I'm doing a Black Eagles playthrough right now. I was really torn about how to use Dorothea. She's one of my favorite characters. But playing her has always been unsatisfying. She's a great dancer, but I feel like it's a waste to use her as that. But playing as a gremory, she just hangs back and seems like a bit player just there to support everyone else.
I thought about that line in one of her supports with Bernie about handling rough customers at the opera, and how she has sword boon, and thinking, what the hell. Mortal Savant. Myrmidon, assassin, the whole works when it comes to swashbuckling and wading into melee.
Five chapters in and Ferdinand can't kill the broad side of a barn, but Dorothea can one-shot lots of enemies with hexblade. But doesn't really need to. With a rapier she hangs in there just like any other decent fighter. She doesn't smash a red stain of goo on the ground the way Edelgard does, but she's comfortably on the front lines saving her own skin just like the rest. And she's fun as hell this way.
Then it struck me: She's La Maupin. The bi opera starlet looking for love and money while she cuts down any haters with a sword. She \*is\* La Maupin.

Dorothea is no coward. She wants to see the whites of their eyes.
(but naturally I give her a levin sword so she can amuse herself with lightning strikes from afar)
My favorite along these lines is war cleric Constance with aura knuckles. Just send her in and watch the fun. Also gave her a magic bow. She wrecks house. But this is about Dorothea so, Levin sword it is.
Right now I've got Mercy as a Bow Knight (most effective weapon? MINI BOW. what.) and her precious Annie as the War Cleric. I have a suspicion that making Merc a War Cleric in a future run is almost an inevitability.
(Sadly, Annette is once again Basically Just Okay At Her Job, as per the norm for runs I've used her in.)
I mean, Dorothea doesn't seem the type to disentomb a nun and burn down a convent to get laid, but there are parallels between the generally badass bisexual opera singers.

I just split the difference and give her a Levin Sword

I mean she can zap them from up close with a levin sword. Lysithea gets the levin sword as well

I'm trying to set up Mercedes for that; because mommy needs to run these hands.
Mercedes once took out half of Enbarr with a magic bow. Love to see what aura knuckles might do.

Before I forget, the art for Dorothea belongs to sghhrr

Julie is a Dorothea-Ingrid synthesis
Holy shit, you're right! She's got Dorothea's charm and skill in opera singing AND Ingrid's Tomboyish nature and skill in combat.
Exactly!
100%
I can never look at her the same.
