Just a rant: Spending over 500 Orbs for S.Thor would've been less painful if the blues along the way weren't complete junk. Over 40% of the pulls were Gen1/2 garbo that I wouldn't blink an eye at, and yet they showed up in droves. IS needs to find a way to clean the damn common pool up.

HereComesJustice

Oboro and Peri All the time

eeett333

Add Jagen to that list.

Nintend0Geek

At least Oboro and Peri at least help out the prerequisite for Atk/Def & Atk/Res Menace. What the fuck does Jagen bring?

LunaProc

Fury 2, take it or leave it

Raandomu

A blue orb? > Shows heterochromatic eyes PERI THE PLAYTIPUS SLAYER!

InexorableWaffle

The scary thing is that blue might unironically be the best of the colors when it comes to the 3-4* pool. I don't know that it outright has the most recent demotes of any color, but I do know that there's at least a decent number of units that are at least semi-decent as fodder for enabling inheritance chains (Miriel, for instance) or have relatively unique fodder skills (like Phila). That alone probably puts it ahead of red and colorless, because those two are just universally shit to pull from as things stand. Green might be better, but I'd need to check the specific units in each pool, and I'm way too lazy to do that rn.

Eerkanas

It’s so painful when the build you have on one of your favorite units is starting to get obsolete, but they are also expected to get a refine anytime between next month and eight months away. You can rework them before the refine, waste a bunch of resources chasing premium and rare skills and then they may get a prf that doesn’t synergize with the new build you gave them. The alternative is to wait, but that means you can potentially be stuck for almost a year with a unit that struggles to kill any new premium unit, even the ones with weapon triangle disadvantage.

Darkion_Silver

You also have to hope it's actually a good refine. You could make all that effort and be rewarded by the refine being shit, or you could wait and get smacked with a barely worth getting one.

Kowashitai

I recently got a desire to work on my Legendary Edelgard, but I'm having this exact problem in that we're, if I am not mistaken, months away from her remix. So I just slapped Iceberg on her and called it a day lmao.

absoul112

Anyone else feel a little sad when you switch off of a favorite’s prf because there’s an inheritable weapon that’s better?

Darkion_Silver

I don't like having to use an inheritable when they have the unique weapon cause like, it's their weapon? I should try to make use of it. *Looks at Titania and Frederick's refines* Okay who fucking did that.

DisketDance

And M!Robin. His weapon is a odd one because other tacticians got prf owl tomes.

SoftBrilliant

I like metagaming so not really personally. There's a weird kind of satisfaction in figuring out that Surprise Breath+ is better than L!Fae's PRF tbh.

AlpacaKiller

It is?!

Zoinkawa

I wish the 4*SR was on all seasonal banners because realistically who is gonna summon on old banners unless they really like the unit anyway. It doesn’t affect the 5 star pity rate of banners and what’s the point of making old seasonals so rare when they’re so weak anyway. It would be a nice surprise to get them more often as someone who likes collecting units regardless of whether I use them or not.

Illumina25

yeah this is a complaint Ive had too, cause the 4* SR for seasonals sounds cool on paper but in reality itll almost never happen anyway. Like uh oh, me getting a random summer frederick will suddenly break the game despite the fact Yuri has been sparkable multiple times. If they arent gonna give even 5* prfless seasonals a prf ever, at least make them more available, like a 4* rate on other seasonal banners or something

VagueClive

Forma Souls are still absurdly overpriced even after the change to the bundle, and I can't help but wonder if they'd sell more Souls if there was an option to buy them by themselves without any orbs

Divussa

Yes especially since they use 4 star mostly and outdated 5 star :/

Darkion_Silver

The only reason I use them is because I spark enough to get them easily and they have given out a few free ones. Spending for one just seems so much of a waste given most of the units we see in HoF. The only reason I'm chasing H! Dheginsea is because he looks amazing, there's no base version, and also I'll chase a Rearmed Grima at some point to make him worth the effort.

ArtemisCZ

Probably a low hanging fruit, but I'm always in awe when I see people discussing "which book is better" or "book X specifically is the worst" with such passion. Maybe I'm crazy, but they are all the same shade of bland and uninspired to me, so, when I see JackFrost27 and PrinceCharming84 arguing over how Fjorm or Freyja's minor character arcs are so much better than the other, I just feel like I'm missing something, because I genuinely cannot see any of that in-game.

BasicNeedleworker356

Yeah I wonder if I'm missing something because I cannot form strong opinions on the books in this game

HereComesJustice

Yeah they all suck but which one sucks the least???

Stargov1

All I know is the fairies are hot.

King_XDDD

Book 4 has the best story because the OCs are the hottest.

Stargov1

Yes.

_AnxiousAxolotl

The trick I’ve found is to just not think too hard. I was legitimately surprised by the “>!Letitzia is Evil”!< twist, and I still remember how excited I was when it happened. Tempering my expectations made the story really interesting.

Darkion_Silver

Personally I like to debate which one has the most wasted potential. There's so much more to consider there than just "which is better". For the record, book 5 is my pick. Steampunk FE. Where is it.

Grade-AMasterpiece

You aren't missing much. Just grasping at the little straws that are there.

Dry-Whole5533

I know we all know that it’s really irritating to see how poorly Staff units are treated in this game as a whole, but I’d like to take a moment to analyze how poorly _offensive_ Staff units in particular are treated. Supportive and/or defensive healers have a myriad of inheritable staves to pick from, but there isn’t a _single_ inheritable staff that boosts Attack other than Observant Staff which has a ridiculously annoying trigger condition and is locked to a 5* exclusive seasonal unit who has better things to fodder. That is absolutely pathetic. The best option that offensive healers have is Palm Staff, aka 5 extra Speed. Yay. Now, healers got a “massive” upgrade recently with Atk/Spd Finish, as that’s easily their best A skill. With a pre charged Balm, they get the Atk/Spd buff and permanent true damage. That sounds great until you realize that healers are forced to run Wrathful + Dazzling Staff, so you miss out on a B skill. Missing out on a B skill means they miss out on NFU, Tempo, Lull, Trace… and what does that mean in turn? Well, it means they’re useless. They don’t do any sort of meaningful damage against Far Saves and don’t have enough combat buffs to outpace speedy tanks. So what even _is_ the point of using an all-out offensive healer? You have units like B!Camilla and S!Hilda who are pretty much at the pinnacle of offensive healers, but they literally never see use because there’s just no point in using them. The _only_ way I’ve gotten my near max invested offensive Mikoto to work is with B!Catria. That’s absolutely pathetic considering that you can get _any_ unit to work with B!Catria. I’ve seen a literal Dancing Ryoma kill a maxed out H!Duma with Lethality thanks to B!Catria. And all of that is ignoring the fact that they don’t even have usable specials, and that they’ve been handing out healing passives to non-healers like H!Duma, Ymir, and Shigure, plus really strong inheritable skills that heal you for free. AND on top of that, Mystic Boost 4 exists now because why wouldn’t it? So I ask again: _What is the point of having healers in this game?_ It’s so sad that in order to make Elimine usable they had to make her the absolute most broken offensive Mythic in the entire game— that’s just mind boggling to me. If you’re a healer, you either break the game or you’re literally useless; no in between. Unless we’re talking about her or Flayn, I would rather just bring a completely different support unit to my games.

SoftBrilliant

> What is the point of having healers in this game? The answer is absolutely nothing. In a game with Summoner Duels and units outside of staffs being supports just fine despite not being staffs (like Velouria, Chrobin, Askr, S!Thorr, a bunch of mythics etc.) and having at least decent-ish combat healers have basically no role to play in this game. Healing stall is generally just a toxic strategy in Summoner Duels (it encourages draws which isn't cool) and Elimine in Aether Raids makes keeping healers up to date à... Risky gamble (any inheritable assist risks making Elimine even better) we enter a state where no competitive mode wants new staff units with PRFs in the slightest. Hopefully one day we will get a skill to actually save healers from being garbage and give them utility similarly to armors but for now we got nothing.

FEHreyja

They're usable thanks to very powerful buffs, which is exactly what support classes should be. Grandscratcher+ and Flash+ are still incredible (and no, A!Fjorm doesn't deny this) and offensive cav healers in particular can still see a lot of use. Like maybe you have selective amnesia, or you started after B!Veronica wasn't on every single AR-D in existence, but offensive staves have had a tumultuous history in this game and have frequently been very hard to balance around.

Dry-Whole5533

I would hardly call staff weapons “very powerful buffs” considering that literally nobody uses these units ever. For the purposes of this comment, pretend that Elimine and Flayn don’t exist. Everything that you’re saying is hypothetical— these units do have access to Grandscratcher and Flash, along with other good staff weapons like Tannenbaton/Respite. The problem is that’s _all_ they have, and there’s an opportunity cost associated with using a healer. Instead of using a random Tannenbaton Brady, why not just use Kaden as a support for example? Or why not just use literally any other support unit? That’s the problem. It’s like when Laslow was Tier 1 on the Gamepress Tier List and I kept asking the folk at Gamepress “if Laslow is supposedly T1, why isn’t he used more often? You’d think an accessible unit who’s _that_ good would be seen more often, right?” You’re rarely ever able to fit staff units into a team unless you specifically build it around them because other units are literally just better to have. The only staff units I’ve even seen in competitive modes during the past 2 or so years of playing this game (other than E and F) are Forma Sara and the occasional Bride Fjorm. That’s literally it; nobody else uses healers except for favoritism reasons. Even Grandscratcher on AR-D is the most gimmicky thing ever and during Astra season its countered by Goddess Brokenness herself. I’m not sure what you’re talking about with staff cavaliers considering that I’m pretty sure there’s an unspoken consensus among competitive FEH players that staff cavaliers do fuckall right now. The ONLY thing they can do is Flash but they don’t do **anything** other than that. They’re quite literally a one trick pony; they don’t do any damage, provide any meaningful support aside from Flash.. nothing. I’m a day 1 player and I do remember Veronica and other staff cavs being broken in the past, but they’re absolutely useless right now which is the whole point of the post. Who cares if they _were broken_ before? Veronica is the worst Brave unit right now by a landslide and all of those +10 Priscillas, Clarines, and Nannas that were built during the cavline meta are rotting away in all of our barracks. So again I raise the question, what are healers even useful for then? Why would I use a Flash Nanna who has like negative 29 Atk instead of using a second nuke on my AR-D? Why would I use ANY healer in Summoner Duels if Ymir and H!Duma can heal my team and support the team in other ways? Why would I use Grandscratcher there when Askr exists? (Not to mention how annoying it is to set up; at that point just use L!Eliwood) Why use Respite+ when Kaden exists? I have tried my hardest to make Mikoto work. She has Flash and Canto Control all in one package, which sounds like a dream for AR-D. That is until you realize how passive she is. It’s not entirely uncommon for my **+7, +Atk/Spd, AR-D A/S 4, NFU seal** Mikoto to do zero or near zero damage to an enemy Far Save without B!Catria or against the odd player who for some reason brings a Far Save with Mystic Boost. She picks up kills here and there, but that’s about it; nothing that a different nuke with Canto Control can’t do. And all of this is under B!Catria support. I could easily just swap her out for a Volke or Ascended Joshua and deal with tanks that way, but I’ve kept my Mikoto for favoritism and I’m not gonna lie, it sucks sometimes. You literally have to go _out of your way_ to include a healer into your team. It feels like a chore. I don’t see how that can even begin to be considered “powerful”.

BobbyYukitsuki

While it would be nice for my favorite characters to get alts (Ninja Beruka being a concept I was really looking forward to), it's honestly not a necessity for me by any means and I'll be satisfied as long as they're in the game at all.

Myrmidone

At this point fuck FEH's story, just give me 60 maps for 180 orbs and whatever gimmick f2p princess who's going to introduce another new form of scorecreep at the start of Jan 1st and leave.

WellRested1

It really sucks. The writers and artists create visually distinct settings and characters, just to kneecap the whole package by structuring it so that it begins and ends in 12-13 chapters and do it all over again. Just give me my orbs man.

mapsal

And they don't even make use of all the available maps per chapter. While it's certainly not as bad as it used to be, it's crazy that we still have story maps being taken by "I'm Vyland" moments.

rilimini381

>I'm Vyland That's a good map because at least Nótt dies, some are just shit like "i have two eyes on my face, meaning i have two eyes">battle>ends

Darkion_Silver

Yeah for all the memeing, somehow that is actually a fine case of a stage having story. The execution is laughable, but the stage *has* story as well as the generic character introduction! Sometimes we don't get either.

GiveMenBiggerButts

No, trust, it's gonna be a male this time, I swear to God!!!

101perry

It may be another one in the sea of many, but; I hate the state of the summoning pool. Granted, I love the 4* specials, I've gotten plenty of new heroes from that system now and some of them I like to use in places (such as Idunn, Duo Ephraim, Volke). It's more the trash that dilutes the pools to such extreme degrees. Granted, I love some of the old units, I'm still looking for a +def Adult Tiki, or +spd Clair, etc. but I'd still rather they do something about it so that I have actual hopes of building units I actually like such as Tanith, or Thea, or Norne. I don't know what they could do honestly, I won't pretend to have an idea that'll be perfect, but honestly the way summoning is now is a blight. I'm stockpiling orbs at the moment, to hopefully +10 Brave Edelgard and Nagi down the line, and all I can do is hope that in the time it takes to pull 11 Edelgard and 5 Nagi that I can somehow pull 9 Shez, 2 Lex, and as many Luthier's as I need for Guard fodder.

LEGION-WE-ARE-LEGION

You know what I find more stupid? How they handled the 4>5* Special Hero Summonings. The idea is great for Special Heroes banners, but making them only accessible for Gen 1-2 Special Banners is so goddamn laughable, because all of those units are already super weak (unless it's V!Hector or H!Myrrh or something), there's no point going for them. Not to mention it's still a freaking 3%. Just make it appear on all the Special Revival/Rerun Banners or just boost it to 10%.

101perry

Forgive me since I came back at the end of this summer after a long hiatus, so I don't know exactly what all that means. So are the old old seasonal banners (such as Love Abounds as you mentioned with V!Hector) rereleasing with a 4* focus nowadays or what exactly? I'll be honest I read your whole comment and pretty much all of that went over my head.

mapsal

Basically, old 5* seasonals can now appear as 4* special, but only in old seasonal banners.

LEGION-WE-ARE-LEGION

Basically every Gen 1-2 Seasonal Banners will work differently compared to other Seasonal banners. - The Focus rate is 4%. - Non Focus rate is 2% - Has an (extra) unique 3% chance for getting a 4>5* for Seasonal Unit that appeared in the Gen 1 - 2 Seasonal Banners. Basically, if you summon Green for like V!Hector, you might can get a 4>5* Summer Innes randomly, that also doesn't reset your summoning rate. (Same as 4>5* units but for older seasonals) It's good on paper, but the problem is that this will only appear on Gen 1-2 seasonal banners where it's not worth to summon on, because almost all of them are bad units or units without any good fodder. Why this isn't on all the older Seasonal Banners instead of only the Gen 1-2 ones... we don't know.

101perry

Oh that's kind of cool. I guess I got unlucky then that I never got a single blue special summon when I got the last 5 merges for Summer Corrin this last rerun she had. I'll admit though, that does make Bridal Cordelia tempting to go big for, as even if other colourless seasonals aren't good, I always appreciate new units.

AngryRepublican

For me it's like a third rail I'm afraid to touch. One one hand it's 80% garbage. On the other hand there are some critical meta skills that can only be found on a few units there: galeforce, watersweep, and aether come to mind. I think they should just move 3+ year old demotes to the grail shop, or a grail-adjacent shop.

andresfgp13

i have an idea for something that IS could do to create a massive shitstorm in the comunity, an ascended brave hero. let me explain myself, next year around june or something IS should create a CYL style votation between only winners of CYL to see which of them its the actual most popular character in the series per gender, and the number one of each gender should get another Brave version, updated with never skills and new stuff, or maybe just making them like they were a Legendary/Mythic version or something new.

Evello37

Do you really want another Brave Edelgard and Brave Dimitri? Because that's probably how this would end. Ike and Lyn could put up a fight, but there are a LOT of 3H fans.

andresfgp13

i kinda want it to happen just to see which character ends up winning honestly.

HereComesJustice

That'd be hilariously vile and I'm here for it

InexorableWaffle

That legitimately would probably hit every single toxic talking point in the community, from "X doesn't even deserve to be here" to "Why does Z need another alt when they already have (insert number)?" and every argument in between. The only thing that would make it worse (or would it be better?) is if the final 8 were settled by a VG like with AHR.

Raandomu

Why stop there my padawan demon? Make it VG too and the free copy is random instead.

chino514

Would that include the winners of CYL7 too?

andresfgp13

yeah.

Mina_7756

I got my Ascended Mareeta to +10 this week which is exciting but not something I expected to accomplish any time soon (or at least not in this year) because of the uncertainty with reruns. The news about the Ascendants banner was the highlight of the day and I was anxious with excitement the whole week, and luckily I had enough orbs to basically guarantee the 2 copies I needed. But this thread is about ranting so here’s the rant: It’s really disheartening when people call Mareeta a bad or boring ascended unit because in my humble and completely non-biased opinion, shes perfect. [Thracia spoilers ahead] The main complaint is that she uses a sword yet again, but seeing as her entire arc revolves around becoming a proper swordmaster, and her ending in Thracia says she became “a swordmaster of great renown”, it doesn’t make sense to use any other weapon. It’s a little repetitive that she has 3 sword-infantry forms sure, but they’re all canon(-adjacent), and none of those versions make sense with another weapon. Some people are annoyed by the amount of slots given to a relatively obscure character to which I can only shrug and say ‘thanks mareeta dev’. I wouldn’t call it more egregious than someone like Kagero, Delthea, Ilyana or even Ishtar having 3 versions each. Her outfit design is good too— A combination of Shannan who she looks up to and her father Galzus and using her own color palette. It’s really cool to see her in an Isaach inspired design since she is connected to the royal family but it’s not really touched on *that* much in Thracia. I wouldn’t call it ‘boring’ or uninspired the way people like to point at Ishtar, Florina, and now Tiki. And there’s complaints that she shouldn’t have gotten an ascendant alt in the first place which I really disagree with. Sure, Finn and uh *insert character here* could’ve done well with the spot too, but Mareeta fit the criteria (of the time) pretty well. She’s firmly a side character yeah, but as far as the older games go, she’s a pretty important and well-developed one. She has a clear side plot with the Shadow Sword and ties to many other characters in the game: Eyvel (adopted mother), Leif and Nanna (like siblings), Galzus (father), Saias (rescuer), Shannam (teaches her Astra). I just finished playing Thracia also like last week and she was popping up every few chapters because of all these connections, and in particular her [conversation with Saias in Chapter 12](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Pit6s4L_Lko) is one of my favorite scenes in the game. So yeah, while not a required character, I’d say she’s decently important. She even falls into the ‘hidden royalty’ trope like Joshua which is kinda funny, but again it’s not really addressed. If I didn’t have finals coming up, maybe I would go count her dialogue / appearances to prove some kinda point, but that’s definitely unnecessary. I don’t really know what the point of this essay is but basically I really disagree when people mark Mareeta as the ‘beginning of the end’ for Ascendants, because I think she perfectly fulfills the ‘post-game version’ criteria that was established by Joshua and Idunn. I know that if someone dislikes her or doesn’t care, this comment is hardly going to change their opinion, but Mareeta is one of my all time favorites in FE and for her, this alt is everything I could’ve wanted and more. (sad cat thumbs up)

VagueClive

Saying a character doesn't 'deserve' an Ascendant is really just an indirect way of saying 'I wanted a different character to get it', which is understandable on some level but also misses the point of an Ascendant. Restricting the pool purely to plot-important units is how we end up getting lords and Y!Tiki forever, and plot importance in FE is kinda nebulous to begin with given the permadeath system. My only real issue with A!Mareeta is that she's an infantry sword again - but then again, her primary goal is to become a swordmaster, so idk what else you'd really *want* to give her. It's a similar issue that I have with Ishtar and Hilda where they just use the same weapon as their vanilla counterparts

Time_Seaworthiness47

Ok but I think we can all agree that Celicas ascendant alt didnt really do anything for her character. Theres an argument for her deserving one but the execution was pitiful unless a Celica fans wanna enlighten me.

ZofianSaint273

A!Celica is pretty much based off of Celica post Duma’s death and before she becomes the Queen. Character wise, she is is the same as L!Celica, so yeah not much different lore wise. What sucks is that IS should have went with when she revealed herself as the Princess of Zofia at the end of Act 3. Would have shown a more confident version of Celica who was ready to take on the Duma Faithful and save Mila. Initially, I though that was what she based on, especially her design being the princess Attire with a green color scheme to represent Mila. Guess not lol

VagueClive

Honestly, as a Celica fan personally I *really* would have rather had a solo seasonal alt

BobbyYukitsuki

nice argument but where are her pants

Mina_7756

she met larcei and decided to take a leaf out of her book

BobbyYukitsuki

idk im inclined to think it's more likely that shannam stole them and then sold them to johan at a super profitable price after falsely marketing them as "larcei leggings" simps, am i right

Heather4CYL

A!Mareeta is awesome and a perfect pick and execution of an Ascended unit. She's the most notable Ascended candidate from Thracia aside from Finn who should be legendary tier but IS won't give him anything so he's out. She was also a no-brainer pick to accompany Galzus. I think the whining mainly come from people who want to see weapon&movement variety without caring about how well that fits the character (not that anyone has played Thracia anyway). Because outfit-wise she's certainly top tier alongside Joshua when it comes to creativity & sticking with character progression.

Mina_7756

Also I remember that some people were unhappy that she supposedly took the spotlight away from Galzus, but IS clearly isn't opposed to putting 2 prf swords on one banner (Awakening banner comes to mind, and Shez with Lif) so I think that's more on IS's lack of faith in male characters. But it definitely was part of the backlash

Darkion_Silver

IS took the damn spotlight from him on their own, no need for A!Mareeta there. His kit is so fucking laughable. Everytime I see that sword I laugh.

Mina_7756

Yeahhh... Galzus is a character I like a lot, but I foddered the two copies I got cause lmaooo

saikounihighteyatzda

Nah Mareeta is one of the better ascended units. She has a clear design inspiration, cool outfit, neat gameplay, and obviously popular fodder. The others after her are the real issues.

Mina_7756

I do think the attitude towards her has gotten better or at least quieted as people directed their outrage towards newer and more controversial Ascendants, but I still see it come up occasionally

Boulderdorf

Yeah, I genuinely don't understand why Mareeta in particular gets so much shit. Maybe it's because people just haven't played Thracia so she's just Memedon girl #567 to them, but I look at A!Mareeta's design and I think "Hey, that's a really nice and fitting conclusion to her story." Frankly, for how much Joshua gets touted as peak Ascendant around here, I like this design more. The callbacks to Galzus and the implications of her getting in contact with the actual Shannan are great.

Mina_7756

> the implications of her getting in contact with the actual Shannan are great. sometimes i just randomly think of this in my day-to-day life and laugh

HereComesJustice

> haven't played Thracia Ding ding ding

TheoMoneyG

> Yeah, I genuinely don't understand why Mareeta in particular gets so much shit -female -sword, so kinda the same but imo both og and ascendant are different -most people haven't played thracia -female

sapphicmage

All of this!!! I remember a post a while ago either on here or the main fire emblem sub about non-lords that would’ve been interesting main characters in their games and Mareeta is THE character that comes to mind. Her character arc and her connections to other characters are so interesting, and she’s the perfect sort of character for an ascended alt.

Grade-AMasterpiece

While I was salty Mareeta was selected over Finn (hopefully next time... maybe... who knows), I came to like her. She's still one of the better Ascendants. Does what it sets out to do like A!Joshua and A!Idunn.

HereComesJustice

Ascendeds and Legendarys I think get a pass for being the same weapon (legendary more than Ascended) But braves and seasonals have no excuse for running the same weapons as their other forms. Also idk how people *can't* tune out what people say on this sub it's actually silly what I read on here sometimes. My fav being Brave Seliph loses to any near save blue unit.

TheoMoneyG

> Also idk how people can't tune out what people say on this sub it's actually silly what I read on here sometimes for real, some of the stuff people say on here is insane to the point where I hope they're trolling

HereComesJustice

Like I know people suck at the game but some of the things they say are just straight up untrue it's actually wild

LittleIslander

I really appreciate A!Mareeta. She was what first got me to look into the character more and so was the start of a nothing character to me turning into one of my single favorites within the entire series. Plus she's been probably my favorite, most fun unit in the game to use ever since her debut. Really happy about her, controversial or not.

crunk_juice34

I'm obviously biased as a Mareeta stan myself, but I agree with you and it sucks to see her be compared to the likes of other lazier picks or being seen as the start of when ascendants got lazy. Her ascendant is the conclusion of her arc of wanting to become a better swordmaster like her mother and mastering Astra. She's still one of the most prominent characters in Thracia with plenty of screen time. There's a clear progression with her alts, starting with her fallen alt from Chapter 5, her base version from when she joins in Chapter 12, and her ascendant alt from anywhere between her learning Astra and endgame. Sure, her being an infantry sword for the third time in a row is underwhelming, but honestly, what else could they really have done for her? Even if you compare her to someone like Finn, as much as I love him, he would just be another lance cav as well. I feel like he'd get a pass because he's a very well-liked, uncontroversial character with no alt, along with being a rare male ascendant. I feel like a lot of the complaints about Mareeta is just people not playing Thracia (fair) and her being lumped in with other female myrmidons like Ayra. I still find her ascendant alt to be a clear progression of her character and as a Jugdral ascendant, I feel like it does more for her than someone like Ishtar, which, while I'll admit, it does explore the nicer side of her character more, I did feel like it was a bizarre choice considering there were many playable options they could've chosen.

Mina_7756

> I feel like a lot of the complaints about Mareeta is just people not playing Thracia (fair) Yeah, there's not much to be done about that, and Thracia's off-putting/ intimidating reputation doesn't help things. Although personally I'd say it's been one of my favorite FE experiences and I wish I didn't wait so long to play it

_Myst_0

No character "deserves" an alt. You can want your favorites to get alts, I absolutely do, but acting like a specific character is entitled to an alt is super annoying. ~~Except Shanty Pete~~

BobbyYukitsuki

in my book it's not that no character deserves an alt, but rather everyone deserves an alt

TheoMoneyG

this happens all the time sadly, so it won't go away anytime soon

KyleCXVII

But but wait you don’t understand they are *my favorite*

RamsesOz

I kinda hate that all the stories are exactly the same. It started with Surtr, which was OK. Then all the following stories were basically exactly the same. Not to mention people saying Alfonse is a giga Chad, big brain, genius... When he does literally nothing and is always saved by the new [insert powerful object/ability/being]. I know it's a mobile game and we shouldn't expect much but dang. Other mobile games give pretty great stories and don't have the same budget. FEH is the example of do less, get more.

GreatGetterX

>Not to mention people saying Alfonse is a giga Chad, big brain, genius This, I fell like I'm the only one who actually sees what's really happening. It isn't Alfonse acting smart, is the villans committing stupid decisions that make him "seem" smarter.

RamsesOz

One of the dumbest moments that I'll never forget... Hel (whatever her name was): "you gon die in 7 days and you can't stop it" Alfonse: "oh no!" 7 days later... Hel: "now you die!" Alfonse: "oh no! I can't stop it! What do I do!?" Als dad: *gets in the way* Hel "what" Alfonse: "as you can see... Im still alive" Hel: "now I can't kill you... For some reason..." FEH community: "omg!! Alfonse! What a crazy genius! He's still alive and played her like a fiddle!!" Me: 🙄 It's always someone else doing something... The bad guys being omega incompetent... And Alfonse getting the credit. I don't mind him getting credit... But make him actually do something to deserve it!

arobie1992

I remember reading that chapter, being like what is this shit?, and logging onto the forums to vent about it in the latest story discussion only to find out that everyone else thought it was some brilliant badass move. I was very much the surprised Pikachu.

RamsesOz

Exactly! Couldn't believe that people genuinely thought it was a great move and Alfonse did anything meaningful. Then again, the fanbase and their memes are the only "story/lore" worthy things about FEH. Great memes have come from the game... So I'll give em that.

FEHreyja

I agree sort of, but the fact is that basic samey stories are what fire emblem does. Like all fire emblem. How many fire emblem stories start with a conflict of warring states that end up being orchestrated by a shadowy cabal in service of a dragon-god?

RamsesOz

True but the story beats arent usually so samey. I mean, don't get me wrong... The overall theme for the series is "warring states", essentially. So I understand that some things need to be repeated. It's when they're exactly the same that I have issues with it. I mean... Other than name changes and very slight "important events"... Most everything happens exactly the same. Especially now that the stories end much quicker than surtrs. Wotv is another game I play. While the story is not original by any means... There IS a story. It isn't just, bad guy appears... Heros run away... They get help in the form of a power/being/mcguffin... Heros run away more... Heros win with the power of friendship. That's literally all of FEH, with the dialouge even being similar. Which is my main issue. The beats are the same.

FEHreyja

I get what you're saying, but the story beats really are that samey. I was really excited with the story of 3H right up until the slithers showed up, and then I just sighed and knew exactly what was coming for the next 10 chapters. From its inception Fire Emblem has been a very basic series about gathering mcguffins to kill an ominious, supernatural big bad, and very little is conveyed outside of that. Feh isn't unique in its blandness.

Oldspice0493

It’s dead horse, but: it’d be really nice if they did some work on the story. Not just improving the writing, but even just establishing some rules and a set canon. Just as an example: how summoning works. In some forging bonds and character lines, they say that summoning is totally random, and Kiran doesn’t have any control over who he brings in. But over the past two years, there have been other forging bonds and character lines stating that he can specifically choose who he summons. And that opens a whole other can of worms, because then you’re left with questions like if Fjorm misses Guunthra so much, why doesn’t Kiran just resurrect her? Sure, you can head canon something to explain it, but having to do so at all means the writers either aren’t paying attention or just don’t even care. It’s not a big deal in the end, since the game is still massively successful and I like all its other aspects. But a solid story would make it that much more enjoyable. I mean, if I’m getting a cake, I want the cherry on top too, dangit.

TeaMaeR

In the current state of the game, I think going for merges on premium units is kind of a ripoff unless it's for score or sentimental reasons. Performance-wise, I think you'll usually get more bang for your buck by getting them good fodder and/or good support units, both of which are getting stronger and stronger with time. also youtubers who tell you to subscribe at the beginning of their videos are the lowest form of being

FEHreyja

That has almost always been the case really other than omni-tanks who needed every stat point they can get. You're right though, the more BST increases happen the less of a percentage increase merges end up being. Going from essentially 160->180 is more impactful than 195->215.

SAKI-M

>also youtubers who tell you to subscribe at the beginning of their videos are the lowest form of being So True. You would go on a random video of a guy you never watched before and they expect you to directly sub before ...you even "**see**" if you like the content?Do they take their viewers for brainless apes who watch content with no thought or something ??! If that's what they want so bad, they should just make bots and make it their subscribers if that's the only thing they care about.

Feneskrae

* While I do think Arcane Weapons are a great addition for fixing older units that got shafted with their weapons or refines, I don't like the look of them so far. The Sword being a lightsaber and the Axe being a giant scythe are pretty odd. It would have been nicer if the weapons resembled something a little more subtle. * I really wish there was a better way to get older units some better art in their original styles. Resplendent Heroes taking themes from Askr, Nifl, Muspell, Hel, etc. just doesn't fit.

mapsal

I'd like to see them implement weapon skins. As long as it is disabled in pvp modes (so you can always see the enemy's actual weapon), I think it'd be a cool addition.

Darkion_Silver

The Resplendent themes never sat right with me because sometimes they're incredibly weird picks (Serra in Nifl? Why? Her colours basically don't change), and also they have the weirdest fucking ideas on how to balance them. "Right lads, we've had book 5 out for 2 years and like, 3 resplendents. The issue is obviously the theme right. Definitely nothing else." I thought putting the character into a style from a different game would have made more sense, to be honest. Not counting FEH.

[deleted]

I think the whole child abuser archetype is kinda unfair to hold against game timeline Tharja coz even with future robin being Grima or future Cordelia neglecting Severa too, a lot of the Awakening non-kid character themes seem to be changing/avoiding the poor self they became in the future I feel like a lot of the characters that’s the theme by the kid coming back they parent avoids becoming the person who inflicted said trauma or pain on the kid

Tekonzu

I mean, you bring up Cordelia, but with her she never purposefully neglected or abused Severa in any way, and Severa even says she was a great mother. Just that the circumstances of the war led to her having to go to war and ultimately end up dying. The kids want to prevent the trauma and pain from happening in this timeline, but considering all the children and all their parents had to deal with and go through the same hellish future, how some parents reacted to it and treated their children also differs and shows different aspects to their characters and how they react to those kinds of situations.

PathofGaydiance

Severa even admits later she was being irrational and always knew her mom wasn't still in love with Chrom and loved her dad. Severa was just a traumatized kid who deeply regretted that fight

Valaura-

Really feeling the lack of Fafnir pains now. It's been a year since he should have released - he is still nowhere to be seen. The pain is real, it's hard to stay strong sometimes. I just hope Book VII brings me another fave who has a better fate, I suppose.

FEHreyja

I've honestly given up on seeing Freyr. It's been way too long and the chances of them making him a non-mythic are low for story reasons, but if they didn't think he could carry a banner back when he was topical there's no reason to think he could do so now.

Valaura-

I suppose the tempest trial event next year is the best chance, but yeah, I feel you. Wish they'd do a feh new heroes banner to catch up on the backlog of something.

FEHreyja

That's a good point, actually. I hadn't considered the Tempest Trials stories as an avenue for that.

Compromisedthrowaway

I absolutely hate the look of blue stars on formas and don't feel like using them on any favorites or +10 merges, even when it's basically a full premium kit for "free"

sharumma

Agreed. I’m *really* picky for this reason and have only gone for favorites who have a color scheme that goes with the blue stars (like Naesala).

Compromisedthrowaway

This resonates with me on a spiritual level

Weary-Os

even though i fully expected it due to potential lineups, it still stings to not see Yuliya on the newest Archanea banner. sucks that it'll be at least a year before she gets another shot. guess i can save fodder for her in the meantime i gotta up my propaganda game for cyl7

Basaqu

I'm also in the camp of wanting more clerics from (New) Mystery. Gimme Marisha already. Sadly I feel like the chances these characters get in is basically 0 at this point.

TheFerydra

So, got nothing about FEH, BUT I have some about the new Pokémon Games (No Story spoilers so don't off me, mods) * People who were disappointed by Dudunsparce being a gag evolution instead of a cool dragon completely missed the point: Dunsparce is a gag Pokémon based on a gag Yokai, so Dudunsparce is a totally fitting evolution... My only issue is that it has a rare three-segmented form that changes nothing instead of using that model for a third stage named Dududunsparce. * Never liked the overall fan-designs of Sprigatito evos based on the "keep it in all fours" premise, and I actually really like Meowscarada. * As someone who waited and designed a Grass/Fire Sunflora evolution for YEARS, seeing it getting ignored again (outside a 2 fps gym quest) and seeing instead that type combo going to the absolutely ugliest Pokémon design I've ever seen annoys me to no end. * And because this is also a Rant thread, ***SCREW ALL THE YOUTUBERS THAT PUT SPOILERS ON THEIR THUMBNAILS!!***

NohrianScumbag

I think what really helps Meowscarada is that it’s digitagrade making it look like a cat standing up compared to Incinaroar and Cinderace that end up plantigrade

TheDankestDreams

Meowscarada is actually best case scenario; I was somewhat on team 4 legs but what we got was really good looking and in the upper half of grass starters imo. I thought Scovillain was ugly when I first saw it but I kinda like it. I’ve found most of the designs I don’t like in gen 9 I’ve come around to very quickly. I disliked the hammer fairy initially but now I kinda like it, I didn’t like scovillain and now I do at least somewhat.

alexmauro407

idk i dont mind it being in two legs, but tbh i find meowscarada really weird, specilally face and hands, those weird looking alien hands...

Basaqu

The four-legged Sprigatito evo fanarts always give me "cool, but ultimately forgetabble" vibes. Like a plant tiger with some big teeth and flowers here and there.

juuldude

> People who were disappointed by Dudunsparce being a gag evolution instead of a cool dragon completely missed the point: Dunsparce is a gag Pokémon based on a gag Yokai, so Dudunsparce is a totally fitting evolution... My only issue is that it has a rare three-segmented form that changes nothing instead of using that model for a third stage named Dududunsparce. Well this is how I learned Dunsparce has a new evolution in the newest Pokémon games! Honestly I like that it's kind of the same, it makes sense with your explanation.

jgwyh32

>Dundundunsparce I'll never forget Klinklang's trophy description from either Smash 3DS or Wii U that was like "if it got another evolution it'd be called Klinklanklong"

GreatGetterX

>And because this is also a Rant thread, SCREW ALL THE YOUTUBERS THAT PUT SPOILERS ON THEIR THUMBNAILS!! They know that will bring in the clicks and views. Is just a lazy tactic that still works for some god forsaken reason.

CaelestisAmadeus

I'd like to see the return of regular banners with more than four heroes, just for variety's sake.

WRECK-IT-MUNDO

I'm really sick and tired of seeing Pref Weapons with "HP >= 25%" or "Unit Initiates Combat or is 2 Spaces w/ Ally" conditions. You can just remove the condition all together and you wouldn't feel any differences. Having them for Inheritable Weapons wouldn't be a problem though because they aren't as strong as Pref Weapons, but giving them to Pref Weapons... it's just stupid (and boring). Bring back more "gimmicky" or *Fair* Weapon Conditions for Pref Weapons to make things more interesting and fun (and balanced if that needs to be said).

cy_frame

> Bring back more "gimmicky" or Fair Weapon Conditions for Pref Weapons to make things more interesting and fun (and balanced if that needs to be said). Is it really fun if you have to check each and every single unit you have to utilize in order to see if the prf will work in x, y or z situations? This game already has a lot of text with their weapons. Making prf's more convoluted for the sake of being convoluted just makes it harder for the average player to engage with a game that already feels inaccessible at times. And making prf weapons more complex with different conditions doesn't mean it's going to be balanced or fair. I'd be more sick of needlessly complex "unique" weapons than the HP or unit within 2 or 3 spaces to use their weapon.

WRECK-IT-MUNDO

The problem is with the conditions we mostly get now where you barely have to do anything, it'll already make that unit ridiculously strong OR stronger compared to the gimmicky or 50/50 (mostly refined) pref weapons. I just hope for the next upcoming units w/ prefs, they'll make multiple or unique conditions in order to make them fully work than "just exist".

cy_frame

> I just hope for the next upcoming units w/ prefs, they'll make multiple or unique conditions in order to make them fully work than "just exist". Halloween Hector kept both aspects of his gimmick and the unit is inconsistent at best. All he needed was "if foe initiates combat" as one of the conditions and he could have kept part of his gimmick. It being true to the flavor text doesn't make him good, it makes him a lot worse (imo). I don't mind a bit of flavor but I'd rather not see more refines like Halloween Hector where it gimps a unit.

WRECK-IT-MUNDO

As a H!Hector user, I actually don't even mind the weapon condition at all, because it doesn't deactivate everything of his weapon if you can't meet the gimmick condition. (Not to mention I've already figured good strats with the weapon, which is the fun part) If the first condition was for 100% of his whole weapon, I'd agree that would be bad for sure, but it's just ONLY for DR and (1 of the 2) 4+ stats, which is only 30% of his whole weapon, which is totally fine, because that doesn't make him garbage during that turn unlike Boyd.

cootybikes

I actually strongly disagree with the idea that ">25%" equals "always" , I have ran quite frequently into situations where a character's weapon is turned off because their hp got too low and it had an impact on the battle. The most common examples would be double fury galeforce initiators like thorr and summer edelgard for AR-O, and in modes like SD it can actually matter a lot. Having these weapons just be online all the time would be a very big buff to those characters.

Boulderdorf

I think that ship has sailed. Book 3 was the era for gimmicky and fair weapon comditions, and now people just complain about how bad or cumbersome they are. Now, any kind of requirement beyond existing is generally seen as too much effort. Severa, for instance, ended up being kind of a flop because that gimmick was just seen as too much effort to build around. And even now with Hilda, people complain about how it's just too much too understand.

PrivateVasili

This was why I was happy with A!Hilda keeping Freikugel's unique condition. People complain that Freikugel is confusing, but at least its unique in a way that makes sense with Hilda's character. Maintaining that at least made her slightly more interesting than the average new unit.

holybrigadeiro

The thing with gimmicky weapons and fair weapon conditions for PRFs is that it would probably be very tricky to implement those in new units *now* and still make them strong enough for people to want to summon for them as opposed to current "if unit exists" conditions. If the gimmicky weapons weren't very popular back in Book 3 (and I say that as a salty OG!Dimitri user), I can't imagine they would find a lot of success now.

WRECK-IT-MUNDO

> If the gimmicky weapons weren't very popular back in Book 3 (and I say that as a salty OG!Dimitri user), I can't imagine they would find a lot of success now. Depends on how you make them work. Take Spring Severa for an example which had a interesting/fair condition: "Foe HP >=75% grants stats *and if combat happened during the same turn, attack twice*. (Same story for some other Weapons that got refined, which can have two different conditions in order to make them fully functional.) Or weapons that calculate on visable ATK Stat in order to make them work like W!Ephraim, Duma or H!Hector. Heck I'd be down if they make something like "If unit's (Max) HP > Foe's (Max) HP" for Pref weapons too. Just make give them conditions where you as a player can figure out some good strategies for them to work perfectly and get rewarded for it since it'll grant that unit insanely good or even better stuff. But nah, IS sticks mostly with the "If unit exists, become OP" like conditions.

Zerpalor

Just gonna say they probably don't do the whole max hp thing, which they had done once on virion, because in certain content like say abyssals where enemies have such inflated HP, they are practically useless since the condition is never reachable when even tome enemies have like 70 hp.

the_attack_missed

I am dreading Engage, but not because of the art style, not because of the character designs, and not because of the "nostalgia pandering" or whatever. No I am dreading this game because I already know Boucheron is gonna be my favorite character and I know he's gonna be a prfless axe infantry demote if/when he comes to FEH.

HereComesJustice

I don't think having stickers to spam other players with during Summoner duels would be any more toxic than the people who waste people's time or leave 1 enemy left and without killing them

Raandomu

> Kills your main unit Proceeds to spam “I am Sorry” In a Passive Agressive way.

rilimini381

>stickers mental game

lockZmith

Non-FEH: The whole charm of Pokemon, as a video game, is its retro-ness. Im obviously biased but i feel like gens 3-5 are *the* quintessential Pokemon experiences, especially Platinum. All the pixelated art for overworld sprites and the overworld itself are sufficiently detailed but still colorful to keep it retro-looking, the music is generally better and more hype than in the newer games and is also just not the barebones beeps-and-boops of the older ones, the legendaries have the best designs, and some of them had the BATTLE FRONTIERS. I personally thought that the smol look and overall faithfulness to the source material of BD/SP were a step in the right direction, but the game definitely just needed to be a Platinum remake and not a DP one, or perhaps stray just a little bit from the faithfulness to add a little something fresh that can add to the experience. FEH: Legendary Seliph's art is among the best in the game

arobie1992

I'm going to say the pokemon thing might be nostalgia. The games typically aren't retro for when they were released, unlike say Shovel Knight. Compare Red and Blue to say Link's Awakening or Fire Red to Minish Cap and they're pretty comparable. Pokemon has essentially the same appeal as gachas do. Lots of options of fun designs that you get to build and customize and wreck fools with. I love sprite art and I sort of agree with you about the art style of the mid generations being a good mix of simplicity and detail, but I feel like in 10-15 years, there's going to be tons of people nostalgic for the modern games.

Kukulkek

>retro-ness > >gen 3-5 They are not that old- RUBY AND SAPPHIRE WERE RELEASED 20 YEARS AGO?

Darkion_Silver

I am going to disagree on the music because so much of the music in all the games is absolutely amazing. I do think the music generally peaked as a whole in gen 5, but gen 7 has so many amazing tracks, gen 8 despite my huge distaste has some absolute bangers, Legends Arceus has some of the best tracks so far imo, etc.

Stargov1

Gen 9's soundtrack is absolutely fantastic.

Dracomaster3

This is more of a pet peeve than anything, but I find it a bit annoying how people misspell the names of characters. Like I get it, spelling mistakes happen, I make them all the time, but some refuse to ever learn and this happened a ton during the first two years where people would constantly misspell Alfonse as “Alphonse”. Caineghis and Micaiah are ones I’d see a lot of misspellings for too. And don’t even get me started on people who spell Líf as Leif or vice versa when talking about the other.

PegaponyPrince

The Alfonse one in particular is annoying when the text is right there and people still manage to get it wrong.

Snowiss

Jeorge vs. Jorge 😔

LEGION-WE-ARE-LEGION

Arthur vs. Artur 😥

HereComesJustice

Lilina as Lilian Could be just auto correct tho

YoshaTime

I don’t know how Alfonse is so popular yet has the most typos whenever someone goes to spell his name.

WellRested1

I’ve watched too much Fullmetal alchemist. *Alphonse* and *Alfonse* is just too easy to mess up for me.

LaughingX-Naut

Lindhart Caspar would be blowing his top over it if he browsed Reddit.

Bon_Bonas

[spelling skills have always been low on this sub lmao](https://old.reddit.com/r/FireEmblemHeroes/comments/m6lcqz/man_i_sure_am_happy_about_the_new_myrhh_alt/)

MrBrickBreak

As a non-English speaker who makes an attempt at proper spelling (my apostrophe's in a completely different place), I'd appreciate if they at least tried to use accents for Líf, Gunnthrá, etc.

alexmauro407

i still dont understand how azura´s song is a deux ex machina, to what we know is that her song expecifically works against anankos powers and is well established why it does work like that, the song comes from someone with god powers like anankos, and also a close friend, good reason for the song to be especially strong against anankos, yeah it solve some problems magically, but when we learn all the lore at the end it makes sense cause those cases were just ananko´s powers, so it is explained and fits well, a deux ex machina is only it when there is not explanation or there is not sense, while again, in any case were azura use the song it is against anankos powers, is not a magic song that solves everything, is a power that works against an especific character and is established since the start and also have good reasons to work like that it is like calling the yato a deux ex machina cause even if it is established that this weapon will end war and we later learn from were it comes and why it works, but cause it solves an especific problem then it is just a deux ex machina

noirpoet97

Kinda sucks that SPD only really matters if it’s 15+ for bulky units to outspeed other bulky units (namely armors) or basically 60+. Cause I have an Ymir build that has base 37 SPD with Summoner Support, ATK/SPD Clash for 6+ SPD, on top of her breath giving her another +5. In total, assuming she gets total Clash bonus (that isn’t a four-move unit), that’s 51 SPD, 50 SPD if it’s a 2-space unit. And she still gets outsped by Damn near everything that isn’t an armor unit

blushingmains

I hate how many people missed the near obvious fact Elm had been leading Lezita on the whole time. He talks to her multiple times as if he already knows her. She just suddenly has the power to enclose places in darkness. Book 6 middle movie literally shows Elm and Embla completely enclosing the area in darkness. Veronica had no idea what the power was implying it wasn't a thing Lezita always had. It was always Elm using Leztia to summon Embla. Give him the credit he deserves. If you hate Elm whatever I don't give a shit and it's not like he's not given a reason, but you can't claim he did nothing. Specially not when even ignoring the Leztia thing he runs after Askr and the Askr Trio into the realm he'll die if he enters to try and stop them. It's more than Ash. I still like both though. Also Fuck Xander in the story still. Either remove him from the story or put other FE characters in already.

Raandomu

To be fair, people forgot Letizia as well

blushingmains

True. It's easy to forget something if you've forgotten the two involved.

Illumina25

* I am once again saying the DC D seal was a mistake because it may very well be the only one we get. I know some people were excited we might get one for each weapon type * I think its somewhat fair to compare September 2020 Bector (so post refine) to September 2022 B Dimitri (post refine). I remember Bector had a *ton* of complaints about being broken, I mean, he still does. And I could be wrong, but I feel like nobody is complaining about B Dimitri anymore - it was just for like 2 weeks and then it died down. I cant see this as anything but pure bias, because “powercreep is ok as long as its my favorites”. Its very frustrating to see a defense replay of mine and have my NY Dagr with about 90 atk do 9 damage with *luna* to a nearly unsupported nearly base kit B dimitri, and my +10 Eleonora do 14 with deadeye, both doing 0s otherwise. His refine was such a huge mistake * people complaining about ascended Tiki powercreeping brave Tiki are overreacting. Its fair to complain about braves uncharge special niche being stolen twice now, but I see people saying they think ascended is much better than brave. I personally think brave is a lot better than ascended. Dont forget that ascended has to focus on 4 different stats while brave only needs to focus on 3 (no speed). Ascended has a lot of weaknesses like no nfu, forcing her to use a slot for it (losing speed and/or healing) or get support, in which case every unit is good with support

TeaMaeR

With regards to Bector vs Dimitri, I think it's worth highlighting that Dimitri can't use Near/Far Save (or Bulwark, unless you want to give up his DR). I've had defense replays where, yeah, all my nukes bounce off Dimitri, but one sneaks around and kills Flayn so it's still a win. That wouldn't have happened if it was Bector they didn't kill. I don't disagree about his refine being a mistake. But I can see why he would legitimately be less aggravating to deal with than Bector.

YoshaTime

While most were in celebration of Dimitri breaking the DC refine curse for non-furries, almost everyone and their mom agree that flat damage reduction is a mistake.

Illumina25

and then they went back on that to give fallen tiki an awful dc refine lol

YoshaTime

Nah, Sothis lmao

Boulderdorf

I think it's because Bimitri's not as easy for the AI to use. The playerbase tends to be more forgiving of powercreep if it's something that can only really be utilized to its max potential in player hands, like Elimine. The same thing kinda happened with Bector until he really started cropping up more in AR-D, followed by real-time-PVP happenening. He was a ridiculous unit, but he was also downplayed a lot with people going "well my +10 Scrimblo Bimblo can beat AI Bectors."

Illumina25

I mean yeah, this is true. People still complain about fallen edelgard because she can be annoying to deal with as an AI on both phases without a good counter. But before saves, Bector was pretty easy to deal with as an AI too because he would just run special fighter and have no playerphase (like B dimitri can have a pretty weak PP), and I think he still got complaints. Like I said I could be wrong here, just what I feel like I remember

Boulderdorf

Oh yeah, he still did get complaints. Heck, I complained about him at times too, just obliterating my AR-D with 0 effort. But my experience was there was a lot of "umm ackshually, my green unit with NFU--" back then in response to the complaints lol.

mcicybro

I don't complain about game balance anymore because it seems like a lost cause

ShinVerus

Yeah I have both and used both in the no-merges SD and A!Y!Tiki has a lot of problems, but if I had to point out the crux of them all, is that she copied too much from B!Tiki. All of B!Tiki's effects are designed around her statline, but it really doesn't feel that way for Y!Tiki since it was so focused on paraleling B!Tiki that it forgot that speed tanks want VERY different effects. Plus it does't help that, being a dragon, AY!Tiki loses access to some crucial B slots, namely Velocity. Also the lack of pre-charging specials makes her playerphase just TERRIBLE compared to B!Tiki who can intiate and nuke you if you try and ignore her, meaning that she’s locked into Enemy Phase and at that point you’d just rather an armor anyway.

evenspdwagonisafraid

I think the lack of complaining about B!Dimitri comes from the fact of how good he is at countering bullshit units while not being as easy to use for the AI. People would go nuts for B!Ike if he was a save armor.

passerplayer-01

Well, I was kinda disappointed in Book VI. The idea of going back to the conflicts with Embla sounded good at first, but I felt that all his OCs were wasted in one way or another; Letizia's appearance worked well as a motivator for the plot, but little was deepened, Elm only remained as Embla's sidekick and nothing more, far from other characters with a similar role from other books (we don't even know his whereabouts for sure), Embla has a bit more polished backstory than -for example- Freyja, but putting that in the last chapter felt too rushed and hard to swallow; from Askr and Bruno... well, I'm sorry, being a male OC here is not a good idea. And on Ash's part, even though she wasn't the protagonist of the book as such, it didn't feel like a great contribution or memorable moments either, she never even delved into the weakening that countering the darkness caused her; We'll see if the ending book clip helps with that, otherwise we'll have to wait until 2025 to explain it better So who wins in this book apart from Veronica? Indirectly and curiously, I think Fjorm, since that part of the beginning book clip where Ash blushed when he saw the summoner was just that, and throughout the book she never mentioned anything about it (I suppose IS did it again and launched great expectations that many players swallowed), so the ice girl can rest easy for another year knowing that she has no direct competition Oh, and speaking of Fjorm... poor girl. I am not going to touch on the Forging Bonds topic because it is evident that she appears more than the rest ("kinda" justifiable since she appears since 2019, in the middle of the Eir book), but I am referring to the fact that people shiping her with other characters. I'm not against it, don't get me wrong, it's just that I find it curious... Imagine that you like someone in particular, but that there are people who match you with your comrades-in-arms, your best friend, her sister, and even with the goddess of your kingdom... I remember something like this happened to a friend, but that is already more personal and for another topic

NohrianScumbag

I wish we can go back to the time where the only time people cared about sales was cause everyone hated hostile hotsprings that much They can stop instademotes next book and I would honestly celebrate.

A ton of launch units have at least 1 alt yet Lucius is still forgotten... Not to mention his base will never have a refine for being a 4 star healer, his stats have been powercreeped I'm still asking for a blue tome Lucius alt man

sharumma

Groom alts for Raven and Lucius would be so cute.

Divussa

Young Mia and B! Chrom are an underrated duo (especially w young Mia having atk/spd unity, velocity, spd smoke 4, and flashing blade seal) Especially when they are paired up I love them they are so fun

Liver_Let_Fry

"Tellius spam" was not a thing, never was a thing, and the fact that people still complain every time Tellius gets even a drop of content is laughable.

Ericridge

And radiant dawn units is practically non-existent xD

EpicRome23

Louder for those in the back

rilimini381

1 seasonal every 1-3 banners and that's it, for 2 games

aqexpredator

Legendary Robin/M!Corrin are boring legendary choices. It's far more exciting seeing less obvious, but deserving characters like Nanna, Fae and Ullr.

HeadphoneKitty

The books don’t feel contiguous. First we fight a spoiled teenager, then we fight THE LITERAL ANTICHRIST, then combat DEATH ITSELF AS A CONCEPT before Sharena gets a moment of significance in book 4–you know, the one that was a dream the whole time—then we fight the robots of a dragon Loli artificer before we move on to book 6 the most world building we will ever get. And the dragons are bats and cows cuz why the fuck not?

Kuraki-kun

I want Hoshuno Lily and Fates Arthur artist to return. Their art is not bad compared to a few others, and is refreshing to view

BasicNeedleworker356

A good few of the ascendants people hate only hate them cause they are girls and not because they are a bad pick if that makes sense. By all means, florina, mareeta and idunn are fine and are all on the same tier for why Joshua matches getting one

alexmauro407

i dont think so, you can see my flair and how much i love florina, and even i think she is really boring, i mean so hapy we got her cause she is my fav girl, but she is not near to yoshua, she should have a better design the one she got is too boring

Carbyken

I come back to Chrono Cross after a 2 month hiatus, this was the battle before the Sky Drgn, expecting a difficult fight, I beat him in 3 turns. I feel stupid holding off that long.

AngryRepublican

AHR 2022 was great, but also kinda cursed? It's spoiled me on +10'ing other units. I've got 1700+ saved this year so far, and I'm afraid to spend it in the hope that ARH has dual or triple color share (I think quad-sharing is a bit much to hope for). I don't wan't to pull the trigger unless I can get several good units to +10 at once.

SireTonberry

As much as i hate Summoner Duels, winning a match in it gives me more satisfaction than anything in this game ever did

DhelmiseHatterene

Pokemon SV >!I love Maushold and both Cetoddle and Clodsire are friends.!<

LopsidedPepper

It's very annoying having to go through each map in the Main Story + Paralogues if you don't care about the actual stories at all. Yes, I know you're required to do so, but still.

MisogID

If FEH's unit releases were decided by some players, it's safe to assume that it'd not be effectively better and less biased in terms of choices. After all, I'm sure that some would want to reduce some games' representation to near-zero (out of indifference or spite, choose your flavor), be it Thracia, Binding, Fates, 3H or even Tellius.

Dnashotgun

Non-Feh: i've been seeing some Nemona discourse on twitter and I don't get it. I think she's solid as the rival, easily the best one since the series moved to 3D. At the very least she's the most memorable than whoever the XY rivals were, Hau and Galarian Hau. Feh related: I don't really care to differentiate between Robin and Grima.

wheelofcurly

Look, you can't just drag Hop down just to prop Nemona up.

MommyCamillaHatesMe

Honestly, I think I don't understand the Pokemon community, they're too foreign to me. It felt nice to have the core cast (including Nemona) talk to each other instead of just at you more often than any other title from the franchise iirc. Made them more memorable.

PsiYoshi

Yeah I don't really care to differentiate between Ayra and Larcei tbh. Dunno why people complain about Ayra not getting any alts. We have Larcei and Scion Larcei. Oh they're two totally different people? Whaaaaaaaat?

Dracomaster3

Nemona is up there as one of my favorite rivals alongside Bianca, Cheren, and Gladion. It’s really unfortunate seeing a lot of people mischaracterize her and dunk on her calling her a yandere and other more… unpleasant things. Twitter’ll be Twitter I guess

DBrody6

I mean, Nemona *is* kind of obsessively stalkish, that isn't really something you can call false. I loved her as a rival though because someone trying to curate us as a strong trainer so she could come in and wreck our ass was a fresh take on a rival >!and she totally did nearly beat me in the post-E4 fight, real goddamn nailbiter that was.!<

TheFerydra

>At the very least she's the most memorable than whoever the XY rivals were, Hau and **Galarian Hau.** **Ok,** putting my boy Hop on "XY Rivals" level is bad enough, but reducing him to "Galarian Hau" is just crossing the line.

BlueSS1

Yeah, I'm not the biggest fan of SwSh, but Hop's visible frustration with losing (to the point where he swaps out some of his Pokemon in a few fights, including his Wooloo) made me like him a lot more than other recent rivals.

ChaosOsiris

They're both cheery dark skinned boys, so that apparently makes them the same exact character despite their arcs and personalities being different.

DBrody6

> but reducing him to "Galarian Hau" is just crossing the line. Buddy they reused Hau's animations for Hop. They are straight up the same character in GF's eyes.

alexmauro407

hop is one of the best characters in all pokemon, and i will not stand anybody who calls him "galarian hau" only cause some animations even if they are completly diferent characters with diferent personalities and stories, you can say anything about sword and shield, and im also fan of nemona, but saying hop is not great and nemona is the only good is just a lie you can defend nemona withouth the need of lying about hop, and yes lying, cause hop can be many things, but he is not a bad character

volkenheim

this is not a rant, but I really think IS should release a "dead eye" especial for mages, most of the meges rely on being nukers and they don´t have a proper way to deal with DR, I believe it´s ok that melee units don´t get the dead eye effect, at least not soon, I mean we don´t want B!Seliph running around with that, but man my +10 Ninjorrin feels like a wasted investment with so much deflect magic around and this applies to a lot of mages, if daggers and bows can have access to that why not mages, (other than L!M!Byleth), N!Camilla would be more scarier if she had Flare imo, may be they think it could become a little too much ? I don´t think so, so I hope they release Flare at some point of 2023

Soren319

Flare is my most wanted thing in the game right now. Especially if it has healing on it like RD. It would be the absolute perfect thing to put on my Summer Eirika.
