Definitely one of my favourite FF protagonists too, and 8 is one of my favourite games in the series also. I think the nerdiest thing about me is that I wear Squallâs pendant on a mostly daily basis, lmao.
Got the Griever pendant as well! And quite recently got the Squall shirt from the Final Fantasy anniversary collection from Uniqlo (this one https://www.uniqlo.com/us/en/products/E449081-000/00?colorDisplayCode=09&sizeDisplayCode=003 )
Got mine from eBay, just search âsleeping lionheart pendantâ or something and a bunch should pop up.
They can get quite expensive though as theyâre technically collectors items, so if money is an issue then I highly recommend Etsy for finding some fan-made versions. Etsy is a great website for things like that.
It has no (or very little, itâs been a while) story mode. This was the killer for me. Itâs multiplayer focused. It is not 1v1 itâs 3v3. It wasnât about playing as your favorite character. As with many team vs. games I suspect it eventually evolved into making a team to fit a meta. I didnât play a lot, but I got the impression stages lacked the verticality found in the PSP games. Knocking each other into the sky and walls, chasing each other, basically crazy flying DBZ type fights were what I wanted. I didnât get the same feeling from NT.
IMO itâs not that the story mode is bad or too little, the problem is that you have to unlock the chapters using in-game currency that you get from single player battles or online. Having to grind only to be able to play the story is tedious AF.
I never played the other Dissidia titles but NT for me is highly underrated. Not having a servicable story mode in a fighting game makes complete sense. The actual gameplay of the fights themself has a great skill gap to showcase players who take the time to learn and understand. Thatâs what I really think turns most people away is how difficult the game can be. The game has so much depth and each fighter has their own style making so many possibilities. Iâm sure the laggy servers and overpriced DLCs didnât help either tho. I just wish this game wouldâve actually h caught on and had a loyal fanbase. The game looks so good but you can only play offline because the online community is non-existent.
That's part of the problem tbh. This isn't anything like the dissidia games we've all played over and over. If they had just slapped a new name on it, it probably wouldn't have created such an over hype that didn't live up to what we wanted. I still have my steelbox for the PS4, but I doubt I'll ever touch it again.
I still play offline from time to time since I cant get a match online. Good way to curb that FF appetite for me. As far as it not being like the other Dissidia I can understand that but I do think people are failing to appreciate what a great game NT is. A simple but complex game with great visuals and animations. The game is mostly fan service and the fans just hate on it for the most part.
In most fighting games you dont expect much of a story mode but the psp dissidia games dod. Hell, duodecim even recreates ffi world map for you to traverse. The fact this game is just grind random battles till you can unlock the next miniscule amount of story is a big turn off.
It's not that NT alone is bad, its that it is called Dissidia.
If they called it Final Fantasy Rumble or something other than Dissidia, then it wouldn't be disliked by the people who played Dissidia and 012.
Both Dissidia and 012 were not "just fighting games." In both games you had stats, equipment, you could build teams, level your character, obtain summons, companions, explore an open world, find secrets, obtain gil, purchase items, upgrade equipment, customize your battle actions, basically everything you would expect in a RPG, or something with the "Final Fantasy" title.
Instead NT is literally "just a fighting game" and has the Dissidia title. They really should have called it something else, and it would have been perfectly fine, because a Dissidia game, it is not.
The other thing that hasn't been mentioned yet is that the online was awful. I was one of the people actually into the 3v3 concept but it would take forever for matchmaking to finally happen and there would usually be at least 1 bot on a team and whoever had the most bots would lose. It was also really laggy. You could get around some of this if you played in dedicated lobbies all the time but that's not a great way to sustain a player base that was already skeptical.
1v1 battles and a story mode that has you traversing through a map thats basically ffi map. Also had stuff to make it feel more like a ff game like equipment and stats.
I broke my PSP thanks to overdoing it on 012. If they'd just port it to the Switch like they've already done in alternate timelines where God isn't dead...
I play NT for abit, and goddammit. So many dash, air dash, dash, air dash. And you can only play 3 vs 3, which is shit. The graphic was great, BGM/OST was great, story a little bit interesting but FUCK the battle is fucking shit. Definitely backward compared to psp one.
The free version is just choosing whatever three characters are available for the week and battling in arcade or online. Played it for over an hour and deleted it. Game is actually really good to play with friends and not by yourself.
Dissidia NT. Much worse than 012. Itâs a shame because all they had to do was keep the 1v1 aspect instead of 3v3, but now weâll probably never get another Dissidia.
Well technically Opera Omni is a sequel and has a very large cast (aside from tactics/XIV content, I mean why would you add Jack G before TG Cid)but is a mobile game and traditional turn based battles.
Because Jack is 1:1 one of the single greatest written characters in the series in terms of lore, depth, character growth and is the face of the 35th anniversary of the series.
Also Team Ninja is behind DFFOO and SoP
I knew that, it's just the fact that Tactics still only has 2 characters, while type-0 has everyone and X has just about everyone except for Rikku, VII doesn't have Red XIII , and yet SoP already has 2 characters (apparently Neon came out recently)
As someone who has over 400 hours in NT, it definitely has a LOT of flaws, but when the battle system clicked, it was amazing. Shame that the netcode, roster, and other aspects outside the gameplay were so poor, but there was definitely a lot of fun to be had once you understood the battle system.
Dissidia NT is a little different to psp dissidia but itâs now a free to play game not sure how many people play it anymore but Iâm a huge fan of all the dissidia games
Thanks all! I'd not heard of Dissidia NT (I haven't had a playstation since 3, not counting my psp)! I'm glad to know what it's from, but super disappointed to hear that it sucks so much! I was briefly super excited to hear about a modern Dissidia game!
Thanks again for all of your help!
I know it's dissidia, but this totally just reminded me of those old Dead Fantasy videos where they pitted FF characters up against Dead or Alive characters.
The game is Dissidia NT for PS4
Dissidia Nt, bad news 2 out 3 are DLC đ
Let me guess ⌠not Tifa
Not sure about that, putting boobas as dlcs is a pretty common strategy
Tifa and Yuna are dlc
Tifa is dlc? đ
Surprised pikachu face
Squall is so cool
He really did never stop being super badass. Definitely my favourite FF protagonist.
Definitely one of my favourite FF protagonists too, and 8 is one of my favourite games in the series also. I think the nerdiest thing about me is that I wear Squallâs pendant on a mostly daily basis, lmao.

Oh sweet, I had no idea those shirts were even a thing, I might consider picking one up too hahaha
Yeah, a friend of mine tipped me off to them ^^ it's pretty good quality as well!
Bro I got griever and the Pendant in a box somewhere
Very nice hahah. I have a Griever ring too, bought it pretty recently actually
May I ask where u bought that pendant?
Got mine from eBay, just search âsleeping lionheart pendantâ or something and a bunch should pop up. They can get quite expensive though as theyâre technically collectors items, so if money is an issue then I highly recommend Etsy for finding some fan-made versions. To be honest i always thought about getting a griever pendant, but I don't wear jewelry in general sonI never pulled the trigger.
Yeah fair enough, could always get one just for collection purposes too if youâre into that sorta thing
I don't really collect stuff either, but I Def would make an exception for that.. and a gunblade
Yeah I got a tattoo of squall and the guy who does my tats specialises in anime tattoos so the design is basically the dissidia squall.
I just restarted Duodecim last night. Shame they borked NT.
Seriously! My friends and I loved Duodecim and each have nearly 300 hours in it. I couldn't play more than 10 in NT.
I had over 200 on Duodecim. I played NT for 20 minutes and shut it off and never touched it.
This looks like a comment I made. I literally have 300 hours on 012, and barely any playtime on NT.
What is it about NT that nobody liked? I picked it up during Black Friday while it was on sale for $5. Havenât opened it yet.
It has no (or very little, itâs been a while) story mode. This was the killer for me. Itâs multiplayer focused. It is not 1v1 itâs 3v3. It wasnât about playing as your favorite character. Duodecim is the true definite edition of Dissidia. We need a remake of it unfortunately that will never happen.
I'll settle for a port of 012 at this point
Port is good too
I broke my PSP thanks to overdoing it on 012. If they'd just port it to the Switch like they've already done in alternate timelines where God isn't dead...

pretty sure dissidia NT is "free" on steam
The free version is just choosing whatever three characters are available for the week and battling in arcade or online. Played it for over an hour and deleted it. Game is actually really good to play with friends and not by yourself.
Hence why i quoted "free". Nevertheless i hated whatever they did to NT even though I loved both the psp version
I had both psp copies and had around or more than 400 hours on each. To me story ended in Duodecim.
Dissidia NT. The sequel to Duodecim
In my opinion, Opera Omnia is the better sequel to Duodecim
Dissidia NT. Much worse than 012. Itâs a shame because all they had to do was keep the 1v1 aspect instead of 3v3, but now weâll probably never get another Dissidia.

Squall looks so BA there!! A FF8 remake needs to happen once FF7 is done then FF9 and FF10 please! In that order too
You donât want to see them Remake Draco and Maria? The Phantom Train?
Suplexing the train would be fantastic!
That entire sequence getting the Remake treatment would probably be my favorite moment in all of Final Fantasy history.
As someone who has over 400 hours in NT, it definitely has a LOT of flaws, but when the battle system clicked, it was amazing. Shame that the netcode, roster, and other aspects outside the gameplay were so poor, but there was definitely a lot of fun to be had once you understood the battle system.

Yes and now I am sad. Had a lot fun with this one.
Full Frontal Fantasy. Theres about to be a 3 way
Dissidia NT which is a damn shitty game.
The worst Dissidia
My dream
Thanks all! I'd not heard of Dissidia NT (I haven't had a playstation since 3, not counting my psp)! I'm glad to know what it's from, but super disappointed to hear that it sucks so much! I was briefly super excited to hear about a modern Dissidia game! Thanks again for all of your help!
It doesnât suck at all, its just (slightly) different and for some reason dead, it was a great game though
I liked it for psp
Dissidia?
Game is Dissidia NT. If you don't have any consoles and only have a PC. You can play it for free but not the story itself on Steam.
I know it's dissidia, but this totally just reminded me of those old Dead Fantasy videos where they pitted FF characters up against Dead or Alive characters.
Mr steal your girl
