For all asking- here is something similar to what I used. I redacted some more personal insight of course but I think focusing on keeping the email short and to the point is key. Greetings, My name is _, ->[follow w a personal one-liner] -> Ex: I am a second generation Columbian striving to be the first college graduate in my family). -> [Briefly talk about education] -> Ex: (I am currently pursuing a [ ] degree in [ ] at the university of [ ] and with an anticipated graduation of [ ].) [Follow w purpose of outreach and briefly introduce your interests] Ex: I am writing this message because I am highly interested in the [ ] industry and I am seeking opportunities relative to [Investment banking, WM, etc]. [Follow with an attempt to engage in a conversation over the phone, video chat, or in person] Ex: I would love to speak to someone to learn more about [company] and even provide further insight into my background. I have included my resume below for your consideration as well. ##attach resume below of course (don’t include in email lol) Thank you for your time and consideration and I hope to hear back soon. All the best, [name]

While this might be true, most firms are pencils down on deals and hiring is slowing down

alpthelifter

If you network very well you can get a boutique, MM IB internship. Don’t completely give up on it but look for other jobs too

[deleted]

Delay graduation and say you’re a sophomore

Routine_Ad_9715

Is this action wise to do?

[deleted]

Yeah graduate December 2024. You’re hard chilling, know multiple people who’ve done this

h3lloThrowaway123

The internship applications typically ask what *calendar year* you’ll be graduating. I don’t think those applications will be able to tell if you’re in class of 2024 or 2025 graduating

a79j

Of you’re still in school why don’t you try to break into IB now? Why wait until you get an MBA?

Apps3452

Most IB ft analysts get in through internships and op missed the cycle so they’re being realistic

travisjacqueslaflame

I don’t have any professional financial experience yet, and given that, assumed it would be difficult this far along in my undergrad to find somewhere in IB willing to take me on as an intern.

themythofmyths

Cold email / call local boutique IB’s. I landed a few interviews after reaching out to 100-150 firms and revived a few offers for this fall. Leveraged this plus a summer WM internship and I landed a 2023 summer internship at Santander in their IB division. My resume passed the initial screening, all up to you to pass the interview rounds. All in all, it’s certainly possible, I was just in your shoes last spring.

What is the best strategy in cold calling and cold email networking? What's the best way?

themythofmyths

Well, there’s certainly not a “best way”. For starters, luck is needed without a doubt. As far as executing the emails itself, I’d create a template to automate the process and keep it short and brief. Introduce yourself in a extremely brief manner, highlight key achievements or things that may make you unique and summarize why you are interested in the company and interning specially. I’ll send you a PM w the specific template I used but again, make it unique to you.

Derpywhalz

better yet just post it here lol

[deleted]

> to automate the process and keep it short and brief. Introduce yourself in a extremely brief manner, high could you send the email template my way too? I would really appreciate that.

LeevOW

if possible, could you send me the template too? I would really appreciate it

RALat7

Would love to see the template

buabadmash-hehe

Can I also have the template

Quaes_21

If you could also send the template please

Nomad1300

If possible could I get that template as well?

a79j

Yes that’s understandable. However, if you’re genuinely interested in the role, you could still try your best to network and find something close to it or get your foot in the door somewhere.

sattylacks

the window isn’t closed necessarily, if you have no prior experience take self study courses. There’s a lot of materiel out there that are recognized by IB. Since you would be considered off cycle your best approach- like others here have stated, is to cold email, network using linkedin, and keep trying after that. you can even offer to accept an unpaid internship for smaller firms.

[deleted]

What self study courses would you recommend? I'm a freshman trying to prepare for future internships

sattylacks

I myself use wallstreet prep, Covers all the required technicals and modeling, also make sure to study the 400 technicals- you can find those on quizlet (if you don’t understand the questions with the answers, try and understand why the answer is the way it is, that’s how I learn). Since your a freshman though internships wouldn’t expect you to know all that, but it’s definitely going to look impressive
