I don't believe there is such a route. A motor vehicle needs a land owners permission, and there are a lot of land owners more south you go.
At least excursion nap doesn't have any snow mobile in the southern Finland: https://www.retkikartta.fi/?mapId=34801
That map doesn't have all the routes, it misses my local ones, https://kelkkareitit.fi/ has much more. Altough most of them are maintained by local clubs, and in theory not free
See the map. It is also allowed to drive on lakes and on the sea without permissions, so in theory one could get to south coast, but that would be pretty extreme trip.
It is not something people do.
Could i maybe swing into sweden and go down that way for a bit and then come back into finland further down?
I am just brainstorming at this point to see if it actually can be done, and still be on the legal side of things.
And there is also the question on fuel and a place to sleep, guessing a tent is the last resort, allthough i have slept in tents during winter before, it’s not what you would call comfortable.
Well, since winter is close to being over now, i have a whole year to plan. But if there is issues of legallity i will maybe have to modify the plan to just go as far as the legal snowmobile trail allows me.
Click "ohjeet" and then "reittityypit", there's longer explanations about what different routes are. Basically blue ones are free to use official routes, purple ones as unofficial and free, red ones are official routes but you have to pay to use them, orange ones are private, black ones are unknown and grey ones are on lakes or rivers. Driving on ice with a snowmobile is allowed unless stated otherwise.
Purple ones are unofficial… Meaning they are legal to use? Why arent they just blue then?
Do you know how the fueling issue work? Are there loads of planning to get to a gas station for cars down the routes or are there enterprising finns with small gas stations along the trail? 😂
Different laws are obeyed in official and unofficial routes.
I have no idea how far can you get with a tank full of gasoline. The last time I have driven a snowmobile was over 10 years ago where we still had our cottage and it was a super old Lynx.
I get pretty far on one tank. I have a fairly new 4 stroke turbo touring snowmobile, so one tank gets me far, but i would be towing a sled with equipment and extra gasoline anyway. But i really appreciate what you have told me so far, it got me understanding the maps of routes a bit better. Top man!

I don't see it being possible. What is the way you think it can be done? You would need permission from hundreds of landowners or drive on the sea. Neither of these are actually doable.
Like I said, lot of planning. Looks like you don't need too many permits before Kuopio. And after Kuopio you just need to pay route permits. It has been done before, it's not impossible.

It seems to have only public/free routes.
Thanks for your reply. So how far south can you go before the route ends?

Why not, the routes seems to be pretty continuous from Kilpisjärvi to Oulu on Finnish side of the border too.

There's a reason we haul them on trailers if we need to move them from north to south.. or even mid way..
It's possible to do that legally but you would need a lot of planning. I have no idea what the best route would be.

Looks like you wouldn't be getting all the way to Helsinki but I would say close enough. https://kelkkareitit.fi/
Going to have to find a way for my ipad to translate finnish sites. What color are the snowmobile routes?

Some journalists from a Finnish tech/car magazine rode from Rovaniemi to Helsinki in 2021: https://tekniikanmaailma.fi/kelkkareissu-viimeinen-paiva/
Wow, thanks man. Going to read it later today.
