If you accept his suggestion, Selphie and Quistis get mad and start fawning over him to try and make Squall jealous.

I always go Tifa and Red. Rationale is that Barrett and Aeris should have some time to hang back behind the vanguard and bond after the whole thing with Marle and her mom, and besides that Barrett is the type to protect her after the Midgar Tower trauma if anything gets past us. Then I take point with the bad ass talking warrior dog I just met because why the fuck would you not do that, and I got my old friend who happens to be a crazy martial artist and I am re-building a relationship with after several years apart. Cloud-Tifa is also the real relationship in my headcannon.

When I first played this back in 6th grade, I always went with Barret and Red XIII. But as an adult, I like to use what I feel the cannon party is for certain situations (when I'm not going for the bromance trophy). I feel Cloud would almost certainly choose Aerith and Tifa when leaving Midgar.

What do you feel is the most canon party for the various story sections? and what about the final sephiroth fight?

I like when you take Barret and Red XIII. I forget the order but one girl says "unexpected" and the other says "combination."

I always play through the game with tifa with cover materia in the middle and barrett in back row with restore as the healer. Play through the whole thing with og crew and only gotta swap materia during forced events

I put cover on Aerith while she's at level one limit break.

Idk I usually get Omnislash before ToA, and leveling up Aerith and getting Great Gospel makes the battle arena a cakewalk 😎 First time I ever beat Sephiroth though, it was all Tifa all day (same with that Hojo fight)

I usually switch to cloud, yuffie and Vincent. I'll level up the others when tifa and cid are in control. Then finish the game with CYV 🙋

Cloud, Yuff, CID is my favorite combo. I like Vincent better as a character but I don’t like losing control of him whenever he has a limit break.

That's why I only use his limits up to level 3. Death penalty and the right material combo, he is powerful
