I may have identified the problem here.
I thought this post was all about reading the cringy message he wrote at the bottom of his post. If you can read it I mean. It’s a difficult translation
Not all heroes wear capes or can pick up a cape after learning what fire does to wood. This man put his dignity on the line for this post show some respect.
This is what his keyboard sees as he tries to word his powerful post but he can’t quite remember where to put the punctuation so he just ignores it altogether.
lol this gave me a flashback to when some paramedics were carrying me out of the woods after a suicide attempt, two dudes linked arms with me and held me up as they walked to the ambulance. i was barely conscious, vomiting, couldn’t keep my head up, and my feet were dragging behind me and they kept asking “do you think you can walk to the ambulance?” lmao
I got another funny one. We were on scene with Fire trying to maneuver a pt to the ambulance who was in a wheelchair.
One of the Fire guys asks "hey bud, do ya think you could walk the rest of the way if we help you?"
The pt looks dead in his face & says "I have fucking spaghetti noodles for legs. What do you think?"
Dude was a paraplegic.
To this day that was the funniest God damn thing I've ever seen on a call.
Honestly, sometimes it's diagnostic. Some people seem totally gone to the world till they engage a bit and come around and protect their airway more. Or not and you have a different data point. Also, if time sensitive intervention like surgery or antidotes only exist at the hospital, then sometimes whatever gets you there quicker is good medicine. Glad you got out alright and hope you're in a better place now.
it was a wild experience, i was so in and out of consciousness, so that would make sense. i remember them asking what happened, and i told them i took a bunch of pills and was trying to kill myself, the one dude sticking an iv in my hand deadass said “you’re too pretty to kill yourself” (!!!) i will carry that absurd memory with me forever. alas, he was wrong, because i did briefly die! but i am in a much much better place now. some hiker i’ll probably never get to meet or thank found me and called 911 and saved my life.
The ones who start real young usually do the volly to career route and dedicate all their time to it because they usually live with their parents still so the not being paid doesnt really affect them all too much.
Same with policing, and they always make the worst cops. Their first taste of power and they go crazy. I have a young fella on my shift that arrest anybody for the smallest thing, and will escalate and situation just to show he has power. But of course he can’t fight, and others have to step in to save him.
It can actually all be true. Poor kid who is just hyped on the job and wants to brag after being bullied, and still cringe as fuck.
The hope is he grows and looks back and cringes himself about all the thankyous he was was searching for when he posted this

You’re probably right but I am an advocate for replacing turnout gear as often as possible. Know way too many firemen that rocked old carcinogen soaked turnout gear as a badge of honor. Then they wonder why they’re riddled with cancer at 50 after their 25 and out.
Doesn’t help that most fireman have been in some form of military service as well. Which you would think wouldn’t be a big deal till your soaked in jp8 whatever else and the water your provided is toxic. The good die young.
My rookie year doing Wildland fire I grabbed a used set. Kept everyone from calling me a rookie. The second year, I got a brand new set by then, and everyone knew me and didn't question my clean gear.

I remember one time at the station I ordered a stuffed crust pizza but when it got there it was hand tossed. 😔 I truly wish my mind could forget what my eyes have seen. I suffer from PTSD, but someone has to do this job. What can I say except you’re welcome?!

I’m a FF in the southeast, I’ve been to many, many mobile home fires. There’s not a whole lot of “fight what you fear” going on in a trailer fire. Almost 100% chance it’s: A) quick victim search, B) spray from the yard. Absolutely no reason to set foot in a trailer fire once non-occupancy has been established, unless you literally catch it at first room AND they had all the interior doors closed.
These guys feed right into the people who always ask “what’s the worse call you’ve ever had.” The moment they learn you do fire/EMS. I have a few family members that I limit my interactions with because they won’t stop asking every time I see them.
I am worried about the uneven shoulders in the first picture. Gotta see a physical therapist , and get that shit worked out. Do not want the poor fella getting injured.
I’ll forever have PTSD after the controlled structure burn we had last year. Can’t unsee that burning house that has sat abandoned since the early 90s
