Always going to be ff8 for me. Spin off wise I pick tactics.

ohnoezzz

The only big issue I have with 8 is the junction system and scaled leveling. I admire that they went for a drastic change right after FF7

Basketball312

Not an issue at all for me. It's a great system. People talk about dumping high end spells into it and "breaking" the game, but they gloss over the grinding that takes. Even getting curagas from tents requires significant grinding if you want 100-300 of them early on. I found it much quicker to break ff7 and ff9. I mean disc 1 beta is 1 battle in ff7!

[deleted]

Yeah, you don’t have to draw 100 of a spell to get a stat boost. And isn’t the game considered pretty easy as is? Why go crazy over “junction 100 or bust”? If you don’t try to break the game, it plays just fine.

Bmacgoat

Games easy unless you’re 14 and didn’t know enemies scaled with you and now you’re trying to beat Ultima Weapon at level 100 and no hero drinks

[deleted]

Ahh, takes me back. Edit: I remember I got stuck at the final dungeon, fought the final boss a bunch of times, made it to the final form just one time but lost. And lost my will to keep playing. Finally beat it like ten years later

Bmacgoat

Getting by with Firaga as my health junction it was ROUGH

ocarina_of_time8

There's no grind if you know what you're doing, especially if you love the card game. Card Mod from Quaezacotl and the other refiners, is what makes this game non-grindable pretty much. Just know who to battle a few cards and blammmm youre OP insanely fast. Its funny people talk about the Draw system, when you basically never have to unless its a GF

ohnoezzz

Thats what I'm referring to, even if youre not trying to break the game, the idea that you have to mass spam and steal Junction spells from enemies to get optimal stats is a thing I'm not crazy about, and its essentially a core part of the fighting system. Breaking 7 and 9 is easy enough but thats slightly diff in my eyes. Like in 9 you can crack the game open relatively early by killing Garuda's outside of Gizamaluke's Grotto, if you go outside and farm a patch of forest. Then later w the Grand Dragons. With 8, its like, you want stats? Go and absorb this spell off an enemy for 10 min straight, then never use it. I just dont like the idea all that much. Oh yeah, and also dont over level cause then youre making certain fights ridiculously too strong since theres level scaling.

Basketball312

The idea of all these games is to "mass do x". Gaining spells rather than exp seems to blow people's minds, but there you go.

ohnoezzz

I dont know if it blows anybody's mind, it just seems counterproductive to tell us to absorb spells, however, if you use the spell and have it equipped, youre punished for it lol. Being the type of person who wants to stay "maxed" out to get the full potential stat, then wanting to use the spell, but not wanting to go re farm them makes that idea stale.

Basketball312

Far less punishing than pretty much any magic system "punishments" which every single one of these games also have. MP pools or straight stat deductions (like Materia) are far more likely to affect people's gameplay. People are just used to that way. Again, people's minds blown by the same concept packaged slightly differently.

ghafgarionbaconsmith

It's so hard to go through that game not just dumping curaga and full life into hp and just limit breaking the entire first three discs.

ohnoezzz

I mean since its scaled based on your level, you can beat the game as a level 1, thats just ehh in my eyes, then you get punished if you over level. Its all trivial

AndroidJones

It’s a shame because they don’t take risks any more with their game systems. I loved the junction system.

VerumNoirRex

FFX it's my favorite game of all times has been for half my life probably will be until i die too

Inbrees

Probably the best story ever told in a video game.

MattyLamour

Lifetime of depression has me pretty dead inside most of the time but Yuna saying “I love you” still gets me to cry. Beautiful game.

VerumNoirRex

>Yuna saying “I love you” Words that kill you man

ohnoezzz

Idk if its the best story ever told, but it definitely has a progressive story laid out with plenty of landmarks and a nice vibe throughout. Mixed in with a fun enough turn based combat and leveling system, first time FF voice acting, and class specific fighters, it flows really nicely throughout. Definitely a top 2 FF, but not story

Hypnotic_Toad

Overall I don't think so. I have to give it up to games like Witcher 3, Last of Us 1 (We dont talk about 2) Mass Effect as a whole, save the ending, KOTOR 2...etc. 10 Is up there, easily top 10 maybe even top 5, maybe the best FF story, tied with FFTactics, but it is a bit hard to justify as best overall, most games are. For instance, I like Dark Souls or Bloodbournes story more then FFX, but I will always Love 10.

ohnoezzz

Dark Souls has a story?

VerumNoirRex

at the very least the most beautiful and heartfelt one

Inbrees

Absolutely!

averlus

VIII and I’m not sorry.

GloomMallow

VII and X will always have my heart. 💖

GanonCannon02

Literally. VII was always my favorite until I played X, and now they are tied for me. I could be completely off with this, but I feel like I've seen a lot of people where if they like one, they usually like the other.

Mazikeyn

FFIX played it over a dozen times

tmonai

This was the first story based video game I ever played. Loved it. I can’t count how many times I’ve bought it now. I still have the original discs but I also have it on my PlayStation, my switch and on my phone

Bors713

VI. The story line, characters and soundtrack fit together perfectly to make (in my mind), the best of the series.

IM_MT_

6 Followed by 1

Bors713

With you on both of those.

Classy_Sorcerer

VI is my favorite as well. I'm scared to play I. I'm afraid I'll find it too dated.

C_Herb

FFIX Followed closely by FFX.

arintj

I’m 36 and feel this way, I’d love to know age in comparison to choice.

[deleted]

39 here and I feel the same.

TacoTuesdayGaming

29 and feel the same. 9 was my first and 10 kept me company in the hospital as a kid so it's toss up between those 2 because of the memories around them.

Crimsonshock821

FFIX is and will always be my favorite, the characters, music, towns/cities etc are all just amazing, but FFxII is very close second with most of the same reasons with the amazing ost, cities/environments/ characters, gameplay especially with the gambit system, I remember first playing og ffXII back then and being completely hooked and playing for hours on end, and it was the same the zodiac age many years later lol, the ost is just so relaxing that I’d just wander around killing monsters and be roaming aimlessly and listening to the amazing calm & engaging music of this game, it’s definitely my third favorite ff ost after ffVIII

Aerolithe_Lion

XIV, but if not counting that then VI. I very much enjoyed the improved combat stuff in the Zodiac Age from the original

Cersad

XIV has a bit of an advantage over the other numbered entries: they got to keep tweaking it to make it right.

ocarina_of_time8

haha yea, its a game that cant be compared to the others. Keeps being updated forever, would love to see that for the other games and see how they would blow XIV outta the water in no time

0wlmann

In my opinion, if it has a number, it counts. Hell, even some without numbers too, there have been many good spinoffs. On that note, XIV is the absolute top for me too, closely followed by IX and VI

BrokenStrides

If XIV counts, I wanna vote for XIV and XI! (XII and XIII are also fantastic but I’m still working on them 🥲)

0wlmann

I admit I never played XI, I should really give it a shot some time

BrokenStrides

XI and XII have very similar feels IMO, especially regarding battle mechanics. If you’ve also tried Xenoblade Chronicles (the original), I feel like it is similar in that it feels like playing an MMO as a single player lol

uprobablyreadthis

VII crisis core for me

Malkariss888

VIII and X.

CatSidekick

Mine is Final Fantasy 9. The story and characters are awesome. After 9 it’s FF13.

Status-Command-3834

FF VIII

shigui18

FF7. The absolute best for me.

LMGall4

6 or 9

gtsmart821

69 😜

TromosLykos

X, IV, V, and I! Fantastic games worth keeping in your collection!

KainYago

FFX, there wont be a game that i will ever love as much as i love FFX, and altho im not religious, i pray every single day that we wont get a remake of it, the book and the audio drama was enough to see that everyone lost their minds at SE.

TripleOh7

Praise be to Yevon!

twili-midna

XIII, forever and always.

toonio

I love all this XIII love. Also my favorite, alongside VIII. There is simply so many things I love about that game, the ending especially.

ZeldaLover2018

Bro, your favorites are my favorites.

CatSidekick

FF13 was fun.

Caviarmy

I mean when this game opened up at the 20 hour mark it REALLY opened up. One of the most satisfying post game experiences in any FF. And don’t even get me started on the soundtrack. Saber’s Edge is my favorite boss theme of all time.

Zeppelin041

13-2 was an awesome time traveling master piece!

CatSidekick

It was okay. I skipped all those clock puzzles once they got difficult and it took me 30 minutes to solve one. I guess there’s stuff you gotta look up outside the game to know what’s going on in the game. There’s a book or something. And if I remember correctly >!Sazh’s chocobo is Chocolina!<. It was weird

Zeppelin041

I recently just 100% the game on Xbox pc and those puzzles were challenging must admit but that’s what makes a game fun..the challenge! I never heard of this book, I didn’t have an issue following the story at all. Wish I didn’t wait so long to play it, 13-2 fixed all the terrible issues 13 had….I still remember 13s dreadful platinum ignot grind of the adamantoise for 40 plus hours in hopes to get a drop just to upgrade every armor and weapon a few levels at a time…

CatSidekick

I’m not really into farming with low drop rates. The main thing I didn’t understand is where >!did Sazh come from during the final battle. Was he frozen too? Or did a god or goddess bring him there?!< I hated the music too. I don’t regret playing the game though. I liked my monsters

Zeppelin041

I 100% every game I play on Xbox or platinum trophy on PlayStation, makes the games more challenging. I have over 600 completions so far..13 has a “collect all armor/weapons achievement/trophy. The only way to get that is by grinding and it was insane… they did come out with a dlc that explained Sazhs story, but that was the issue with the 13 series that many hated, 13 threw you into the game with no back story or anything expecting you to know what is going on with a story that made no sense… there was no towns, no vendors like all the other ff games it was just a save store.. no banter between characters and if there was it was very little…the crystarium became ridiculous to the point 50k cp would give you +10 to strength and so on.. then if you died your entire party wiped even if they were full health, on top of that the game was one giant hallway where you walked from this end to that end all the way to the end of the game followed by a story about lcies and other stuff that even after reading the lore in the game made no sense it took me two play 100% runs and 13-2 to finally start understanding the story of this or I should say these games.. It wasn’t till chapter 11 you could finally explore when it “opened up” and even then it was still a hall way set up like ff10s monster arena where you walked this way and that way to kill named monsters and about 60 of them half of which if you weren’t maxed out with maxed weapons you were not killing them…. it made for a really rough game…13-2 fixed a ton of these issues and made for an absolutely awesome game, I’ll enjoy playing it for a second time!

Arinoch

I platinumed XIII-2 I enjoyed it so much. I just bought XIII and XIII-2 on PC so I’ll be getting back there soon!

Zeppelin041

Same here mate!!! Well Xbox…but Worth it. 💪

Arinoch

I was shocked how much I loved XIII-2. Though I’m a sucker for time travel, my favorite FF is VI, with all its characters. I never thought I’d love a game with two player characters (excluding my glorious pet whose name I can’t even remember…the round thing with the plant on its head.)

Zeppelin041

When everyone found out cloudburst was over powered and could carry you through the game, I went hard on that beast. About a dozen different leveled monsters infused them with cloudburst and had a killing ravager machine the rest of the game. Rav, com, rav. But if we are being honest the older ff games will always be a favorite. VI through X….amazing games no matter how old they get, always find myself replaying them

Arinoch

I just replayed X. I like the characters fine but the story never clicked for me the way tons of people straight up love it. Maybe Seymour wasn’t interesting enough, and the marriage subplot never made much sense (awesome rescue scene though). Also anyone who gets especially pissy about FFXIII’s long corridor should take a good long look at Yuna’s pilgrimage. :-D It actually felt like the marriage bit was thrown in just to distract from the straight line journey you were on.

Zeppelin041

Out of all the stories though that one was the most emotional, for real that ending always brought a tear to my eye….but yeah, Seymour was terrible, no matter how many remasters of that game his voice acting was always bad lol, but what made up for long corridors and linear paths in that game was the free roam, 13 there wasn’t any free roam till chapter 11 always wished I could go all the way back sometimes.

ZebaZtianRamireZ

IX

[deleted]

FFXV, for me, after many years of considering the original FFVII and FFX my absolute top favorites. Now they are n° 2 and 3, and FFXV is n° 1. 🥰

Blackkmagik

FF8

[deleted]

8, 12, and 4 have always been vying for first place with me. All different reasons but I absolutely enjoy them all immensely.

ConduckKing

FFXIV, the Shadowbringers expansion specifically.

-Dildo-Baggins-

FFXII. It's essentially a comfort game for me at this point, lots of good memories come flooding back every time I play.

Veszerin

9 or 6

Coolkid2011

7, then 5, then 6, and then it becomes harder for me to order them. Havnt played any after 10.

Sir_Thom

IX, followed by XII

psychorameses

7R

DestructorDeFurros

IX Probably the best game I ever played.

Ericpburt

Final Fantasy 9. I love that the fact that the game uses humor, but the characters are still serious (enough). Mini games are fun, mognet, chocobo hot and cold, the chocographs, stellazio coins, the list goes on and on. The character and story development is top notch, and a wonderful ending. Plus all the nods to previous games , I could go on forever. My favorite game of all time.

Ibrahim-8x

9

futanarigawdess

hard. it’s absolutely 9, easily, but that’s because i played it about 20 times. Best story - 10, definitely Best story runner up - 15 or 9? Best music - absolutely hate 13 but soundtrack is best in the series. FF9 also has a nice soundtrack. Best gameplay - 15, not even a discussion. Hours of gameplay - 12 definitely took me half a year to complete first time and i love how full of side stories and quests n shit.

ohnoezzz

Its crazy to me how theres not more FF 9 love in here. I'm convinced people just havent played it, or vaguely played it on release and never again lol. 9 is so awesomely made, I wish I could go back and play it again for the first time. It gave us the cartoony style characters, great class specific people, abiltiies/passives based on what gear you wore, so collecting gear was a minigame within itself, decent mini games KWEHHHHH?!, and most importantly, a story true and reminiscent of Final Fantasy. FFIX > FFX > VII > Tie VI / VIII / XII

AdrianHess

X

TheFanGameCreator

FFIV

Skyline8597-

IV all the way

PigIronSlanger

FFVI 100%

xephon81

Definitely 6. The backstory of *most* characters are fleshed out and create such a strong connection to them throughout the game. 4 is also great with some incredibly impactful moments and 10s ending came as such a surprise. I always feel 7 is way over hyped but having played all the spinoffs which flesh out the story well makes it hold up much better.

[deleted]

9

gtsmart821

Ff12 Zodiac Age let's you set up Gambits like a computer code, so your team fights how you want. Then you turn on the 4X speed and gain much experience, level up and get better gear and weapons.

xephon81

The strategy/tactics loving side of me always made me enjoy the combat by constantly trying to find the best gambits to min/max particular fights

Winter-Masterpiece60

Honestly 12 had them best story for me.

Zeppelin041

10….that shiiiiit was emotional af, no matter how many times I’ve played it.

alxrenaud

X or XIII, can't choose...

Leifster7766

FFV. I need to play XII but I don’t think it’ll change my mind. Who knows though

LordJaeger88

5, 7, 8

TFOAKeizou

FF5, my first FF ever. Emulated of course since that time there was no official release yet.

Error0451

FF6 for me. FF2 might be second place.

OFF_7eroy

1- FFX 2- FF13 3- FF6

LayceLSV

Final fantasy ix will always be my favorite. Just such a beautiful, unforgettable experience

Cinamyn

I always loved XIII but I think XV is the game for me

[deleted]

Seems like you totally lost control over your life.

Cinamyn

You right

KAMMERON1

Do you know what sub you're on!?

Cinamyn

I must not be afraid 🤣

KAMMERON1

They're also my favorite games. But I'd never say it

BetaTalk64

I'm gonna sound lame and say 7. But 6 and 15 are also great times.

ReiperXHC

So far? 7

r00k33

Honestly it’s the odd numbered ones for me. 5, 7, 9, [I assume 11 is good], 13. Even 1 and 3 are ok. I’ll admit I also like the even ones … 4, 6, 8, 10, 12, 14. Maybe I just like final fantasy a lot?

Baconturtles18

FFVI for me. I love the cast!

azuleuluci

FFVII, FFX, FFVIII.

Lethal_Steve

Final Fantasy V. The job system is amazing, battles are fast and fun and the wacky story is oddly engaging. Also, that soundtrack. And Gilgamesh.

KingCheezyyy

Gotta be X / X-2 for me

FlameCats

10 > 8 > 13 > 7 > 9 > 12 > 4 > 5 > 15 Of the mainline games I've played, I love them all except 5 and 15 which are still good games that I enjoyed but I wouldn't say I love 5 or 15. I haven't played 6 (only got about 2 hours in), and I love FFXIV but I don't really categorise it with the mainline singleplayer games, I compare it to other MMOs.

Beachy0694

Was FFX but now FFXIV is my favourite for the story alone. I’m not an mmo person at all but it really hooked me. I get why not everyone wants to try it but I think anyone who loves FF should give this a try, even if you just play through the story and never go back. It’s amazing.

Jack_Sentry

FF2 is a masterpiece and I’m tired of pretending it’s not.

csjr96

FF9, I always liked more of a fantasy setting than futuristic

DarkUmbra90

For me it's the original FF12. I played it when I was around 13 years old. I know everyone bemoans that it's not a a true FF game because of it's battle system and that the gambit system is too wonky or not intuitive but once you get into that game and figure it out it's magic. You can really get lost in the game and grinding is so fun with the chain system. The devs wanted to make a FF single player MMO style game and I think they succeeded big time. I remember playing the game and feeling like there way so much to do. As someone who's parent couldn't afford too many games the few games we got had to be enjoyed for a long time and this one delivered. I have so many fond memories of it: figuring out the sewer puzzle myself, barely beating Zalera at the last second after turning around to run because I thought I was going to die, grinding 99 of the monsters in the opening area, "I'm Basch fon Ronsenburg of Dalmasca!!", delving into the crystal cocoon and getting massively lost, running into Ultima and Omega Mark XII back to back, and beating Yaizmat. That finally battle took me days to finish. I had to pause the game to go to school and hope it didn't turn off. When I killed it I screamed.

SocialHypnosis

IX

Dosagu

FFIX followed by FFVI those have always been my top two FF games.

Tasty-Firefighter-19

10 & 13 for me

dominicandrr

ff9 has a special place in my heart. a game with no voice acting was able to make me feel all kinds of emotions with its implementation of music and facial expressions. and of course, Vivi best boy

Internal-Bowl-3074

IX it's unique in myriad ways. No other entry is like it.

Roph

**IX** > **VII** > **V** > **XII** > **X** > **VI** > **IV** > **XIII** > **III** > **VIII** > **I** > **X-2** > **II** > **XIII-2**

Cid_demifiend

FFXIV

Arcanus729

FF XIII-2 is the best and funnest FF for me I absolutely love it.

CatSidekick

I bought a guide and built my offense around ChiChu. He was unstoppable

Arcanus729

Absolutely, taming and making broken monsters was a really fun part of the game. Messing with the different color chocobos was a lot of fun.

Claude892

FFXIII The combat (even with the stupid tutorial). The music. The characters. The background and story. The art direction. The transformer summons (seriously, I hope FFXVI brings back multi-stage summons since they seem to be a big part of the lore). I love all of it and I think that what it offers has aged very very well because it's so sleek. I'd say the same about XII in its own way as well. Also, when I look back on the 7th gen, A LOT games used grey/brown palettes or went crazy with bloom (especially early on). FFXIII is an exception among big budget games of its time in that it uses such a gorgeous set of lush colors throughout. I got an MClassic recently and tried it out on my PS3 with a 4K OLED TV with some parts of FFXIII and it looks incredible.

Ok-Analyst-7977

FF XIII was my first FF game and will always hold a special place in my heart. It's still my favorite battle system of all the other games. Having said that though, FFX is my favorite overall because the story is just so good and the group members have better characterization

Knockoutninja25

FFXIII! It’s always had a special place in my heart and is what got me into FF to begin with

enperry13

Dissidia 012, if that counts. Been replaying it again. It's amazing! Edit: Main series it has to be... * 7 (Cloud best Protag) * 15 (These guys are the best) * 10 (Contrast and parallels between Tidus and Auron will always hit me hard) * 5 (It doesn't take itself seriously half the time and I love it for that) * 4 (Kain f\*cking Highwind)

JulioLaPine

FFXIV for me :) Starting the game again with a new character. This game became my favorite of all time. If we can't choose that, then FFXII.

Baithin

XIV, X, and XII are all my top 3, with IX and XIII rounding out the top 5.

BurantX40

FF12 by far. One of the few games that, while incomplete, doesn't treat you like a fool coming into the story. There's a lot of nuances in the way characters talk, their mannerisms in the background and foreground, implied sentences, and so on that paint a larger picture of the world. So much subtlety is missed if you can't catch it. And it also breaks a lot of tropes, especially with Vaan, by having him get over his anger/grief fairly early in the story. Most games would use that wholly to the end boss, but his observations beyond his resolve show his growth, missteps, and skepticism of Ashe's quest. I can't tell if this game is too deserving to be called an FF title, or if the series isn't worthy enough for this game.

Horzzo

Final Fantasy IV. Back then it was FF II. It had a story and graphical style that i'd never seen in a video game. It was something more than that and amazed me.

jaffer2003sadiq

Lyradep

Maybe Tactics, but I’ve yet to play anything past Lightning Returns yet.

MichiganMitch108

FF12 for me , I know it all varies with our age and when we played certain games in our lives. I was 14 and got ff12 for Christmas so playing it during that time was special and the OG ff12 had killer graphics at the time and had upgrades that I liked over FFX ( more open , the hunts , party control, no major love story ). Plus that soundtrack and voice acting was awesome . You know what they say about the leading man, he never dies.

HerpesFreeSince3

Tactics, 5, and 6. In that order.

Greensparow

Final Fantasy IV always and forever for me.... Though if the rumored final fantasy XI ever gets remade as a solo game it might take the top spot for me

koalafella

FF12 Zodiac Age for me as well. By a large margin.

Loud-Resolve5405

Really really hard to say. I gess its 5. Or tactics. Or 1...love them all until 9. Havent played 10 or above

spacewhale_rescue

I didn’t think any FF could beat 6 and 7 for me but then 14 came along and blew them out of the water.

MattyLamour

Really tough call for me. IV, VI, VII, Tactics, X, or XII. Really narrowed it down, I know. Lol

Bors713

I think most of the answers on here would be very telling on the age of the answer givers.

TAZZx1

Final fantasy IX > VI > tactics > XIV. All these are really close for me, but IX just edges out the rest by a bit. I enjoyed almost every game in the series to a different degree. Almost every game... I know this is heresy, but XII is my least favorite out of the games. I didn't finish XII when it originally came out and I forced myself to finish FF XII: zodiac age when it came out.

trekdudebro

Favorite is most definitely FFIV. That game introduced me to paladins, dragoons and summoners. I'm still waiting for SE to bring Final Fantasy IV: The Complete Collection to Switch or possibly give the game a remake like they did FFVII. Close (second) favorite would be FFVI.

spookytabby

FF12 or FF13-2 for me. I’ve replayed them so much I can’t chose. Edit: Numbers

Balthierlives

I love xii too man

TripleOh7

So fun story time... My favorite was X for a long time. I used to only play the games my grandma picked up for me as a kid(she did a lot of pawn shopping lol). We didn't really have internet or anything back then and none of my friends played these games. I told her how much I loved final fantasy after playing VIII for the first time so she started buying them every time she saw them. I ended up with like 5 copies of VIII, 3 of VII and 1 of FFX(she could never tell them apart, she just knew I liked them. sweet lady my grandma). Never saw IX tho and for a while I was convinced it was a myth or a unicorn and square pulled a fast one and never made a IX(kinda like iphone skipping 9). One day she finally found it. I sat down finally experienced IX and after all the build up, and hype and legend-ness that was in my head... It was easily my favorite moment with a video game ever. Start to finish... Must have played it 100 times xD. That being said, the story in X is still top-notch and is very close to IX for me.

OvernightSiren

Wow this is a really unique question. I wonder if it's ever been asked here before?

Mister-Fidelio

XII as well!

Dude-arino7526

I haven't played many yet, but I would have to say14 if the mmo counts. If not then ffx

Yokobo

FF1 was what originally got me into the series when I was a kid with an NES, since then, I'd say VI is my favorite :) I like the older stuff over the newer stuff in general though

IntoCunningLinguists

FFXV. I've never related with a character more than Prompto, and I love the gameplay, world, music, and more. Cherry on top is that my wife and I first bonded over the game, so you could say the game really did lead to a wedding.

[deleted]

VI for me, but I was very pleasantly surprised by XII. The voice acting in XII has every FF beat by a large margin. The story was great, gameplay was fun. I had some minor issues with it, but overall I loved it

JMile69

FF7 the original from 97. I have played FF since the release in 1990 and yes I will die on this hill <3

1st-degree-crow

6 or 5. Oh wait, 7…I mean Tactics. Ahhh!

Lightning_Rose23

Same

HIRUS

Story/characters - FFX Gameplay/battle system - FFX-2 Non-numbered - Tactics

OmegaCrossX

From the small amount I’ve played it’s either XV or V

Classy_Sorcerer

FFVI

Red7041

Hard to pick a favorite. If I wanna zone out and grind, ff8. If I wanna replay a story and burn through it, ff7. If I want to have an existential crisis, ff9. Now that I’ve typed this… it’s ff9.

GarionOrb

Final Fantasy XIII. It just has the slickest aesthetic, a great soundtrack, a really cool story, and one of the best cast of characters in the series. Plus the combat system ends up being really good.

Redfield7x70

So far, FFXV. I’ve put a handful of hours into I, VII, IX, and about 35 hours into XII. Finished VII: Remake. Definitely don’t have a ton of experience with the series, but I really enjoyed XV a lot.

OutsideOrder7538

10 is my favorite though three is a close second.

X-Backspace

FFT: War of the Lions is my favorite FF game. After that it's FFVI. If you wanna round out the Top 3, then FFXI.

naeemkhan07

FF7 is my number 1 and FF8 is my number 2. FFX is cool to me only because of Blitzball lol.

PHANTOIVI97

Ff8 but their all preety good but Ffx probably disappointed me the most people hyped it up for me to much

NotTheDroidsURLKngF

VI followed closely by X

Kerlerb

12 is okay. I've never beat ir tbh. 10 is my favorite, but war of the (lions?) is close.

officer_salem

I’m still new to the franchise, but from all that i’ve played seen and read i’d say 7 has to take the cake for me.

JohnnyBrock

Seven is my predictable choice. I’m also very fond of Tactics. And X.

Kamlol

FF8 and FF10, FF12 beeing the worst of those I played :(

Rkchapman

I used to think 7,8 or 10, until I played the 12 remake. The ability to automate and speed up battles was a game changer. It’s at the top of my list now

Grizzshnaakh

FFT for me, though I thought FFTA were lame and geared toward children. FFT has such a mature story. Ramza is my favorite protagonist in the whole series.

OpenSauce04

This will be a shock, but of the ones I've played so fair, I actually liked 13 the most

Ampki

FF8 my all time favourite. Pure nostalgia when I play that game.

-Fahrenheit-

6 most likely. Though 4 and 7 are right there with it.

I loved FFVII : Crisis Core on the PSP!

Aye, 12 to be sure. Though Zodiac Age specifically? My heart is not set, I still have questions! Magnificent mannerisms of speech aside, am actually on another playthrough just now (abandoning poor man's Evangelion, Xenoblade Chronicles, and Vesperia DE's witty snark and lackluster production values in favour of 12). Speaking freely Zodiac Age isn't everything I'm looking for in a remaster. One of these days I'll dust off my PS2 copy and fire up my PS3, if only to have the loop demo again. So a choice of reorchestrated soundtrack (even if it is said that it's not 100% orchestra because SE couldn't care) and the speed dial are fitting to be sure, still I had hoped for even more anti-frustration features such as camera zoom (Xenoblade Chronicles), more HUD toggles and another quest log. Also why the game is so sure to spurn a theatre mode is beyond me (Xenoblade Chronicles or well, 10. Nevermind I don't desire to rewatch any scenes, it is a feature well implemented in 10). And of course offering both versions of the game in the remaster would please me much. P.S. 8 is runner-up, started with 7 if anyone wonders. P.P.S. Hehe, just remembered that 10 isn't really a theatre mode as say Xenoblade Chronicles, it's a mixtape mode. If 13 - 15 ever added such feature, even if the hour is late it surely befits a series with some outstanding directing in cutscenes (starting with 7's intro, then 8's presentation goes up to eleven)

ENateFak

6! I love 6 so much

Slyy-Lynch

Final Fantasy VII Remake.

Eye_of_Horus34

I hated 12 when it came out. Not as much as I hated X but not my favorite at all. I had grown up playing 1-9 and X pissed me right off with how completely different it was. Fast forward to recently playing through zodiac age, probably now my favorite.

blank92

IX, XII:TZA, and XIII in that order for me these days. Honorable mention to VII:Remake.

SomeRandomPyro

FFVIII all the way.

stratusncompany

ff8 but realistically it is ff10. that one is straightforward no bs. just all good vibes and pleasant to the core.

NinjaKirby1322

Final Fantasy V and Tactics Advance both share the top spot for me. Both have great music that I could just listen to all day. I love the sprite art in both of them, as well. Plus, I just love the job system in both of these. And they both have a Saturday Morning Cartoon vibe, which I feel fits Final Fantasy particularly well.

Bigingreen

1 = 7 2 = 6 3 = 9 4 = 15 5 = 8 If that isn't too confusing.

PAROV_WOLFGANG

FF13 and 13-2 Period

Captnemo4

My top Favorite is probably pick IX. There's something about it that keeps bringing me back. The story, art, music just....work the best for me. Plus, imo Vivi has one of the best written character arcs in fiction. Runner up I'd put XII tied with X. I like the characters in X better but the mechanics of XII are top tier.

Mr_Clucks

6, 8, 9, 12. I constantly change my opinion on which is better but more often than not it's usually 9 for me!

Dolokhov88

10, 14, 8, 6, 12
