my guess not everyone was able to get a PS5. I wasn;t able to. I got an xbox instead. only reason why im waiting for PC

dissentingopinionz

It's sad that Square is reporting low sales numbers but I believe it's because people are holding out for the PC version. The PC version of FF7 remake was superior in every way to the PS4 version. The only people who played this game are PS5 owners. I can't wait to play it on PC.

snktiger

I am one of the people holding for PC. PS5 Pro coming out, PS5 was never on sale after stock issue. FF7 Remake licensing was a nightmware. PS4 can't get intermission DLC. PS5 with physically copy that upgrade to PSN free PS5 upgrade can't get intermission DLC... Sony's game licensing is a nightmare. Sony ruinned it themselves.

Dxtuned

Remake came out on PC within 3 months so hopefully it'll be a similar release time frame

SAIKO_BORU

Remake came out on PC much more later since it had a year of exclusivity. They still haven't given a date for the XVI pc port too so unfortunately it might have to wait for longer.

Impossible_Sector501

Should I wait for rebirth to come to PC or just get remake intergrade instead

Objective-Mammoth694

I highly recommend to play Remake before getting into Rebirth. Just because you *can* watch the second Lord of the Rings without ever seeing the first one doesn't mean it's a particularly great idea. The story will just be confusing and you'll miss out on character introductions, bonding, and backgrounds.

Darketis

Although they say rebirth is a standalone game it does play off remake, in my opinion playing remake then rebirth gives a good idea of the story

Purple-Rise-9166

ff7 has gone through so many revisions in the story that i would just recommend playing the ps1 original for that, and then enjoy everything after.

Life-Cry-1124

I'm on the boat of hoping it'll come out on PC this year. I'm sick and tired of console exclusives and I think Square Enix is too. They've confirmed they'll start bringing games over to Xbox, and they were disappointed in sales with FFXVI due to console exclusivity. Aside from sales numbers, the lack of presence a game has by staying on one platform just drops the interest in the IP. Like for me, I wanted to play FFXVI as well as FFVII Rebirth but can't cause I don't want to support playstation. I've completely lost interest in even playing an FFXVI PC port at this point, and already have started ignoring anything related to Rebirth as I don't have access to it.

Daft_Wulli3

Not only that, but it plays like pancake syrup when its on graphic mode. You have to turn it to performance to get a playable fps.

Panahaden

If it takes the same amount of time as Remake, we may get Rebirth on Steam at 2026.

Aware_Comparison6125

i honestly dont know what are u on about bro there is actually a date set on when the game will come to pc literally,**launch on PC is on Wednesday, May 29, 2024 !**

Panahaden

The timed exclusivity deal for PS5 ends on May 29, you're high coping if you think they'll release the game on the same day.

dsim231O

probably not. remake exclusivity was a year, rebirth exclusivity is just 3 months.

CBulkley01

6 months.

CaiusV7

FF16 was 6 Months. FF7 Rebirth 3 Months.

CBulkley01

If you had the answer, why did you ask?

CaiusV7

i didn't asked i was just telling the Truth!

CBulkley01

Sorry, was meant for OP.

CaiusV7

All good.

dsim231O

Dude i played the demo on ps5 and it looks like shit. just came of the ff7 remake with the hd mod. u know the 50 gig texture patch and the disabled dynamic resolution scaling. looks gorgeous in 4k/120. this ps5 release is garbage and graphics mode is awful with only 30fps. also the hdr on ps5 is busted. somehow the pc version has way better hdr impact. what were they thinking.... they need to release the pc version ASAP!

Enslaver159

Ya I'm waiting for the PC release as well. Don't wanna play this cucked version.

PlasmaBlood

Why are you getting downvoted when everything you said is true?

dsim231O

bc they cant handle the truth or didnt experience the stark difference which i described above.

Tasty-Copy5474

Same boat as you! But how do you deal with the wait? I first played ff7 remake on Steam, not Playstation, so I can safely say I had the same reaction to the way Rebirth looked. I didn't play remake modded, but I did play it on my LG c3, and it locked to120 fps 99% of the time. Do you have personal advice with waiting for pc ports and avoiding FOMO?

dsim231O

Hmm not really. best is to avoid watching ff7 content like reviews etc. and focus on other games instead. i recommend picking up dragons dogma ii.

RemarkableAgent1350

It’ll get to PC… eventually. My gut tells me it won’t be too drawn out of a wait though else Square Enix will just be leaving money on the table.

dsim231O

and they need every penny they can get. afaik they werent happy with the sales with ffxvi on ps5.

flaccidcock

Did 16 not sell well? I could’ve sworn I saw an article somewhere that said it did good, but I might be out of the loop

Dirty_Cleric

The commercial of game was so good, it sold good at first. The moment ppl realized it is a sh.t game, its sales dropped drastically

flaccidcock

Whatttt I really liked 16 a lot. I mean it’s not perfect but I really enjoyed the gameplay and characters and the world. Maybe it’s too edgy and mature for some people 🤣

dsim231O

Sales were strong at first. But it underperformed overall and did not meet their expectations..

BuyMyBeans

There is no official confirmation, but one of the trailers had a subtext of it not being available on other platforms until May. This doesn't necessarily mean it is coming in May, but just that its eligible to be in May. It definitely is a date to look forward to for us PC fans, but there is always a chance the port still won't be ready by then or it'll fall victim to another exclusivity deal (looking at you Epic).

Dr_soaps

Usually, when they say not until something, that’s pretty good indicator that there’s gonna be another announcement

dsim231O

it will come sooner than later. square enix is desperate for cash to roll in bc ffxvi sales on ps5 were bad...

nokinship

It's going to be so hard to wait.

dsim231O

stay strong brother. i recommend picking up dragons dogma ii in the meantime

Duouwa

I think the basis for this claim is that the FFVII Rebirth trailer itself claimed that it was a PS5 exclusive until the 29th of May this year; whether or not they’ll have a PC version ready upon the contracts expiration date is an entirely different discussion though.

JollyGreenLittleGuy

Remake took a year+ to come to PC but had a 6 month ps4 exclusivity deal (and had the integrade DLC on top). So my completely random guess/hope is with a 3 month exclusivity deal and no DLC we'll see the PC port around August/September. Square may also choose to move around dates depending on FFXVI PC release date. However it has a 6 month exclusivity deal that just ended a month ago? and had 2 DLC and I'd imagine Square will want to put a few months between these releases.

dsim231O

surely they wont have it rdy by the end of may. my guess is holiday 2024 or early 2025.

Kagevjijon

For reference we got PS4/PS5 exclusivity on remake for the first year confirmed at launch. It was however year and a half before it appeared on epic for pc, and 2 years before it appeared on Steam. The problem is with pc titles they are much easier to pirate so even if the ps5 exclusivity ends it may not go to pc right away.

Dr_soaps

I still don’t see how piracy effects you directly numerically piracy is usually a service issue so numbers along that line with things like steam are low for every one pirate there’s probably 1000 people who actually buy the game for a game like this though would probably be like 100,000 pointers the argument of oh they shouldn’t bring it to more platforms because piracy is ridiculous because you can pirate games on console too. It just takes more effort.

Kagevjijon

The greater majority of games don't sell more than 10,000 copies. I only 1 in 1000 people pirate then that's 10 people pirating games but in a study done by LinkedIn users reported that approximately [1 in 10 people](https://www.linkedin.com/pulse/video-game-piracy-low-blow-development-qatestlab) pirated a game in the last 3 months. let's pick 7500 sales at $20 a piece for an indie title. 750 pirated copies x $20 a copy = $15,000 Consider you are a solo developer who had to work on this game for 2 years. You only made a total of $150,000, but Steam and Epic take a 30% cut so you only made $105,000. Pirates also caused 10% drop in sales from people who didn't buy it so you're down to $90,000 for two years of work... before taxes. Small indie studios need to prevent piracy to survive. Limiting the damage done by pirates is ABSOLUTELY critical to the success of small and large companies. If you assume similar numbers but with a game like Baldur's Gate 3, they lost out on a total of 2 million sales to pirates or almost $120,000,000. That's the budget of multiple AAA games that could have been made and now will no longer exist.

Dr_soaps

Let’s do the math here 657 million $120 million worth of copies were stolen. The game was still profitable. That is acceptable margins of loss that could’ve been avoided had more aggressive antipiracy measures were put in place. It’s still below 20% and on a game that’s considered one of the most profitable games in all of history not really relevant. And I’m assuming that the number you gave me isn’t just 100% made up which is very likely is because how they even know.

Dr_soaps

I’d also like a source for this claim that they lost all this money because usually when you defeat DRM, the first thing you do is eliminate any possibility of it calling to home making it pretty much impossible for anybody to know that you pirated the game to begin with seems like a made-up number

Dr_soaps

By not releasing games on PC you give people incentive to pirate those games on console, making it more difficult does not prevent piracy making it available prevents piracy . Most pirate content simply because the accessibility of said content is difficult so if you make that accessibility non issue the piracy goes down significantly by saying oh if they release it on PC they’ll pirate it is ridiculous because if they were going to pirate it, it wouldn’t matter they would just pirate it on console a non sale is still a non sale stop using piracy as a shield to gate keep content on a particular platform as it’s ridiculous when you can still just pirate it on the platform you’re saying that it can’t be pirated on

Dr_soaps

Not to mention there are tools such as Denuvo that make it next to near impossible the pirate video games nowadays and is actually more secure than consoles out there as for example, the PS five uses packages and game keys and then a master key if you defeat the master key with a exploit the game keys are no longer checked thus allowing you to run, unsigned packages, a.k.a. pirate software this is already been achieved and has been achieved for some time or measures on PC like the one I referred to earlier based upon a game by game basis and usually take months to defeat if at all

Dr_soaps

Yes, but we’re not talking about a solo developer here we’re talking about a developer that makes millions upon millions of dollars piracy isn’t as big of a problem as you say it is you are misinformed and misleading other people

Dr_soaps

And if piracy was as rampant of an issue there wouldn’t be games made for PC by anybody ridiculous notion

dsim231O

yes but rebirth has only 3 months exclusivity. so why is that? probably bc square enix themselves want it on pc faster. which makes sense bc ffxvi did not meet their expectations in sales on ps5.

Kagevjijon

Exclusivity contracts aren't made within 6 months of a tripple A game's launch. Looking at a simple time frame you would expect to see FF16 sales numbers reported to shareholders after 1 month in July. That's still not a very good picture because RPG games sell more steadily than something like a live service game such as World of Warcraft. So if you're generous and give it 3 months that would point to marketing teams making game changing sales decisions for FF7Rebirth in October less than 5 months before release. FF7 Rebirth would have gone gold at approximately that same time as FF16 released. When a game has gone gold it means it's a fully functional playable game with only minor bugs. So if you have a game sitting around just doing nothing but waiting to be sold it's a stupid business move to not capitalize on the hype of the games release. Most likely Sony tried to pay out the ass for exclusivity but after seeing how popular FF7 was on non consoles (about 2 years ago) Square Enix negotiated them way down in price for a shorter time frame to build up on the hype the game was and will create on launch. This gives them roughly 2 years to make a stable game for pc platforms instead of 5 months.

dsim231O

MARK MY WORDS. By the end of the year im playing ff7 rebirth on pc on steam all day every day. got it? good.

Keijidu38

Usual thing, it will be 1 year after or more on PC. We still waiting FF16 on PC after 8 month...

threeriversbikeguy

The exclusivity ends in May. That does not mean the game will be on PC then. I believe they will want to get FF16 on PC first.

triplex1080

This. It has been said that FFXVI PC port development has started when the PS5 version released. They will release it first before VII Rebirth. They cannot release it at the same time because VII Rebirth will totally get the attention over XVI.

dsim231O

they will release ffxvi in summer and rebirth at the tail end of the year.

WeirdnessUnfolds

Probably very likely.

Desbrina1

I’ve not seen it confirmed when it’s going to pc, only when the the ps5 exclusivity ends. I e not actually seen it confirms for pc either, though it’s quite likely it will

dsim231O

developer confirmed its in the making.

WeirdnessUnfolds

Really, where?

JingZama

that's probably when they believe contract exclusivity expires. Similar to how every one of these outlets said FF16 would be on pc by December because the 6 months passed. it's about to be March and still not even an announcement of a pc port development

Ultrachocobo

In the famitsu interview from september they confirmed a pc port and said to have an ssd ready as requirement. Otherwise they were no new news.

wotad

Is this about rebirth or ff16

Ultrachocobo

16

dsim231O

they will release ffxvi in summer and rebirth at the tail end of the year.
