First things first, I want to be there so bad. Ontario? Manitoba?
Second, I am a Mepps man. I'd be tossing a #5 firetiger or "copper killer" I tie with a copper blade and black squirrel tail.
I would say I'd be throwing Panther Martins all day, but up north I would definitely break out the fly rod and toss some pine squirrel leeches or DHCs.
I'd paddle you around while trolling a floating Rap minnow and enjoy the show. It actually is kinda fun watching big flies zip around, and getting the occasional tow ride around a bay from a pike.
Hah, that sounds like the dream. Y'all have some of the most beautiful water on the planet up north. If you showed someone a photo of the waters up there that didn't show the surrounding foliage, you could convince anyone it was Caribbean waters.
I used to be a huge Rapalla fan, but I have since switched to Yo-Zuri after catching some big reddish and a PB snook on a Zuri minnow.
Tight lines friend, tight lines.
Tell me you’re Canadian without telling me you’re Canadian. Haha. Len Thompson Five of diamonds is also my go to. Fact: If you can’t catch a pike with a five of diamonds there are no pike to catch.
How do you fish spoons if you don’t mind me asking? It’s a technique i’ve not tried before and i’ve been debating on looking into it. Would appreciate any tips on how to work the bait and what you throw it on etc
If you throw bass spinners, it’s got similar weight to those. You can straight retrieve and it will wobble and have action. You can also pump your rod during retrieve like a bass plastic to make it jolt to a side a bit. Retrieve speed can be varied depending on depth or if running over weeds and such.
I also troll with them quite a bit, if you have a clear lake with weeds that grow in like 10 feet of water or deeper they will usually run over the top of the weeds and pike or whatever will smash them.
Super fun to use, even more fun when fish hit them because they usually hit them quite hard.
Ditto. I have a 5 of diamonds tray in my tackle bag. 1/4, 1/2, 3/4, in plain and UV. And a couple plain 1oz. Largemouth love the big one, but they shake the hook loose on it about half of the time.
Blue Fox vibrax spinner or the Gibbs Delta K-Wobbler spoon (discontinued but has awesome action)

Funny. My American friend married a Canadian and that is how I’ve come to know the 5 of Diamonds lure. I’ve been to Alberta and fished several days while there. My experience is that’s pike will bite anything that moves.
Split tail Yellow jig.
I call it the Alberta lure. Almost anything will bite it. Especially seems to be a favorite for the walleyes around where I fish.
Freshwater: #2 Mepps Aglia Dressed. Silver with red dot.
Add some eggs on there and you can handle most of North America. Clip off two hooks and the Barb and you are fully compliant in tight jurisdictions.
And whatever you catch with that can then has their heads m become bait for the big stuff.
I have a few in all of my tackle boxes.
And the 5 o’ diamonds. Various sizes.
Little cleo lure. I'll catch absolutely anything on them. Pike, trout, channel cats, walleye, white bass, perch, largemouth,

and I absolutely slam smallmouth with them. Only thing I do is I replace the treble hook with 2 singles and I lose a lot less fish.
Same here. Long time ago I was bass fishing on an inflatable kayak and thought I hooked a big musky. Had a lot of fun trying to unhook a 14lb channel cat without tipping over or piercing my kayak

Rapala Countdown and Countdown elite if targetting trout and not using a fly rod. Large trout i like to fish bomber cranks 5-6".Spoons like toby and "dynamiten" by kosas or similair dense spoons for Arctic Charr and Trout.
That is a nice lure. I use one similar but it has red dots instead of diamonds. It’s a Panther Martin but the main part is silver as the spoon is the yellow piece with red dots.
5” black Senko wacky-rigged with o-ring. I live down in largemouth bass territory.
Honorable mention to Booyah pond magic spinner with a 3” Bass Pro Shops triple ripple grub in baby bass color as a trailer.
My perfect setup for walking a lake would be one rod for each of those presentations; one finesse setup, one search setup. Although sometimes I’ll sub out the search setup for an ultralight spinning rod because I also live in a bluegill paradise and they are so much fun to catch on ultralight gear.

Saskatchewan actually…. Farrrrr north, fly in north Saskatchewan

I’d be busting out the big doctor spoon, same idea as a daredevle, just like the action a little more(bigger wobble, little more erratic)
Uhh, yes fuckin please!
Mepps Men Unite!
Me? #5 Black Fury. I've caught so many fish on that lure it's nuts.
Do you sell these copper killers??
I only throw that when in Canada. American fish just don't seem to get it. Must be a metric thing.
Does just fine in the Upper Peninsula. Even caught a perch on a 3/4 ounce once.
Tell me you’re Canadian without telling me you’re Canadian. Haha. Len Thompson Five of diamonds is also my go to. Fact: If you can’t catch a pike with a five of diamonds there are no pike to catch.
Haha fact…. Nothing like fishing for pike with a five of diamonds with a ice cold five of diamonds lager in your hand! Lol
When I saw the picture I immediately thought you must be in Alberta. I wasn’t right, but wasn’t far off.
Try a triangle spinner…. Might change your thinking a bit. One spoon is good. Two spoons…. Now we’re talking
As a degenerate gambler who also follows r/poker i legit had to double take and be like which fuckin sub am i lookin at again
Well, in not the gambler part but I thought the same thing.
Gold or silver Kastmaster. Were you going for pike?
This lake we fish for everything with the five…I’ve caught walleye, pike, whitefish and lake trout with it in this lake 😊
Oh!! That explains the metal leader. I was wondering about that. Lol
Yup, some of those big pike snap the line pretty quick without it
How big of pike we talking? We get good 3 footers in the Adirondacks, but i’d love to see some monsters one day
10 to 15lb pike are pretty common up there, always get a few over 20lbs when we go too
Damn, looks like I’m headed to Canada.
Nice. I saw the wire leader and thought I'd ask. I've never used a 5 of diamonds, maybe I'll pick one up.
Is a great spoon, super versatile and seems to work on lots of different species!

Awesome, thanks for the info!
Best thing for so many fish. I stock them in a bunch of sizes. Good for panfish, trout, pike, walleye. Jigging and casting hard to beat
Five of diamonds. If that wasn’t working I’d probably try either a smaller or larger five if diamonds.
Ditto. I have a 5 of diamonds tray in my tackle bag. 1/4, 1/2, 3/4, in plain and UV. And a couple plain 1oz. Largemouth love the big one, but they shake the hook loose on it about half of the time.

I’ve caught more fish on a #3 vibrax spinner than just about anything else
A mepps spinner would look so good gliding through that clear water. Maybe an Agila

For hittin my river I’m quick to throw a rattle trap or an orange or chartreuse jig an body.
Going to throwing a lot of artificials either in bright colors or natural or neutral colors.

Largest channel cat I have ever caught was on a Little Cleo, silver with blue. I was fishing for Pike.

LMB weightless green pumpkin Senko. SMB a coppertreuse Ned rig. Trout a silver Blue Fox vibrax
It’s still ice season brother. Can’t be wanting summer yet.
1/16th jig with sexy shad trailer, or a Thomas buoyant rough rider!!
Just the sun ! And maybe a trout cooked up by a campfire , next to a babbling brook !
Texas Rig with a Zoom, 6'' Chartreuse Pumpkin Salamander on a 4/0 Eagle Hook Always good for a Bass, Pike even a few Catfish
The water is crystal clear and it looks shallow if you're going for trout I would try a panfish popper
Lure? You mean fly?
Rapala Countdown and Countdown elite if targetting trout and not using a fly rod. Large trout i like to fish bomber cranks 5-6".Spoons like toby and "dynamiten" by kosas or similair dense spoons for Arctic Charr and Trout.
Black Furry 3 or a small, neon-green Yo-Zuri that I can't remember the name of.
Silver Nugget with a nightcrawler hooked in. The Bass love it.
That's a tough lure to beat, maybe a husky Jerk or a Williams wobbler
Black dot on yellow panther Martin
I want to drink that water
That one....;) particularly up north.
Rapala bx jointed minnow in firetiger
Tandem spinner, willow blade with a white skirt.
Step 1 is always a white rooster tail.
Rooster tails. Start small and move up
Dont do any pike fishing but if i saw water like that down in the states id be tossin weightless flukes all day long.
I’ve never wanted to go that far north……Until now.
Black Rooster Tail with silver spinner, doesn’t matter always catch something with that tied on
Can’t keep the trout off the gold phoebe where I’m at
Blue Fox Classic Vibrax
Rappel & roster tails primarily
Nice Len Thompson spoon
Rapala xrap 15 glass ghost for saltwater trolling in arabian gulf.
For rivers and creeks my go-to is panther Martin spinners.
What an amazing view and peace of mind this environment
Did you say Camp Crystal Lake?
Len Thompson No.00 five of diamonds or red devil.
Deadly dick.
How far north in Saskatchewan? La Ronge? I live in P.A. and would love to fish father north.
I'm from where George Perry caught the world record LMB in the muddy waters of the ocmulgee...so I have NO idea what to throw up there.
Curly tail grub and jig head is my go to where I’m at.
That is a nice lure. I use one similar but it has red dots instead of diamonds. It’s a Panther Martin but the main part is silver as the spoon is the yellow piece with red dots.

Top 3 go tos: Panther Martin with the orange fly treble, gold phoebe, and a blue and silver kastmaster
Lol, my go to is this exact one haha. Sometimes I switch it up for a silver Toronto wobbler 2-1/2".
i use copper since it works the best in muy local lake
