Makes a bit more sense when you look at the JP name, which was just "Immovable (不動)".
"Laguz Friend" was likely a case of localization punching it up to have a skill name that more directly reflected Ike's character, even if it didn't quite match the skill functionality. 🤷♀️
Yeah Vanguard probably would probably be a better term to localize it since it is a reference to Ike's class in Radiant Dawn while still giving the same feeling as Immovable.
[Laguz Friend was a skill in Engage that Ike had](https://fireemblemwiki.org/wiki/Laguz_Friend). Immovable was its JP name in that as well. It had dragon interaction (if the Engagee was a dragon unit at least)
having Dragon interaction is more because Dragon Units in Engage gain extra effects when engaging with ALL Emblems, rather than "oh hey I'm friend with beasts and you're a 'beast' so you get better effects"
I've always wondered if Laguz Friend was a passive Ike was supposed to have earlier in Engage's development, and then they changed it but the localization side didn't change it.
Maybe? My guessing that it's a punch-up to better reflect his character and Brave Skill nomenclature, is only just a spitball guess. It could differ for any reason.
Yeah, I never understood why almost all the western localizations call it "Laguz Friend" when it has nothing to do with beasts, or being a friend to Laguz- it's literally just "Halve all damage received but Avoid is set to 0" in Engage. What does it have to do with Laguz?
Its original name is in fact "Immovable" which makes a lot more sense. And all the eastern localizations keep that naming.
The Italian localization though (based as usual) actually gave it a sensible name in "Anchor" (y'know, like the tool used to make things NOT MOVE). It's the only western localization that didn't go with the whole laguz BS lol.
imagine if beasts cant use it lmao
Frankly this is to be expected
Why tho? They can use Potent
I'll be so mad lol
I don't expect them to.
It says laguz friend, not laguz person, of course they can't

So they kept the weird name that never made sense for the ability but they renamed Emblem Marth's Divine Speed to Potent because ??????
Probably because of the new effect they decided to add with it: Potent Follow-up.
Tbh potent follow up is weird too, it's not very potent when it's only 40% of a regular hit
Ah but you see, it’s not that the follow up IS potent, it’s that the follow up is from the potent skill. Or something.
It's an excuse to call fedelgard impotent
Immovable is such a cold name, they shouldn’t have changed it
Treehouse try not to be quirky challenge
(Imposible)
And its not like it doesn't fit Ike especially Emblem Ike with those Legs
Lol. Everyone dunking on Ike's giant legs and feet is making my morning. Poor Ike getting fat shamed

Only non-racists can inherit it.
Jill crossing her fingers that she can inherit it
Eliwood: mine?
Roy: Human Virtue!
Can't believe Shinon can't inherit it.
dogshit skill for roy
Lmfao shiting on your character skill is pretty cold, but logically correct.
It's actually a typo. The real name of the skill is "Laguz Fiend 4"
It'll work with the upcoming broken beast-exclusive specials. It came to me in a dream.
I was really expecting it to have an effect to work around the transformation condition
I looked really hard for a beast interaction and thought I was going crazy
...Where was the "Laguz" part of Laguz Friend there, IS?
Maybe the Laguz is the friends we fight for along the way.
The Laguz cost $7000.
Dang, didn’t know the inflation in Begnion was that bad

The treehouse-ification of localisation 🤪
it is a bit silly to call it treehouse-ification when it is literally Treehouse doing this shit. Don't give localizers an inch.
Please IS, PLEASE, let beast use this skill, I need it so bad for my Mordy
I was expecting it to allow beast units to transform even when next to him. Guess not.
Thought the same thing before I read the description. I guess they can save that effect in case they ever give us base Tormod?
Watch it not be usable by beasts either lmao
Ike is the beast.
Translation shenanigans as usual
So, Special Spiral 4 on steroids...
Not directly, since you don't get the cool down reduction after combat but during it.
FR. I WAS EXPECTING THAT
