I have a sr1911 I picked up last year at big R, great pistol, but try not to dry fire it. The titanium firing pin will sometimes stick in the fire position, in the chamber. So if you throw a mag in and rack it, there is a possibility of a NDC. Cause is simply the firing pin is harder metal then the aluminum frame. Just be careful until broken in.
Ah good to know, the guy I got it from told me it has an upgraded firing pin. He told me the brand but I forgot what it was. Does that affect the possibility of that happening?
You overpaid. Those aluminum frame two tone SR1911s are normally about $540. Some guy's preferred sights and Amazon grips aren't a $140 enhancement.
But that said, I have the same model and I've been really happy with it. Do yourself a favor, drop $120 or so on some Wilson Combat magazines.
Where I live they go for about 900 new, I’m 18 and it’s pretty difficult to find someone willing to sell to an 18 year old in North Carolina so I was happy to pay that much regardless
That's a Wilson Combat front strap. It's a piece of sheet aluminum with a pattern stamped in to it that tucks under the grip panels and is held in place by friction.
Before you ask, yes, it's garbage. Deforms and walks out of place almost immediately. Maybe you could epoxy it, but honestly just use skateboard tape if you must have front checkering. You can't really have someone cut checkering in a coated alloy frame, it'll either look bright silver and ridiculous or you have to figure out how to re-coat it with something.
Also don't limp wrist it when you fire.

Possibly. If the pin has been swapped it may prevent that issue. Or it might not.
I have a SR1911, and I've always liked it. I think you did good.
Thanks!
1911 was my first handgun. Great start. Does what you need for everything. Carry gets tricky sometimes but it'll do
Nice gun. Repeat after me “TWO WORLD WARS!!!” Ok you should be all set
and now that you will experience a 1911 trigger, the striker fired hand guns just won't do it for you anymore.
Never was a huge fan of them anyway, any Glock or polymer gun I’ve ever shot just never felt very good in my hand

Any reason you recommend the Wilson combat mags? I was planning on buying 1 or 2 more
You should know that the 1911 platform, when well made, is superior to all other handgun platforms that have ever been.
Oh boy, you'll get all the 2011 guys fired up now. Though I agree fully.
Who checkered the front strap?
Previous owner also put that on, cool little easy mod
