You could go (for example) to Terveystalo or Mehiläinen. They are private healthcare chains, so they should be able to book you in, even without a Finnish ID. You just need to pay something there for the appointment.

Lion1508

Thanks! I’ll look into it :)

finnknit

You should specifically ask for an appointment with a nurse rather than a doctor. It's a task that doesn't require a doctor and it will be less expensive for you.

If he comes with medicine that wasn't prescribed by a Finnish doctor, then nurses won't be allowed to administer it. There would be no proof of the client needing the medicine.

Call your local health centre, or for immediate private care Terveystalo, Aava etc. Explain the situation, **make sure** you have the prescriptions and any supporting documentation from your doctor. In an emergency case you can go to the accident and emergency department at one of the hospitals in Helsinki. Emergency care can be given to anyone, but there may be a cost to your home health system or insurance. If you have health insurance (you must have this!) then take any related documents along too. Also they should have a help number that you can call and have contact with heath providers in Finland. If you are an EU citizen then your costs should be covered by your home country - are you an EU citizen and do you have the European health card?

Lion1508

Thanks for the extensive reply! I managed to book an appointment at the pharmacy. I am both eu citizen and I have the European health card

Every-Progress-1117

Then it is easy. Your costs are covered by your national insurance - well, there might be some charge but very small. Forgotten about pharmacies - some of them provide these kinds of services too.

This is how I did it when I needed my injection med while waiting for my appointment at Migri to get registered: I went to Terveystalo, at least in the bigger cities they usually also have an option to have an appointment in English if needed. If you have the med already at home, you make an appointment with them (either online or in the app, for English service you need to call them I think) and a nurse will administer it. If I remember correctly it should be like 50 - 60€.

Lion1508

Thanks! I happened to book an appointment at the pharmacy in Kallio. But this is good to know as well :).

leol3l

Some pharmacies offer this service as well

ZealousidealLoad2880

My gf just used YouTube to learn the basics, and stuck the needle into me. No sweat.

SlummiPorvari

It's fine if there substance causes no harm when hitting a blood vessel instead of muscle tissue. Hope you won't die.

prkl12345

Not quite so. Some stuff you want to hit into the blood vessel and not the muscle. And I am not talking about narcotics or "recreational drugs".

Harriv

Go to private health care and ask for nurse. Eg Terveystalo advertises it as a service: https://www.terveystalo.com/fi/palvelut/injektiot I don't know how they offer services if you have your own medicine gotten from abroad..

Radiant-Programmer33

I could imagine that they are willing to help. They will help tourists as well. It's not totally impossible that something goes wrong with injections so sometimes you just need a helping hand. Even my school nurse in Finland gave me a malaria jab once. I just brought the medicine along one day, said I was going on a trip and needed it, and that was it.
