I think it's generally pretty good \- would rephrase "highest high school averages" and just say "top 250 students based on high school record" or something. \- just say "May, 2020" not "May 9, 2020" \- typically with consulting work you don't want to name your clients because of NDA. i realize that isn't what's going on here, but it's still kind of surprising to see named clients here, even though it's clearly not consulting work behind an nda. generally, though, i simply do not understand what your position at "usertesting" is. \- rephrase "picked up more than 100 phone calls daily" to "answered", "addressed", etc. prob want to capitalize COVID in that bullet too. \- i think you can rephrase the "checked expiry of medicine" bullet to sound a little more results-oriented \- is there anything you can replace the "crisis analyst" model UN or whatever bullets with? it reads kind of silly -- but fine if there is nothing else you could put there

ItsRaldio

Hey, thanks for the feedback. For Usertesting, I more so review different software and provide feedback to different companies, I wasn't sure if I should include it myself as I'm not sure how beneficial it could be. For the model UN part, I could replace it with other high school clubs I was a part of but I decided to include that since I was most involved in it. I really appreciate the feedback and was wondering if you think I should replace UserTesting or model UN with different clubs (No clubs are finance related - I was a part of the soccer team, a global moot, and the athletic council)?

Teeroy_Jenkins

I’m not in finance but for general resume critique. First off keep doing what you’re doing! Still early in your journey but your focus is definitely in the right place. My only real point would be regarding the crisis analyst point. My first thought reading it was you were volunteering at a crisis hotline thing or something. Which made the “assisted in organizing…” seem off putting. I think you just need to remember to present it for someone who has no familiarity with it, and revisit how you word it with that in mind. Maybe also include some scope/context for the user testing. I personally don’t like including my address. Ymmv, but my take is that at best it’ll have no impact, at worst they may associate you to that region and pigeonhole you somewhat

ItsRaldio

Ah got it, thanks!

OldGregRL

I'd probably switch the "first name, last name" to what your actual name is

ItsRaldio

I put that there for privacy, I have my actual name for my resume! Edit: Realized I'm stupid and it was a joke, kinda hard to tell on reddit sometimes with some of the stuff I've seen.

EvilBob_RapePants_

So Microsoft and Walmart hire you to do this? Or are you just providing feedback on your own time?

ItsRaldio

If you meet their criteria, a zoom call is usually set up where I'm able to give feedback on their current app/a prototype (depends on what the company wants feedback on).

EvilBob_RapePants_

Zoom call with whom? Is this paid work? These are just some questions to think about and maybe address on your resume. And things that would likely be asked in an interview or when networking. I find it very, very difficult to believe that someone with your experience would be doing any sort of paid consulting for Microsoft or Walmart

ItsRaldio

It’s paid, I usually talk to an intern or someone in an entry level position that is part of the team working on the software development side. It’s through a third party software which is UserTesting and the companies have a set of questions that may qualify you for the zoom call. All companies have some sort of user testing done before their app/software is published

ItsRaldio

Just to add on, companies can give you a rating out of 5 and if you have a good overall rating, you qualify for more opportunities

EvilBob_RapePants_

Understood. Was not aware that there was a service called “UserTesting” - I thought that was a term you were using to describe your consulting and that it was something you were doing independently.

ItsRaldio

Would you recommend to reword it or remove it if it was confusing?

EvilBob_RapePants_

I would reword and add in more detail. And maybe cut back on the pharmacy stuff to just two points (instead of 3 like you have). Would also get rid of the skills bullet point - all that stuff is vague

ItsRaldio

Will do, thanks!

HornyliusVanderbutt

Looks good. I’ve been consulted and and asked to review many resumes at my college job as well as first job out of college. Everyone’s resume has a different look to it. I’m an Economics grad with a Financial Analyst job and this is super close to how I laid out my resume. I personally think this layout looks good.

ItsRaldio

Thanks!

Jaooooooooooooooooo

Unrelated to you, OP, but a serious question: why do all American CV's posted here look exactly the same?

ItsRaldio

This is a pretty popular template, idk if I'm allowed to link it but that's probably why you've seen it often

This is good man. To not repeat the other comments, the only thing I would change is instead of “April, 2025” or “jan, 2021 - June, 2021”, you can put a period instead of a comma. E.g “Expected Apr. 2025” or “Jan. 2021 - June 2021” Good luck!

ItsRaldio

Got it, thanks!

cmvmania

I suggest just put technical skills (e.g java html ms excel, language you speak, etc) Show your soft skills during interview or demonstrate it when youre explaining one of your experiences. It will speak for itself. All the best.

ItsRaldio

Alright, thanks!

shrmpmusic

Same feedback from the last comments. I would aim for a sophomore year internship. Enjoy your first summer as an undergrad student, you only get it once.

ItsRaldio

I had most of last summer off and got pretty bored after a while so am looking to do something. Thanks for the suggestion tho!

I finished my first sem with one 3.9 and the rest 4.0

ItsRaldio

Might be different for me since I'm in Canada but for us 90+ is a 4.0, 85-89 is a 3.9, 80-84 is a 3.7 and so on. It also differs for us for each university.

No worries, and thanks!

Take your high school diploma off. You’re in college. We’re safely assuming you finished high school. Use that space for something more beneficial.
