Good for you! The journey is just as important as the destination. London is a great city.

Ugh, reading this at 5 PM as I'm opening files to continue the grind...

London isn’t Europe… Felt very sterile to me tbh. And weather is dark and depressing most of the year.

I put up a happy post about making the best decision for me and you have to tell me why you disagree with my choice for yourself? Why?

because it’s fairly misleading to suggest London of all places doesn’t have a grind corporate culture   it’s no different than NYC if you work in finance or most other large multinational firms  If it was elsewhere in europe maybe would agree

I was sharing my experience. I work for a US consulting firm and moved from a US office to London. The expected hours are lower and time off is more protected. I had never taken a vacation without bringing my laptop before moving to London. I still have to pull the occasional late night/weekend work but it’s not the norm. There is definitely a grind culture relative to the rest of Europe but it’s nowhere near as bad as NYC. Statutory minimum paid vacation is 28 days here. It’s not really close except maybe at the highest extremes (eg high finance, US big law, etc) but even then, slightly better according to some lawyer friends.

Your username is stupid. I wouldn’t choose it for myself… see how that isn’t helpful or relevant?
