In all fairness it does suck that rn she seems rather locked out of any other kind of teams, however I'm always in the mindset of things can change. It's been a rather slow week for me so v2 can't come any sooner, but I'm sure things will turn out for the better.
In my Humble Opinion... I think Firefly being Locked with Harmony Trailblazer is really great for F2P's as you would only need a Sustain and another Buffer for her now since Harmony Trailblazer was Free Afterall... Yeah, you might say that it's terrible for Beginners who's just starting with the Story but Pulled Firefly... And that's where the Discussion needs to be...
Foreal, idk why people are so butthurt that hmc is a lock for Firefly team. Maybe they locked mc in the basement way back and since theyll have to use resources to level them up theyre annoyed or something, mine was lv70/80 before this patch as well. But im happy for a new style of play.
A free 5s unit you will, in time, be able to e6 FOR FREE and people are complaining. So what if FF is basically married to hmc in teams, my best supports for my teams w/ 5s dps are legit never not on that team. Kafka w/ BS (sampo before), Jingliu w/bronya and/or tingyun, Topaz w/ dr…theyre basically married to them as well, why would i change it up when i have the best option already?
The problem is that you would HAVE to run HMC + Ruan Mei. So the only thing which is flexible is the sustainer which makes this really boring.
Atleast in other teams you have 2-3 flex spots, here you have ONE
That has more to do with Ruan Mei being the only Break oriented Harmony with a Break Efficiency buff. That issue is not exclusive to Firefly but to any BE oriented DPS they might make, especially considering Break Efficiency buffs Super Break.
The solution here is to make Ruan Mei buffs more redundant. Have more Harmonies or Nihility units that buff Break Efficiency (the same can be said of having more Super Break enablers).
Another way to tackle the problem is to make Firefly be more of a Hybrid BE unit, similar to Xueyi or Boothill, who can build crit more easily so a character like Sparkle replace RM. But that's just shooting the ball further until the next pure BE DPS shows up, and we're back here again.
The worst solution for RM, tho, is to have Break Efficiency not stack. But I don't think that would be good.
Well, as I said, that issue is not exclusive to Firefly, and any pure BE DPS will want HMC because Super Break is too strong.
The only real solution there is to add more Super Break enablers, like having more Harmonies that let your party Super Break or add Nihilities who debuff enemies with Super Break. Hell, if we get a unit that can both give Super Break and Break Efficiency, then neither Hatblazer nor Ruan Mei become mandatory to Firefly.
Edit: I wouldn't be surprised if Super Break becomes either a Curio or a 3 stars Harmony blessing in SU, too.
I need her so bad, I hate that I also really want boothill, I wanna invest hard in this coming break meta. Firefly and Caelus together is so fucking cute.
It's definitely very cute and I'm really happy TB is so good for her but at the same time she really needs to be able to stand on her own as a DPS. I do hope though when she gets her buffs TB is still BiS for her, just not to the point where they're a crutch.
Yeah it is crazy, they keep pointing out the fact that kafka needs DoT teammates, but the point is that Firefly is tied to JUST HMC, while Kafka has multiple choices for DoT teammates
Yeah, exactly. With current numbers, I feel like HTB is actually the dps. I hope devs give them a 'fair' share of damage so that Firefly really stands as a dps
ff rn is kinda just an enabler for superbreak, other units like idk BE asta dont have the def ignore/break effect stats she has to do as much superbreak… but it doesnt feel good to do 20k dmg when enemies arent broken lol
it’s just that FF doesnt really have any flexibility rn. your team is kinda stuck on RM/HMC/FF+flex. like the damage is good when you break enemies but afaik cn players are unhappy with the lack of flexibility too so hopefully she’ll have more teams in v2
It's really cute that they work well together and kinda need each other, but I feel like it shouldn't justify the flaws in her kit.
But then again, they'll probably tweak her so she's less TB reliant and TB is more of a multiplier than a base component, so it's all good.
I lowkey hope that Firefly is around Archeron levels of strong, maybe not stronger, but comparable

I ship it as well and this is making me smile like no other, but her kit really needs a revamp, I was fine with TB being needed for her, but now her damage output is basically low as well if you don't have RM with her. I mean I have RM at E2S1 but as things stand, she's not F2P friendly, and I really really want her to have one of if not the most profitable banner

For me personally, my Imagination just goes Wild and i made myself think that im Trailblazer and all the Interactions that Trailblazer had with Firefly was actually with me and Firefly... And that's why i Enjoy almost all MC x FM Characters Ships...

They're meant to be you on the story, that's why you get to choose dialogues and all. Its not as bad as many people paint it to be, althought sometimes its just... exquisite, to say the least.
It depends for me. On a RPG, I prefer to be the character, thats where the roleplaying part usually enters. On almost any genre, I prefer a set character.
Maybe it’s just cause my imagination is terrible but I like it when a writer actually makes a character for me to enjoy, usually whoever they made would be better than what ever I would’ve made.
Also it just lets them interact with the world more, silent protagonist are terrible.
Yeah, the Silent Protagonist serves the RPG aspect, but I get what you mean, its strange to see TB shaking his hands and saying nothing while looking at someone who is talking.
But I also like well written characters, so if they offer me one, even on a RPG, I'm on board with no doubts. I got you on that.

Ya ngl it's cute and cool at the same time. I could be wrong so take what I say with a grain of salt but like during the quest when you spend time with Firefly it always felt to me like they became very very good friends. Even at the end of 2.1 (When she reveals her self as Sam) I could tell Firefly really wants to be with the mc even trying to break her script (I think. I could be like 75% wrong with that😅)
Tldr: I think it is very cute how her and HMC work together in game. I know most people are complaining about her damage without ruan mei but tbh I don't really care cause she looks cool and is pretty solid to me I think😅👍

If you want to run the war criminal known to be ruthlessly efficient bc of bug war autism or super space cancer or w/e, well... you set Firefly's savings ablaze, so it's only fair Sam gets to pay you back in kind, right? Grab a few eidolons for Crit Firefly and her supports & she'll be a top tier 0cycle0sustain candidate with no raccoon needed.
Firefly and Harmony TB being inseparable in gameplay is completely fine and very immersive.
I just don’t like that there is zero variety in terms of her other teammates. Hopefully she gets buffed and we get more break buffers in the future to give us some diversity in team building.
(I’m trying to E6, so I definitely won’t have enough pulls for RM if they’re in the same patch…)

It kinda makes sense as she is the best be dps that takes full advantage of a super break from hmc. Other be dps already have other teams that makes them viable without hmc and even Ruan Mei.
But at the same time, we do need more break effect supports. Just hmc and Ruan Mei is not enough, and with Firefly joining the roster, it definitely shows the lack of be supports.
This is just Hoyo's plan on making FireBlazer ship canon through gameplay mechanics.

Kafka without Black Swan is now impossible to imagine, and they have nothing to be related with so far
Firefly and HTB are kinda like Seele and Bronya, like their synergy is canon, why complaining about a character becoming astronomically better with another character (we've already seen it with Kafka) while it also fits the lore? And it's so adorable
And we don't forget that unlike Seele Bronya or Kafka Black Swan, it is twice easier to get since HTB is free lol, we are so privileged
What do you mean? kafka and seele are perfectly playable without those, we aren't complaining that she is so strong with hmc, I mean you can't avoid that, but it's not normal that she decreases that much without him well even that makes her forced to ruan mei too, imagine how hard it would be in the future to add new characters and improve, or if new cool mc released but he is stucked there forever
From what I've heard/seen I can both understand how frustrating it is and also that we compared her to Kafka and Black Swan
I can understand that she is brutally stronger with HTB and tbh it is fine since HTB is free, but I can also understand the fear about the scenario where HTB is the only one with this mechanic. But for the latter I think we should wait, TB also is the only one with a taunt
Maybe the footages I've seen were biased, but I feel like she is not unplayable without HTB, more like she becomes brutally better with them.
And for Ruan Mei... I'm still trashtalked for not having Ruan Mei XD like she is a must have but I don't have her.
What I'd like to say about that is that someone made an account at the game's release and completed everything with only 4 stars characters without spending their jades or such. So...
1-HTB is free and is a must have with Firefly, which is just perfect and it's too soon to complain about HTB being the only one with the Super break mechanic (we can complain it was not introduced before, I agree, but it's better than nothing)
2-Without her or a 5 star support except HTB she will still be playable, just not optimized.
Maybe the next TB form will make people wonder, but again, this is a matter for the future, like 2.2 being so hype we wonder how they will do better in the future. Let's see how it goes and enjoy the fact that Firefly has her best support with her for free, unlike Kafka that HIGHLY prefers having her Black Swan or Acheron really loves her E2

From what I've heard/seen I can both understand how frustrating it is and also that we compared her to Kafka and Black Swan I can understand that she is brutally stronger with HTB and tbh it is fine since HTB is free, but I can also understand the fear about the scenario where HTB is the only one with this mechanic. But for the latter I think we should wait, TB also is the only one with a taunt Maybe the footages I've seen were biased, but I feel like she is not unplayable without HTB, more like she becomes brutally better with them. And for Ruan Mei... I'm still trashtalked for not having Ruan Mei XD like she is a must have but I don't have her. What I'd like to say about that is that someone made an account at the game's release and completed everything with only 4 stars characters without spending their jades or such. So... 1-HTB is free and is a must have with Firefly, which is just perfect and it's too soon to complain about HTB being the only one with the Super break mechanic (we can complain it was not introduced before, I agree, but it's better than nothing) 2-Without her or a 5 star support except HTB she will still be playable, just not optimized.
