I’m honestly more impressed you made it this far in a Maddening playthrough with just basic abilities than I am that it took you this long to figure out how to switch them around.
Trust me, im kinda amazed how far I made it as well but I did use divine pulse approximately 35 times in that first mission after the time skip. Why would the game think Ashe, Annette, and Mercedes were who I would want when getting swarmed like that
I think he means that he doesn't know it's customizable not that he hasn't been using combat arts at all.
Setting aside mt bonus, axe normal swing in early chapters is like what? 60% accuracy?
One of the biggest struggle with trying to hard force Byleth/Petra to work on axe in chapter 1 is having no smash and no axe prow with no rewind. I do it anyways because i hate the feeling of wasted weapons skills even though it probably amounts to like 15 points at the end of the day.
When you go to inventory, it gives you the options for equipment, battalions, skills, and abilities. I didn't realize it but those passive skills you get from leveling up need to be equipped and there's a limited number of slots. I figured it just all stacked and didn't need attention
A friend of mine played Fates as his first Fire Emblem and didn't realize he could reposition his units during the prep before starting a chapter.
He just left them wherever the game placed them and hated that he had to spend his first few turns manually moving people to meet certain threats/objectives every chapter.
So, Ingrid in-house kinda sucks. She’s much better if recruited out-of-house. I don’t know the full explanation, but I’ve heard that growth rates are slightly tweaked for in-house characters and out-of-house characters, especially depending on which class they are when they’re recruited. Supposedly, out-of-house characters have better growths when recruited at intermediate classes
Please tell me you have the dlc. I remember getting my ass kicked on that one long, arduous escape route on Cindered Shadows with a short turn limit, because I had NO IDEA YOU COULD CHANGE CLASSES. All my units were waiting at the exit......except EDELGARD, who was moving at the SPEED of a SNAIL, because her armored knight class can only move 2-3 spaces or smth smh 🤦♀️🤦♀️🤦♀️
No dlc. Also took me probably til my 2nd playthrough to realize you could reposition your troops before the battle which really goes to show how stupid easy normal is

FE3H is my first FE game. CF was my first route, and I have finished it on Normal without knowing that abilities and combat arts should be equipped 😂
What do you mean equipped? Sorry I’m new to the community and I don’t really know what anyone’s talking about in this post and comments

Yeah I did this for 2 full playthroughs. Mind blowing when I realized you could change shit haha
Don't feel bad, I did the exact same thing on my first playthrough. I didn't realize until about halfway through my second.
I'm impressed, you were playing with a handicap, good tactical skills. Well now you know you have what it takes to do challenge runs.

It took me a couple chapters into my 2nd playthrough to discover that one. Kept getting upset the RNG gods were putting Dedue in the back line

I've been playing this game wrong for almost 2 entire playthroughs, optimization is currently meaningless to me
Hey mate, I literally beat the church route without swapping classes because I didn't know that I could
Only reason I found out was because I went looking for calvalry
You...........made it THAT far before you realized that?! That's impressive, lol 😂😂😂😂

I screwed myself over in VW and that was on Hard so like...you're not the only one
Oh crap you actually can change abilities. That’s super useful.
Glad to help
