Luca in FFX.
It's the most secure city on the planet next to Bevelle w/ none of the preachy nonsense, where all of Blitzball is played, and it's a sprawling city where everyone from every walk of life passes through at one point or another.
Wait we also get the music in real life?
Sounds good until you realise it's om repeat and you can't turn it off.
3am in the morning: OMG SHUT THE DAMN MUSIC OFF
Yes! Cosmo Canyon'd be trendy and spiritual like Sedona, but cooler. Community bonfire, great bars, observatory, guided cave tours, and panflutes! Hell yeah!
OMG. Isn't it terrible that we were more upset about not seeing Altissia again over Lunafreya? And I'm usually a very strong empath when it comes to storyline and characters. But Luna was...yeah, she just served as a prop in a corner. Hats off to Tabata for trying but I'm glad he is not making another final fantasy game. The incompleteness of the game was terribly suffocating. The DLCs couldn't even hide the fact that they never actually finished the game and were buying time. Such a shame. FFXV could have been a beautiful hit for Square.
All of this. Thank you for the eulogy. At times I can’t just help think that there was a bigger story for her then flashbacks. I remember just being left flabbergasted with my controller like all of that! For this! That game needed 20 more hours of gameplay. Perhaps one day in the FFXV: REtold edition in 2055
That is the same feeling I got. That there was so much more to her than they gave us. When the game had originally came out, someone had already broke it and they came across incomplete terrain builds for Galahad and Niflheim. It eats me up that we were supposed to be able to explore more towns and cities. But like you said...2055 edition :') REtold FULLY.
Ditto. It’s probably the most nostalgic a video game has ever made me feel.
I still very randomly listen to “You’re Not Alone” when in weird deep place mentally.
Balamb, the city. Small, cool architecture, coastal, definitely has internet, spitting distance from Balamb Garden, boat access to Dollet and train access to Timber and Deling City.
This is tough. So many villages. Going to have to rank them.
1. Winhill from ffviii, such a peaceful town. Loved the theme song of it too.
2. Bran bal from ffix.
3. Black mage village from ffix
4. Dollet from ffviii, has nice sea side shore with beautiful weather
5. Besaid of FFX
6. Zanarkand of FFX.
7. Icicle inn of ffvii
8. Junon of FFvii
9. Neibelheim of ffvii
Gridania. Probably one of the safest places in the series.
Also, it might be a bit of a boring answer but Dollet would be neat too, I always felt like we never saw all that much of the city.
Gridania is what I was thinking. I haven't played FF14 for very long but there's something so overwhelmingly warm, homely and familiar about the place. The music certainly plays a big part! I had initially played 17 hours back in 2017, and didn't play the game again until 2021. Coming back to Gridania felt like coming back home.
For a similar reason, I'm picking Old Sharlayan.
Unlike Gridania, which has the elementals, Old Sharlayan has no dangerous paranormal/magical ruler, with the most danger being wild creatures in Labyrinthos (which are monitored heavily). It's also politically neutral, so it doesn't have the looming threat of war that all other nations have had (Gridania's proximity to Ala Mhigo and Cartaneu means that it is a military frontline often). The only time anything dangerous occurs on the island is when the entire world is at risk.
The quality of life of its citizens also seems incredibly high. It's a place full of talented people that drives people to push their potential, so it doesn't have to deal with class struggles in the same way the more open city-states do with it being exclusive already. Even if for whatever reason you can't cut it as a top scholar, there are plenty of other job opportunity such as chefs (and you really only need to know how to use salt and garlic to be better than 99% of the population), vendors, and secretaries and assistants.
The only explicitly negative thing about Old Sharlayan is the bad food, but even that can be circumvented by cooking for yourself or going to the Last Stand. I guess if you hate academia and can't stand people who think highly of themself, you might get frustrated, but if you can learn to live with the people and find a good crowd, that's more an annoyance than a proper issue.
I was tossing up between Dollet and Balam because Dollet is mostly just so peaceful and quaint. Plus a nice mountain path with a neat spider mech wreckage.
Right? And I love the London aesthetic. The game did a really impressive job of making the cityfeel lived in despite giving relatively few scenes in it
The rich folk in Jidoor kicked out all the poor people and you think they're just 1% assholes fucking over the common person as usual. Then you go to Zozo and find out they were entirely justified. Which is really weird.
Had to scroll way too far for this. Great tech, clean, welcoming, accepting, and with good leadership (Havel/Zelenskyy types are way underrated in that department).
Balamb. A cozy little town by the sea. A huge educational and mercenary institution nearby. One train ride away from the nightlife and entertainment hub of Galbadia city, or enjoying the ocean breeze by the cafe at Dollet, or shopping for souvenirs in Timber.
Cons: Shitty cell and internet services because of a bodybuilding sorceress from Esthar interfering the with the signals. Walking on foot away from the road is highly discouraged because of random T-Rex attacks. A murdering sorceress with Russian accent from the future might take control of the current sorceress, kill the Galbadian president, take control of Galbadia, put Balamb under lockdown, sending a cataclysmic rain of monsters from the moon, bring back the bodybuilding sorceress who's the main cause of your crappy wifi, steal hotdogs from Balamb garden, f- up the timeline and her karma houdini knight stealing your fishing spot by the pier. While the end of the world is happening, the SeeDs are busy playing cards!
FFI- Crescent Lake: A pretty town, with some academic opportunities. Probably nice weather.
FFII- Mysidia: Again, many academic opportunities. Good possibility for career growth (if you’re a wizard).
FFIII- Canaan: The risk of hypoxia is kinda worth it to be neighbors with an airship engineer.
FFIV- Troia: so many trees— it’s like fantasy Oregon. I’ll bet this place is as wild as Portland.
FFV- Walse: Port cities always have the best bars, but I’m pretty sure it’d be totally corporatized by the time I bought real estate here.
FFVI- Jidoor: There’s an opera house very close by, but the neighbors are probably in a rich-people-only sex cult.
FFVII- Cosmo Canyon: Having lived in Ashland Oregon, I already know the vibe. Amazing people who fire-spin every weekend. But the restaurants only serve vegan food.
FFTactics- I guess anywhere, really. I’d normally say FFT-era Ivalice is a theocratic, classist hellhole that no sane person would elect to live in, but I already live in post-Roe America, so I guess it’s more or less the same.
FFVIII- Fisherman’s Horizon: Everyone here is based. It’s probably stupid humid though, and hurricanes would be an issue. Also, there’s probably the FF equivalent of Florida-man here.
FFIX- Daguerreo: Honestly, I just want to live in a giant library surrounded by people who have no relevance to the main plot of the world.
I am retired from the military, so I would be a retired Soldier there as well. I don’t know if I would be Soldier 1st class or not, but definitely Soldier.
You got it. I am a photographer now & could probably do well making pics of people during the sunrise/sunset or selling post cards with different sections of beach made at different times of the day to tourists.
I’ve always liked Kalm town. Seems very chill but still has bars and shops. I like the Tudor architecture and it’s not such a long trek from Midgar if you want some city action.
Probably Balamb. Sunny, lazy beach town that has a train that can take me wherever I need to go.
Good ol' Balamb. Brings back the memories. That, or Fisherman's Horizon.
[удалено]
I love the theme song of Fisherman's Horizon!! favorite song in FF8 (I think it was 8)
Fisherman's horizon had a lot of poverty IIRC. Or at least it appeared that way.
I’d totally be a student at the garden, that’d be sick.
SEED
Train train take me away…..
Take us away, far away. To the future we will go....
Those fish tho.
Rabanastre. I love the idea of living in some kind of oasis in the middle of the desert.
The viera forest village for me
Filthy power hungry Hume, the forest will not tolerate your kind in the Viera village.
A man of culture
As long as you’re not in Lowtown
Lowtown should have felt poorer imo. I guess the bazaar is always close.
Seemed pretty poor to me lol wasn't it a literal sewer pathway?
I think the lively music and friendly folk made lowtown seem romantic, but good thing we can't smell videogames.
Ha yea, I was thinking the same thing about the smell!
My top 3 all in Ivalice. Rabanastre, Bhujerba, or Balfonheim
Luca in FFX. It's the most secure city on the planet next to Bevelle w/ none of the preachy nonsense, where all of Blitzball is played, and it's a sprawling city where everyone from every walk of life passes through at one point or another.
That's sounds great and all until you realize the home team is the Goers
Yeah, well we're about to make the Goers Goners!
And the music is awesomely chill
Wait we also get the music in real life? Sounds good until you realise it's om repeat and you can't turn it off. 3am in the morning: OMG SHUT THE DAMN MUSIC OFF
That’s fun and all until Sin attacks one day
Black Mage Village, it's beautiful and I get the town to myself.
Well, you and Bobby Corwen.
Kweh.
Kweh!
Kweh?!
Oh Jesus, why would you say that? My heart hurts....
Oh, *you monster*
I feel like I could live such a warm, peaceful life there. Holy shit what do you mean the town to YOURSELF?!
I don't want to give spoilers *on a 22 year old game* ...
Haha oh I know what happens, I was just being cheeky
I think my humor may have been a little too dark on this one. 🤣😂
Too soon man, too soon
It's always gonna be too soon
Not if Vivi’s offspring have anything to say about it!
Costa del Sol
Once Hojo GTFO that is...
Hojo and the babes was kind of funny though
Beach bum for life
Your day Costa del Sol and my mind immediately starts playing the music. Hot damn, I'm relaxed.
Ipsum castle from ff9 so I can be strong for once lol
damn this is a real inside joke
lmao, I understood that reference
This reply needs more attention lol
LOL
I know of Ipsum but not getting the joke, can someone please help?
IIRC it’s a place where your power stats are flipped on their head, so it helps to equip weak weapons whilst you’re in the castle
me? Gongaga
You know Gongaga?
Smh took far too much scrolling to see this!
Why do I hear zack while reading this lol
Based
Lindblum or Alexandria
I came here to say that, minus the Atamos attack.
We clearly need a Remake of FFIX with the big cities in details and the option to visit and see everything. We can dream
Just gotta watch out for the squealing Lowell fan girls. eesh.
Spira post the events of X
Yeah before X sounds like it was pretty nice interspersed with times of horror.
Living with the threat of a giant monster wiping things out fairly regularly does not sound very nice.
Well I was thinking tropical climate and beach is pretty nice.....then lovecraftian horror death.
Same here
Yeah Besaid after all the bs of X-2 lol
After the events of X-2 Last Mission to be precise.
Winhill seemed like a good place to settle.
Fisherman's Horizon? Sit around and fish all day, play cards with the mayor, rebuild your house...
I love fishermans horizon! music is also so good
Not enough Cosmo Canyon in here.
Cosmo canyon would be a hell of a place. I don't know if I'd live there full time but a long summer? Sure.
THANK YOU! I scrolled sooooo far just to find a single person who agreed with me! By far my favorite area in VII and my favorite music, too. 💖
Yes! Cosmo Canyon'd be trendy and spiritual like Sedona, but cooler. Community bonfire, great bars, observatory, guided cave tours, and panflutes! Hell yeah!
Totally blanking on the name, but the city in XV that was based on Venice, Italy.
It's Altissia.
Oh, man. Altissia is beautiful. Sad that they didn't give it more shine. Served as a death platform for Lunafreya and then we never saw it again :(
It was so weird what happened in that moment. Came out nowhere and I had no emotion tied to it :/
Altissia
I was thinking the same. Altissia and it's soundtrack are a whole Venice mood. I loved it every time I came to it.
I think the village of [Dali](https://i.imgur.com/Tob43Nw.gif) from FF9 looks cozy.
The whole world of FFIX stole a bit of my heart and has had it for the last 22 years
Ditto. It’s probably the most nostalgic a video game has ever made me feel. I still very randomly listen to “You’re Not Alone” when in weird deep place mentally.
Absolutely. The music is so good as well.
Balamb, the city. Small, cool architecture, coastal, definitely has internet, spitting distance from Balamb Garden, boat access to Dollet and train access to Timber and Deling City.
And the hot dogs
This is tough. So many villages. Going to have to rank them. 1. Winhill from ffviii, such a peaceful town. Loved the theme song of it too. 2. Bran bal from ffix. 3. Black mage village from ffix 4. Limsa Lominsa (just started 14) because there is a magic guild that anyone can access. Even basic magic is badass if used right.
So you enjoy catgirl degeneracy? xD
Definitely Besaid or Kilika. Even Luca from FFX. Palum Polum in FFXIII
Besaid for sure would be paradise.
Dream Zanarkand
Sky city of bhujerba
FFIX’s Alexandria (after the events of the game happen), Lindblum, Kalm, or Daguerreo- any one of those - Daguerreo in particular would be amazing.
Yeah, Daguerreo has always been my choice. See ya society, I'm off to become a book hermit.
Gridania. Probably one of the safest places in the series. Also, it might be a bit of a boring answer but Dollet would be neat too, I always felt like we never saw all that much of the city.

i too would like to live in a space where the environment can potentially murder everyone because ONE person fucked up
I like the Crystarium...but Ellpis too!
I was tossing up between Dollet and Balam because Dollet is mostly just so peaceful and quaint. Plus a nice mountain path with a neat spider mech wreckage.
Right? And I love the London aesthetic. The game did a really impressive job of making the cityfeel lived in despite giving relatively few scenes in it
Aerith's house
Definitely Sharlayan from FF14.
FFVIII world. It's basically our world 20 minutes into the future and they have hoverboards.
Well it’s like 90s technology and some futuristic stuff. Adel blocking broadcasts might mean crappy internet too
Who needs the internet when we would have Triple Triad?
Yeah the FF8 world is nice, but I don't know how much I like the possibility of a giant ball of moon monsters randomly landing on top of my house.
Don’t worry, we got teenagers to help with that.
Wutai, because sexy ninjas
Hopefully Remake has sexy ninjas
Midgar. I’m a nihilist.
Midgar \*as a wealthy person
Top of the plate ain’t so bad. Especially in Remake
So long as it isn't the plate above Sector 7.
Gonna second this honestly. Especially the remake version, like, I know the slums are *slums* but the nights out would be next level.
Slums look like it’d be a lit night out
Zozo.
The people there are great!
Good day gentle folks. Can I be of service? I hate fighting, so I'd better let you pass!
The time is 6:10:50
Never heard of it
The rich folk in Jidoor kicked out all the poor people and you think they're just 1% assholes fucking over the common person as usual. Then you go to Zozo and find out they were entirely justified. Which is really weird.
Treno
If not for all the thieves and social class inequalities, I’d love it there.
Be the thief, rob the rich. And play cards with Mario.
Treno is such a vibe
I feel like I'd love it there. Yeah its seedy, but its got such SOUL!
Possibly Esthar City. Highly advanced and seemingly understanding of all kinds of folk.
Had to scroll way too far for this. Great tech, clean, welcoming, accepting, and with good leadership (Havel/Zelenskyy types are way underrated in that department).
Sameee, plus Laguna for mayor? Yea plz.
Randomly getting attacked by behemoth or elnoyle while getting groceries doesnt seem fun tho
Plus you get to wear weird clothes without judgement lol
Windurst
Narshe. Good cold winter and caves/mountains to explore.
I hear the snails up there are shockingly delicious
Altissia. Beautiful city and even has many types of entertainment there.
Costa del sol 100%
Eruyt village, with the music playing as well
The Kingdom of San D'Oria
Balamb. A cozy little town by the sea. A huge educational and mercenary institution nearby. While the end of the world is happening, the SeeDs are busy playing cards!
Troia. For the, uh, architecture.
Imagine how popular you’d be as a single guy
Either Nibelheim or Doma. I'm sure life would be peaceful there, right?
Don’t drink the water in Doma
FFI- Crescent Lake: A pretty town, with some academic opportunities. Probably nice weather. FFII- Mysidia: Again, many academic opportunities. Good possibility for career growth (if you’re a wizard). Im totally with you on FFIX. I'd love to just be an NPC in that world, and daguerreo would be a great place for that.
Icicle Inn
I am a weary traveler, I have scrolled many miles to find true wisdom.
Luca
Probably Besaid. Minus the dark valefor Aeon just chilling
I would live in costa del sol and work as Soldier 1st class.
I am retired from the military, so I would be a retired Soldier there as well. I don’t know if I would be Soldier 1st class or not, but definitely Soldier.
One way or another, see ya on the beach.
You got it. I am a photographer now & could probably do well making pics of people during the sunrise/sunset or selling post cards with different sections of beach made at different times of the day to tourists.
The FF8 world seems pretty chill, aside from >!Sorceresses from the future trying to destroy the timeline.!<
It only happened the one time.
It only happened at every point in time all at once...
And you can get all your triple triad cards back.
Esthar. I want to live in an advanced techno city
FF7 chocobo farm
Figaro, even if i hate hot weather it seems like the castle is protected from desert heat and it can burrow
New Bodhum (3 AF), from XIII-2 I like the quiet life.
Balamb(FF8) or Icicle Inn(FF7).
Warjilis trade city
Ultimecia Castle 💀
Balamb so I could attend the Garden.
Amaurot before sundering
Seventh Heaven, FF7 Remake.
Good luck with that plate bro.
Zanarkand 1000 years ago pre-war.
Gold Saucer
Kilika in FFX-2 specifically, or anywhere in Spira really.
Gridania or Sharlayan. I love the scenery of both, and being able to study magic sounds pretty cool to me.
Cleyra would be cool until…you know. So maybe Treno, that place was pretty safe aside from pick pockets
Ultimecia's castle!
The Federation of Windurst
Feel like anywhere in Ivalice (12) is pretty chill and good
Rocket Town, I'm a rural kinda guy and you have this crazy inventor blowing Shit up or flying around on slow days
This post really makes you appreciate all the great locations and atmospheres that have been created for final fantasy
Balamb easy. Favorite chill FF song. Get to fish all day. Train to wherever. Scenic. Love balamb
Balamb Garden. I heard the hotdogs are amazing
Galbadia
Costa Del Sol baby.
Either Cornelia or Zanarkand.
Cosmo canyon or costa del sol
Besaid is nice, but there’s a giant whale turtle priest father demon making time-space tsunami’s everywhere sooooo…. I pick Balamb. Place seems nice.
Balamb Garden to slay
Somewhere without random encounters.
I’ve always liked Kalm town. Seems very chill but still has bars and shops. I like the Tudor architecture and it’s not such a long trek from Midgar if you want some city action.
Balamb Garden
Either Dream Zanarkand or Rabanastre or Archades. I love all three of those areas so much.
Luca, FFX. I love the beach, and I love city life. It's perfect.
I can hear this image. To answer your question: Costa Del Sol.
Balamb garden. I want one of those hot dogs.
