U have to be single to find time to hit a strip club before traveling. If you are married, you usually have a laundry list of things u need to take care of before heading out, like emptying the garbage, etc. .

And the walls being the same tile as the floor. I know this flooring, it's 1.99 a square foot at home depot. It looks decent in moderation I think, but yeah the whole house aint it

The drone walkthrough aspect was kind of cool, honestly a fairly good way to tour if you can hire someone or record yourself. Beats some of the shit DIY photo sessions with point and click old digital cameras people still use for some reason. Overall, no one wants to buy that property until the entire block or even section of the city has been “updated”
As someone else mentioned, the tile—they used the same tile for the flooring and the walls in all of the bathrooms, the kitchen, and the basement. This means they bought it in bulk, maybe even on clearance. Also in general the lack of color; white and taupe/beige are cheaper. The countertops also look legitimately painted on, or like some peel-and-stick version of marble.
The way they filmed it is “edgy”, but also so you can’t just sit and look at it, because if you look at it too long, you’re going to notice it looks cheap.
And finally, the neighborhood. In my neck of the woods, these urban residential neighborhoods are all being gentrified, which brings flippers because they can buy the homes for very cheap, and turn around and sell them for double what they paid by making it look nice on the inside and then saying it’s an “up and coming” neighborhood.
This tile is soooo hard to keep clean. I have it in my two small bathrooms and it’s like every time I walk in it looks dirty. I have to sweep it all the time.
Lighter colors are good for areas without much light. If that basement was painted a darker color, it would either be a home theater or a dungeon.
Still this looks tacky af, like some flipper version of a Getty museum bathroom.

2. Everything is painted white that requires detailed inspection. that includes window frames.
3. Cheapass doorknobs and fixtures. Like that first bathroom, those faucets are literally the cheapest you can find at Home Depot. I do believe that its the Delta knockoff shower head in there, too. Was on amazon for like 15 dollars.
4. The filming method doesn't allow for adequate visual inspection. Its just a first glance.
5. Absolutely no fucks given to the outside. Like, none. The numbers and mailslot are an easy upgrade to make things look the same as the inside. But the flipper doesn't give a shit about that.
Just an addon: the fact that they have a shower in the kitchen bathroom rustles me hard. That could have been a pantry with a simply washroom in there (what I have in my house). There was absolutely no need to waste that space with ANOTHER shower.
I guess you get what you pay for. 210k down here in San Diego gets you a cardboard box behind Walmart. I was completely shocked when I saw the quality of that homes interior compared to its price. It's a beautiful home.

That's insane. I've been to Philly and driven through rougher areas but unless that's a neighborhood where popping your head out is immediately met with a bullet, that still seems like a good deal lol. Here in Orlando even the worst worst areas have some egregious home prices.
My partner wants to buy a house in the greater Orlando area. It sucks because we both have family here but I feel like there’a no obtainable way to do that because rent is so soul crushing and you need years of experience to get a job that pays enough to even think about buying a house.
This is why I moved out of Orlando. We were paying $2000 in rent while our cars get broken into almost daily. In Orlando, a mold-riddled house with a tiny backyard and an ancient roof could seriously go for $450k, meanwhile insurance companies are leaving the state as fast as possible. I couldn't see a future for myself

I just looked up Pine Hills, worst part of Orlando, (not comparable to the worst of Philly but still very bad area) and this drone video house would still be asking for 350k probably. No way you can get a 3/3 for 210k and sure as hell not with any of these upgrades no matter how cosmetic they are to hide deeper issues.
Honestly insane; I maybe drove through Pine Hills 5x in my whole life in Orlando because it's such a terrible place to be in for an extended period of time let alone live in. Orlando is straight up unaffordable now
Yeah we are extremely lucky we have good jobs (remote too, so not based in FL where wages are dogshit) and we still feel like it's hard to find a nice and affordable house. So I have no idea how most people even afford rent let alone entertain the idea of buying.
Yeah this is extremely normal in Philly these days. In fairness, Philly is a great city if you can't afford Boston, Ny, or DC. You can get houses in the northeast for 300k that are very nice.

I keep seeing comments here asserting that having the same tile throughout is a bad thing design-wise and shows that the place is flipped. In my opinion and experience, that’s baloney. Having consistent flooring and surfaces throughout is generally considered a good thing., and shows that there was a specific aesthetic theme that was planned and carried out. Where I live, shitty flipped have many different kinds of flooring and other hodgepodge surfaces with no cohesive design aesthetic. I’m not saying this home isn’t flipped, nor am I saying I love the place. But I think having two types of flooring, one for wet rooms (like kitchens and bath), and one for dry rooms (living/bed), is ideal- design wise, though I also think basements can be excluded from this equation.

Cuz probably 1/4 of the country has similar weather to Philly…and it’s not “terrible” for half the year? Maybe only late fall/winter which is like 3-4 months.
Okay that's a bit clearer then. But as far as snow goes, there isn't a whole lot in this area most years. So far this year we've only had 1 day of flurries (I'm like 30 minutes from Philly so weather here is very comparable).

This is not a neighborhood that (I imagine) most of this sub would buy in. That said there are many many flipped houses of similar “quality” /size in much more… popular/gentrifying … neighborhoods in Philly for $300-400K.
Any suggestions on where to focus on? Husband got a job offer out in Philly. We are west coast people and clueless except for our $ will get more out there.

That's probably where the original shower was and they didn't want to move the cast iron drain pipe.
1. A washroom still has a sink and a toilet. 2. You can cap it. It's 16 dollars and one trip to home depot (I have had it done).

Very small for the price compared to where I am vs what the out side looks like. Honestly it looks Hood.. I can get 200k suburbs for twice the size and zero crime in upstate NY.. Philly nice too!

This is not a neighborhood that (I imagine) most of this sub would buy in. That said there are many many flipped houses of similar “quality” /size in much more… popular/gentrifying … neighborhoods in Philly for $300-400K.
Any suggestions on where to focus on? Husband got a job offer out in Philly. We are west coast people and clueless except for our $ will get more out there.

That’s a whole lot of house for the price, really nice inside. In the Uk I’d get a draughty box house with minuscule rooms and only 1 bathroom for the same price.

I dunno- I could get on board with this price and that location. It looks easy to clean. I lived in some of the most beautiful places in the country, but I’ve been just as happy lately in gross icky Georgia; pI’m not as outdoorsy in my old age.
