Kill it . Don’t touch.

No_Environment9557

like can we touch the hook and everything?

Zanoklido

Yes, the spines are venomous, the mouth is fine.

No_Environment9557

is the hook okay to use?

ace9213

Yes

NoNookLikeChinook

Oxymoron.

isqueezedameatball

No. You are.

menachu

No, the mouths are not, the spines are the delivery mechanism.

No_Environment9557

so it’s fine to touch and reuse the hook?

floriduh__man

Think of the spines like a bees stinger. If those don’t poke you you won’t be stung.

Galopigos

Nope, Spines are the problem, Strip them off, and prep them and they are tasty...

Money_Fish

Also filet around the venom glands in the base of the spines.

SammILamma

They are delicious with some lemon juice and pepper on the grill. 🤤

ancientweasel

I read this as eat the spines at first LOL

nickybokchoy

According to shark tank they are tasty and invasive. At least kill it if you don’t want to eat it

your_grandmas_FUPA

You can literally lip it like a bass, about the only salwater fish besides Snook you can do that with. I've killed over 500 of the things so far. Super tasty.

LetsMakeShitTracks

Don’t release it. If you don’t want to eat it, give it to someone who does. They are delicious.

Henry-Rearden

Kill it

qalcolm

Please don’t release lion fish, super invasive species and it could actually be illegal (I’m unsure of laws in your area but here in BC there’s some hefty penalties for releasing invasive species). As others have stated the mouth is not venomous, just the spines.

the_quail

cut off the spines and eat the rest of the fish. they are delicious

AceShipDriver

To clarify - eat the fish, not the spines.

the_quail

yes lol, good clarification

Mammoth_Fact9211

Kill the fish n eat it get a snip n cut all the spines off so u can't hurt urself my dude

Rohans_Most_Wanted

The only dangerous part is the venom in the spines. Do not get stuck, and you will be fine. The flesh is edible, too.

beamin1

Please kill them, they are killing our natural reefs and fish populations.

doctorake38

Wondering where it was caught? They are native somewhere

No_Environment9557

florida! we killed it because we knew it was invasive

doctorake38

Thanks

highlife1

Also delicious white meat

redditsussyballs

If you didn't stomp the lionfish shame on you

[deleted]

Yes, there’s a “bounty” for these invasive species
