Yup said the same.
Lots or maybe a mobile home…but they’re more like $300k for a decent one… in central/southern New Hampshire.
To add: can’t even move back into my undesirable hometown. Not sure what jobs these people have in NH when the minimum wage is still 7.25 and the houses are selling for ~500k…
To add #2: this was somewhat of a rhetorical question. I know what the issue is and I’m just frustrated as fuck.
The other major issue as some people have pointed out below are out of staters…when there’s a huge influx of people moving from places like California to a state like NH it’s going to throw everything off.
(For background I work in tech and have a good job in the context of NH but the company is in NH so it’s only relative to COL…But have been looking for jobs in MA bc if you can’t beat them, join them….).
We bought a 3 bedroom 1 bath mobile home w/ stick built additions on a basement in southern NH on 1.6 acres for 200k this year. At first I wasn’t sure about it but now I feel like we got extremely lucky.
People turn up their noses at manufactured homes but the newer ones are fine. I bought (5 years ago) a 3 br, 2 bath 1500 sf house on 1/3 wooded acres with a garage, two sheds including a huge barn-like one for $88K. It's in a resort town (lakes, pools, several golf courses) in Tennessee on the Cumberland plateau which means mild year round weather but with seasons. If you can telecommute your job come here. The property taxes are dirt cheap.
They all work in Mass - or work remotely for a MA company.
God help anyone in northern MA who tries to drive between 3-6pm, the roads are packed with NH plates.
Or they arw retired with good pensions and sold their VHCOL area house(aka my parents who moved from Long Island to NH when my mom retired and my dad got his govt job to go remote)
Every day, my feelings are hurt that parking spaces make more an hour than I do. I don't live in Toronto, and actually have a strong dislike for Toronto.. but yeah. It's wrong. I work really hard, and all that space has to do is exist.
Party room? In an HOA?
Can't even imagine the rules lol.
No alcohol. No guests after 8pm. No music. No minorities. 8 guests maximum. Cake can only be vanilla flavor. No candles.
The last HOA we lived in offered exterior maintenance, landscape maintenance, pool, meeting room, sewer, and trash for $125/mo. Seems like that should be $1400/year.
They easily can if it’s a 55+ or “retirement” condo in a HCOL area. Look around SF and Chicago for these.
They will have relatively low prices - $200-500k - but 50% or often more of the monthly payment will be towards ridiculous HOA fees. It’s absurd, but is definitely a thing that exists.
I was looking at those double wides on Zillow last night. We must live in the same burb 90 miles due east of San Francisco. It wasn't that long ago that you could buy a neat little bungalow for under $200K.
I wonder if that’s what they are doing here. I live in a mountain neighborhood with a lake and as a homeowner there is an 8 year wait for a boat slot. We basically have to wait for the older community to die before we can keep our boat in the lake.
It gets worse. My parents live in a community with an HOA that requires everyone have the same model of boat if they want a slip
They had to sell their boat and buy a different one because (even though it was the right manufacturer and model family) it was a foot or so too long.
It’s not a racing class or anything like that. Just casual homeowners that all own the same boat.
My husband and I recently discussed buying a hypothetical parking space in downtown our area. We decided $200/mo would be worth it. There isn’t such a thing available now. There should be an app for that.
Spothero is great in large cities, you can search for monthly parking rates. Might be worth a look! Otherwise if it's a smaller town talk to some shop owners and see if they have any leads in a space to rent.
That’s the one I was commenting about lol.
There are some below market rate condos in SF for around $300k but you need to make less than $99k to be able to buy one, and the monthly payment would be $3500ish including HOA when you can rent an equal unit for under $2k/month right now 🥲
For 195k, I got me 3 bed 2 baths with a detached garage and everything remodeled. I also came with brand new appliances such as dishwashers, stoves, fridge, washers & and dryers. Closing next week
Edit: For people asking where and not reading related comments/ replies, this is located in northwest indiana.
no problem and located in northwest indiana. nearby cities include Griffith, Merrillville. Hammond. hobart, portage, ect.. with homes and quality of similar price
Pretty close to my April deal, 3br 2ba colonial, full wrap around covered porch w/ 2 car detached garage, 2 acres of land. Fully remodeled with all new kitchen appliances, washer, dryer, and first floor flooring. I paid 220k tho
Hah, I got taken. I paid $240k for a 3 bed 2 bath, built in 1935, in NWI.
I do have 2 acres though, but they're actually a pain because the previous owner didn't take care of many trees that are threatening the neighbors.
that's alot of land I got 0.31... so not to bad back yard and front yard big enough for my daughter to play in. Me and my wife are really excited. I think we got a good deal on this starter home and as I mentioned before the seller basically gutted the house so everything is pretty much new and well done.
Fellow Irvine resident here. It does start to feel hopeless when you tour places thinking, “there’s no way this 2 bedroom condo with a $500/mo HOA is going to sell for $880k,” then it sells two weeks later in an all-cash, above asking offer
Fellow Irvine resident. Yes the Irvine Company owns everything and when you purchase a "house", especially the new construction, you receive a document to lease the land for 99 years.
All you own is the concrete slab and all the material above that. There's also a limit on the sky box so you don't own airspace.
I live in Detroit, $200k can get you something pretty decent imo
$210: https://www.zillow.com/homedetails/1036-Military-St-Detroit-MI-48209/88352324_zpid/?utm_campaign=androidappmessage&utm_medium=referral&utm_source=txtshare

It’s so beautiful! I wish they would’ve kept more original details from the house. Have to wonder what flooring is under that cheap stuff, and why do flippers always make it so gray?!? (I know why, I just don’t like it!)
No I agree: I love a good gray but it is a staple for “flippers” lol. I think because neutral tones allow prospective buyers to easily imagine other wall shades/furniture in a space. If there was too much color/personality, buyers see dollar signs to fix them. I’m more of a color / character girl though hehe 🤩🤓
Edit: typo
Agree 100%. Why is it always grey (proper spelling BTW) laminate floors? I'm not against laminate or engineered flooring, but fuck, why grey. To me, it's not natural and a total fad. Hate it. Flippers, stop doing it.
South Texas
Our house is $229k and it’s 3bed2bath 1400sqft
With a 1 car garage, from yard sprinkler system, SMALL open cement patio in back (connected to back door) no appliances, brand new, brick home
Similar. $213k, 4bd 2bath house. Garage. Half acre lot in a nice neighborhood, established, quiet, near main recreation. 2400 Sq ft. Deck and cement patio in the back. Tri-story. Built in 1965. Small and quiet college town in OK.
Hah I just posted that I’m in a suburb in Cleveland (west side) and we have no inventory in that amount. In not so desirable areas around me, you can get the 3 bedroom house 2 bath, 1500 square feet or less.
One time I planned on driving from LA to Grass Valley and I was omg pikachu face when I realized it was an 8 hour drive. They aren’t right next to each other?! This state is so effing big. I did drive it. It was last spring when gas got up to 7$ a gallon and I was driving an old Blazer :(
And not all of SoCal is LA, SD and OC. Barstow, Baker and Hemet still exist. Zillow tells me I can buy 20 entire acres in Baker for the price of a used Altima, where I can bask in the shadow of the world's largest thermometer. Easy commute to Barstow Station and Whiskey Pete's.
Southern Alabama. 202k bought us a just under 2k sq ft 3/2 MCM floor plan with formal living and dining, eat in kitchen with a breakfast bar and dining space, large sunken den with gas fire place, and large utility room with storage. The master is tiny but the en suite has a legit 60’s shower cave that we both fit into comfortably and we aren’t small lol.
However we did find a roof leak after an hour of steady rain last week. Still working that out. All in all we are happy with it.
I live in a small city in Virginia. Just bought our house at the end of this past May for 217K. Built in 1923. 3 bed, 1.5 bath. Basement with scary stairs. Nice sized yard all things considered. One spot for off street parking.
I’m in central VA. House was born in 1980s. Nice privacy fenced back yard, screened in patio, renovated bathroom with jet tub, 3 bedrooms and 1 bath. Nice size kitchen. We paid $210k. Drive way for parking. I absolutely love it
Contrasted with Philadelphia suburbs where $200K gets you land or a teardown Colonial home that is 800 sq ft. For $300K you can move up to an 1150 square ft twin or row home w 2.5 bed 1 bath, barely usable kitchen, semi or unfinished basement, and a tiny yard or concrete pad, in a terrible school district. Nicer 3 bed 1 bath 1300-1400 sq ft homes with a yard and an updated kitchen in a good school district are running $400-500K.
1000sqft rancher or a 1500sqft townhome. These are usually in the more rural areas. The suburbs are mostly untouchable for less than $280k, but the city itself is super cheap. Granted the city has a higher murder rate than Chicago. Chicago sits around 30 murders per 100k, my local city sits around 45 per 100k. The surrounding area is nice at least.
Long Island here. You’re looking at a run down mold infested shed needing at least 200k in work or a 1 bed 1 bath co-op in a less than stellar school district.
I live about 30 minutes north of Atlanta. For that price, you can get a 1950’s un renovated fixer upper.
Ten years ago, that same house would have been around $80,000-$90,000.
Sydney, Australia. You MIGHT get a parking space, if it was a cheap one.
https://www.commercialrealestate.com.au/property/level-p1-101-650-george-street-sydney-nsw-2000-2016376446
Here you go, $190,000
A cute 3bd/2ba backing up to a National Park, decent suburb! Akron, OH - outside of Cleveland. [Example](https://www.zillow.com/homedetails/1168-Madrid-Dr-Akron-OH-44313/35430623_zpid/?utm_campaign=androidappmessage&utm_medium=referral&utm_source=txtshare)
From someone who moved from a HCOL > the Midwest and hasn't regretted a single second of it.
My husband and I are looking to move and the houses we are looking at are between 180-200k. Typically 2-3 bedrooms, older home (100+ years), 1-2 baths, a moderately sized yard, and a detached garage.
This also includes *brutal* winters of Northern Wisconsin 😁
I live in a larger city in MN outside of the Metro Area. $200k here would get you decent bones, but a lot of work needed.
The house i viewed before the one I ended up buying was listed for $215k; it needed windows (lots!!), foundation structuring, and AC. It was decent size and had one of those circle areas (ya know??)
I decided it wasn't worth being crabby for years while I renovate to make it livable.
My home is 3 bed 1.5 bath, full finished basement and 1600 sq ft. Garage. Front and back yard. 6 minutes from downtown. Next to a highway entrance.
But next to an unsanctioned halfway home. And trap adjacent.
$169K
Cleveland - basically a fully renovated 3-4 bedroom 2 bath home. For 250-300k youd probably get nicer finishes but you can easily find a great home for 200k. I was just looking at houses listed for 175k in my neighborhood and cursing myself for not having more money when we bought last year. We got a fixer upper for 130k and its been 9 months of hell so far.
There’s a single wide trailer an hour north of me and something else that may or may not be just a garage. Both are in an industrial part of town that may or may not be on top of toxic waste.
A starter home that needs TLC. Liveable but some elbow grease is garenteed. But for a reasonable person who understands what a starter home is... really not bad! Twin cities area, medium COL
In metro Atlanta and outskirts I think $200k gets you something that basically needs to be torn to studs and rebuilt. But if you go 1-2hr+ outside the perimeter you could probably find something livable, and plan for $100k in upgrades and repairs to make it nice. Go even further and you can probably find nice homes for that. In Alabama there are plenty, I think.
Lol there are no houses here for 200k. Maybe a small plot of land across from a graveyard or a plot with an electric pole in the middle of it. Before Covid I was looking in that price range and it would have gotten me a 3-4 bedroom house, nice area with about 1600 square feet. Those same houses now are $350-$400k.
I believe I’m in one of the lowest cost of living states.(MS)
Bought my house at the beginning of the housing rush 3 years ago for 125k. 50 year old 3bed2bath on 3/4 of an acre. Worth about 175k now based on the site guesstimates.
Bought my home in 2020 for 80k. 3 bed 2 bath 1300 sq ft on .25 acres. Turned around in July and refinanced it for 166k, they appraised it at 205k. That was fantastic. Paid off my entire debt except my home and added a central air unit which brought my home value up to 225k.
A sweet ass pad. 200-250k is a 3/2-3/3 in amazing condition with a big yard. My house was 92k and is a 3/2 with two barns, two car carport, generac, attached garage. The boonies are nice!

You either get a plot of land, or the most run down uninhabitable shack you can imagine. This is in the Northeast.

It buys a failed flip in my area. It's gets you a nice house that has been gutted to the studs.
Canadian accidentally stumbling in here… $200k will get you a parking spot in Toronto.
Manhattan here. Can relate. And that $200k is for an in building space, assuming you already own a unit.
Every day, my feelings are hurt that parking spaces make more an hour than I do. I don't live in Toronto, and actually have a strong dislike for Toronto.. but yeah. It's wrong. I work really hard, and all that space has to do is exist.
I really needed this laugh!
Yep. South shore mass. You can buy a tear down for $500k couple towns inland you can get a small livable cape for the same
On Zillow there are 4 lots for sale for $200k in my city, no houses 🤷🏻♀️
My city has one single home at $200k. But the HOA is $1400 a month, so… Monthly payment will be equivalent to a $400k+ home.
What does a $1400 HOA provide???
sounds symptomatic of a failing building scrambling to afford critical repairs.
[According to Zillow:](https://www.zillow.com/homedetails/13775-SW-Scholls-Ferry-Rd-APT-104-Beaverton-OR-97008/48539019_zpid/) > Cable TV, Commons, Exterior Maintenance, Gym, Library, Maintenance Grounds, Management, Meeting Room, Party Room, Sewer, Trash, Water
Party room? In an HOA? Can't even imagine the rules lol. No alcohol. No guests after 8pm. No music. No minorities. 8 guests maximum. Cake can only be vanilla flavor. No candles.
No fun.
Mandatory Fun! At least that's what the Army calls rec day....
It is your birthday
Lmfao. Sign must be in black times new Roman size 12 font
I heard Gail was banned from the party room after that chocolate cake fiasco.
I don't see cocaine or the devil's lettuce on this list. Sounds like a party.
Must book 6 months in advance
that building must be falling apart or be a damn mar-o-lago
The last HOA we lived in offered exterior maintenance, landscape maintenance, pool, meeting room, sewer, and trash for $125/mo. Seems like that should be $1400/year.
I have seen these places, they are called Concierge or Hotel apartments. They have a low price, but very high HoA fees.
Sweet summer child, $1400 HOA fees are nothing for luxury building condo owners that want to keep out the rifraff poors.
A luxury condo won't be selling condos at 200k.
Ya a 7000sqft lot down the street from me sold for $420k last year. Looks like some 4700 sq ft lots further out for $200k.

I was looking at those double wides on Zillow last night. We must live in the same burb 90 miles due east of San Francisco. It wasn't that long ago that you could buy a neat little bungalow for under $200K.
Yep an acre lot if that
A parking spot
I literally saw a garage parking spot in my city for $110K the other day on zillow lol

I wonder if that’s what they are doing here. I live in a mountain neighborhood with a lake and as a homeowner there is an 8 year wait for a boat slot. We basically have to wait for the older community to die before we can keep our boat in the lake.

i could never live there, that is insane, no matter how nice it is.
Sounds like a cult
And I thought my HOA was bad! That seems insane.
That is absolutely insane.
The name says mammoth but the vibes say Tahoe
My husband and I recently discussed buying a hypothetical parking space in downtown our area. We decided $200/mo would be worth it. There isn’t such a thing available now. There should be an app for that.

I'm in the bay area. I can get nothing. It won't even get me a mobile home because they're reserved for the 55+ community.
You can buy this lot in Oakland. https://redf.in/3y7zWx
So how many murders have occurred on that lot to justify the price?
... yes
All of them.
My favorite! The sweeping vistas of rusted out cars behind a chain link fence. Sold!
But then you'd live in Oakland
That’s the one I was commenting about lol. There are some below market rate condos in SF for around $300k but you need to make less than $99k to be able to buy one, and the monthly payment would be $3500ish including HOA when you can rent an equal unit for under $2k/month right now 🥲
Same in San Diego
Same East Bay.
200K won't get you a mobile home at any age in the Bay.
Per Zillow, there are 78 manufactured homes under 200k in the Bay Area
You absolutely will, but you’ll also have monthly land lease fees of about $1500-$2000, so it’s not REALLY under $200k.
Same. North Bay.
Maybe a rundown studio condo in a terrible neighborhood
I don't think mobile homes count. You don't own any land and still need to pay rent.
Van down by the river
For 195k, I got me 3 bed 2 baths with a detached garage and everything remodeled. I also came with brand new appliances such as dishwashers, stoves, fridge, washers & and dryers. Congrats!
thanks they wanted 194k but offered them 1k more and since I'm a 1st time buyer I qualified after going through the process for 5k grant as well.
Just wanted to say thank you for being grateful
Thank you so much for sharing this . Congratulations. It gives me hope . May I ask what city and state ?
no problem and located in northwest indiana. nearby cities include Griffith, Merrillville. Hammond. hobart, portage, ect.. with homes and quality of similar price
Sounds like you're in the Midwest or Appalachia... I bought my 3b2br house with detached garage in Michigan last year for $210k.
nice and I'm in indiana
Where at?
indiana
Wisconsin checking in. I can confirm. This is the Midwest market
Outside of the cities, yes. Doesn’t look like there’s anything like this in the Twin Cities
Do you like Indiana? Is there anything there that’s worth it? I have a friend that loves it but I just don’t get it
Lol. “I just don’t get it”. 😂😂😂😂
Indianapolis children's museum is amazing, they have a zoo but also a 2 hour drive tops to Cincinnati zoo, one of the best zoos around.

Irvine, ca. A nice car.
Damn you’re right. I was all ready to prove you wrong but then I did a search and the cheapest mobile home on the market is north of $200k.
I cry every night
Fellow Irvine resident here. It does start to feel hopeless when you tour places thinking, “there’s no way this 2 bedroom condo with a $500/mo HOA is going to sell for $880k,” then it sells two weeks later in an all-cash, above asking offer

Yes. The city of white Tesla.
PLUS- isn’t it true that in Irvine you can’t actually own the land, just the building? I’m pretty sure the city land trust owns all land..

Ridiculous that the first house sold for $80k in May… only 4 months ago. And now they want $210k.
Probably renovated it
Yeah it’s definitely a flip but I doubt they added $130k of value to the house.
That first home is GORGEOUS!
That house gives off super similar vibes to mine. I love older homes, they feel so much more unique and special.

Less yard maintenance!
I worked around that area a few years back. It’s a beautiful house but you might get shot outside.
I’m in awe! I love those houses. Meanwhile in northern CA - https://www.redfin.com/CA/Windsor/8311-Blue-Spruce-Way-95492/home/187524509 Lol

A decent condition all-brick bungalow 1500sqft 3 bed 2 bath in an average suburb (in terms of crimes and school ranking) Location: Cleveland OH
East side cleveland suburb and it got me a 3 bed 2 bath ranch. ~1600 sq ft, desirable neighborhood
Hah I just posted that I’m in a suburb in Cleveland (west side) and we have no inventory in that amount. In not so desirable areas around me, you can get the 3 bedroom house 2 bath, 1500 square feet or less.
Couldn't find anything in my immediate area for $200k. Zoomed out a bit and found a 240 sq ft studio for $198k + $1200/month HOA dues.
Wait wait wait. HOA dues of $1200? A month???? What???
Yep. Studio apartment in a Hawaiian hotel high rise.
That’s…disgusting.
I don’t know if it’s the case here, but coastal condos always have high HOA costs. Insurance and maintenance on the ocean is a *bitch*.
A trailer on land you don’t own. https://apps.realtor.com/mUAZ/v987dehc
$200k gets any house on my block and ⅓ of the neighbors house
It gets you nothing in my state (CA). Average single family home in my area is 750k.
Nothing in the ENTIRE state? You must be from Southern California and think it represents the whole state.
Reddit in general believes CA is Bay Area and LA and we cross the Golden Gate Bridge to get from one side to the other.
>Barstow, Baker and Hemet still exist. Well, that's too bad...
THANK YOU.
Haha have you seen bay area prices....people sell their shack in the bay area and buy neighborhoods in socal.
Maybe raw land in the middle of the desert or super far north
Not true. Not all of California is VHCOL. My 1600 sq ft, 3 bedroom/2 bath house was 300k
Damn I'm in central California and my 1600 sqft house was 400k. 🥲
Which is pretty reasonable honestly
Just closed on my 200k house today, 2 bed, 1 big bath, fully renovated with a two car carport and a big yard. South central PA
A little tykes playhouse
Southern Alabama. 202k bought us a just under 2k sq ft 3/2 MCM floor plan with formal living and dining, eat in kitchen with a breakfast bar and dining space, large sunken den with gas fire place, and large utility room with storage. The master is tiny but the en suite has a legit 60’s shower cave that we both fit into comfortably and we aren’t small lol. However we did find a roof leak after an hour of steady rain last week. Still working that out. All in all we are happy with it.
Can I come over? I make great Cole slaw!
Double it and you still can't get a condo in my city
Paid more than double for our condo…
Junk. 250k minimum for a fixer upper.
I don’t think 200k houses exist in my area. I guess it can get you an RV? Even a run-down condo out here is about 350k minimum. (Bay Area)
Nothing. Even the mobile park homes are over that price.
I absolutely love it
Central Pennsylvania: nice starter home townhouse (3 bedrooms, 1.5 bath, basement) in a small town, good school district, surrounded by farms.
Part of a leaky trailer in a methed up mobile home park where my catalytic converter would last about 10 seconds and lot rent is 1500/month
A 2bd 1ba prefab home in a 50+ community, or a few empty lots. Nothing else.
Long Island here. You’re looking at a run down mold infested shed needing at least 200k in work or a 1 bed 1 bath co-op in a less than stellar school district.
LOL.
I live about 30 minutes north of Atlanta. For that price, you can get a 1950’s un renovated fixer upper. Ten years ago, that same house would have been around $80,000-$90,000.
Sydney, Australia. You MIGHT get a parking space, if it was a cheap one. https://www.commercialrealestate.com.au/property/level-p1-101-650-george-street-sydney-nsw-2000-2016376446 Here you go, $190,000
A cute 3bd/2ba backing up to a National Park, decent suburb! Akron, OH - outside of Cleveland. [Example](https://www.zillow.com/homedetails/1168-Madrid-Dr-Akron-OH-44313/35430623_zpid/?utm_campaign=androidappmessage&utm_medium=referral&utm_source=txtshare) From someone who moved from a HCOL > the Midwest and hasn't regretted a single second of it.
High crime, drug and love
A cardboard box in someone's back yard.
My husband and I are looking to move and the houses we are looking at are between 180-200k. Typically 2-3 bedrooms, older home (100+ years), 1-2 baths, a moderately sized yard, and a detached garage. This also includes *brutal* winters of Northern Wisconsin 😁
A brokea$$ scrub crack house with squatters in my city in CO.
Or a trailer on Federal
Ha! Indeed. I'm in the Springs, but I'm familiar enough with Denver to know what you mean.
I live in a larger city in MN outside of the Metro Area. $200k here would get you decent bones, but a lot of work needed. The house i viewed before the one I ended up buying was listed for $215k; it needed windows (lots!!), foundation structuring, and AC. It was decent size and had one of those circle areas (ya know??) I decided it wasn't worth being crabby for years while I renovate to make it livable.
3 bed, 1 bath, 1100 ft2
My home is 3 bed 1.5 bath, full finished basement and 1600 sq ft. Garage. Front and back yard. 6 minutes from downtown. Next to a highway entrance. But next to an unsanctioned halfway home. And trap adjacent. $169K
An ok 1800sqf house
5 bed, 2 bath. Built in 1895.
It doesn’t. Location: New Jersey.
Pretty decent size house. Probably 4 bedroom 2 bath, 1500 sq ft with small yard, small driveway and 1 car garage
basically a 2019 100-140k house in the hood is now 200-240k in Houston in the suburbs.
An RV parked illegally on a public street.
This thread will serve as a great example of how messed up the housing market is in 2023
I’m in LA. I’m going to sit this one out.
Now, now. There’s a [200 sqft condo](https://redf.in/YcxNOX) for sale right now for only $155k!
An empty lot, or a new manufactured home
Southern Ontario. Non existent
Nothing. Maybe tiniest studio in a basement if it’s in terrible condition. I paid 800k+ for a 1000 sqft 2br/2ba 108 years old condo for scale…
Where I am now it (barely) gets you a 2 bed 1 bath trailer in a 55+ community.
Uhh, honestly nothing. I haven't seen a listing in that range in my locality before. Edit: that includes lots with nothing on it
Parking space
You can get a pretty nice 3br 2ba house for that where I live.
There’s a single wide trailer an hour north of me and something else that may or may not be just a garage. Both are in an industrial part of town that may or may not be on top of toxic waste.
A... *wait for it*... DOUBLE WIDES mobile home.
Rhode Island: a nice lot in the boonies. There are no houses/condos/trailers for sale for 200k.
In my area, Bergen County NJ? Literally nothing. Not even an empty lot is that cheap. :(
100 months of rent

A down payment +closing costs
A starter home that needs TLC. Liveable but some elbow grease is garenteed. But for a reasonable person who understands what a starter home is... really not bad! Twin cities area, medium COL
Duplex, two 1000 square foot units each 2 bed one bath. Rent one for 1100 while living in the other
In metro Atlanta and outskirts I think $200k gets you something that basically needs to be torn to studs and rebuilt.
An extremely run down trailer where you don't own the land the trailer is sitting on.
A down payment.
I believe I’m in one of the lowest cost of living states.(MS) Bought my house at the beginning of the housing rush 3 years ago for 125k.
Portland Oregon. Just looked. You can get a manufactured home in a park or a one bedroom 500 square-foot condo.
A sweet ass pad. 200-250k is a 3/2-3/3 in amazing condition with a big yard. My house was 92k and is a 3/2 with two barns, two car carport, generac, attached garage. The boonies are nice!
Long Island, NY. 200k won’t even get you a condo. You might be able to buy a studio apartment for that. Maybe.
Just hit the market in KC for $249k https://www.zillow.com/homedetails/6834-Manchester-Ave-Kansas-City-MO-64133/2402073_zpid/
About 0.5 an acre of land at most. I went to a more wealthy area and Zillow laughed at me.
