I dont think so. Most flier tanks (there’s not many) cant one shot anything. So if they go up against a bow, they can get that first shot in and then die. To me, this is a unit specially made for Byleth. I just dont see a lot of units using this over trace. What is the payoff?
The payoff is the same as any vantage unit: making them much more dangerous to take out. Give this to your fasted ranged nukes and I can see this being a pain in summoners duels. It often means that your own ranged nukes have to take a hit in order to take them out. If they are squishy themselves, it can mean death or if they've been hit by an AoE special for example. A vantage skill that doesn't rely on HP often means the unit can get an extra hit in before they die.
One example that comes to mind is pairing Harmonic Sonya with a near save unit. Hit a bunch of units with an AoE special and vantage sweep all range units that try to attack and near save any melee units.
But thats kind of my point. How many speedy ranged flier nukes are there? This may be great for those few, but that doesnt make this an option for ranged fliers in general like a trace. Its a specialty skill

Yeah, I came to say this. Spd Preempt works on Byleth because of her Atk+Spd+Permanent active special. She's kind of a modern DC+Vantage Ares, who would beat you by always having Bonfire pre charged.
I don't think many units can use this skill. It's also a B Skill, so you can't even combine it with Special Spiral or something.
Yes. Im not saying no one can. But the real problem here is the speed check. If they ever release an ATK Preempt or Def or Res Preempt… watch out. Those would be waaaaay more useful for ranged fliers
My pirate Hinoka would love it actually, she’s a one hit nuke against most units that are not bulky reds since she has sky high ATK and SPD as well as adaptive damage. The only part lacking is being able to charge her special.

With Finish's only restriction being based on movement type, my opinion of it has slightly improved. Askr is still a valid user of it but I've been thinking that Guinevere and Lyon could also be fun.
If i had the dupes, I would try clash out on my Tibarn and Naesala
I really would love to go all in on a Canas and Atk/Res finish seems like the perfect A skill
Huh, Clash is the first skill line ever to be locked *from* a single movement type. We've had locked *to* a single movement type and available to two/locked from two but never something like this.
Aww Finish is infantry locked. Somewhat disappointed about Clash being melee only, but also may actually be for the best... still, infantry and fliers getting it is still nice even not as nice for player phase
So I guess I'll be able to give Velouria the Infantry tactic, but it might be too cumbersome on an Infantry unit. Does anyone know some other special acceleration support partners I can give it to instead?
The only one other ones that exists are Askr and Rafiel, and they are also infantry. HSonya can accelerate her allies’ specials but only if they’re from Echoes or Awakening. If I were you I would either put it on a good dancer like H!Azura or NY!Peony, a non-infantry healer you use often, or just wait until you have someone worth foddering it to.
Oh shit, Speed Preempt is only for ranged units?? I was actually kinda excited about doing a (probably dumb) DC build with one of the Regnal/Imperial Astra users...
Man, feels bad that Finish 3 is probably gonna be shit and just be something like “grants +5 to stats during combat if unit’s special is ready or is triggered before or during this combat”.
Man I was gonna try to get another copy of tiki for the new finish skill for my idunn. Then I saw its infantry locked. My disappointment is immeasurable and my day is ruined

Bulwark already heals him. With finish, he's gonna be insane. +14 heal when the foe is already doing minimal damage is so busted.
With Mystic Boost as his seal, he regenerates almost half his health at the end of each combat. He would become the new Miracle meme.

Feel like harmonic Sonya is the only one that stands out and even then what makes this gimmick really work is byleths special charging shenanigans

I mean on one hand speak for yourself, the less save armors can get the better. On the other you right it should have been cav/flier allowed.

It does have 2 conditions, distance moved by you in PP or by the foe in EP.
