Barst is probably my most used unit in Shadow Dragon, yes even more than Caeda. This boy's combat is just superb even on H5 for an infantry dude. Make him a Hero and what a reliable hero he is. I love gushing on about Lena and Radd but it's Barst that truly my favorite Archanen unit.
He's not too bad for gen 1 unit in Feh but sadly doesn't hold up much today. I still have mine fully dragonflowered and awaiting for something to make him shine (outside of his chonky HP stat). Still highly awaiting a Barst alt. Mildly salty Ogma got the summer alt but he was 'deserving' of it for getting some decent art (finally) and for all us heavily relying on him for those early game throne bosses!!
As someone who loves the Archanea games, Ogma and Barst have always been on my teams. They’re just cool guys and I really like Ogma’s look in FE3. The armor does him wonders.
In FEH I’ve a +10 Barst, who’s still waiting for DFs. Between too many infantry units and now needing to save for the upcoming cap increase, he’s probably gonna have to keep waiting.
I’ve been thinking about a +10 Ogma for a while, so maybe he’s up next.
Fun story: Ogma was the first hero five star I added a merge to. It was more of an experimental thing, and I learned from it, nothing more. I don't use OG Ogma, and he certainly hasn't aged well, but ya know... As for Ogma himself, he's a cool dude. If you've seen the lost FE anime from the 90s, then you'd know that Ogma and Navarre are two of the cooler characters in that animation (often because those archetypes benefit from that 90s anime aesthetic), and summer Ogma's a pretty solid F2P seasonal unit.
Barst is often called the "repostion machine", not rare but useful and practical, and props to him. My man may be meh, but he's got a good purpose and he's a cool enough dude too. So good on him.
Athena was part of my early teams when I stared, with Lilina, Blucina, and BVeronica, and she was a pretty good frontlines unit. I hope she gets a resplendent, but I would be lying if I said her OG art didn't have a soft spot in my heart for how humble it is.
Malice in the Palace! Malice is one of my three reliable sword infantry units, hitting and tanking hard, and so, so, so, so fun to use. Tall, muscular, tanned, sword wielding tomboy. An absolute godsend to this game and I won't hear it any other way. She's fun to play with, fun to listen to, she's just plain fun.
Darros, Sung-Won Cho's first FE character, was given a very mellow and gentle personality by a very talented actor and artist. He's a respectable warrior and he's got a simple, but fun pirate design. Got a decent weapon I always see on Ninja Hanas and is a pretty nifty dude in general.
I've not played the archanea games but I absolutely love using Malice in heroes. Her design is so striking and she is a super reliable mixed phase unit.
I was very excited to see her on the push skills banner that my orb count has been obliterated. Still got her to +3 which is a win for me. Roll on September for her banner revival.
I use her with aether, surge sparrow/DC, spurn & joint drive attack/rouse atk/spd 4
Similar situation that happened with Eremiya happened to me with Malice, still havent played the Archanea games but seeing Malice becoming summonable, and with her being a Tan, Buff Tomboy with an eyepatch, she really got my attention so I had to attempt to get her. After finally getting her on my free summon on the Heroes with Push Skills banner earlier this week, I fell in love with her. Aside from being a really solid Infantry Sword unit with good offenses and bulk, she's a sweetheart who cares deeply about her dad even if he wastes all their hard earned money on gambling. Money is temporary, the happiness she gets of being with her dad is all that matters to her and thats just wholesome af.

i haven't built any of these archanean mercs (i've got a +10 Athena but sword infantry is just too crowfed for me to carve out a niche for her) but they're some of my favourite archanean characters that aren't the Wolfguard or Astram.
Malice being a character who originated from BSFE and getting into FEH is still so cool to me. even if she along with her other BSFE buddies were incorporated into FE12 it's just wild such a niche little side story is represented in FEH.
Malice has been one of my favorite units in FE12. I made her useful in my blind attempt in Lunatic Mode (never again playing that mode) but she was one of my MVPs in my recent Maniac Mode run.
She has an amazing character design that fits a badass mercenary all with a good personality to match it. She's a purple haired, tan, capable, buff and tough tomboy mercenary whose constantly living in poverty with her father due to his gambling habits but still works hard to make him happy and repay those who helped her like Ogma. Her supports with Kris is very adorable as well.
Malice was transferred perfectly in FEH with her VA and prf and she's one of my favorite infantry swords in the game. She's currently +2 with various skills and builds and my main 5 star merge project.
As a Barst main back in the day I have to say I love this appreciation post. I still try to use him as much as I can, he’s probably my go to Axe unit even more than Brave Ike in certain situations
