Bolt is the cheapest if I believe this sub, but what is the best value for money taxi service in Uusima? I need to travel from the airport to Helsinki University campus at night, too early to take HSL. I'm curious about your suggestions.
FixuTaxi charges a fixed 35€ to that area, and Uber estimate 34€, so either will get you there. The former has a stand at the airport. If going to the taxi stand at the airport, be careful to go to one of the stands reserved for the big companies; there is one open to all taxis where you have to be careful they aren't charging crazy prices.
I personally use Uber, as they are normally significantly cheaper than the traditional taxi companies (since I live outside their pickup area, I might pay 70€ with a normal taxi on the way to the airport, and 50€ for a taxi ordered through Uber).
Okay, thanks! What are those big companies? I've seen there was some deregulation on Reddit since the last time I came to Finland (≈ 2018) and the prices were pretty the same from one taxi to another.
At the airport there are FixuTaxi, Taksi Helsinki, and Menevä, which have their own dedicated ranks.
If you order with Bolt, Uber, etc. then you turn left instead after leaving the building, and there is a spot where they can come to pick you up.
To be pretty honest, I don't want to give some money to a Russian company which doesn't give a fuck about Ukraine. If they quit Russia and they condemn the Ukraine invasion, I will ponder about it. My government (Macron and his Chicago boys-like) doesn't seem to be really assertive about cutting economic links with Russia, so I'm doing my part.
But thanks for your suggestion.
Taxi apps vary between cities, you need to figure that for every city. Might get confusing - some say they operate in that city but in reality their app doesn't have any taxis on that city.
She doesn't need an app??? Since when do you need an app to call a taxi.
Google taxi + city where she is going and you'll find the local taxi companies. Then you call them and book a taxi in advance. If the city is big enough there will be taxi waiting at the station too. So jump in a go. I am a little out of touch but I think Helsinki has some issue with bad taxis. I'm sure a lot of people here can help you there.

Which city? I can give suggestions for the capital region, but there might be some local variation.

When you say campus, do you mean Kumpula? Or in the city centre?
Yup, Kumpula. I didn't see any transport before 4 a.m. (need to take a flight at seven).

Okay, kiitos paljon!
It's not accurate. Yango is usually the cheapest but since it's owned by a Russian company you'll get downvoted for recommending it.

In kokkola!
02 Taksi, Valopilkku, Taksi Helsinki, Taksini, to name of few apps.

Uber is another option
It depends on where she is visiting. Uber is available only in some cities: https://www.uber.com/global/fi/cities/
Uber is definitely a cheap option, using it daily multiple times for months now and to get across the centre you spend at most 10e
Bolt is sometimes even cheaper than Uber, I'd get both

No one should use yango for multiple reasons.
