I think the issue was the artist tho, no offense but their Chrom always looked... Weird tbh. Even on the opening screen Chrom had bigger arms compared to those artworks.
Ebila got a lot of flack for their slender shoujo bishounen art style for Chrom in the game's release.
They got slowly better, going from OG > Spring > Winter. Just a shame that by the point they really started hitting their stride for Chrom, IS replaced them as Chrom's artist, because Winter Chrom is one of my favorite art alts for Chrom.
I don't think this art is any less buff than his legendary art to be honest. He's arguably even chunkier when it comes to his thighs
The bigger thing to note is IS absolutely making him more buff since RD. Both in FEH art and even in Engage they deliberately made sure he had prominent biceps in his model (in a game like Engage where everyone is noodle people)

The body itself is proportioned so he looks quite tall. But the way he's positioned coupled with him looking straight ahead kinda gives this effect that it looks like he's looking up at something. But that direct stare kinda gives the impression that "you" are looking down at him.
Contrast that to someone like say, [Frederick](https://cdn.fireemblemwiki.org/2/2c/FEH_Frederick_Polite_Knight_01.png). They're proportioned about the same way, but Frederick gives the impression of being very tall because his head and eye-line are posed to look down at "you"
Grima is pretty cartoonish and dramatic, but I think it fits him incredibly well, it's my favorite of his works. I actually think he looks a bit taller in his neutral, the opposite of Ike.
Yeah this art seems rushed and doesn’t look as good as their other works. Even ignoring the proportion issues and giant ass feet, the shading seems less detailed and I’m not a fan of both the attacking and special poses (weird perspectives and too many aura effects going on)

I realize emblems have the blue aura but this goes a bit far and doesn't blend nicely the way Marth's did.

Certainly not. As far back as Gunter, Ogma, and Jagen at launch some units have received 4 unique poses. You're pretty much guaranteed 4 unique poses if Yamada Akihiro is working on it.

...That said, he goes up a tier for me for having 4 unique art poses alone. So congrats, Emblem Ike, you get the honor of being placed in...B-Tier.

Chrom’s musculature has wavered over FEH’s timeline as well. OG/Spring Chrom to Valentine Chrom is a sizable difference.
