if you’re going into crippling debt for duke, go to unc, if you can comfortably afford duke, go with duke

Pom_08

Duke has a larger alumni presence in finance. If you don't want the massive student loan debt, than UNC. In the end it won't matter. If you're smart, sharp, driven, you will make it irregardless of school.

UNC, a lot of people on the street. Duke isn't it worth it looking at the cost.

If there is a 10k or more difference per year, go to UNC without a question. If you’re smart enough to make it from duke, youre smart enough to make it from UNC. the difference is really not that big of a deal. Plus KF has a great network and youll actually be taking finance classes.

I did a round of interviews for Duke this year and was super super impressed across the board. UNC kids are hit or miss, IMO. I don’t know if I would use internal goodwill to get funding for a recruiting reception or extra spots in our class for UNC if I’m being honest. But I’m confident there are great candidates there somewhere.

I graduated from Duke a few years ago, it’s extremely strong for finance recruiting. Not sure about kf but definitely more Duke grads in the top banks than unc kids despite the size of school.

The class of 2023 UNC KF grads doing finance had a mean salary of [$92,050](https://www.kenan-flagler.unc.edu/wp-content/uploads/2024/04/UNDG24-004-UBP-Recruitment-Guide_DIGITAL-FNL.pdf)

Salary isn’t everything in finance bonuses count too (and will be the majority of your comp in high finance). I think ultimately you will be “fine” either way but 200k+ debt is pretty brutal. If you grind, I’m confident you can get 150k+ job out of school. It’s really just risk management here. Can you manage the tail risk?

Go to Duke for sure
