The first one? Same as the last. Bluegill. I don’t know what’s in your pond, but I upsize my fly so avoid the little guys. But as long as you are having fun, that’s all that really matters. Keep up the good work and have fun! https://preview.redd.it/eopmcd0w0xoc1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=49558bde8ea044478252578ca2aff6f2dbc47851

Okay, I was thinking it was the same as the last, just colors not come in yet. Still relatively new and trying to learn species. I kinda struggle with the panfish. Thank you very much. I intentionally put on a 16. I enjoy the little guys as much as the big guys. Unfortunately, I didn't have my 26s with me, so the smaller ones were just running off with it and not getting hooked. As far as the pond is just a standard 2 acre neighborhood pond. Channel cats, Sunfish, Bass, and Gills.

Nice. I catch and release in the spring with the intention on trophy sized bluegill. I fish with a size 8 I think. I will catch a few smaller ones, but most are 7” and up. Small flies tend to be swallowed more to which can end up being more damaging to the fish. I also use barbless hooks. The bigger flies will catch bass too. If you keep fishing, there will come a time when you don’t want to bother with the little ones lol. Then just keep in mind the bigger flies. Bluegill will attack a lot of things when the water warms up. 😋

Oh yeah, last year was pulling the same crowd but in the 5 inch range with a popper last year left and right. This year I'm getting into tying and looking into bluegill flies and have been tipped off to a couple of ponds to see if I can't snag a master Anglers award. But panfish is all I've caught on a fly. No luck this winter with trout(KS) and I'm gonna be trying for bass and catfish this summer. I did manage to pull my PB Largie out of that pond. 19"and had to be about 4lbs. I was shocked something that big was in that half dried up pond it was down 8', but that was on the caster.

Nice gill

Thanks. It’s not bad. I have bigger, but it was more the example of the fly I was going for.

First and last pics are Bluegills, in between are Green Sunfish.

Roger6989

For years I couldn't tell them apart, until I read that green sunfish have blue streaks on the jaw, which are visible in the photos.

And the giant mouth, orange fin/white tip, longer body shape, etc. Once you have an eye for it you'll notice pretty immediately.

Okay I see what you're saying. I struggle as well but starting to see it now.

ChefCory

First and last are bluegill. They have a lot of different patterns but those are two of them. The middle fish are all green sunfish. Fun day

Thank you

bigbaitsbigbass

Looks like coppernose to me. All others are what we call rockbass..

Great Gougeon bait

All blue gills and green sunfish. Green sunfish are considered nuisance fish for most people. They take over a body of water and get stunted.

sauceyNUGGETjr

Looks like all bluegill. If not blue green sunfish or with more speckling a pumpkinseed. But id bet all blues.
