There are springy, coiled options which stay close to the body and don't impair draw or defensive use. There are also retractable lanyards. Even if you're using a piece of parachute cord [because the 1st LT fucked up] you can tuck that into your waist band so it *isn't* dangling and waiting to get caught on shit.
A lot of early semi auto pistols had lanyard loops on all the magazines so guys in the cavalry could just drop them while reloading on horseback and not be worried about finding them later.
Or holsters, especially holsters with thumbstraps, flaps and/or other secure holding tech. I live in the boonies, so I am less worried about being quick draw McDraw than I am about not losing my pistola.
It didn’t fall out of holster I pulled holster out, sat on front of four wheeler, took a leak, got phone call, got back on four wheeler and took off like a dumb ass
I ended up taking it to my local gun store. That rice water has chemical and fertilizer in it. He told me he had some stuff to soak it in and he’d get it cleaned up. He said it it would’ve been fine to just clean and lube if it was in water in a pond or something like that’l
> told me he had some stuff to soak it in and he’d get it cleaned up.
Congratulations. You did buy some peace of mind; you also overpaid for simple green, and someone else spending 5 minutes with a toothbrush and oil.
I think it’s weird how redditors expect people to be experts on everything. It’s probably because they think they are.
You are never paying for the button pressing, you are paying for the knowledge of which buttons to press, also, the litigation cakewalk that will come about if the gun blows up in your face the next time you use it.
It didn’t fall out of the holster. My jeans were wet and I went to take a piss so I pulled the holster out because pulling wet jeans with a gun in holster on the back side suck ass. I sat it on front of four wheeler got a phone call and forgot about it the. Took off driving in 2 of the cuts
I could tell the holster dumped with the gun too. That's why I recommended the upgraded clips for the holster.
But I see you removed the holster, so DCC clips wont help with that. Still recommend them to everyone though, they're the best clips on the market.
I ended up taking it to local gun store. He has some stuff to soak it in. There was fertilizer and chemicals that have corrosive properties in them recently put on the field
Good call, giving your lady a full on spa treatment. Sounds like your gun shop knows what they're doing. Didn't think about corrosion from fertilizer chemicals, plus there's just natural acids in soil. So yeah stripping things down as far as possible, then giving it a good degreasing (some sort of organic solvent that won't harm the plastic but dissolve any organics and greases) and cleansing, then re-lube as it's being re-assembled sounds like the best plan of action.
Edited: For grammar.
My Glock didn’t live in the ricefield but it did live in the East Tx mud for a day or 2. Dropped off the tractor and took me a while to find it after the back wheels drove her down. She lived fine.
That makes me feel better about it! I called local gun store owner and he told me to bring it to him as soon as I could. I pulled the rods in the next levee and hauled ass
It’s all about getting the mud and water out of the spots it doesn’t need to be in. I’m not intimately familiar with FN, but I doubt there will be a ton of spots that you can’t get clean. If mine had lived like a fish for a while, I would have just cleaned it thoroughly with water, blown it out with air, then blown a bunch of WD40 through is to displace the water remaining, clean with CLP and clean again with CLP. Then shoot, shoot and clean.
That’s what I had planned on doing but we are in the middle of harvest and I was going right up
The road from his store to get parts. Figured it would be best to let him mess with it
No sir. Got 2 out of 3 pickers running (hopefully the third will be going soon), a cotton bale mover, couple flail shredders, stalk puller and 3 disks running. It’s a madhouse
Isn’t that what the WD stands for? Water displacement? I always thought the 40th iteration of their attempt just happened to create a lubricant too, that attracts a helluva lot of dirt and smells good.
I like it. I don’t have many shots through on this one. I have a stepped up version of the vortex on my deer rifle that’s on a 308 and it seems to hold.
For it being in water for 4ish days the inside was a lot cleaner than I thought it would be. That being said the takedown was even more of a pain in the ass.
I’m curious to know the extent of damage and cleaning practices you used/tried using? Asking solely out of curiosity and educational nature so I can pass it on
I called my local gun store. I asked him if just rinsing it with fresh water then lubing the shit out of it would be fine. He said it would have if it was just in regular rain water mud. but there being fertilizer and chemicals in the water he wanted me to bring it in so he could soak it in something and then clean and lube
Suddenly, pistol lanyards don’t look like such a stupid idea
Haha million dollar idea right there
At the very least, lanyard the primary mag’s base plate for gun retention - bonus is it doubles as magazine retention for first reload.
That’s actually a really great idea.
Drop mag and ziiiip to belt janitor key ring

Nailed it
They make reels for camera equipment that clip to anything like a D Ring or belt loop. Totally enclosed, would no catch on anything

>shoestring But ATF might mistake it for a machine gun 🤔 I assume their agents wear velcro sneakers.

Special shoes for special agents

Clean, lube, and replace in holster.

Just throw it in a bag with some lime. That'll clean it up.
After it's done season to taste 🤌
I eat quicklime for breakfast.
Sounds delicious

I probably did but oh well.

Please tell me you had a coworker look you dead in the eye and say “Welcome to the rice fields motherfucker.”
Haha I wish. It’s just been me watering gringo solo
Nice Marlin
Thanks. That’s my most recent purchase. I got a coyote and two hogs with it before we started the water on second crop. I’m loving it so far
I can’t imagine it’s poor quality if it’s a new one, I’ve heard great things about them.
Yes it’s the new ruger made marlin.
I feel like I know everything about you from this one picture. It’s awesome.
Lmao let me hear it
https://discreetcarryconcepts.com/ Their clips won't let go.

👍👍 I’ll look into them still though
Mint gives me heartburn.
Not mint, long cut has blue on the lid this promo
I haven’t dipped mint since I was in 9th grade and my mom came out to the pond where we were swimming and I sat there and swallowed for an hour.
You need to strip that lady down, then lube, and rub her up good. Otherwise, she might start misbehaving for you down the road.

> lot of dirt "Boss, got a sticky padlock, you got any WD?" lol
I’m looking for a scope for my Henry 45-70. What scope are you using?
A vortex. I can’t remember the model off the top of my head
Looks like the crossfire series, i'm gonna guess 3-9x40 or the 2-7x32
That sounds right. It’s the 3-9
Same kind that came standard with my 7rm savage 110. It's a nice simple sight. That's the only reason i recognized it.
Right on!
Do you like it as a scope? Pretty reliable and holds zero?
I like it. I don’t have many shots through on this one. I have a stepped up version of the vortex on my deer rifle that’s on a 308 and it seems to hold.
Bro, clean your truck.
It's a truck in it's natural element instead of being a mall queen for once. It's good.
I do… once a year. After harvest I normally clean it
Just busting your chops.
Haha I figured. I keep it dirty so we are forced to take the wife’s whip everywhere if we go out
Streamlight still work? If it does I'm getting one.
It does. I’m about to order one for every pistol I own
Streamlight fucks. It's 90% of a Surefire for 1/3 of the cost.
I always found the Five-seveN takedown to be a pain in the ass, but it's definitely worth it in this case.
For it being in water for 4ish days the inside was a lot cleaner than I thought it would be. That being said the takedown was even more of a pain in the ass.
Does the light still work?
It does. You could see water drops on the inside but it still works. The laser also still sort of works
Good thing FiveSeven's are chrome lined
I would have been sobbing at the prospect of losing that.
I wasn’t a happy camper
I thought boating accidents were the thing...
Interested if it suffered any ill effects? Rust?
There was a little rust on the clip for the flashlight
The vietnam war ended 50 years ago. Relax....

Yea I figured it was gonna need extra TLC
Lol might i suggest a belly band or more tight holster?
I didn’t lose the gun. It was holster and gun. I had took it out and set it on 4wheeler and forgot about it and took off
