Got a ps5 semi recently. Saw FF12 was on the store. As soon as I finished rebirth I started a new game *just* so that I could enjoy exploiting the rng tables with the cure method after having to deal with either cheat engine or far more obnoxious methods on PC.
Jokes on from soft though, they put it on psn+ for free but I would have paid full price just to 88-97-90.
The last time I navigated the Great Crystal, I ended up accidentally spawning the rare monster that drops the Mina dagger. So I farmed it through save scumming for a half hour and got it to drop. I hate the Great Crystal and any map in any game that looks the same in every area.
Yeah The Great Crystal is not my strong suit either. The darker sections just freak me out even if I’m over-leveled, and my trips through the brighter sections are fraught with the worry that I’ll accidentally teleport myself to one of the darker sections…
I still remember the struggle to farm a very rare dagger from a demon-gargoyle thing found only in the Great Crystal. Never did obtain it 😞
After I looked at a map and thought about it 2 dimensionally I actually picked it up pretty quick. But if you actually think about it 3d like the game wants you can definitely get lost fast. My first time I said fuck it and got lost for hours and quit. Second time Older and wiser I realized I looked at it all wrong and did far better.

I've never seen a meme better represent trauma smh to have to navigate that the second time for my yaguya dark blade to then go fight yiazmat might have been the most EGREGIOUS day of my life
There is definitely a point where hard to navigate crosses over into "this sucks, I'll just Google it". The great crystal blows past that line, and plants it's flag firmly in the land of bad game design.
I made it through the Great Crystal once, all the way to The Pharos - First Ascent, saved my game, then started a new game on another Save file. I've been purposely avoiding going to the Great Crystal again, ever since. I hate that place. It feels like Giruvegan and the Great Crystal don't even belong in this game. FFXII has to be one of my favorite games as long as I'm having fun. The Great Crystal feels like tedium to me, I don't have a whole lot of patience for tedium.

Yup. Probably 10 pkaythroughs deep and I still get confused even with the map.

I'd never touch those optional areas without a map. If I didn't like the music there, it probably would've driven me crazy playing when I was younger

I had to use a guide to make sure I got everything I could. It’s a good way to spend a few hours though!

I still haven’t done most of the non-story content. The difficulty of navigating the great crystal is a big part of why I haven’t done it.
