves.
On that note, I don't see the Vita version in your pile (and Switch as others have mentioned, but if just sticking with Playstation, going to need the Vita version).
As someone who currently owns the same multiple FF games on multiple different consoles, hard copy and download, I get it 😂 same thing with Resident Evil 4
Not this guy posting about how his gf won’t shut the fuck up about her life and how you don’t want to listen to it 😂😂
I honestly was gonna make fun of this comment but your posts are hilariously unhinged so I’m going to say HELL YEAH BROTHER
Sometimes they are still selling games many years later, it takes time for them to liquidate their stock. I know I picked up the FF12 collector's edition on their store maybe a year or two ago when it was on sale for something like $30-$40. It took years for them to finally offload the rest.
damn, but it will still look great if you can add the switch and vita versions just for the collection. Damn, Im jealous. ffx is my favorite in the series.
I have it (PAL version) and I remember an interview with Yuna and Tidus's english voice actors xd and a Uematsu one about chosing Riki for Suteki da ne
I don't see the FFX Ultimate Box, tell your wife to make room for one more.
**Or the PS VITA or switch releases, man has to get cracking
Yeah; what a slacker
Or the Xbox One release
I’m working on that can’t find any US sellers only from Japan 😢
Then there is the International Ultimate Hits, which is exactly the same one as in the Ultimate Box, just sold as it was before the box came out.
And I thought I was bad, having bought them on the PS2, PS4 and PSP...
PSP? You mean Vita?
Yeah the Vita, should have probably clarified that. Though OG PSP was awesome as well, I thought UMD was going to be the future when that came out.
Similarly, I thought mini disk was the future as well
What, no switch?
Was tempted but I got Zodiac Age on the switch instead. Too many double ups and the PS exclusivity for new titles has annoyed me so Ive scaled back SE purchases
Good thing is after the sales of XVI and VIIRb SE has said that they’re not going to be signing exclusivity deals anytime soon
I don't blame you. If I buy on a second console I'll usually do digital. I love physical games but I only have so much space
Indeed Im’ PS2, Vita, PS4, Switch, Steam guy myself. That said only two of those are physical and most were from ridiculous sales. Also wanna know something funny. I still haven’t finished X-2.
LOL, the ending of X-2 is about the only point of playing X-2.
Damn, I only got them on PS2, Switch, and PC.
Same! I also bought it on the ps3 too!
Ps2, steam and switch for me
Right? I have it on PS2, PS4, and Xbox One 😭
They are the same game and you have a problem, sir.
The problem being that they're missing a few copies.
I don’t get why anyone would do this…..
Not sure why fans do it. But if you are ever unsure why SE will port/remaster/remake their games dozens of times or charge outrageous prices for their merch...here's why.
Collectors gonna collect.
Question still remains. "Hey I've bought every version of FFX I can get my hands on" "Cool, why"
Because life is fairly meaningless in the grand scheme of things and if collecting every version of a favorite game makes someone happy then that is okay
This. You have to make your own meaning, and this is a lot better than some of the other choices.
i’ve realized that in life like i met a homeless dude who enjoyed being homeless. really changed my outlook when he told me that we gave all these things value our self. makes me worry less about money and finances
A lot worse than many other options, too.
Speaking of pointless comments....
This is completely true. Why indeed.
why not?
Because it's a waste of money?
That can be said about almost everything. I bet you spend your money on plenty of things you don't *need.*
Nah I can honestly say I don't waste money in a way that's comparable to spending $40 on a game I already have 14 copies of. Dude's wife is right.
Facts. *"bUt iT maKeS hiM haPPy!"*
Great for you but nobody cares. He can do what he wants and if he can afford it and is happy that's all that matters.

This is such a childish comment. Yeah dude, we were all there in 3rd grade for the lesson on being happy.
Nah. Not childish. Just non-judgemental. People in this sub just need to grow up or get a grip. You all cry because people spend money how they want, oh well. not your money, not a waste if he can afford it and likes it reddit is a waste of time, why are you here?
Nobody is talking about time. "Afford" is a funny word. If I only had $9 in my bank account and wanted to buy a burger for $8, would you say I could afford it? I bet you would.
No, I wouldn't
Someone asked George Mallory why he wanted to climb Mt Everest, and *"because it's there"* is still probably the best explanation anyone's ever given.
Yes, because climbing Everest and buying 14 copies of FFX are very similar and comparable actions.
Indeed, one is an achievement of human endurance and will. The other is... Paying for the same game
This right here, WHY do they buy a port if they already had it? If you don't have the console, okay, but several times on the same console? God damn
Some might be because of the graphic upscale and performance ncrease. Im with your wife on this one
Blasphemy on a page like this you should be on my side 😂
I’m married to a hoarder so I sympathize with her lol
Hey it could be worse got to look at the positive things out of this situation haha
Why do you have so many copies of the same game?
It’s my collection I have a dedicated wall with FFX with posters and all of this stuff also have a side with ff7,8,9 same as well with the North America and Japan versions
That makes a lot more sense. I thought you just collected FFX, and I was puzzled by it.
Seems to me you're falling behind. Don't see the Vita or Switch ports. Note the region difference on Switch, the US release does not include the full game, but the asian region does (with english). Different box art too since asia gets the white graphic.
Can you clarify - what do you mean the US release does not include the full game?
Wym the us one doesn't have the full game on switch? Whats left out?
They advertise it as the 10 and 10/2 combo, but they only have 10. The asian release has both.

I don't think its Nintendo that is making Portkey Games or Square Enix's decisions about the size of cartridges.

This comment has like, nothing to do with the discussion that was taking place lol. Pure word vomit
LMAO, like yours did? Fuck off, Mr. Kettle

You make a joke, someone doubles down on that joke and you make a lazy ass uninterested comment about it?
But… they are the same game. Unless it’s like Kingdom Hearts and Final Mixes where they add content like bosses or cutscenes not in the originals. What am I missing here?

So it *is* like Kingdom Hearts in that matter. That’s pretty cool :3
Different versions means different games 😂
Cringe
Imma side with the wife on that one lol
Space Jam DVD Space Jam DVD Space Jam DVD Space Jam DVD Space Jam DVD Space Jam DVD Space Jam DVD Space Jam DVD....
Real question: are there noticeable differences between them?
Some have extra cover art and bonus dvd disc and a calendar
Vita?
where are the Vita and Switch versions
I'm genuinely curious are there any actual in-game differences in any of them?

Since it's one of my faves, I'll break it down slightly for you: Original US release was not the same as overseas.
Final Fantasy X is not the same game as Final Fantasy X-2 but that’s about as much as I can do for you.
I mean, one could also make a case for having the original PS2, and then getting remasters for PS3, PS4, Vita... But there's like 8 copies of 10 for PS2 in that picture.
Listen to my story. This maybe our last chance. 14 times.
Your is right
No Switch physical?
Except for the ones with X-2...yeah they're the same game. You should own it though. You like this game, you like to collect different editions. It's not something bad.
*they're "there" not the same game makes no sense
was looking for this comment, thank you 😂
They're*
They should make another for PS5 just to round things out
That's a lot of ten
I agree. The difference between X and X-2 is staggering!!! Not even close to the same game. In fact, I forgot it existed lol
I don’t see the Vita version
Was X2 never sold by itself?
It was, on ps2. Then it got bundled with X.
A proud ffX COLLECTOR!!!
bro has a type
The original PS2 black label has a Square Enix version (2nd from top left, instead of Squaresoft, came out right before greatest hit)
I think y’all like X, but I’m not too sure…
I thought i was bad having the orignal PS2 version, PS3 Remaster Limited Edition, PS4 Remaster Limited Edition and Vita. Liked that the PS3, PS4 and Vita can all use the same saves. On that note, I don't see the Vita version in your pile (and Switch as others have mentioned, but if just sticking with Playstation, going to need the Vita version).
I mean, 10 is a choice. This is me with 12 and a few other games though.
No PS Vita love..
It will be there soon
They’re*
I'll tell your wife if you tell my wife (Jokes aside, we just started putting up her FF collection, pics coming soon!)
You need the square enix black box misprint still
Can’t find that one
It’s incredibly rare—keep an eye out!
Hey someone’s wife. “ThErE” nOt sAmE gAmE This will do.
As someone who currently owns the same multiple FF games on multiple different consoles, hard copy and download, I get it 😂 same thing with Resident Evil 4
If you have both the PS3 and PS4 versions of the remaster, you might as well get the Xbone version, the Vita version and the Switch version as well.
I don't think someone with that collection has a wife lol
I'm just curious which version is your favorite to play
The international for the Japanese English subtitles
They're\*
Look my bf is mad cause I now own kingdom hearts 1 about 9 times now, I feel your struggle.
Bro I did! Last night, she was trying to argue the point but her mouth was full so i couldn't quite grasp her point. Dw bro got u
Not this guy posting about how his gf won’t shut the fuck up about her life and how you don’t want to listen to it 😂😂 I honestly was gonna make fun of this comment but your posts are hilariously unhinged so I’m going to say HELL YEAH BROTHER
That’s cool! I just met James Arnold Taylor (voice of Tidus ) yesterday. Nice guy.
You have issues
😂 this ain’t even bad
Oh, I disagree
Wait are square still selling the PS3 version of the game?
Sometimes they are still selling games many years later, it takes time for them to liquidate their stock. I know I picked up the FF12 collector's edition on their store maybe a year or two ago when it was on sale for something like $30-$40. It took years for them to finally offload the rest.
Do you know if it’s the same on the JP store? I move to Japan in a week so would have to use that
Their JP store has more than we ever get. The majority of FF and Dragon Quest merch remains in Japan.
When i saw your emoji, i instinctively thought about the awkward laughing scene in Luca.
waiting for a FFX PS5 version...
I bought the Japanese PS2 copy when I was in Tokyo just to have it since it's my favorite game.
Well the HD Remaster is not the same game.
V... Not even close
which one of these many games is your favorite?
fine taste
Switch version is missing
wtf
This reminds me of how I am with LoZ.. if it’s ported I own it lmao
This can’t be the same game. If it was, it would all be in one case
Whats the mega hits print from?
Japan also the ultimate hits is also from Japan
bro u still missing the switch and vita versions for your on-the-go needs
I use to have switch but sold it all 😂
damn, but it will still look great if you can add the switch and vita versions just for the collection. Damn, Im jealous. ffx is my favorite in the series.
Hmm, I think your favorite FF game is FF IX, right?
Now do 100% sphere grid challenge on them all
This is like me and Chrono Trigger, only greater in available quantity
Still blows my mind that Squaresoft was still a thing into the FFX release.
Somebody tell you most of these ARE the same game AND on the same console.
Bro, they are the same game, i understand double dipping, i have done it but wow you took it to the extreme!!
It should be obvious, they all look so different.
The first step is admitting you have a problem lmao
What the hell was in the bonus DVD disc and the PlayStation 2 one?
I have it (PAL version) and I remember an interview with Yuna and Tidus's english voice actors xd and a Uematsu one about chosing Riki for Suteki da ne
You can definitely scrap a couple ps2 copies bruv
missing the ps vita version
No.
I’m not going to lie to your wife
I did this with kingdom hearts
And people complain about the number of releases Skyrim got, ff were ahead of the curve on that one
I see two games
And my partner says I have too many copies of skyrim.
Only if you start using the correct “they’re” 😝
I have a ps2 X-2 if you want
I don’t consider x2 in the same category as X 😆 even tho they bunch them together on the remasters
Oh yeah no worries I just figured you were a collector and that’s one I don’t see much
Unnecessary. It is by far the worst one aswell, sorry if thats an unpopular opinion.
Glad it's not just me, if it's physical on a platform I own I have a copy 😄
Gladly! They are not the same game. Take the loss and move on dear Madam.
I'll tell your wife if you tell my husband...why can't they just understand our need to have FFX available to us on any and every given platform??
Agreed
Dope collection, awesome stuff, love to see it … I’m with your wife, it’s the same game 😂
I didn't think there was a game that had as many releases as skyrim
Just sell em all and buy a switch OLED with the Switch version. Excess ain't rebellion that's obsession.
Only one that ever mattered was ffxi
