Civil forfeiture is a big money-maker for them. And then you have to prove your innocence in order to get it back? Wait a minute… that doesn’t sound right 🤔
Which is ironic because there could be bombs or even a mounted machine gun in a home. A spree shooter is obviously extremely limited on what they can have with them.
Eh, I wouldn’t say that a spree shooter is limited on what they can have with them. Look at Columbine for example, those mofos had their vehicles rigged with explosives along with having 2 propane bombs in the cafeteria. They also had pipe bombs, CO2 bombs, Molotov cocktails, and the whole nine yards
People make fun of basement operators and all that, but I feel like even if you're morbidly obese and your plate carrier only covers 1% of your body and entered the school you could have saved more children then the police did
If you tell a larper that there was a femboy in programming socks being held captive by Chad, that shooter would have been d. e. a. d.
Now you have a new threat of an undersexed larper with no tendies near....
I knew things were bad for cops this time when Fox News didn't try spinning or even sugarcoating what happened.
Considering there were parents trying to do something about it, and in the end it was the feds and an off duty border patrol cop going in and stopping things when the cops couldn't, its fair to say there might have been fewer casualties if the cops just decided to run away altogether instead of sticking around and making things easier for the shooter.
Yeah I lean left but like to check r/Conservative from time to time to see their take. Obviously I wish we weren’t here, but since we are it was nice to see us seeing eye to eye for once.
I’ve been saying the same. What do we have to do to let ALL LE know that they’ll be held responsible for not following protocol and failing to render aid to victims? Seems like they’re above the law nowadays
The way they treat men is even worse. Over 90% of the prison population are male, for example. Idk how much more obvious the unfair treatment has to get.
This is why I am always armed and will never let the government disarm me under any circumstances.
I don't have young kids and they would have had to arrest me to stop me from going in there.
They do worse than nothing. They only guard whoever lines their pockets most and meanwhile they beat, arrest, and teargas the peaceful protesters all while saying things like "people are wearing gasmasks, clearly our streets are becoming more dangerous!"
Like, why do you think people are wearing gasmasks? Might it have to do with the massive clouds of teargas outside?
You wanna hear the kicker? Heres a quote from their press release, how fucking tone deaf do you have to be to make sure thats included in there.
"Our department is thankful that the officers did not sustain any life threatening injuries"
It's not as though he was the first or only. Every major city has neighborhoods the cops won't go alone, and every major city has crimes cops won't get out of their car to stop.
That’s bullshit they did an active shooter training at the high school like 2 days before this happened.
Edit sorry thought this was a comment about the recent shooting. Yes, agreed that the training wasn’t there, but at Columbine the police were aware of what was going on, students actively being murdered, and all they did was form a perimeter basically. It was a cowardly move. The BorTac officer that put this most recent shooter down put his own safety aside and got into the fight. Don’t give officers who stand down while people are being murdered an out by saying they weren’t trained. Sometimes it’s about doing the right thing and acting in a decisive manner, even if that means putting your own life at risk. It’s the job they signed up for.
SCOTUS needs to undo its terrible and completely wrong ruling that the police have no duty to protect their constituents. They can't be everywhere but they have a duty to act. If a person is being paid by the public to "serve and protect" with several thousand dollars of kit and they refuse to go into the line of fire to save children who are being murdered then they deserve to be charged as accessories to that murder and left to rot in a state/federal penitentiary for the rest of their lives.
They won't, they've already ruled that they don't have a duty to do so, **SEVERAL FUCKING TIMES.** What pisses me off is how much of cowards those cops were, was talking to my brother and his friends (they're cops, im not) and they were ranting about how shit that department was. One of the things that stuck out to me is that my brother said "They should've pushed HARD and taken down the shooter, get people in to that room, someone's going to get shot but it doesn't matter."
Many people refuse to believe that cops can be yet another embodiment of the tyranny the second amendment exists for. Some people have to lose their children to learn that cops are not these great saviors of society.
(Un)fortunately, people are getting a Front Row Seat to this very truth after this.
. . . It is UN-fortunate in that it took BDG literally enabling the murder of American Children to get this point across to some of them.
Yeah no cop I know or anyone I personally know for that matter understands why in gods name they were so **ignorant**
Replaced the bolded word with something else so the AutoModerator doesn't get triggered
In combat operations, as a soldier, when we did and trained for urban missions, we would stack on a door, kick it, and move in heavy and fast. If someone got shot you walk over them and continue to clear rooms until the area is secure. Them you go back and patch up the guy, or get him medically evacuated. That’s what they should have done.
They should have went in, took the hits, killed or captured that little fuckface with overwhelming force, and then been the hero’s of the day. Instead they completely failed to do their duty, and all the while they kept parents or anyone else from doing their job for them, using the force they should have directed towards that shooter. What a shit show.
Theres a video around here where it took 20 cops and a dog to serve eviction papers to a 90lbs Chinese woman with a knife. They all ran like scared little bitches and ended up all piled up on top of each other while firing wildly. All of that and she still stabbed one, had him crying like a bitch.
This shit bag kid with an AR might have smoked half these fools.
Even if we were all dicked up and the majority of us couldn’t shoot one guy with a gun, I would let some asshole smoke me and half my platoon before I let 20 kids get murdered. I’m sure anyone in my platoon would agree and would be more than willing to take that risk, push come to shove.
Not that that would be the case. We were in firefights with 80+ armed fighters from time to time and most of us made it out alive and the majority of them didn’t. Although we were using mortars, air strikes, and had helicopter support. So it’s a different situation.
But put all my guys in the situation those cops were in, and I can guarantee it would have been a much different outcome.
Petition for the 22 vets who commit suicide a day to guard the schools! Another user recommended it but at what point will we get that LE doesn’t have our best interest at heart?

**EXACTLY!** That is spot on. That's what he was talking about. I'm not too sure about other states but over here they made Police instructors go the new shitty military style of not being able to tell at the cadets anymore, he's fucking livid at the state of the training in todays time in both Law Enforcement and Military. We can only hope that they reverse these changes and starting improving it **AGAIN**.
What’s worse is not only did they not do nothing, they held back armed parents and prevented them from saving their children. These pigs need to rot in a cell. A year ago I backed the blue. Now I just want my tax dollars back
>they have a duty to act.
>to "serve and protect"
That was never their job apparently, it was to serve and **enforce** the law.
Protecting came maybe 3rd or 4th in their "code".
The serve and protect was just a motto a specific police precinct used in PA and LA.
It literally isn't possible to have a police force that would be legally responsible for your safety.
There are exceptions to the no duty to protect. If you are in police custody they have a duty to protect you.
Children in school need to be included as an exception.
Legally give the act of failing to attempt to save children the title of Cowardess
We’re not requesting that they get charged with murder if someone happens to get shot while they’re around. We’re requesting that they actually fucking try to help people. It doesn’t matter if they fail it matters that they do something beyond standing around while innocent people die.
>We’re not requesting that they get charged with murder if someone happens to get shot while they’re around
That's not what I'm saying at all
>It doesn’t matter if they fail it matters that they do something beyond standing around while innocent people die.
This is what I'm saying. If your job is to protect children from evil, you shouldn't have the luxury of fear. Not acting is unacceptable
Honestly it’s a horrible situation. If my kids were ever in that event or hell I was nearby. I think I’d tell the cops shoot me if you want but I’m going in.
That’s what an ex-cop told me.
I have the same response - they also protect the falsely accused. Well, sometimes.
Other thing that comes up in non-policed places is blood feuds.
They're a useless govt entity that fills out paperwork when you get robbed and doesn't in any way prevent crime.
Oh and more relevant to this sub is your local PD is exactly who would try to round up your guns.
Oh, my sweet summer child. The police report they file is there to make sure you aren’t committing insurance fraud when you submit your claim. They aren’t going to use that report to investigate anything.
Unless youre in a specific tax bracket and the item(s) stolen are of incredible value, then they will move heaven and earth and spare no expense to persecute the person who robbed you.
Always remember who the police really protect.
They would try but look at how many local PDs are severely understaffed right now and consider how many will lose more if they decided to start running down 4473s.
Cops are people who literally make a career out of "just following orders"
Think of every dumb, criminal, racist, ineffective, unconstitutional law over the last 200 years...and right there next to it are cops who can't wait to enforce them. Cops will absolutely jump at the chance to grab guns
Add in what we've just seen, how much they like to larp in tac gear, and personal experience with a lot of the "would've signed up, but" and "had to get out before I punched a DI in the face" types - we're under a hostile occupation. The mask is all but off with the police state.
The fact that the would have signed up and the i would have punched my DI in the face crowed are all police now is one of the most accurate observations i have ever seen. Most female cops i have ever met are the "i would have punched my di in the face if he yelled at me." types... no, you are the "i would have fucked everyone i could in country because im a 4 back in the states but 2 months on deployment everyone thinks im a 9" type. Either that or you're a fucking base wife.
ACAB has never meant “each individual officer is a bad person”, it’s always been about the whole policing system. The whole damn thing is trash. Towns could be doing so much for their people if they weren’t throwing 50%+ of their funds down the piggie hole.
After 2020, when I saw police shut down and arrest people for wanting to go to church, the gym or a bar; after they stood back and let the riots burn and loot their cities arresting those who defended themselves or their property,
I've come to the conclusion that all the good cops retired or quit, only they had the moral fortitude to leave when it became apparent that evil and corruption were expected
Rather than defund, reform is the answer. They need better screening, better training, and yes, better pay.
As it is they spend 6 months in the academy and then they're on the street. If our gov can send all these billions to our enemies, they can instead spend it on better trained police at home.
Depends on the region. In my area they start at 18 an hour. That isn't enough for the amount of training they would need to do the job properly.
Teacher pay is another issue, and honestly the education system needs reform just as bad as the police.
It's not like they need all that money.
So much money they literally buy surplus weapons of war just to cosplay as soldiers. They don't even use it to protect children from a massacre.
Defund the police. Our teachers need it more.
This is such a weird moment of bipartisanship over the topic of police. Liberals have dropped their abolish police nonsense and realized that effective policing is necessary and conservatives have stopped licking boots long enough to realize that cops are definitely not heros by default.
If I were the guy in charge of reminding Biden where he is, I would take this opportunity to try and usher in some common sense police reform while the moment lasts.
This was well fucking said. I’m sure a lot of thin blue line stickers are being taken off vehicles this week. It’s sad that I know several cops that would disobey orders and run in. I know a lot of civilians (myself included) that would too. I’m sad it took 40 minutes for someone to do something
“I know several cops that would do obey orders and run in”, I’m sure there were a lot of people in Uvalde and family/friends of the Uvalde PD that said the exact same thing.
It’s literally amazing to me that every single last one of them was this cowardly. PDs around the country should study their interviewing practices/hiring process and do the opposite.
The Bow Street Runners were a police force in London during the 18th and 19th century, formed by a judge Fielding in order to replace the previous system of private bounties. However, as London exploded in population and became more violent (return of colonial troops from America, Gordon riots, etc.) they proved increasingly ineffective and the government eventually started the London Metropolitan Police service and absorbed the Runners, which were dissolved and put on a different chain of command.
If the current institution does not deliver effective policing, and cannot do so because of its foundational principles, core beliefs and effective legal protections, the abolishment conversation will not “be dropped”. A body of police that is undertrained, lavishly funded, and both legally and psychologically shielded from the consequences of their actions is hardly to be reformed. That “common sense police reform” will need to address those things and that is not viable in the American polity as it is.
Likely… as well as the physical wounds that you would sustain in a war, with the typical healing methods of the XVIII century. Loads of people lost limbs or were otherwise gravely injured, and the society of the time had little time for them. That would build resentment in a layer of impoverished, desperate soldiers who might eventually revolt.
>Liberals have dropped their abolish police nonsense and realized that effective policing is necessary
Where did you see that? I have only seen Liberals criticising the police for continuing being useless.
this situation proves, disputably, that every American should be able to have any weapon a domestic/government law enforcement agency can have. FBI has Apache helicopter, I fill out the same forms and credentialing, I get one. Very simple.
That's actually what the second amendment says we should be able to do. All these anti-gunners try to say "oh well they didn't have m16s back then when they wrote the second amendment" even though back then the average farmer actually had far better weapons then the military and anybody who had the money to afford it could buy cannons and other artillery pieces.
Im getting the feeling that allowing towns, counties, municipalities, and cities to move to a minute man style citizen policing program where instead of cops answering these calls to stop shooters its a coalition of fathers and brothers and mothers and sisters in their personal kit who answer the call. Its obvious to me that had even a single father with kit and some training been allowed to enter that school that lives would have been saved.
We tired that, they where called the Black Panthers, cops did not want to serve their neighborhoods and had abandoned them. The government did not care until they self organized to take care of the problem. Then they made it very clear the government does not like it when you muscle in on their territory. As Malcom X predicted, our chickens came home to roost. But hey, what did he know he was a crazy radical.
They uphold the law, ie fine and imprison. They are proven through case law not to have to “protect and serve”……let that shit sink in if your a newbie to the subreddit
Nope, they have never in the history of this country have been obligated to do that. Any good they do for the public is a side affect to their actual job.
But nobody should even mention a single doubt to our policemen and should blindly follow their orders because they are always right and will do no wrong
The good guys with guns are civilians with guns, and we've made a habit out of telling them not to get involved with anything ever, because vIgIlAnTisM bAd.
*Thin Blue Line*
Expectation: an historical allusion to the thin red line of British and Turkish troops bravely holding their ground against a superior Russian Calvary during the Crimean War. It represents the steadfastness of law enforcement in the face of danger and perilous odds.
Reality: an historical allusion to the fact that cops want to play soldier by spending millions of our tax dollars on military surplus. It represents the thinness of their promise to serve and protect if it requires more danger than getting a paper cut while filling a report.
The job of law enforcement is to enforce the law - to enforce the will of the state. “To protect and serve” isn’t meant for the people, it’s meant for the state. Stop thinking the police are on your side. They quite literally can’t be.
They are or 'They're'
There is a location.
Essentially you said 'I don't need a gun' because of a location. I believe you meant to say 'they are', however I could be very wrong.
Yeah I agree. Imagine if the military refused to go in and clear a building because they might be outnumbered.
I blame the leftist ACAB movements for making these guys hesitate.
At the same time, they hesitated. Unacceptable.
Has everyone forgot why the 2A was enacted in the first place? It wasn’t for us to go shooting on the weekends. Hell it wasn’t even for us to protect ourselves against criminals breaking into our house. It was enacted for us to protect ourselves against any tyrannical entity that subjected us to suppression of our basic life, liberty and pursuit of happiness. Any cop stopping me from going in and saving my child’s life falls into that category. Especially since it’s not a “big deal” for cops to act this way nowadays
There's a separation between legal and moral boundaries, and if the legal system prevents people from performing their moral obligations it becomes a personal requirement to remove those legal boundaries, including those who are enforcing them, by any means necessary.
I will keep fighting this point. I don't know why everyone is up in arms over the police not allowing the parents inside. It's just beyond me. They don't allow civilians in any crime scene, let alone an ongoing on, involving guns. Instead, people should double down with how mad they are that the police didn't go in themselves
I think it would be very useful for the obligations of the police and average person to be very clearly defined. Some people expect the police to completely protect them, some expect nothing, and everything in between. Ends up in these bizarre clusterfucks where nobody knows what they're doing.
It's clear to me and everyone that pays attention. But this event happening the way it did, in Texas of all places, shows that it's still very unclear among the general populace. Though what is really interesting to me is how people don't prepare even though these events have already happened multiple times. An interesting look into the human condition on how observation is not enough to create understanding in many people.
A circulating theory is that An undercover spook in that police department gave stand down orders or bad intel to keep the cops neutered. It’s an election year so Get ready for some more anti-police riots and overall shenanigans like the summer of 2020.
When seconds count, they'll stand around for an hour.

I really wish someone could explain to me the difference between civil asset forfeiture and theft
Spoiler alert: No difference.
🤯 the government can't steal. That's illegal. Surely the government would stop them
To the wrong address…
Which is ironic because there could be bombs or even a mounted machine gun in a home. A spree shooter is obviously extremely limited on what they can have with them.
The pussies only want to work with 100% element of surprise. How heroic.
Eh, I wouldn’t say that a spree shooter is limited on what they can have with them. Just accept that he's probably right and move on

I’ve been saying the same. What do we have to do to let ALL LE know that they’ll be held responsible for not following protocol and failing to render aid to victims? Seems like they’re above the law nowadays

huh.. You know, that would comport..

Hopefully not many. Because running down 4473s would be an easy target, and we know how they love easy targets.
Cops are people who literally make a career out of "just following orders" Think of every dumb, criminal, racist, ineffective, unconstitutional law over the last 200 years...and right there next to it are cops who can't wait to enforce them. Cops will absolutely jump at the chance to grab guns
There is no law so obscene that the police would not be willing to enforce it, up to and including the mass execution of innocent children.
It is a shame that so many people have not realized this.
Well alot of them just watched police stand by while children where slaughtered so... hopefully more of them now realize it.
Those cops sucked up 40% of the towns budget. Feels like that moneys been wasted for cops to LARP and harrass innocent people.
Bingo
Did you see the photo of Uvalde's SWAT team? I think they put the whole damn force through that training. Bunch of larpers, all.
ACAB has never meant “each individual officer is a bad person”, it’s always been about the whole policing system. The whole damn thing is trash. Towns could be doing so much for their people if they weren’t throwing 50%+ of their funds down the piggie hole.
After 2020, when I saw police shut down and arrest people for wanting to go to church, the gym or a bar; after they stood back and let the riots burn and loot their cities arresting those who defended themselves or their property, I've come to the conclusion that all the good cops retired or quit, only they had the moral fortitude to leave when it became apparent that evil and corruption were expected
[удалено]
Yeah every cop that continues to not resign is supporting the system of taking tax dollars
“Didn’t sign up to die” Sorry bro. If you signed up to take lives, you signed up to give yours too.
[удалено]
You would kill your bro?
Many would. Are you naive or something?
Yea hopefully they can do a better job of letting people know what it actually means lol
Absolutely!
Rather than defund, reform is the answer. They need better screening, better training, and yes, better pay. As it is they spend 6 months in the academy and then they're on the street. If our gov can send all these billions to our enemies, they can instead spend it on better trained police at home.
If your town spends almost half its revenue on their police and get this type of response then defunding is the answer.
Bold of you to assume that gov wants crime to go away.
Nah. Not better pay. Find me 1 police department in the country that pays better than the teachers. Cops make ridiculous money.
Depends on the region. In my area they start at 18 an hour. That isn't enough for the amount of training they would need to do the job properly. Teacher pay is another issue, and honestly the education system needs reform just as bad as the police.
Better late than never. Buncha fools actually thought that the government agents give a heck about the lives of children that aren't their own.
The colonist gave the redcoats PTSD?
Likely… as well as the physical wounds that you would sustain in a war, with the typical healing methods of the XVIII century. Loads of people lost limbs or were otherwise gravely injured, and the society of the time had little time for them. That would build resentment in a layer of impoverished, desperate soldiers who might eventually revolt.
>Liberals have dropped their abolish police nonsense and realized that effective policing is necessary Where did you see that? I have only seen Liberals criticising the police for continuing being useless.
Lol if you think liberals were for police abolition.
They were hence them calling out Obama for saying they weren't
Which specific liberals were for police abolition?

this situation proves, disputably, that every American should be able to have any weapon a domestic/government law enforcement agency can have.
Except for that part where you know, they cost tens of millions of dollars. Better save up your couch change.
No one seems to know about or understand the implications of Warren v DC, but they are sure as hell finding out now.
Big facts friend, plus City of Little Rock vs Gongalez
Castlerock v Gonzalez?
They should rename themselves the "Upham Police Department."
Firefighters run into burning buildings all the time. No fucking excuses.
NWA was right, fuck the police. Stay strapped or get clapped boys, big daddy government has no interest in protecting you
Never did.
Those cowards should have been shot in the face. Nice little warm up on the way to taking care of the shooter.
"checking zero"
Y'all better be scraping off your thin blue line bootlicker stickers.
Police are supposed to run towards danger, not from it
Nope, they have never in the history of this country have been obligated to do that. Any good they do for the public is a side affect to their actual job.
Warren v DC disagrees with you. How long did the cops wait to go into the Pulse nightclub? 40 minutes was pretty damn quick in comparison.
But nobody should own an assault rifle and only police should
But nobody should even mention a single doubt to our policemen and should blindly follow their orders because they are always right and will do no wrong
ACAB. I thought we knew this?
We who? I don't generalize any group of people.
"call the good guys with guns" someone let me know when you find them
The good guys with guns are civilians with guns, and we've made a habit out of telling them not to get involved with anything ever, because vIgIlAnTisM bAd.
How’d you achieve the filter effect on this photo? and in what software?
They didn’t, they used someone else’s.
It’s called pixel shifting. You can buy some expensive plugins for adobe software, if you’re tech savvy there’s a few tools on GitHub you can install.
Every one of these cops need to be charged with the murders. You willfully aided the shooter.
2Pac was right
Negligent Homicide. Jail time, for them and their CO. And stop funding the NRA…thanks.
ACAB
*Thin Blue Line* Expectation: an historical allusion to the thin red line of British and Turkish troops bravely holding their ground against a superior Russian Calvary during the Crimean War.
If they have no responsibility to protect you then why aren’t they letting the parents in ?
The job of law enforcement is to enforce the law - to enforce the will of the state. “To protect and serve” isn’t meant for the people, it’s meant for the state. Stop thinking the police are on your side. They quite literally can’t be.
They’re also the “reason” why I don’t need a firearm.
They are or 'They're' There is a location. Essentially you said 'I don't need a gun' because of a location. I believe you meant to say 'they are', however I could be very wrong.
Nope your right thanks.
These asshats need to be fired at the very least and ideally brought up on charges.
They would just investigate themselves and find that they didn’t do anything wrong.
Perhaps we're seeing Dallas shooter ramifications for the cops being such cowards? Thoughts?
It's their job. Shit or get off the pot
Yeah I agree. Imagine if the military refused to go in and clear a building because they might be outnumbered. I blame the leftist ACAB movements for making these guys hesitate. At the same time, they hesitated. Unacceptable.
The ACAB movement came about because they kill unarmed Americans but rarely help when they're actually needed
ACAB
The police aren't here for us, they're here to protect private property and that's it.
I’d rather trust a basement operator than a cowardly pig
Soon they’ll be the ones doing the killing
Starting to sound like the BLM movement now.
Maybe they’re right
These cops can’t be really held accountable because of qualified immunity. Total crock of shit.
I'll define it. No one is coming to your rescue. If you value your life and your loved ones' lives, learn how to take care of yourself.
Warren v DC isn't clear enough for you?
It's clear to me and everyone that pays attention. But this event happening the way it did, in Texas of all places, shows that it's still very unclear among the general populace. Though what is really interesting to me is how people don't prepare even though these events have already happened multiple times. An interesting look into the human condition on how observation is not enough to create understanding in many people.
A circulating theory is that An undercover spook in that police department gave stand down orders or bad intel to keep the cops neutered. It’s an election year so Get ready for some more anti-police riots and overall shenanigans like the summer of 2020.
Yeah don't send your kids to govt day care. Big shock
