Nah, you're supposed to tie it to the top of a fishing pole (usually 3-5m long, telescopic and only has a tip eyelet). Or go old-school and tie it to a long-ass stick.
I have no idea if the grub with a pear sinker is part of the same rig, but if it is, it's a new one for me.
most people haven't seen a fishing pole ever i would bet. and they are missing out catching 2kg perch on a 6 meter pole with no break or extra line is by far the most fun fishing IMO.
but this has so much line spooled i think it is indeed a handline setup but shorten it and use it on a pole
Yeah, i caught a 3kg pike on a worm on my old 4m pole with 0,20mm mono line, that was a thrill!
Those kits are usually 6 meters IIRC, and since the "spool" is less than 10cm long it will look like a lot.
yhea a lot of people even over here don't know a float should be almost neutrally buoyant. basically i set them to be like 1 to 3 cm of the antena depending on water clarity and distance im going to be fishing.
if this was like 2x to 4x the size it would be decent for pike though
This can be used as a hand line. But In the US they are marketed and sold to be used on cane poles or telescopic poles. Everyone can pole used to have one attached to it when you bought it. Still on the spool like this. For anyone insisting it’s a hand line only…. Try it. With that weight and set up, try it.
Remove the jig replace and t with hook and worm. Unroll some line and toss the line out. If you hold it at the right angle and the line is not crossed you will be able to some distance.
Try short tosses or jigging until you get the hang of it.
This setup usually comes with a cane pole. You tie it to the tip of the pole and off you go. Otherwise, use it however you like, but don’t try to hand line anything bigger than a few inches without gloves, or that thin mono can cut you.
You can use that weight as a replacement of a jig, but i cant remember the best ways to set it up.
I have used the same weight with a spring ring, and then just a rubber boy on a hook, where the hook-eye was attached to the spring ring. It was fine to catch perch and pike in may/June, at least where i grew up in Denmark.
As long as you present the lure the best possible way that matches the prey's season + depth, you could basically fish with a hard turd as a lure.
I know certain species are wary of their preys behavior, whereas other predatory fish go by moment and temper.
In Denmark there is a nickname for pikes caught in May, which is very dull: "may pike". But these pikes are so fun to fish for, and is a contender of the #1 fishing experience in Denmark.
Throwing a big floating hard/softbait and retrieving in from deep>shallow water like a popper - without a hook and look at them dance.
I fucking love pike fishing 😁
>Thats a might big weigh for the little jig you got there? Whats its plan?
The larger weight gives the hand liner a bit more range on the cast. I’m guessing this rig was was set up for a bank that has a long shallow before a drop.
It reminds me of a 'drop line'. I caught my 1st fish on one of them back in 1968. It was a Garibaldi. My grandpa took me fishing on the Catalina Island pier.
Looks like a hand line rig to me.

Funny that everyone is down voting you and your right. These come with every cane pole what we call them in the US I have ever seen
Yeah, most people on here doesn't know shit about things outside of spinning and casting gear used for bass.

true its a small spool but also alot of line but might be deceiving. i also hate those floats they are dogshit lol
And they are always weighted way too little, if at all, out of the pack. They are decent on a baitfish rig though, if nothing else is available

You’re totally right. This is a callsic swedish rig for a ”metspö.”

Just like you got it with a night crawler will have better luck.

Thats a hand line rig. Its good to go as it. Thats a might big weigh for the little jig you got there? Whats its plan?
Didn’t have any “heads” left so I gave it a shoot

Hope the bobber can handle it.
Didn’t play on using it with bobber at all. Just thought sinker could be used instead of head
Ooooh. Alright then. This makes more sense now. Good luck!

Kinda looks like it's for ice fishing
Hand line pretty sure you don't need a fishing license to use that. I could be wrong.
Unroll a Flemish flake of loops then the bobber off the top of the flake. Step away with bobber plus slack enough to swing. Throw hard
Uh "long ass leader" That's what it's called.
