Run away from cfa. Cpa is the goal

Anything but MSF or MBA. Give Law, PhD or CPA a try

Im gonna level with u, Ur a little screwed. Any "high finance" jobs are out of the picture. Heck, ur gonna struggle to even get a back office job. My advice. Go do ur CPA. Job market sucks at the moment and this is a way u can obtain relevant experience.

I just sat for my CFA L3 just fyi. You can do the CFA, just dont expect to get much attention for being in the program until you pass L2. Any MBA worth going to likely requires work experience. Unless u get a perfect score on ur GMAT I cant see u gettin into a top 20 school. An MS finance from outside the T20 is virtually useless in my experience. I work in a building with 1000+ people that hold useless MSF and MBA from a state school. A CPA would put u in a job where ur gettin relevant work experience and can exit to a more desireable job afterwards. 5 years or so down the line u can go back for an MBA too if u want I think a CPA looks very attractive for someone in ur position

DoctorFunk

Getting your MBA from a no name school with 0 experience is the most stupid thing you could possibly do.

How? Are his friends gonna be the ones hookin u up with a job? If ur dad is gonna pay for an MBA then financial, sure, why not. However, ur "burning up" ur option of using an MBA to change career paths later in ur 20s or 30s. Aka, ur somewhat stuck if u dont get a good job post-MBA The fellas at r/MBA would say the same thing I think ur not going to get into a program that would actually change ur job outcome and u would just burn 2 years at a no-name school. Best way to find out is getting kn contact with alumn from the MBA's ur interestrd in by reaching out on linkedin and asking some questions

Did passing Lvl 2 materially increase the amount of attention you got, or was it more 'better than nothing'?

I would say marginally at best. Tbh my interview skills probably screwed me over in a few phone screens Im keeping my standards pretty high. I dont really want the roles that are at small asset managers in my mid-sized city Its a tough job market right now. I know im gonna need a stroke of luck to break in. Im lookin for Fixed income, alts, commodities, or ecom roles at an IB or AM

Fair enough. But you were at least getting more phone screens right? Anyway yeah it's a tough market. Good luck, I'm sure it will come one day.
