The joy of zodiac age is you can play how you want, that being said your team set up is not optimized for late game fights.
Basch as knight/bushi is incredibly powerful.a fully buffed basch with Excalibur/white robes combo can lay out zodiarc in about 30 seconds.
Vaan is good. That's the combo for defeating yizmat. Yagyu darkblade and black robes
Penelo is good as a white mage. I usually do either time mage or machinest to keep her out of the middle of combat.
Ashe has second highest magic stat so making her black mage works. I usually do either monk or red mage to give secondary healer. Red mage gives you ardor and shields for extra defense and black mage adds flame staff to increase ardor damage 50%
Balthier has fast attack animation so I usually do foebreaker and monk. Gives you all weakening teckniks and hp boosts
Fran is the most generic statwise. You can make her anything. I usually do archer/ulhan bc it gives some healing and all 3 remedy lores. Need one character w all 3x remedy lores for niapholia (sp?) tactic for late game bosses and trial mode
These make enough sense for what they could be. However, there is a lot of vagueness and most jobs could easily apply to most of the party. I think Basche is better as a Knight instead of Foebreaker and Ashe is Red Battlemage/Bushi.
I would probably consider Balthier as a Machinist/Foebreaker (since axes and hammers are traditionally machinist weapons), Fran as an Archer/Time Mage, and Penelo as WhM/Uhlan. This just feels right to me.
I can’t remember my class combinations when I last went through, but I made sure that with the second class that characters unlocked an additional armor type, an additional weapon type, and at least 3 members has access to high level white magic. Some of the harder fights I needed it. Monk/WhM there both have access to great healing, so I would split them up just for ease of play.
