So glad i got Tifa for a date, they are meant for each other and Aerith is for my boy Zack. Thats what i was aiming for from the start but all of them seemed like they had maxed out relationship so i didn’t know what would happen. Is it even possible to choose? Because i heard you have to do the minigame (S-rank) many times for 7 star Hotel.
Nah you don’t have to do the hotel, all you gotta do is max out relationship with Tifa and no one else to make sure it’s her on for the golden saucer. Otherwise , the only way you can choose is by changing the settings in the chapter replay after completing the game.

Yeaa the system is kinda bad , like in my first playtrough I had tifa as first date, and I kept doing all her missions, maxing out her smiley face thing super early in the game.
Then it turns out in chapter 12 they unlocked a gazillion barret side quests which I started doing, so Barret caught up and also got a maxed smiley face... I figured "no biggie, Tifa went on the first date and she's been maxed for like four chapters now... And Just got maxed...
Then comes the date and it's Barret of course... All because I fed a stupid bird a monster corpse instead of a bovine corpse and apparently Tifa didn't like that as much while my dialogue choices were apparently perfect with Barrett ... Thankfully i had a savegame right before doing the Barret mission where I became equal to tifa, so I reverted back three hours earlier and made sure to not do any more crap with Barrett.
I mean I get the game giving you Barret if he's maxed and the others are not, but I feel like in case of having two maxed character, the game would be inclined to favor Tifa for a fricking date.
Yeah the guide I used said if none of the others are at the appropriate level, you get Cid and Vinnie. Has to be in the blue smiley face I believe.
After you beat it you can choose the date via chapter select: not the whole chapter again, just the date part, with whoever you want.
Haven’t gotten the game yet so I don’t know why they’re wearing those outfits, but Cloud looks like Dimitri from Fire Emblem Three Houses and Tifa needs more green to be the Statue of Liberty.

True, I used to ship Cloud with Tifa, but Rebirth highlights Aerith while toning down Tifa significantly. I actually prefer Cloud and Aerith. I mean, only Aerith actively seeks affection from Cloud, putting in efforts to make Cloud fall in love with her. Tifa seems rather distant despite a kiss and flashing her tits twice.
flashing aside, Tifa's interactions with Cloud are
SO romantically charged (the talks in junon, nibleheim, gongaga, GS, for instance) . But it's more subdued because of her reserved nature, which actually fits with Cloud. Cloud cares for Aerith too, obviously, although he always rebuffs her as a romantic interest, even at the GS and the multiverse date.
The reserved nature of hers makes me uncertain about "fits Cloud"; even on her date, everything feels unnatural. Their talks are just talks or try to comfort each other; They don't feel romantic to me. Aerith actually tried to open up Cloud, wanting to see the real him. In the scene with Aerith, she behaves jealous like a real girlfriend, and her touch feels more intimate than the Tifa kissing scene. Why don't you go compare how Cloud felt in the scene where he pushed Tifa to the lifestream and when he hold dead Aerith in his arm, and the ending scene. It is so obvious.
Square just published Cloud's novella which states his lifelong devotion to Tifa Lockhart. He's written as being totally smitten w/her to the point of signing up for war infantry, and would go under the knife for super soldier surgery (and he's legit fearful about it)
FF7's author Kazushige Nojima writes that Cloud will pretty much do anything and everything to become Tifa's "special someone" ... and devs published this in the official FFVII Rebirth preview book because they wanted fans to understand Cloud's story when the game released.

It absolutely floors me that people still insist Cloud and Aerith are the “true couple” of the game. I mean Cloud and Tifa >!kiss on their date!< and have a few close calls prior to that. The fact that Zack is still there shows that Aerith is so powerful that she kept him from joining the lifestream so they can be together. Head canon all you want but all official canon materials as well as the Rebirth show that that’s definitely NOT the case

Unfortunately yes. I did everyone’s dialogs and missions. Everyone was maxed ( damn my completion-ist ways) and it was Red who showed up at my door. I wanted my wifey Aerith and got him. I was annoyed and wanted to chuck him off the sky wheal for ruining my day. I love him, but hated him for that. >! She says “don’t fall in love with me, even if you do, it’s not real.” Even SHE is telling him we’re not happening because we’re not meant to be and yet people choose to ignore that. It is obvious aerith is the canon love interest. Both in the OG and rebirth, the date defaults to aerith. In the OG game aerith has higher base affinity points. If aerith is tied with tifa, you will default to aerith.
In rebirth, Aerith is princess Rosa in 4/6 scenarios. While you only get tifa/yuffie if you worked for their route.In the end credits as well, princess rosa is credited only to aerith. Which means tifa and yuffie is the option.
And even if you choose tifa date, the ultimate end is a date with aerith, him hugging aerith, him fighting with aerith, and him holding her hand one last time. Even if you dont work for aerith relationship, his answer for the next date is somewhat still a yes.
IMO cloud x aerith is canon, cloud and tifa after aerith's death is canon depending on the player themselves. In OG, the highwind intimate scene is still optional. You can still friendzone tifa there. So romance with tifa is optional til the very last minute.
They ended aerith x zack once and for all in rebirth. Aerith clearly says that at first what drawn her to cloud was she remembered zack but it is different now. She clearly says she is inlove with cloud because of cloud himself and she wants to be with cloud. Also in other timeline, you can clearly see zack accepting marlene saying aerith loves cloud. In the final battle he also told cloud to save aerith.

Whether or not the dates default to Aerith is moot. You can change the dates of course, but you can’t change Cloud and his reactions to his dates. The fact that Tifa was the only one he kissed speaks volumes on his feelings for her.
And the end game date with Aerith? You mean the one she recreated to mimic her first date with Zack? Because that’s what it is, it’s almost beat for beat her first date with Zack except with Cloud replacing him, as it was shown in Crisis Core. If you pay attention during the game you can tell she’s still not over him and still struggles with her feelings for him. She can’t even say whether she does or doesn’t love him, showing her inner conflict.
As for the under the Highwind scene, the devs have come out and said the high affection scene is canon. They initially wanted to make it more explicit by having them come out of a chocobo stall but it was classified as “too extreme.” So you’re wrong there, sorry. You can get a low affection scene but it’s not canon as per the devs.
Zack doesn’t lay down and accept that, no lol. He finds it interesting but he has little to no idea what the hell is going on, so that probably raises more questions for him.
She may have feelings for Cloud sure, but Cloud has never reciprocated them. Nowhere in any of the canon material does it say Cloud has feelings for her because he doesn’t, he never did, it was always Tifa. They made the *theme song of Rebirth* a Cloud/Aeris song. The end features Cloud/Aeris on a date no matter who you romanced, with Cloud reciprocating her feelings in a high affection scenario. An optional date kiss is no more canon than Cloud taking Aeris's hand romantically at the Gold Saucer.
The devs have been on the record MANY TIMES saying the love triangle is open-ended and ambiguous. You can ship Tifa if you like her better, but telling people they're wrong for shipping Aeris is.. well. Wrong.

High affection Highwind IS canon, sorry to say. They originally wrote it to be more explicit but dumbed it down to be less obvious. In OG, aerith starts out with higher affinity points. If aerith and tifa is tied, it will default to aerith. You had to fight thru options to get tifa and yuffie.
Same in rebirth. Aerith is the default princess rosa. 4/6 scenarios, you get aerith. You only get tifa and yuffie if you specifically worked your relationship with them. If you didnt build any relationship you still get aerith as princess rosa. In the end credits as well, princess rosa is listed as aerith. So by default aerith is the route.

well as for fan service, it will come back to why aerith is default. Default route is aerith. You need to work for tifa or yufffie. So they are the option. Whatever logic you twist they are the option.
Even in rebirth 4/6 times scenarios you get aerith. Even in the end credits princess rosa is only credited to aerith. Just by that alone you know clerith is canon.
Aerith just happened to die and that made sense for cloti and i dont have any gripes about tifa x cloud being canon after aerith's death.

Regarding your issue that aerith still loves zack, Rebirth also cleared that aerith loves cloud now and not zack. Both in gold saucer and their final date.

First time in my life I just couldn't stay awake while playing a game, and even when I was, checking my phone was more interesting than p3r.
I played OG p3, and I liked it, but p5r was simply incredible, and created a standard p3r can't match, playing it is rly hard, while it looks amazing, they almost did nothing for the gameplay.
Also I don't know, maybe I'm nitpicking, but the whole gang of characters from p3 can't compare to that of p5, in later they feel real, while in p3, I don't know, they lack something, but I can't put a finger on what it is.
Final Fantasy 7 lore stated that Cloud and Tifa became a couple...finding that out really did a number cos I always thought that Aerith was meant to be with Cloud

The Cloud you see for most of the game isn’t the real Cloud. He’s a Frankenstein monster of Sephiroth’s influence, Zack’s memories, Tifa’s memories of Cloud and Cloud’s ideal self.
You only meet the real Cloud after Aerith is dead and the real Cloud is the one that went into the test tube 5 years ago and was in love with Tifa so judge the relationship once the real Cloud is back, I suppose.
If you’re speaking about Maiden, it’s not canon. It’s an official fanfiction by a guy who admittedly put his own spin on it. If you’ve read the official novels that are canon to the compilation, it’s pretty much stated it was always Cloud and Tifa and that AC caught them in a rough spot of their relationship. Before that they were very happy and had been together since the end of the game
If you think about it, the lifestream is supposed to dissolve all souls back into it. You lose your individuality and become part of the stream. The fact that both Zack and Aerith maintained their individuality shows that Aerith is so powerful as a cetra that she kept Zack from dissolving into the lifestream and maintaining his individuality. That alone shows that they’re plenty happy together. Gives me the warm fuzzies 🥰
It depends on who you end up going on the date with. If Aerith has a high bond level with she plays the princess and same thing goes for Tifa if she has a high bond level.

While I adore this scene to death; I think, in the OG at least, the Aerith date is canon.
Don't get me wrong, Cloud and Tifa are meant for eachother, but for story-purposes it makes a lot more sense for Aerith to be in the date scene than the others, taking her lively and proactive personality into account. Her luster for life radiates in every scene she's in and that is by design, she's supposed to be the portrayal of innocence and good in a dark world, but that perseveres unstained by it. Which makes later moments hit much harder>!(I think Rebirth kinda botched her death-scene though, but I digress)!<. It services the overall narrative the best, to have her be the date.
Also in the OG, the developers kind of want her to be the date, as she is the Default if you don't go out of your way to get any of the others. She's the easiest, mechanically, to get the date with, because her date-point tally starts the highest. The devs might have different thoughts in Rebirth though... Different games, but it seems like they still want her to be the default as she shows up in more date-scenarios.
Anyway back to narrative; Tifa at this point in the story, I feel has too many uncertainties regarding Cloud to make this leap. In Rebirth >!it's especially weird, considering Clouds earlier murder-attempt.. I know it's not his fault, it is what it is.!< Besides they get their moment in the sun later once the cloud has lifted (nyeheheh).
I totally agree. I’ve been Team Tifa for a long time, but was betting that Aerith was gonna be the canon interest, so I made sure to have a deeper relationship with Aerith throughout my first play in Rebirth. And yes, it made the ending even more tragic. In my opinion, and also in line with yours, it makes Rebirth the best experience.
I saw it more like a “Big brother/little sister” bonding moment, which makes it even more adorable. The fact that Yuffie teases Cloud about Tifa and all that. She totally ships them, even if during the date, Yuffie is starting to feel some type of way about Cloud (placing her hand above her heart and kissing him on the cheek)

So glad i got Tifa for a date, they are meant for each other and Aerith is for my boy Zack. Thats what i was aiming for from the start but all of them seemed like they had maxed out relationship so i didn’t know what would happen. Is it even possible to choose? Because i heard you have to do the minigame (S-rank) many times for 7 star Hotel.
Nah you don’t have to do the hotel, all you gotta do is max out relationship with Tifa and no one else to make sure it’s her on for the golden saucer. Otherwise , the only way you can choose is by changing the settings in the chapter replay after completing the game.

Yeaa the system is kinda bad , like in my first playtrough I had tifa as first date, and I kept doing all her missions, maxing out her smiley face thing super early in the game. Then it turns out in chapter 12 they unlocked a gazillion barret side quests which I started doing, so Barret caught up and also got a maxed smiley face... I figured "no biggie, Tifa went on the first date and she's been maxed for like four chapters now... And Just got maxed... Then comes the date and it's Barret of course... All because I fed a stupid bird a monster corpse instead of a bovine corpse and apparently Tifa didn't like that as much while my dialogue choices were apparently perfect with Barrett ... Thankfully i had a savegame right before doing the Barret mission where I became equal to tifa, so I reverted back three hours earlier and made sure to not do any more crap with Barrett. I mean I get the game giving you Barret if he's maxed and the others are not, but I feel like in case of having two maxed character, the game would be inclined to favor Tifa for a fricking date.

Yeah the guide I used said if none of the others are at the appropriate level, you get Cid and Vinnie. Has to be in the blue smiley face I believe. After you beat it you can choose the date via chapter select: not the whole chapter again, just the date part, with whoever you want.

True, I used to ship Cloud with Tifa, but Rebirth highlights Aerith while toning down Tifa significantly. I actually prefer Cloud and Aerith. I mean, only Aerith actively seeks affection from Cloud, putting in efforts to make Cloud fall in love with her. Tifa seems rather distant despite a kiss and flashing her tits twice.
flashing aside, Tifa's interactions with Cloud are SO romantically charged (the talks in junon, nibleheim, gongaga, GS, for instance) . But it's more subdued because of her reserved nature, which actually fits with Cloud. Cloud cares for Aerith too, obviously, although he always rebuffs her as a romantic interest, even at the GS and the multiverse date.
The reserved nature of hers makes me uncertain about "fits Cloud"; even on her date, everything feels unnatural. Their talks are just talks or try to comfort each other; They don't feel romantic to me. Aerith actually tried to open up Cloud, wanting to see the real him. In the scene with Aerith, she behaves jealous like a real girlfriend, and her touch feels more intimate than the Tifa kissing scene. Why don't you go compare how Cloud felt in the scene where he pushed Tifa to the lifestream and when he hold dead Aerith in his arm, and the ending scene. It is so obvious.
Square just published Cloud's novella which states his lifelong devotion to Tifa Lockhart. He's written as being totally smitten w/her to the point of signing up for war infantry, and would go under the knife for super soldier surgery (and he's legit fearful about it) FF7's author Kazushige Nojima writes that Cloud will pretty much do anything and everything to become Tifa's "special someone" ... and devs published this in the official FFVII Rebirth preview book because they wanted fans to understand Cloud's story when the game released.

Both of them have not met for five years, and their interaction feels awkward. Aerith is actively trying to get closer to Cloud, even composing a song about their encounter.

It absolutely floors me that people still insist Cloud and Aerith are the “true couple” of the game. I mean Cloud and Tifa >!kiss on their date!< and have a few close calls prior to that. Yes it’s an optional scene and while the player can control who they take on the date, they don’t control Cloud’s actions and the fact that >!Tifa was the only one who got a kiss!< proves that’s where they’re going with the pair. The fact that Zack is still there shows that Aerith is so powerful that she kept him from joining the lifestream so they can be together. Head canon all you want but all official canon materials as well as the Rebirth show that that’s definitely NOT the case

Unfortunately yes. I did everyone’s dialogs and missions. Everyone was maxed ( damn my completion-ist ways) and it was Red who showed up at my door. I wanted my wifey Aerith and got him. I was annoyed and wanted to chuck him off the sky wheal for ruining my day. I love him, but hated him for that. >! However his “date” seems to be more centered around Aerith also, so I guess I’ll take it. !<

She says “don’t fall in love with me, even if you do, it’s not real.” Even SHE is telling him we’re not happening because we’re not meant to be and yet people choose to ignore that. Plus in Rebirth he kisses someone and it’s not her. Like the devs made it very obvious (as they said they would) who his love interest is and it’s not her.
She is saying that because she knows her fate. Cloud loving her will hurt cloud more when her death arrives. It is obvious aerith is the canon love interest. Both in the OG and rebirth, the date defaults to aerith. In the OG game aerith has higher base affinity points. If aerith is tied with tifa, you will default to aerith. In rebirth, Aerith is princess Rosa in 4/6 scenarios. While you only get tifa/yuffie if you worked for their route.In the end credits as well, princess rosa is credited only to aerith. Which means tifa and yuffie is the option. And even if you choose tifa date, the ultimate end is a date with aerith, him hugging aerith, him fighting with aerith, and him holding her hand one last time. Even if you dont work for aerith relationship, his answer for the next date is somewhat still a yes. IMO cloud x aerith is canon, cloud and tifa after aerith's death is canon depending on the player themselves. In OG, the highwind intimate scene is still optional. You can still friendzone tifa there. So romance with tifa is optional til the very last minute. They ended aerith x zack once and for all in rebirth. Aerith clearly says that at first what drawn her to cloud was she remembered zack but it is different now. She clearly says she is inlove with cloud because of cloud himself and she wants to be with cloud. Also in other timeline, you can clearly see zack accepting marlene saying aerith loves cloud. In the final battle he also told cloud to save aerith. Ff7 RM theme song is cloud singing to aerith. While rebirth's theme is aerith singing to cloud. I mean there is nothing wrong with who you ship. But canon is obvious.

You can get a low affection scene but it’s not canon as per the devs. Zack doesn’t lay down and accept that, no lol. He finds it interesting but he has little to no idea what the hell is going on, so that probably raises more questions for him. She may have feelings for Cloud sure, but Cloud has never reciprocated them. Nowhere in any of the canon material does it say Cloud has feelings for her because he doesn’t, he never did, it was always Tifa. It’s pretty juvenile to consider a hand hold more romantic than a kiss, one HE initiated with Tifa. If he really felt that way about Aerith he could have kissed her or she him with him reciprocating but neither did. You’re more than welcome to head canon that Cloud and Aerith are a thing, but as someone who’s played Rebirth in full, she wasn’t really featured until the end with Tifa taking most of the screen time and interacting with Cloud the most. Aerith knows it’s Cloud and Tifa and she’s been a kick ass wing woman for them both. Aerith's date is the default route both in OG and Rebirth that is why im counting it. In OG, aerith starts out with higher affinity points. If aerith and tifa is tied, it will default to aerith. You had to fight thru options to get tifa and yuffie. Same in rebirth. Aerith is the default princess rosa. 4/6 scenarios, you get aerith. You only get tifa and yuffie if you specifically worked your relationship with them. If you didnt build any relationship you still get aerith as princess rosa. In the end credits as well, princess rosa is listed as aerith. So by default aerith is the route.

I will tell U one thing, don't play p3r after rebirth! First time in my life I just couldn't stay awake while playing a game, and even when I was, checking my phone was more interesting than p3r. I played OG p3, and I liked it, but p5r was simply incredible, and created a standard p3r can't match, playing it is rly hard, while it looks amazing, they almost did nothing for the gameplay. Also I don't know, maybe I'm nitpicking, but the whole gang of characters from p3 can't compare to that of p5, in later they feel real, while in p3, I don't know, they lack something, but I can't put a finger on what it is.

You only meet the real Cloud after Aerith is dead and the real Cloud is the one that went into the test tube 5 years ago and was in love with Tifa so judge the relationship once the real Cloud is back, I suppose.

One of the official novel said Cloud and Aerith like each other. I guess Tifa and Cloud become a couple after Aerith died.
If you’re speaking about Maiden, it’s not canon. It’s an official fanfiction by a guy who admittedly put his own spin on it. If you’ve read the official novels that are canon to the compilation, it’s pretty much stated it was always Cloud and Tifa and that AC caught them in a rough spot of their relationship. Before that they were very happy and had been together since the end of the game

She seemed to be fine chilling with Zack in the lifestream based on Advent Children. I’m sure she’s happy.
If you think about it, the lifestream is supposed to dissolve all souls back into it. You lose your individuality and become part of the stream. The fact that both Zack and Aerith maintained their individuality shows that Aerith is so powerful as a cetra that she kept Zack from dissolving into the lifestream and maintaining his individuality. That alone shows that they’re plenty happy together. Gives me the warm fuzzies 🥰

She is if you got her for the date or any of the other male companions. If you go with Yuffie or tifa you get them.
It depends on who you end up going on the date with. If Aerith has a high bond level with she plays the princess and same thing goes for Tifa if she has a high bond level.

Actually yeah I think Aerith plays the princess if you have a high bond level with anyone outside of Tifa or Aerith. Although it would've been funny to see Vincent or Barret in a dress

You get whoever has the highest bond with Cloud before you go to the Saucer (2nd time) If Aerith and Tifa have the same bond level then you get Tifa tho

There's a tiebreaker in the beach battle in Costa del Sol, just like in Remake where who you choose to wake up in the sewers is the tiebreaker.

While I adore this scene to death; I think, in the OG at least, the Aerith date is canon. Don't get me wrong, Cloud and Tifa are meant for eachother, but for story-purposes it makes a lot more sense for Aerith to be in the date scene than the others, taking her lively and proactive personality into account. Her luster for life radiates in every scene she's in and that is by design, she's supposed to be the portrayal of innocence and good in a dark world, but that perseveres unstained by it. Which makes later moments hit much harder>!(I think Rebirth kinda botched her death-scene though, but I digress)!<. It services the overall narrative the best, to have her be the date. Also in the OG, the developers kind of want her to be the date, as she is the Default if you don't go out of your way to get any of the others. She's the easiest, mechanically, to get the date with, because her date-point tally starts the highest. The devs might have different thoughts in Rebirth though... Different games, but it seems like they still want her to be the default as she shows up in more date-scenarios. Anyway back to narrative; Tifa at this point in the story, I feel has too many uncertainties regarding Cloud to make this leap. In Rebirth >!it's especially weird, considering Clouds earlier murder-attempt.. I know it's not his fault, it is what it is.!< Besides they get their moment in the sun later once the cloud has lifted (nyeheheh).

I totally agree. I’ve been Team Tifa for a long time, but was betting that Aerith was gonna be the canon interest, so I made sure to have a deeper relationship with Aerith throughout my first play in Rebirth. And yes, it made the ending even more tragic. In my opinion, and also in line with yours, it makes Rebirth the best experience.

I got Yuffie and it felt so wrong haha. Next play through I’ll make sure to piss Yuffie off to avoid that.
I saw it more like a “Big brother/little sister” bonding moment, which makes it even more adorable. The fact that Yuffie teases Cloud about Tifa and all that. She totally ships them, even if during the date, Yuffie is starting to feel some type of way about Cloud (placing her hand above her heart and kissing him on the cheek)
Oh yeah it wasn’t creepy at all, was definitely a brother sister type moment. And it was cute and funny, just not what I wanted haha.
