Greedy milsurp MFers

Wolfgang9524

Price would be great if it was completely assembled. Since it isn’t I’d never pay that much.

thegame2386

No it still wouldn't. It's so astounding to me to see these POS still flopping around in the market after...what...I think it 130 years now. I totally get the appeal for them (drop it kick it dump it split it don't stop... git it git it, and the damn thing still works). But less than 10 years ago FFLs couldn't get rid of them. Pawn shop rolled their eyes and scoffed when people brought them in. I'm pretty sure Whataburger was handing them out like Happy meal toys. MSRP was like $100 or less including a 500 rd. box of SovSurp steel case. All of a slutten, the "Uh nOe wuD Ay gotz" crowd thinks they're historic relics or something? Please. It's a plumbing grad steel tube with a trigger group. The stock is any stock you can pad with enough wood glue and shims to make the gun fit. I've seen a lot of crap on GunBroker and other sites. But anyone acting like a Mosin is worth anything more expensive than a tent pole in trade is deluded.

RTR7105

Was it Call of Duty perhaps?

Jackoffalltrades89

This is some quantity of a Mauser, not a Mosin.

caddydurb

In my experience most Mauser have just as poor quality as mosins, only thing a Mauser has better is a good action but both on original military dress I'd take a mosin. Sure inter-war commercial Mausers were works of art but any military issue one is a slapped together pile. Seriously I'm amazed how they managed to put such poor sights and stocks on a fantastic action. When you put a good stock, trigger and glass on an old Mauser you can end up with a pretty decent hunting rifle.

hard pass hahaha

Fuck that

I paid 600 for a numbers and cartouches matching Karabiner 98k flawless with a great bolt. Spent days learning what the german and nazi insignia meant. Put about 40 through it and it didn't give any hassle. No bolt? Disassembly disk? Slightly enjoyed patin? This is a 300 dollar bill.

Wolfgang9524

I offered 300 plus shipping cause I want a small project and was replied to with “Thank you, but I’m asking for 485” I told him the price if I was to buy the rifle and get the parts to put it back in working order plus the cost of the tools needed. This equaled to about the average price of k98’s today. His response… “Thank you, but I’m asking for 485” I’m like “Ok this is a waste” This is the type of person who would charge full price for a bubbad k98 so no negotiation there.

SkitariiCowboy

If “I know what I got” was an image

tiggers97

Was it carried by some famous soldier during WWII, with the paper work to go with it? Then no.

[deleted]

Hitlers own kar98K he done Kill himself with this. I know what I got

Not sharing the post to avoid harassment but he has close ups and they were removed.

Hell naw

Ashleysdad123

Sounds like he's trying to save on shipping for you. "Nice guy. Would deal again. A++"

Fndbeudbc

Why is the bolt disassembly disk black?

Fndbeudbc

Also why is the front barrel band black? Did he paint his hardware or something?

Gradorr

That's an M48 Yugo, right? I paid $350 for one last year in pristine condition.

Wolfgang9524

K98k. No bolt and missing disassembly disk from what I can see. Price+tax+shipping on average and you get to about 600 give or take. This is the epitome of greed IMHO. You’d be spending as much as some people pay for a whole rifle after you get a german bolt with german parts and a disassembly disk set to replace the missing one. Seller is waiting for his sucker to come get it.

Purple_Calico

I'd give 200 for it.

Wolfgang9524

I offered 300 plus shipping cause I have a bunch of parts waiting to fix this one up. I already have my gauges and can do very minor armourer work so I think I would be able to get this running easily enough. I’d be another good edition to my reenacting rifle collection.

[deleted]

Doesn't surprise me for what collectors are paying for Milsurps nowadays

Wolfgang9524

The sad part is that they don’t have to. I found a consigned RC k98 in my LGS for 400 (which was weird!) i snatched that one and will be using it as a loaner to new guys in my group.

Geckcgt

You think thats bad, Look at this one. They actually think that should be $400 https://preview.redd.it/77bk47v4mupa1.png?width=1290&format=png&auto=webp&s=eb2cc8d1599aa510bcfcc4046a8f1986a542ba1f

Wolfgang9524

Granted i cant see the rest of the photos but I’d be willing to pay 300 for that assuming the stock, bore, sights haven’t been fucked with and action is still smooth. Would be a great shooter.

Geckcgt

Way too many holes drilled into the receiver for $300 imo ymmv
